A Zealous Defense, is a legal fiction thriller set in 1983 Quincy, Illinois. It is a gritty tale in which a young attorney is tested to the limits by a criminal underworld that is attempting to influence his representation of a client charged with distribution of narcotics. The main character must balance the interests of his client with his own personal safety, all while walking the fine line between providing a zealous defense for his client and violating the law himself.
First time out of the gate for this author and throughly enjoyed Main character is a very likable guy, with a great sense of humor. I was hooked from start!
I bought the book because it takes place in Quincy, Il where I lived for 14 years. Book does not have chapters making it hard to follow. The writing was okay
The plot was interesting and well done but it lost one star because I am a language Nazi and grammatically AND etymologically there were quite a few errors.
