Sygdommen til døden

Rate this book

Søren Aabye Kierkegaard was a prolific 19th century Danish philosopher and theologian. Kierkegaard strongly criticised both the Hegelianism of his time and what he saw as the empty formalities of the Church of Denmark. Much of his work deals with religious themes such as faith in God, the institution of the Christian Church, Christian ethics and theology, and the emotions and feelings of individuals when faced with life choices. His early work was written under various pseudonyms who present their own distinctive viewpoints in a complex dialogue.

Kierkegaard left the task of discovering the meaning of his works to the reader, because "the task must be made difficult, for only the difficult inspires the noble-hearted". Scholars have interpreted Kierkegaard variously as an existentialist, neo-orthodoxist, postmodernist, humanist, and individualist.

Crossing the boundaries of philosophy, theology, psychology, and literature, he is an influential figure in contemporary thought.

By not using existentialist philosophy, but through a more original Christian philosophy (we can also call it a pantheistic interpretation.), Kierkegaard told us about the human-god dualism by evaluating it in human emotional states.

Despair, anxiety, fear, and the urge to be, to overcome situations that apply everywhere for progressing through the basic concepts such as the spiritual, to control the reasons and consequences of avoiding dealing with Kierkegaard, the whole matter from his family because they had not survived the impact is evaluated in the context of Christianity. It is also possible to read placeholder christian comments. He describes despair as a deadly disease, but explains his characterization by saying that it is not the kind that kills, but the kind that makes people crawl, this disease that a person has acquired from birth. While he sees the desire of a person who is aware that he is finite to be infinite as the main reason for despair, he thinks that life connected to God is the only way to overcome despair.

In fact, Kierkegaard has left too much theory at this point. If he had evaluated despair personally in the dynamics of life, he would have seen that the way to overcome it is to destroy the systems invented by man, to destroy the moral forms of behavior developed by societies, to fight against the politics indexed to lies. In this context, the fact that he is a conservative philosopher should be his biggest contradiction.

Kierkegaard is also a name influenced by Nietzsche. Despite this, the fact that his Christian studies are very sharp, I think that he has had his own tragedy in his life...

Since this work, written from a perspective that sees despair in spirituality, constitutes the essence of Kierkegaard's philosophy, I would say read this work if you are going to start Kierkegaard.
