I’ve read this book at least 6 times, and I still love it. My old paperback is held together with a thick rubber band. It’s about a nurse in Vietnam and what she experiences with all the soldiers she helps treat. I was in my teens during the war (from 1965–72) and remember seeing it unfold every night on the six o’clock news. Forever Sad the Hearts breaks my heart every time I read it.
I cried when I read this book many years ago. My Aunt was one of the characters in the book. She was a nurse in Vietnam. This story was written as fiction because back then they didn't allow non-fiction stories about the war to be published.
This is an excellent read, and, if you choose to hunt this book down to read it for yourself, just remember that it's based on a true story.
