Discover a crime thriller which will captivate you till the stunning ending.
In the Spring of 2006, Aldous Asquith, The Assassin, escaped from a mental hospital just outside London, and then...just vanished. The Year is 2010 and the British Monarchy is under threat. Who will MI6 turn to now?
Took me a while to meld with this writers word choices and writing style. Wasn’t sure which century we were marching across on the pages at times. The story and challenge of answering the question “where is this author going with this?”, however, kept my interest enough until I found myself unable to toss the book (my inclination after the first few chapters). However, much to my chagrin, found myself full enthralled with the never ending pursuits of Aldrous, including the near destruction of London in his achievements and seeing just how he saved the Queen. I lamented the deaths of Harry and the Duke of Windsor, hoping it had actually been Charles (sorry Charles) and that Diana were still with us (it’s a book. I can dream and besides, the silly hats do nothing for Camilla and Diana did everything for the hats). Irregardless, found the book quite interesting. Jack Parker’s mirth is quite quirky. His writing style pretty much the same. His imagination a bit boyish in his desire to destruct and survive. But all in all, makes for a good reAd. Enjoy.
I realise that I have made this book four star and I did really like it, however, as an retired RN senior NCO I really grated at some of the terminology used when you were sinking HMS Belfast in the Thames. HMS Belfast??? Armour plating of varying thicknesses, at the water line and below, sunk with a silly little craft. Make it believable, please. Look, I know it is a dreamed up fictional story but I am sure it would not take a great deal of research to gather the correct shipboard terminology for such things as; walls/bulkheads, floors/decks, stairs, ladders. There are others but I can't recall them all now. So there you are Jack Parker, you keep readers going along at a rare pace but a little more accuracy within the fiction would be appreciated.
Jack Parker writes of espionage and counter terrorism so well I could have been in the middle of each scene. The only reason I lowered the review to 4stars was the insane number of grammatical errors. Too many words were left out or were wrong for the context. It broke my reading bubble and frustrated me countless times. A human should have the final read before launching a novel, not a computer.
I read all of the books in the series and while they storyline has several strong themes ..none seem to coalesce within each novel or the series. There is a 5 star story within but it's lost to poor editing
This story is filled with action, honor, lust, betrayal and much, much more. This author has done a magnificent job in penning this dry your. Great Read for mystery lovers and Rhodes who enjoy the twists and turns that twist back.
Parker needs a new reviewer. Many misspelled words, missing words, and incorrect words. Words like though, thought and through seemingly used randomly for each other . Quite distracting.
Worst grammar and spelling of any book I have ever read
Book was a good mystery. Was an absolute pain to read due to the atrocious grammar, misspelled words and missing or incorrect punctuation. Has he never heard of proofreading? A real struggle to read.
An astonishing large number of spelling, grammatical and sentence errors; seems as perhaps no one proofread the book, ruined the flow of the story, too bad since it had significant potential.
