I have met the author at Festival of Reading in St. Pete, FL and bought two of his books, since this is my favorite genre and I like supporting indie authors.
This is one of the books I got and WHOA, I didn’t expect to read it in a day! I’m usually a slow reader, but I just kept flipping pages until I read the entire thing. I am so excited to read the other book that I have and to also get more! I absolutely loved the writing style and characters. Everything was put together nicely, you can see the author’s effort to make things “make sense” and it is clear that the proper research has been done.
I am currently taking a break from Instagram, but I will be raving about this book when I come back. If you need a good horror/suspense novel and no idea what to pick, please consider giving this one a shot and I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I did. All stars from me!

‘Echoes of the Past’ by Evan Bond
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5
Finished on February 9, 2019
$2.99 on Kindle

BOOK DESCRIPTION:
Sasha’s husband is abusive. He makes her life hell every day. It seems like an endless loop of terror and hopelessness. After years of putting up with it, she finally can’t take any more.

She takes her little girl and runs as far away as she can — to a small town in Maine, Carlisle. She figures it’s the best place to start over, fresh, where no one knows her. At first, the locals seem friendly and welcoming, but when bodies start piling up in a town that hasn’t seen violence in decades, they turn on her.

All she wanted was a new life, free from fear and violence, but she suddenly finds herself fighting for her life in a town full of vigilantes.

MY REVIEW:
Bond never disappoints. ‘Echoes of the Past’ is a wild, fast-paced, thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat, white-knuckling my Kindle, from the beginning to its exciting and satisfying ending.

Sasha harbors a dark secret, and all she wants is to provide a safe and stable life for her little girl. She hopes they can have it in the tiny town of Carlisle, but she’s sorely mistaken.

‘Echoes of the Past’ brings a resurgence of the witch hunts of the past into today. It shows just how easily people can be manipulated, and how quickly mob rule can take hold. As the action ramps up, Bond’s characters come into themselves whether that be for the better or worse.

Pick this book up, but prepare yourself for a wild ride only Evan Bond can craft.

Burned through this one; it was a ‘read in record time’ book for me. Usually any book takes me days to weeks to finish, but I was locked in on this storyline. This book really moved; definitely a fast-paced read. It went down a few avenues I wasn’t expecting. Pleasantly surprised by the twist and turns on this fun but disturbing tale. I was thinking one thing, then out of nowhere the book flipped me on my head (more than once). Loved how unexpected this book was, so well done to Evan Bond on this one. You got me good.

Sasha Hall can only take so much abuse. Now she is being treated for depression. Sasha has to make a decision for herself, and her 9 year old daughter, Tara.

Her husband turns out to be a wife beater, a drunk, with maniacal tendencies. Tara is so vulnerable now. All the more Sasha has to protect her. Sasha is constantly looking over her shoulder.
She makes the decision to move to a peaceful, quiet little town, and it's located in Carlisle, Maine.
After getting settled in. A neighbor knocks on her door to welcome her. She invites Sasha and Tara to the town meeting that evening, so she can say hello to everyone.
Sasha never imagined what Sheriff Harrison reveals at the meeting. Sasha's nightmare is only just beginning.

I love to support an indie author when I get the opportunity. This was unputdownable.
This author's writing will have you riveted to this story. A cast of complex, compelling, and engaging characters. They will keep you totally captivated to the last page. What an ending!

I received this book for free from ebook discovery. I volunteered to review it and this my honest review.

Reader beware there is talk about spousal abuse.
Wow this was a wild book. Honestly, could not believe how crazy this town truly was. Reminder to myself avoid moving to small towns and once anything starts becoming weird get the heck out of dodge. Sasha has had it rough with her husband to the point that she was just done. Moved herself and her daughter to another place, a place that would be good or yet that is what she thought.
Now, I was confused on the timeline of things because it seemed that everything hit so quickly back to back. If you read this book you will know what I mean. Sasha moves into the town, then murder happens. Then she meets with the sheriff and it seems they start a relationship? Like dang it girl, you gotta slow ya roll. Her new neighbors do not even try to get to know her even though they seem to be all about the town. Some parts I really was confused on why it would happen that way, yet it is what it is. The element of craziness within the town was on par.
A lot of deaths will happen within the pages and at the end it will just go to show that a mother will stop at nothing to protect her own.

Sasha has suffered from abuse from her ex-husband Brent, she takes her little daughter, Tara, and seeks refuge in a small town called Carlisle.
Then a string of murders happen, the victims are brutally murdered with crosses drawn on their faces and black candles beside their bodies.
The town accuse Sasha of the murders and witchcraft, and through the book Sasha is trying to escape from the all the town
.
For me the plot was all over the place, it was so fast paced, some events were disturbing but a little bit nonsensical.

Overall, I enjoyed the book and the premise. Nice quick read, however I felt it escalated too quickly. There was a lot that I wish would have been fleshed out more as well as a longing for more character development.

'Echoes of the Past' by Evan Bond is a very odd book, the writing is awkward and repetitive, the characters one-dimensional, but the plotting drags you in.
In essence it is re-telling of the Puritans and Salem, wrapped in a small town murder mystery, brought to life in present-day America.
Sasha and her daughter, Tara, has fled her abusive husband to live in Carlisle, Maine. Almost as soon as she arrives the murders, each more grisly than the last, begin.
Sheriff Harrison soon joins the dots and is convinced that Sasha is being framed.
Of course it is at this point that the town loses its collective mind and reaches for the pitchforks and flaming torches - the 'witch' must die!
There are many, many holes in the plotline - a few that spring to mind are (a) why does Sheriff Harrison (or anyone else for that matter) make no attempt to contact help outside the town, (b) where are his deputies, (c) why is the police station so vulnerable, (d) where is the arsenal so beloved of Americans, Harrison seems to rely on a single pistol, and (e) how does the killer trace Sasha to her new location so quickly.
That said, applying 'suspension of disbelief' I mostly enjoyed the book, though until I checked I was fairly sure that it had been written a few decades ago rather than in 2018.

Looking for a thriller with an extra-chilling edge to read? Look no further than Evan Bond’s, ECHOS OF THE PAST. This thoroughly entertaining book will keep you reading nonstop from beginning to end - an ending, I might add, that you will never seen coming! Another successful addition to the Books by Bond collection.

Overall, an exciting thriller to sit down and fill your night with the thoughts of horror and the darkness of humans. Bond places us inside the head of a victim of domestic abuse, verbal and physical torture, and the everyday worries of many mothers living in the same situation. Pick up a copy and ready yourself for the ride!

Definitely interesting and so apt for today’s atmosphere. Fear is a powerful demon. That ending though ... poetic justice if I may say so. I received this book from eBook Discovery. I am voluntarily posting this review. This is my honest review.

Echoes of the Past is a fast-paced, heart-pounding thrill ride from the mind of Author, Evan Bond. A well-crafted exploration of the horrors that unfold when a town overrun with grisly murders, casts their suspicions on the “outsider.”

This was an expertly paced read that had me voraciously turning page after page, unable to put it down. Terrifying and disturbing, Bond does an impeccable job of scaring the crap out of you. Highly recommended!
