Favorite Quotes:

Just so you know, I’m feeling especially pouty tonight. If you hang out with me, I’ll whine and be unreasonable.

“I’m the firstborn. Responsibility is my middle name.” “You’re firstborn by eight minutes.” Margot sighed. “I did love being an only child.”

From her perspective, there was only one surefire way to get him to back off. She offered a regretful smile and lightly touched his arm. “I would love to only things are a little contagious…”She waved her fingers toward her crotch. “Down there, if you get my meaning. It’s not horrible but the rash can really burn.” Steven shifted away from her so quickly he nearly lost his balance and fell off his chair.

We’ve all done things we’re ashamed of. The point is to do better when we know better.

My Review:

Margot and Sunshine Baxter were fraternal twins and I adored them and want to be in their circle of friends. Both had started new jobs and had each reached an epiphany over their history of poor choices in their previous relationships with each sister actively striving to improve their lot in that department; if only the past were so easy to leave behind. The characters were beguiling and endearingly quirky with unique yet relevant challenges to accommodate. The storylines were well-crafted, engaging, cleverly amusing, and expertly paced. Ms. Mallery’s wordcraft is well-honed and she certainly knows what she is doing as I have easily fallen into a refreshingly pleasurable state of rapt entertainment with each of her lovely books that I have been lucky enough to peruse.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book and after reading California Girls, I wanted more and this author delivered. I probably could have read this in one sitting had I not required sleep,,,,,,,,,,I just could not put this down.

Margot and Sunshine are sisters who have depended on eaxh other since their mother abandoned them at a young age. Margot is poised and professional and lives a very controlled lifestyle. Sunshine is the opposite.

Margot's business involves helping her clients improve their lives. The story begins with her meeting a high profile client who is engaged to a diplomat. Her client, Bianca, has self-control issues and worries that her new role has a diplomat's wife could hurt the man that she loves. Margot meets Bianca at her son, Alex's home where she is currently staying. Bianca convinces Margot to stay at his large home if she is going to be effective with her work. Margot believes she has bit off more than she can chew as Bianca proves to be her biggest challenge, not to mention Alex is a bit eccentric with his own control issues. But she is also noticing that the more she is around Bianca and Alex, the more she is surrenduring her control which is allowing her to see and feel a different side of her, one that she is starting to enjoy.

Sunshine has sworn off men as she knows they are her weakness that makes her make poor decisions. She is hired on as a nanny for a widower's son, Connor. Due to the recent death of his mother, she believes this role allow her to keep her vow. Connor's son, Declan, is very busy and while appreciative of Sunshine's role with Connor, he will not cross a line with Sunshine. Sunshine decides to return to school to work on a degree as she believes it is her pathway to "normal" and this is what she truly wants. Her bond with Connor grows and she is realizing that she has feelings for Declan but refuses to act on them as she knows this will push her back to her old life and she has vowed to correct that.

While the two sisters are dealing with the events in their lives, they find time to stay connected and discuss their recent changes. I really love how the author unveils the many layers of flaws and emotions due to abandonment with Margot and Sunshine. There is pain and the two where a thick armor to protect themselves, but not with each other. The two hold each other accountable and the support and love that they have binds them together.

Does Margot and Sunshine find forever love? you will have to read, and i assure you, the story is worth it. Loved it.......felt it......and look forward to more!!!

The Summer of Sunshine & Margot by Susan Mallory

A touching novel about two sisters whose goals are to make their lives better. As they do their best at their respective jobs, each must learn to care for the new men in their lives.

It’s a beautiful and heart appealing story of the sister duo falling in love. Sunshine and Margot are so different. Their connection and support to each other is lovely and the best kind of sister relationship to have.

An excerpt that describes Alec. A sentiment I can totally understand.
“Alec Mcnicol did not like having people stay in this house. When visiting scholars came to study any of the ancient text, they worked in one of the archive rooms during the day, then retreated to hotel at night. The same with the household staff. Edna Stojicic, his very sensible housekeeper, brought a team of cleaners to tend to the large building and work her magic in the kitchen before disappearing long before 5:00 PM. There were weeks he never saw her at all. The gardeners rarely needed to speak to him and he communicated with Borys, the full-time woodworker/handyman the old Spanish building required, via text.
On a good day, Alec on no one, spoke to no one, and that was how he preferred things. He loved his life just as it was. His routine was predictable and that made him happy. Only now he was not only dealing with his mother, there was a stranger contend with.”

I received an early copy of this book at a conference.

EXCERPT: Sunshine Baxter was done with love at first sight. D.O.N.E. More times than she could count, she'd looked into a pair of - insert any color here - eyes and immediately given her heart. The relationships had all ended in disaster and she'd hated herself for being so incredibly stupid over and over again, so she decided she was finished with the falling in love concept. Over it. Moving on.

Except...

MY THOUGHTS: I have never been a great reader of romance, but Mallery has a way of writing that grabs at my heartstrings and totally involves me in the lives of her characters. She writes with grace, humor, and a certain realism that stops well short of cynical. In other words, her books are a pure delight, and The Summer of Sunshine and Margot is no exception.

There are no great surprises, but reading a book by Susan Mallery is a wonderful journey in itself. Her characters are so very real, experiencing the highs and lows of life that so many of us are so very familiar with. Her characters could be us, or our friends, and by the time I had finished this book, I didn't want to say goodbye to my new friends.

I adored the character of Bianca, headstrong, and yet so very insecure. And I did wonder why Sunshine and Bianca's mother would call one daughter Sunshine and the other Margot....but I'm afraid that is one question that will remain unanswered.

A delightful read.

sᴜɴ. sᴀɴᴅ. ʙᴏᴏᴋ ɪɴ ʜᴀɴᴅ.

Susan Mallery has constructed a sunny lighthearted story perfect for the summertime. Two sisters, two men,two complicated romances. Margot and Sunshine are sisters with very different personalities, but very similar dreams. Margot is the serious sister, the planner. She is working as an etiquette coach when she meets Alec, The buttoned up son of her free spirited client Bianka. Sunshine is the wild sister. Always making the wrong decisions, always falling for the wrong man. Determined to get her life on the right track Sunshine fights her feelings as she begins to fall for The man she is working for. Oh life is so complicated, especially when it comes to matters of the heart! Can two sisters with a history of making the wrong decisions actually find real love? Predictable? Yes. But with romance it is more about the journey and the characters and Miss Mallery is a queen when it comes to writing stories that melt your heart! If you love the love, this is a MUST summer read!

🎧🎧🎧 Tanya Eby always gives her everything to the book she narrates. Her passion for narrating really shines through. She always does a remarkable job and this book was no exception! She definitely brought Sunshine and Margot to life through her narration of this book!

This story was sadly a total disappointment. There were so many things I found offensive (if I had a quarter for every time I read “piece of a%^*” I could take myself to dinner!) and just wrong (I’m not going to report sexual harassment because I have other things on my mind that are more important right now). It was repetitive, demeaning, and ultimately just ridiculous. I mean who gets propositioned by just about everyone she encounters? I’ve always loved Susan Mallery’s books, but this one was an absolute miss.

One and a half stars.
Margot Baxter is an etiquette coach, who takes on a job with Bianca, an ageing movie star. Bianca is notorious for doing outrageous things designed to shock. The aim is for Margot to prepare Bianca for her role as a diplomat’s wife. Her twin sister Sunshine is trying to change her life patterns, instead of continuing the be the good time girl who abandons responsibility and ups stakes any time a good looking guy asks her. Now she is determined to finish college. Meanwhile she is a live in nanny to young Connor whose mother has recently died. Can Margot and Sunshine fulfill their duties or will Bianca’s son Alec and Connor’s father Declan cause unforeseen problems?
I had read and enjoyed a couple of this author’s books in the past so I was prepared to give it a go even though I wasn’t responding that well to the majority of the characters. In fact Connor is the only one I liked. The way the men in this book ogle Margot and Sunshine in particular they all sound and act like they have 16 year old boy hormones. In fact some that try and hit on Sunshine are not much older. Most of them of whatever age are jerks. The sex scenes and phone sex incident are cringeworthy and worthy only to be skipped.
Not sure why I continued to read the rest of the book. A lot of skimming went on. There will be people who will enjoy it, but I was not one of them. This author has written better books than this one. Though it had potential, for me this was a disappointing book.

Susan Mallery has done it again! To this day she is one of my favorite authors - she never dissappoints. Whenever I need a pick me up or feel good book I know exactly where to turn every time!

This is a moving novel about Sunshine and Margot Baxter, fraternal twins, who have come a long way since their mother left them when they were very young. These two sisters are so very different, but there is one thing that they are both searching for... true love! Sunshine and Margot have such a strong bond that you just can't help rooting for them to succeed!

Susan Mallery is a fantastic storyteller who can make you feel like you are right in the setting of the story - there's definitely a reason she stays at the top. This was a fast read with relatable characters, romance, humor, and family drama. Highly Recommend!

I’m always a fan of stories about sisters and if they’re twin sisters, I’m even more interested. I’ve read quite a few books by Susan Mallery about sisters and this one may be my new favorite, she has a true gift for writing about sibling relationships in a really realistic and authentic way and the family dynamics between Sunshine and Margot were both interesting and also sweet, a perfect combination for a summer read.

Like many siblings, Sunshine and Margot are polar opposites both in their appearance but also in their personalities. Sunshine is carefree and vivacious and has been known to abandon everything on a whim. Margot is more serious and reserved, she thrives on structure and a routine and takes her professional life very seriously. What they do have in common is their rotten luck with men, they say the Baxter family is cursed, but over the course of the story they both meet men who may end that string of bad luck for good. I loved both of these women, they’re far from perfect, therefore making them easy to relate to. They both undergo some pretty heavy character development by the end and it was really nice to see them grow and mature by the end.

True to form, this book had a little bit of everything, there was romance (and things do get pretty spicy 🔥), humor, and family drama, basically everything that I love in a book! Definitely recommended by me, especially to anyone looking for a book full of lovable, relatable characters.

The Summer of Sunshine and Margot in three words: Delightful, Genuine and Sweet.

Please note that I received this book via NetGalley. This did not affect my rating or review.

Well that was actually a good read compared to the other two books I finished this weekend. There were some weak subplots going on, but I did love the two sisters (Sunshine and Margot) relationship. For once we didn't get very little scenes with people who are related. These two depend on each other and love each other. The romantic interests were okay, I do have to call BS on Sunshine's though, there's a lot there that made me squirmy and I really wish that romance authors would stop with the boss/employee relationship. I read Ask A Manager too much because all I could think was the sexual harassment claims that can come in.

Sunshine is back trying to nanny again after finally ridding herself of the last guy she dated. She is determined to go back to college and get her degree in child psychology. Her new job has her being a nanny to a newly widowed father (Declan) of a young boy. Sunshine is determined to try to date "good" guys this time, but keeps finding more and more men are only attracted to her body. She also realizes that she may be falling for her boss.

Margot is an etiquette coach. She gets hired to transform an aging movie star (Bianca) who has plans to marry a diplomat and live abroad. She realizes this job may be tougher than she thought and she starts thinking about her client's son Alec.

Mallery does a good job with giving a solid backstory to Sunshine and Margot. There mother ran off and left them as did their grandmother. The great grandmother raised them and had dreams of one of them becoming Miss America one day. I don't even know what to say about all of that. I can't imagine having that as a goal for my great grand kids. Anyway, both women have scars due to their mother abandoning them and their lack of solid relationships. Both sisters end up picking losers and or people who just use and throw them away.

I enjoyed all of the dialogue with Sunshine and Margot. It reminds me of similar conversations with my sister and best friends.

I do have to say though that the twin plots didn't hold up much though. Margot and her job with Bianca starting boring me after a while. And when you realize why Bianca is acting the way she is it felt like a reach and too similar to Stephen King's Carrie backstory. Sunshine's plot with her going to school and trying with math was good though. I liked that she was focused on getting a good grade and did laugh at her math tutor going get a therapist, I am not here to listen to your problems.

The love interests were okay. Alec fitting the nerdy but secretly sexy type. Declan though bugged me a lot. We get a whole backstory on what was going on with his marriage. I still say that Mallery included it though so her readers didn't boo his butt for thinking sexy thoughts about his nanny.

The writing was very good and the flow was great. I have pinged Maller's other series before due to there being a plethora of characters and very little to tie them together. For once Mallery makes a book about sisters and stays fixed on them. I definitely liked this one better than "The Tulip Sisters."

The ending felt rushed with Sunshine's story, but I liked how Margot's ended.

The Summer of Sunshine and Margott by Susan Mallery is an ideal example of what I love in a light summer contemporary fiction – charming characters, plenty of humor, family drama, just the right amount of romance and most importantly a satisfying and happy ending. The author certainly knows how to tell a story and with easily flowing simple words she manages to keep her readers engaged, leaving them completely content towards the end.

The plot revolves around two fraternal twin sisters Sunshine and Margot who are poles apart in both looks and temperament but share a deep sibling bond. Margot is the practical sister, prim, proper and with a no nonsense attitude, she excels at her job as an etiquette coach. But her most recent client Bianca, baffles her. Bianca is an aging movie star who has had a glamorous and very scandalous youth. Now that she’s marrying a European diplomat she needs Margot to coach her to follow the rules of decorum in order to move among the political elite and be the dignified wife. Teaching Bianca self-control and the proprieties of aristocracy is much more demanding than anything Margot has ever handled before, but what’s even more challenging is trying not to fall for Bianca’s eccentric yet gorgeous son Alec.

Sunshine on the other hand is a dreamer and a romantic to the extent of being gullible. She has abandoned her life and job one too many times chasing after guys only to be dumped mercilessly every time. Now at thirty one, she’s had enough and hence has decided to be in control of her life. She enrolls herself in college to get a degree in child psychology, meanwhile working as a nanny for a sweet eight year old boy, Connor. Now if only she could keep her heart safe from the tempting single dad Declan, her boss aka Connor’s dad!

The plot isn’t elaborate as you can tell, but I believe it doesn’t need to be for stories like this. The focus is on sibling relationship, human connection, overcoming the pain in past and moving on, in giving life a second chance and thereby getting one ourselves. The characters were all relatable and realistic, flawed in their quirks and vulnerabilities and very human, as were the backstories associated with the two sisters and their respective love interests. Bianca, was an exception though, I wouldn’t really say she was relatable per se, but nonetheless a delight to read about. The romance is a sweet one, but it does get steamy towards the end. The conclusion was well done, not rushed, not totally unbelievable even if a bit cheesy, but I was satisfied. Although I would have loved an epilogue with a wedding maybe!

Yes, the story is predictable but it doesn’t make it any less endearing. I am all for intense literary reads, but sometimes, particularly in summer I long for a simple, sweet, predictable yet extremely satisfying story, exactly like this one which is just so good for the soul.

I’ll recommend it if you’re on the lookout for a light breezy heartwarming story that’ll be perfect to flip through on a long hot summer afternoon, especially if combined with a tall glass of iced tea.

The Summer of Sunshine and Margot is a book with a great premise that ultimately didn’t work for me. Sunshine and Margot are fraternal twins who are opposites in many ways - but both believe they are doomed when it comes to finding love.

What I liked:
I enjoyed the premise and learning about their jobs - especially Margot who helps people understand etiquette and cultural norms in other places.

I also liked that the setup gave us 2 love stories in one book - we could see each sister finding love.

What I didn’t like:

The way safe sex was handled in this book. One couple has sex with no protection and no discussion. Later it’s implied that another character should have used a condom because the woman he had sex with was “ah, friendly with many men.” First - no need to slut shame a single adult woman because you know she had sex with two men. Second - that’s not the only time a condom should be used.

The pacing. In many places the pacing felt waaaay off. Both sex scenes felt really rushed and awkward and weird. Sunshine and Declan fought their feelings for each other, had phone sex once while he was away, he came back and immediately declared that he loved her and asked her to marry him. What???? They haven’t even kissed yet. Also - Sunshine has been saying she always rushes into situations with men and isn’t doing that anymore. Why the rush??

I would suggest passing on this book. Thank you very much to Harlequin Publicity Team for the free review copy in exchange for my honest review.

This book feels much longer than it actually was. Somehow, despite having a decent amount of plot, the story was repetitive. It felt like the characters were always in the exact same place they started.

Also the romances were fails. Alec is too uptight and the author does nothing to soften him. His relationship with Margot is never built up to and why they’re attracted to each other is never really believable to me. Sunshine apparently has met every asshole on the west coast, and it’s frankly exhausting to read. The author should have spent more time building up her and Declan. Their relationship is hastily shoved in at the end with not nearly enough build up. The romance seems nonexistent for the first half as well, making the end seem even more abrupt.

Usually love books by Susan Mallery but I have to honestly say, I did not care much for this one. It does not normally take me three days to finish a book but this one was a plodder for me. Have to confess I scanned over a few erotic sections, not my cup of tea. Don't need explicit descriptions. I cannot personally recommend it but if you like Susan Mallery you may like it.

Song for summary: Meant to Be by Bebe Rexha

A heartwarming read! The characters are down-to-earth, independent, kind, and relatable while the plot is a sweet and unique tale about two sisters struggling to improve their terrible track record with men. A delightful novel by Susan Mallery as her trademark warmth, humour, and cast of memorable characters transpire to create this light and fun summer story.

This is my favorite Susan Mallery book so far. What I liked about this one is they gave us some POVs for the men and not just the women. I realize that this is chick lit. But I do love some POV for the men.

The women were interesting. They had goals and desires, but they also wouldn't break their principles. I also liked that they didn't just have the one character as acing her classes when she went back to college. They showed her struggling and dealing with real life problems in returning to school.

It seems to me that since #metoo, more and more chick lit and romance are including plotlines to reflect it.

What a darling summer read! This was light, engaging, and full of romance and love. I really enjoyed how opposite the twins were- it gave a good juxtaposition throughout the book - yet they were each other’s best friend and the author played off of this immensely!

I appreciate that we were able to see the flaws in each character and that a lesser character in the book brought that out. It was a great reminder that even though humans can be broken, it doesn’t mean that they don’t deserve a happy ending.

There’s a reason why Susan Mallery, till this day, remains one of my favorite author.

Her story is never complicated but full of goodness like a good, home cook meal. Her characters are never over the top. They are always relatable. In my head, her characters are real. Their problems are real. Their issues and insecurity are real. I think that, more than anything else, is what makes me love her stories.

I love Sunshine and Margot. I could relate to Margot more, compared to Sunshine simply because I was never a bombshell like Sunshine is. I like their sibling relationship. I like how close they are but not to the extend it becomes annoying. I also like how each of the sisters are allowed to grow on their own, without depending on each other.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for this free copy. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

(free review copy) Ahhhh, a super sweet and satisfying story that I just devoured in one day. Susan Mallery has been hit or miss for me lately but this one of of my favorites of hers! It actually has some pretty steamy romance scenes and the sister protagonists are just so original and empowered - I loved them. I also loved how original the entire storyline was - sometimes I feel like I’ve read every story on earth already, but this one was refreshingly different in the world of gentle romance ❤️

I loved this book it was a perfect summer read! Fraternal twins Margot and Summer are determined since they are thirty to turn their lives around! Margot who put her career aside to follow her boyfriend around the world, but now that her relationship has ended is focusing on her career as an etiquette coach. Her new client an eccentric former movie star whose handsome son is renovating monastery who also hired her to help his mother it seems like her life is taking an interesting turn. Sunshine has grown tired of her constant ex boyfriends not taking her serious and only wanting to sleep with her and then leave her, she’s now the nanny to to sweet eight year old boy and his irresistible father whose a widow. Sunshine has started to go back to college while still being a nanny as her feelings grow for the father and son she needs to decide with road to take. I loved the sisters connection and how they support each other. Margot and sunshine have eachother back since they were raised by their grandmother and abandoned by their mother. The author did an amazing job drawing the reader in and there were some steamy scenes! I give this four beach stars!

I've read all of Susan Mallery's Mischief Bay novels, as well as California Girls and have thoroughly enjoyed all of them. So I knew that I had nothing to lose from reading The Summer of Sunshine and Margot, even though the synopsis didn't initially grab me. However, the story itself grabbed me right away and held my attention the entire time.

I really liked all four main characters, as well as Bianca and Connor. I found myself smiling often, as well as worrying for the characters when something didn't go right. It was nice hearing the men's perspectives alongside those of Sunshine and Margot. There were some steamy scenes that were rather entertaining to read.

Overall, this was a sweet story and I enjoyed every moment I got to spend reading it. The only drawback was that the title didn't fit so well, since they were leading up to the summer more than it actually taking place during that time. That wasn't a deterrent for it being a great beach (or anytime) read!

Movie casting suggestions:
Sunshine: Hayden Panettiere
Margot: Rebecca Rittenhouse
Declan: Michiel Huisman
Alec: Sam Page
Bianca: Michelle Pfeiffer

This is such a fun and light-hearted story of two sisters, Sunshine and Margot! Sunshine is a Thirty-something nanny who is going back to school while nannying full-time. She is nannying for a sweet boy and his newly widowed father, Declan, whom she also happens to think is gorgeous, but vows to not fall for. Margot is an etiquette coach. Her client Bianca is a handful and Margot decides living full-time in her mansion is the only option. She meets Bianca’s son Alex, who is insanely private and serious. Will Margot be able to help Bianca and get to know Alex at the same time?
I personally loved Sunshine’s storyline. I kept wanting to read more and more about hers and found myself annoyed with Margot’s storyline. Just a personal preference!
Thanks to Netgalley, Susan Mallery and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review

I'm beginning to wonder if I read the same book as many of the other reviewers here.

To say I was disappointed in The Summer of Sunshine and Margot is to minimize how utterly boring it is. Think about slogging through 6" of mud while soaking wet and bruised from a hail storm only to be locked out of a home that has no heat and no power from the storm and you are left sitting miserable, wet and alone on the porch for hours, with only your dirty, cold feet and the locked door to ponder and resent. That boring.

The sad part is the characters could have been interesting with their depth clearly evident. Even the story could have been engaging and interesting. It's just bogged down with repetitive nonsense. Was there a word count requirement the author was trying to meet?

1 star - I am so disappointed in this sad bit of work from a writer whose books I have always enjoyed as breezy, fun and hard to put down. The Summer of Sunshine and Margot was hard to go back to reading when I did abandon it. . . . which was too often. I forced myself to finish it because I let it go overdue at my library.

Susan Mallery always delivers a wonderful story. Here there actually are several stories all woven together and masterfully, as ever. I do enjoy diving into the worlds she creates.

One word: AWKWARD. Some of the most awkward, unnatural and cringey dialogue I’ve ever experienced.

Een verrassende zomer ~ Susan Mallery
Harlequin, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After reading California Girls, I put The Summer of Sunshine and Margot on my TBR list. It’s a perfect beach read. Twins Sunshine and Margot couldn’t be more different but are close and support one another as they were abandoned by their mother and raised by their now deceased great grandmother. No surprise that both women have relationship issues continually making bad choices and decisions. With the start of new jobs, they both decide to change their approaches to dealing with men and other life issues. This is a quick, enjoyable book that keeps you rooting for these two well meaning women and its interesting cast of supporting characters.

The Summer of Sunshine and Margot by Susan Mallery

Harlequin Books
June 11, 2019
Fiction, beach read, romance
386 pages
Rating: 4/5

I received a digital copy of this ARC by NetGalley and Harlequin Books in exchange for an unbiased review.

Fraternal twins Margot and Sunshine Baxter are the best of friends. Margot works as an etiquette coach following in her grandmother’s footsteps. She is meticulous and proud of her success until she takes on a difficult client. Margot is up for the challenge until she realizes her client is a former actress with a colorful history. Alec is Bianca’s son who hires Margot to coach his mother who is preparing to marry a diplomat. Bianca fears her outgoing manner may embarrass her fiancé.

Sunshine is trying to find her way in the world after numerous setbacks. She is determined to change her old impulsive lifestyle which has only led to heartbreak. She decides she wants to go to college which is an abandoned dream she has always regretted. Sunshine has always found work as a nanny although her work history has been less than stellar. Again, she is determined to not allow a man to sweep her off her feet only to abandon her. She is fortunate to gain employment as a nanny for a recently widowed father, Declan. His son Connor forms an immediate bond with Sunshine which allows him to overlook her unreliable work history.

This is a wonderful of story about two sisters navigating through life with the support of each other. The story is one of love, family, and dedication. The characters are enjoyable and although you can guess how the story ends, you are hoping for the happy ending they deserve.

Susan Mallery has written a delightful story in The Summer of Sunshine and Margot. She has written a story about starting over, romance, finding yourself, overcoming bad decisions and wrapped it all up with wonderful characters. Fraternal twins, Sunshine and Margot Baxter are very different but are both trying to make better choices and find happiness. Sunshine is a free spirit, who has had a hard time sticking with a job. She often leaves whatever she is doing to follow a man she thinks she is in love with. At present, she is working as a nanny and going back to school. Margot is very professional and works as an etiquette coach. She has wasted five years of her life with a guy that she has allowed back into her life over and over again. She is ready to move on from him and has committed to making better choices.

I loved these two ladies. Circumstances in their past molded the girls into the women they have become, yet they hope they can be more. They think there is a curse on Baxter women to never find true love, this book proves that wrong. They have such an amazing relationship and both want the best for the other. They are best friends as well as sisters. I also loved the secondary characters in the story, from young Patrick to Margot's client Bianca and the two male interests, Declan and Alec, they were all wonderfully written and developed. They added some humor and lightness to the story. Overall, the characters are real and relatable. Their problems, issues and insecurities are also realistic. I loved the flow and pacing of the story. I listened to this one throughout the day finishing it before I went to bed for the night, wanting to find out how it would end.

I listened to the audio book and was very impressed. It is no wonder as the narrator, Tanya Eby has narrated over 650 books. The voices she gave the characters allowed me to picture them as this story was performed. The slightly breathy Summer and the more sophisticated sounding Margot were perfect. The male voices were easily recognizable and even young Patrick had his own voice. A totally enjoyable experience for me. I will definitely watch for more books narrated by Tanya Eby. Thank-you Harlequin Audio for my copy of the audiobook upon my request. The rating, ideas and opinions shared are my own.
