SHTF #3

Run Like the Wind

Rate this book
Book Three of the chart-topping  SHTF Series  is here, and early readers say it's the best one yet!

It's still TEOTWAWKI for Tucker.

The power grid went down a month ago, and mayhem continues when food is depleted or raided, and water sources are running dry. As resources grow scarce, regular people begin to slide into savagery, especially when Tucker and Katie lose one of their own at Tullymore. Without rule of law, justice is the new law of the land, and they fall back to an eye for an eye.

Can Grayson and Olivia hold it together as their group grows larger, but one of them takes a bullet?

At Grayson's farm, training is in full force, but not everyone is comfortable with the wild, wild west their world has become. When one of their own takes a bullet, and Olivia is to blame, they must all come together before they fall apart.

Is this really the end of their world as they know it?

The streets are either eerily barren, or filled with hunger-crazed mobs. Homes are left with nothing more than blackened stone and burnt-out dreams when the help they thought had arrived does more damage, than good. But F'kn Puck is on a mission to finally be a hero; he'll either survive and persevere, or die trying.

Death is imminent, and bullets and blood fill their days as they Run Like the Wind in book three of The SHTF Series, a post-apocalyptic thriller packed with Action & Adventure.

Run!

Loved the book. This series goes beyond just a good post apocalyptic book. This is a book club book. It makes you think and ask questions. It gave you options of what to do in an apocalyptic event. Farm. Home. City. Your home in the suburbs. FEMA. Gang. What would you do? It also explores options of what kind of people you will encounter and what kind of person you will be or can be. Who you can trust. First assumptions are not always correct.

My fav quotes: “Listen here, Puck. I don’t like you,” he whispered, not able to bring his thick voice any louder. “I love you, kid. I’m sorry…and you ain’t going nowhere, you hear me? We’re your family now. I won’t turn you away just for making a mistake. I won’t turn you away at all,”

What a "R" rated Robin from the old 60's Batman and Robin tv series would say.....
“Holy f**king s**t balls son of a pe**er-headed ba**ard!!”

SHTF

So I thought I had already read the best post apocalyptic book ever until I read this series, not only is it informational, gripping, keeps you on the edge of your seat and leaves you wanting more but it’s also hilarious at times, I literally laughed so loud and hard I not only almost pissed myself but I woke my husband up at 4:30 am (his alarm was set for 5:30) when I read the part where Gabby strips naked and goes running and screaming at one of the gang members robbing them, she’s trying to throw him off guard , what better way to make a man forget what he’s even doing than a woman running naked like the hounds of Hell are chasing her , my husband was so mad he said “Do not read that authors books anymore in the middle of the night “ obviously it wasn’t the first time during this series he heard me lmao during the night, he’s safe for now but all bets are off as soon as LL Akers releases the next book in this series. Best Post-Apocalyptic series ever 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

A good third book, even with some honestly hilarious moments.
The series overall is an entertaining read, the large cast keeps everything moving relatively rapidly.
I still have the same thoughts regarding how well the author included so many different personalities, making the end of the world one complicated place to live in, aside from all the obvious dangers - you have to keep second guessing all the other survivors.

There are some triggers throughout the series to note: substance abuse, violence against women and dogs.

Run Like the Wind. L.L. Akers

Chaos would be an understatement. Murder and mayhem, a better description of the situation in America.Either comply with the people in command or suffer the consequences. No one really knows why the power grid went off. Now food, water and shelter dictates the highest priority. People have become slaves to the people in power. Now, thereis a rumor a nuclear device may be detonated to obtain further compliance.

She out did herself again!

This book is full of details and action as the characters we all came to know and love in Fight Like A Man and Shoot Like A Girl continue their journey through time after SHTF. Once you start reading it’s nearly impossible to set the book down. And that ending?!?!?! TOTAL CLIFFHANGER!!!! She leave her readers begging for more!

This is the third part of a four part series. I like the way this book ended and it leaves you and excitement for the fourth book. This book is more exciting than book number two and this book has plot twist at the second book did not have. Overall this is a good addition to the series and makes me want to read the fourth book sooner rather than later.

I keep reading it. It must be good.

I've enjoyed reading this series. The story shows how people who think have thought of everything can be wrong. No matter how carefully they prepare, they are wrong, because the human element is ignored. We fall because we are human, and humans can't bring order out of chaos.

Pull up your big Boy britches, one hell of a ride.

All the twist and turns you would expect from Lisa Akers, and a lot of pulls on all your heart strings. I can only hope you read this book and enjoy it half as much as I did.

Another awesome installment

Way too quick of a read, but another great story in this series. Coffee loss, the need to be a hero and the live for Jenny will keep me coming back. Thank you for writing realistic characters with honest reactions to terrible situations.

Excellent!

As always, Lisa, you left me wanting more! Until I read one of LL Akers books, I avoided female authors. I wrongly thought they were too lovey dovey, full of sentimental scenes, with G rated action. Wrong! Give this series a try, you'll love it!

Yay, finally!

I was waiting for this book, and even went back to re-read the first two books to make sure I was current. Great book. And it sounds like things are just getting spun up for what’s to come. Can’t wait for the next book!

The third book of the series doesn't disappoint as the action ramps up. Those intent on taking from the survivors end up taking some of the group hostage. It is up to the rest to get them back. This book keeps the pages turning with some great action sequences and strong storyline.

Way better than the hangin' from last part

So people got what they deserved in parts. Secrets exploded, Olivia is still annoying, in a, "where's Carl?", way.
Boy did you throw some zingers out! Cannot wait for next one.

So real! So scary!

This story had me on the edge of my seat from the first few pages of book one! Makes me realize how unprepared we are from this kind of attack. Only the strong will survive! Can't wait to get into book 4.

I read a lot of wshtf books. This series is well written and also has enough survival information to make keeping a notebook near by a great idea. Looking forward to the next book

I am having a lot of fun with this series. The character of Puck has many issues and I find it interesting how Grayson deals with him. Also his issues with the way his wife has handicapped them from the beginning. He seems to be learning patience. I empathize.

Lisa knocks it out of the park again!

Trouble is brewing all over: At Elmer’s farm, at Tullymore & at Grayson’s bugout location. The good guys fight a multitude of evils: a crooked HOA president, a biker gang and now, FEMA.

The drama really ramped up in this instalment, it was fast paced and non stop action. I was glued to it all the way through, but what a cliff hanger of an ending, I just hope its not too much of a wait for the next book. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

I am not going to go into too much detail here, because I have reviewed the first 2 and this has just beaten them both by being even more excellent. I am moving to number 4,after my nerves have calmed down from listening to this one!

The action ratchets up in this third installation of the series. Tullymore is under pressure and Grayson out at the farm will have some difficult decisions to make as well. The book ends on a huge cliffhanger.
