Hannah has known Ellen and Barbara since they shared student digs. So when Ollie, the father of her daughter Cleo, unexpectedly walks out, who better to turn to than her best friends? The reunion takes place in Ellen and husband Mark's converted farmhouse in France, where Hannah slowly becomes reacquainted with nature and, more importantly, what she really wants out of her life. Then something shockling happens, which threatens not only her recovery, but the very bonds of her friendship with Ellen and Barbara. Her loyalty is put to the test - if she does the right thing, will it blow Ellen's marriage out of the water? An why does she find herself turning to Ollie, of all people, for advice...?

Nice gentle feel-good story about three old friends having a crisis. The characters are realistic and I was quite taken with Ollie. I like this author’s books and always enjoy the Irish humour.
Ollie walks out on Hannah and Daughter Cleo to go and live with his Mother, Hannah’s world falls apart but why did he leave? Best friend Barbara gets Hannah through the first few days and they fly to France to see other friend Ellen, her husband Mark and 2 children. But are Ellen and Mark having marriage problems of their own? Something happens with Ellen and Hannah can their friendship survive? I enjoyed this book, it started off well it was funny the first few chapters were really good but I found the story did dip a little I got a bit bored with Hannah on times, however it did get better as the book went on and it was a lovely ending. Probably recommend.
A light-hearted read in the chick-lit genre and I admit I am not exactly the age of their target market. I was getting slightly irritated at all the girlie chatter (and drink), but I ended up warming to the key characters and their loyalty to each other. Would love to know how Barbara's adoption of a Russian child turned out.
I enjoyed this book. Although it was easy to read and humour throughout the moral was one of true friendship and trust. Although happiness didn't run throughout there was always hope and the feeling that friendship would win through
My favourite to date of all the Clare Dowling books I cried and laughed out loud at this book I felt the characters were really engaging and I really didn't want it to end
