Sugarcreek Amish Mysteries #28

Quilt By Association

Rate this book
Anton Birken has returned to Sugarcreek to attend his mother’s funeral. He was shunned a decade ago after the suspicious disappearance of a teenage Amish girl he liked. While the girl’s parents, and the community, suspected Anton of foul play, the police lacked evidence to arrest him. When Levi allows Anton to stay in their dawdy haus, Cheryl is more than a little worried— especially when another teen girl vanishes after Anton’s arrival. Has the girl simply run away, or has something more sinister transpired?

Meanwhile, Cheryl entertains Sharon Vogel, a gifted quilter from Lancaster County whose quilts Cheryl wants to sell at the Swiss Miss. However, when local stores experience a wave of peculiar thefts—including one of Sharon’s valuable quilts—Cheryl finds herself embroiled in two mysteries instead of one. Or are they somehow related?

Quilt By Association is a very intriguing mystery written by Nancy Mehl in the Sugarcreek Amish Mystery series. This story has several mysteries wound together keeping the readers interest until the end. Ten years after a young Amish girl went missing the Amish man that was accused of harming her returns home for his mother's funeral. Anton has no place to stay so Cheryl and Levi Miller allow him to stay in their dawdi house. Levi and Anton were childhood friends and Levi always believed he was innocent. Now someone is stealing from all the local merchants and no one can catch her. When a quilt is stolen from the Swiss Miss, Cheryl is on this young girls trail. Also at the same time one of Cheryl's young employees goes missing. Now with three mysteries to solve and several suspects on her list Cheryl knows time to figure them all out is about up. As a knock sounds on Cheryl's door during a horrific storm everything starts fallin into place. Will Anton finally receive the respect he deserves? Who is stealing from the merchants? Will Cheryl's employee be found unharmed? This story has a very intriguing conclusion. I enjoyed the characters in this story and the cover is beautiful.

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response and all opinions are my own. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.

28th book in series. 10 years ago one of Levi's closest friends Anton left Sugarcreek after being accused of foul play in the disappearance of Leisel a friends of his. He swore he didn't harm her or know where she went. A lot of the church didn't believe him. Now 10 years later Anton has come home for his mothers funeral. He had sent letters to her but is afraid his sister kept them from her. While he is staying at Levi's dawy hause the town is not happy to know he's back. Then another girl goes missing right before the funeral. Now they are looking for two girls Joni the missing one and Angie a runaway that has been stealing survival items from main street stores.

I thoroughly enjoy spending time in Sugarcreek, Ohio, visiting with the folks who live there. In this 28th volume of the series, Cheryl is still solving mysteries, running the store, and raising a family with former Amishman Levi. Two missing Amish girls, one now and one from 10 years ago, plus a homeless girl, are Cheryl's focus. Very entertaining series!

This is one of the best books in the series. This story just was an enjoyable read. The story kept you riveted the entire time. I was convinced Liesel was in the well from the first moment it was mentioned she was missing. You have to love a happy ending!
