While I have come to dislike the Tank Girl series, this collection seems to be the one that actually made me think that the series had some merit. It is far more toned down in terms of content, while still being humorous and tongue-in-check. I also find Brett Parsons' art to be incredibly pleasing.

I can understand fans of the series might not like this one, but, if you don't know where to start with Tank Girl, Action Alley might be a good place.

WTF did I just read? I thought I was getting female Mad Max instead I got Scooby Doo on LSD. Tank Girl, Jet Girl, Sub Girl, an amphomorphic kangaroo, koala and aardvark, go on a road trip in, you guess it, a tank to find Tank Girl’s dying mother. And they find bloody adventures along the way. It was fun, but I think that was enough.

For die hard Tank Girl fans, this brings back memories from when I first started reading Tank Girl and so for me, personally, I really loved it! It’s a little bit more human than before which brings a nice element to it but it’s also why it didn’t hit 5 stars for me as I know for some people, it’s different. I don’t think anything has ever matched Tank Girl, for me anyway!

Tank Girl goes on a cross country trip and encounters some weird stuff. This makes for a quick, fun, action filled read. Not heavy, just easygoing fun.

The art is very nice. Clean linework with vibrant colours give this something extra. And it really works with the type of story.
