Shirley Hailstock loves reading. She'd like nothing better than to find a corner in the library and get lost in a book, explore new worlds and visit places she never expected to see. Now as an author, she can not only visit those places, but she can be the heroine of her own stories.

A past president of Romance Writers of America, Shirley began her writing career on a dare. Taking a year to complete her first manuscript, the writing bug bit her and she discovered telling stories of love and adventure was what she wanted to spend her life doing.

I reviewed Cherish My Heart by Janice Sims

Zoologist Petra Gaines decides to spend the night with Chance Youngblood and didn’t expect to see him again. She definitely didn’t expect him to be the Investor that could potentially save the company that funds her research. Chance is a highly successful businessman in the Entertainment industry. Even though the two didn’t share their real names, conveniently going by C and Pet, Chance and Petra definitely make a connection.

Ms. Sims has written Chance as a no nonsense business man. To say he is forward is an understatement. He is also inpatient and stubborn, and he wants immediate results in all areas of his life. Petra has to make sure Chance knows she’s not a business deal he is trying to close. Petra is very passionate about her work. She’s also transparent and allows herself to be vulnerable.

Cherish my Heart is the final book featuring the Gaines Sisters, however this is my first read by Ms. Sims. Those who have followed the series, get great updates on the rest of the family. I really enjoyed reading about the relationship Petra has with her sisters. Chance also has a close relationship with his siblings (even Brock, who can be difficult). They both have a deep love for their families, and that’s a common theme for them. Overall, this is a good read and I enjoyed it.

HOUSE OF THORN - Love In New York Bk 3 [Completely captivated by his new employee, André Thorn is about to break his never-mix-business-with-pleasure rule. But (amateur photographer) Susan Dewhurst is concealing her true identity as Marcia Atherton. Although she’s falling for the House of Thorn scion, she can’t reveal the secret that could jeopardize far more than her job at the flagship New York store. She won the lottery and has over 15 million dollars. Amid André’s growing suspicions and insecurities about being duped by another gold digger, does love stand a chance?]

GAINES’ GIRLS-Cherish My Heart #5 [Zoologist Petra Gaines can’t believe the gorgeous stranger who shared her bed is the investor she needs to continue her vital (chimpanzee research) in the Congo. New York (media mogul) Chance Youngblood understands how important saving endangered animals is to Petra. Now Chance wants her to star in a television show—and turn their sizzling affair into a permanent partnership. But Petra is wary of the spotlight and wonders if their love is worth every risk after being unceremoniously dumped by her last wealthy boyfriend.]

I really enjoy a book where there’s no big fight/flareup at the end, that requires reconciliation

I enjoy reading these two books! The first book have characters that are mature and give pleasure in the read. What is it like to be suddenly rich from a small town. How do you evade the leeches? Why you go to New York City of course. Having the courage to reinvent yourself in the process, you will attract new relationships and have discernment in which is worthwhile like the heroine does and love to boot. Sometimes your deepest yearning does come true as the hero discovered. A fun read.
How do you go from working in a jungle and get thrust into the new media platforms? The next book gives you an example. Sometimes one night stands work. I appreciate reading about two people whose chemistry is so hot it kindles the embers of long lasting love. Of course there are fears to overcome, but when love show so much strength it is definitely worth the trust and faith. Read for your pleasure.
