Your children may not be able to see the Holy Ghost, but you can help them feel His presence. The Holy Ghost is real—it is important that our children understand who He is and how to recognize Him. Enjoy this book as a bedtime story and a teaching opportunity as you and your children remember the Holy Ghost by comparing his characteristics to relatable, everyday objects like a blanket, an umbrella, and a pair of glasses. The Holy Ghost is Like a Blanket has heart-warming illustrations that will help the whole family learn about the Holy Ghost.
The Holy Ghost is Like a Blanket is a fabulous explanation of who the Holy Ghost is and how he functions in our lives. The easily understood metaphors and beautiful illustrations are wonderful in sharing with children (or adults) the reality of the Holy Ghost and the blessing he is in our lives. It would be a fun book to discuss in a family discussion or one on one time with a small person.
I really liked this book and would recommend it for everyone and their loved ones.
I loved how simplistic this book is and the principles it teaches. It is written for children, but I even learned a few new things. At the end of the book, the author provides scripture references. This would be a great aid in preparing talk on the holy ghost at a baptism or make a great gift for one preparing to be baptized. I got it for my two year old to look through during sacrament meeting and she looked through it the entire time. Great for any age!
Adorable art and really helpful comparisons so children can begin to understand who the Holy Ghost is and how he communicates. I teach 4-turning-5-year-olds in Primary and I think I would save this book for when they advance to the next class or near the end of this year.
Great text and illustrations. Very effective for teaching children about the various ways the Holy Ghost can be manifest. I'm looking forward to adding this one to our home library.
This book is absolutely adorable. I wasn't completely sure what to expect, religious books (especially for kids) can be a huge hit or miss. Each illustration takes up an entire spread of two pages, and offers a family friendly activity like camping, or playing. It compares the Holy Ghost to a bunch of different things that a child can easily understand.
I think for young kids they probably don't completely understand what the holy ghost is, other than the big take away that you will feel comforted. It is a great foundation for their simplistic testimony.
We just purchased the book that goes with this about wanting to be Baptised, it is like a step up depth and understanding wise. It had more text and wasn't as simplistic. I like that style too, because when kids are little, you don't have to read every word, or you can explain different parts at different stages.
Done in the same style as "I Want to Be Baptized", this book focuses on attributes of the Holy Ghost and describes them in ways young children can grasp. • Again, there are references for where each explanation came from- some scriptural, others based from hymns. I love the illustrations- so cute and friendly.
There was one misprint, but it was a very cold book. I read it in Family Home Evening. My 6 year old enjoyed the comparison of the Holy Ghost. Thank you.
My little, 3 yrs old, likes to listen to this book. She likes hearing what the Holy Ghost is like and how it compares to daily things. Great read for her.
