From award-winning NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author Jane Porter comes her new heartwarming, feel-good holiday novel filled with hope and Christmas magic! She's swearing off men, but the rules don't apply to him Charity Wright has a history of picking the wrong guys and has decided to swear off men for the month of December – no dates, no kisses, no holiday romance. Great idea, in theory, until she meets the man that could be her Mr. Marietta native and professional baseball player Quinn. Just out of a long-term relationship, Quinn Douglas isn’t looking for love at the Little Teton Resort, and he certainly isn’t interested in a girl from home. But now that he's met Charity, he can't get her out of his mind. Charity even has him re-thinking his career and life on the road. Is Charity the missing piece he's been looking for?
Born in Visalia, California, I'm a small town girl at heart. I love central California's golden foothills, oak trees, and the miles of farmland. In my mind, there's nothing sweeter in the world than the heady fragrance of orange blossoms on a sultry summer night.
As a little girl I spent hours on my bed, staring out the window, dreaming of far off places, fearless knights, and happy-ever-after endings. In my imagination I was never the geeky bookworm with the thick coke-bottle glasses, but a princess, a magical fairy, a Joan-of-Arc crusader.
My parents fed my imagination by taking our family to Europe for a year when I was thirteen. The year away changed me (I wasn't a geek for once!) and overseas I discovered a huge and wonderful world with different cultures and customs. I loved everything about Europe, but felt especially passionate about Italy and those gorgeous Italian men (no wonder my first very Presents hero was Italian).
I confess, after that incredible year in Europe, the travel bug bit, and bit hard. I spent much of my high school and college years abroad, studying in South Africa, Japan and Ireland. South Africa remains a country of my heart, the people, the land and politics complex and heart-wrenching.
After my years of traveling and studying I had to settle down and earn a living. With my Bachelors degree from UCLA in American Studies, a program that combines American literature and American history, I've worked in sales and marketing, as well as a director of a non-profit foundation. Later I earned my Masters in Writing from the University of San Francisco and taught jr. high and high school English.
I now live in Seattle and Hawaii with my three sons. I never mind a rainy day, either, because that's when I sit at my desk and write stories about far-away places, fascinating people, and most importantly of all, love. I like a story with a happy ending. We all do.
Anyone who enjoys contemporary, heartwarming romance will probably, like me, love this delightful addition to the Marietta romances. There are so many familiar families, characters, events and places in the story, it is like visiting a community you know well and feel at home in. If you've not read any of the stories set there, you're really missing a treat! As usual, even though so much is familiar to me now, you really can read and enjoy this story without knowing any of the others - but I suspect it will certainly tempt you to read more in future.
In this story, Charity Wright is one of the Wright sisters who grew up on Chance Avenue and she still lives there with her parents now. She's had another failed relationship and is really fed up. When her travel agent friend suggests Charity go to check out the Little Teton resort for her, Charity decides to go, pretending to be her friend. When she arrives she meets a handsome gentleman who is pretending to be a sports writer and, although she's sworn off men till next year, the two get on brilliantly and have platonic fun together, even though they're both attracted to the other. When it comes to time to leave he discovers she's from his home town and has no idea who he really is. This is a story which starts with impersonation and ends with romance but only after and accident, interfering ex-partners, a lovely dog and lots of Christmas trees!
I have absolutely no hesitation at all in highly recommending this book to anyone who enjoys lovely, heartwarming romances with a brilliant dose of festive spirit added to the mix. This is a story of overcoming fears, acknowledging your soul mate and taking a chance on love. I requested and was given a copy of this book, via NetGalley. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.
Not Christmas Without You by Jane Porter This story is about Charity and she's heading to check out a spa for her friend in the Tetons. She doesn't want to be around when her ex is strolling with his new girl around town. Story also follows Quinn and his baseball career and how he ends up in the Tetons. Love that they act natural when they meet at the spa and are able to be themselves. Later they discover he was from the same town Charity lives in. She does't want to get involved with him or start anything serious because he'd be on the road for 9+ months a year with the ball team. His ex girl is also in town delivering baseball artifacts for an auction but she thinks he still wnats to marry her... Misundertandings, you wonder if they can get on the same path again. Love the new location in this book as we've yet to visit in that area. Sounds like just what we'd want in a vacation spot. Love hearing of all the festivities around town and how they all celebrate. Love catching up with all the others as I've followed the towns stories for years now. Always something to look forward to. Other works by the author are highlighted at the end-in their order. I received this review book from the author and this is my honest opinion. #NotChristmasWithoutYou #NetGalley
Jane Porter is a favorite author of mine. I have read numerous books that she has written. Not Christmas Without You is a wonderful story. It is a sweet romance that is perfect to read during the holiday season. The book is a stand alone, but can be read as part of the Love on Chance Avenue series. I recommend reading the entire series to fully enjoy the characters and town of Marrieta, Montana. Charity and Quin are not looking for love, but find they cannot resist the attraction they feel when they are together. They have recently gotten out of bad relationships. I love the storyline and the characters. This book is well-written and a perfect story to get lost in on a snowy winter day.
This is a fun, touching story that left me with a warm feeling in my heart and a smile on my face. Both Charity and Quinn are amazing characters that are shaped and driven by their pasts. These two meet during a weekend stay at Little Teton Resort. Neither is who they claim to be and definitely not looking for a relationship but they just seem to click. When it turns out Charity is currently living in Quinn's hometown it seems that fate has other ideas for both of them.
Definitely a book I recommend. It's a perfect holiday escape.
This is a classic romance and I loved it. Charity and Quinn meet when both are traveling under assumed names. When they discover they are from the same small town - Marietta, yeah! - they each have to decide whether their sparks are real and can they make it work? Quinn gets there faster than Charity does. Charity, a sweet girl who needs to get some self confidence, finally learns to trust. I love Quinn's solid warmth, he feels like that strong, quiet hero that everyone needs and depends on. Charity does need some self confidence, but she knows it She knows what her childhood has cost her and she works to take steps forward. I appreciate that she's not whiny, as too many heroines who are less than confident, tend to do. I love the chance to return to Marietta and see glimpses all the characters from interconnected stories from a wide range of authors, plus more of the Douglas and Wright families. This is a story full of warmth and the time it takes to learn to trust and love. No graphic sexy-times, this is all romance of the heart. I loved it. Jane Porter fans will enjoy this and those looking for a sweet Christmas story should check it out.
Time to head to Marietta for the Holidays. I know if I hear that Jane Porter has written a Christmas book than it is going to be good. Add in some of the favorite families from my favorite fictional town and all i really want to do i sit and drink a mug of hot chocolate and read. This is the 4th book in this series but of course each book can be read as a stand alone...but who would want to do that when you can read the others and enjoy the town so much, right? In this book we get to know Charity Wright and Pro Baseball player Quinn Douglas. While they meet outside of Marietta,at a resort in Wyoming, both are from Marietta. Charity is there acting as her friend who had to back out of going on the business trip and well frankly she needed to get away after walking in on a back situation with her skunk of an ex-boyfriend. Quinn is there to decide if he wants to invest in the resort. He knows the owners from his semi-pro ball days. Only issue is Charity is there under her friend's name and her friend's job which is not what she does at all. And Charity tends to forget a times. This book was so wonderful to read. It is always nice to read a book and see some of your favorite characters from past books show up in the storyline. It's like they are coming by the say hi and waving at you. Well just know it is like that in this book. This book is going to be another one of repeat Christmas reads year after year.
Not Christmas without you was sweet and romantic but bordered on melodramatic for me. There was a nice beginning in a cozy ski lodge in Wyoming and fun confusion when both Quinn and Charity were at the lodge under false names for different reasons. Quinn was hiding from his true identity as a major league baseball player and he was instantly attracted to Charity who was taking the place of her friend who was a travel agent. Charity is a very insecure and wounded person and at times you wanted to just shake her but eventually she comes around. Quinn is a sweetheart and does most of the heavy lifting to try to win Charity over to his "team". All in all it is a sweet holiday romance with lots of small town charm and Christmas warmth and romance.
Charity Wright feels that she's the queen of bad choices in men when her latest boyfriend breaks up with her. Her feelings of self-worth takes a blow. Charity is a good and caring woman who deserves to be treated with respect. I wanted her to find that special man. Could her soulmate be Quinn Douglas? He's more than a star baseball player. I found him to be kind, thoughtful and incredibly romantic. I loved that both grew up in Marietta Montana. Whenever they are together I feel their connection. I enjoyed seeing them grow closer with the help of a stray who captured their hearts. Jane Porter has written a sweet Christmas romance that tugs at the heart strings. I always love coming back to Marietta and seeing the people who live here. It feels like home. When I finished reading Not Christmas Without You, I was smiling. I couldn't ask for more.
Jane Porter can't write a bad book. This is a delightful Christmas story set in Marietta. There were times I wanted to grab the heroine and shake her, but she finally pulled the big-girl panties on.
A heartfelt Christmas romance that you do not want to miss this season. Get your hot cocoa, warm blanket and get ready to snuggle in for this wonderful story. Charity has gone to a convention where she meets Quinn, they are both under assumed names but there is an instant connection between them. They soon find out that they are from the same town of Marietta. Charity has decided to swear off all men this Christmas season and Quinn has just gotten out of a long term relationship, neither are looking for more than being friends but their hearts are saying something else.
Loved this Christmas romance of slow building love. Visiting Marietta is always special at Christmas,I so wish it was a real town. Quinn is my new love, loved how he would not give up on Charity, even when she self doubted herself. I highly recommend this heartfelt Christmas romance.
Not Christmas Without You by Jane Porter She’s swearing off men, but the rules don’t apply to him. Charity Wright has a history of picking the wrong guys and has decided to swear off men for the month of December–no dates, no kisses, no holiday romance–a decision made all that much harder when she meets the man that could be her Mr. Right, Marietta native and professional baseball player, Quinn Douglas. Just out of a long term relationship, Quinn Douglas isn’t looking for love at the Little Teton Resort, and he certainly isn’t interested in a girl from home, but now that he’s met Charity, he can’t get her out of his mind. Charity even has him rethinking his career and life on the road. Is Charity the missing piece he’s been looking for? This is Charity Wright and Quinn Douglas's story. She’d come to this cute little Wyoming ski town to escape her heart and all the stupid decisions she’d made because Charity had a history of falling for the wrong guy. Every. Single. Time. the decision she was trying to make continue at Melk Real Estate, or was it time to find a new job? She’d been at Melk Real Estate for over three years.A trip to Wyoming sounded like the perfect break, a most welcome break. Provided she didn’t have to ski—of course she’d been skiing at Bridger Bowl, just outside of Bozeman and she’d also done a little bit of skiing at Big Sky—but she was still quite an intermediate skier, and wasn’t cut out for black diamond anything. Nervous about the future, uneasy with her deception, she leaned against the rink railing, fingers knotted together as she gazed out over the now empty ice, thinking it was probably a good thing that the travel agent familiarization trip was ending in the morning. She didn’t think she could play this role much longer. She wasn’t an actress, and she didn’t like being dishonest with Douglas. But then, she hadn’t expected to come to Wyoming and meet someone like him. Quinn was a sports writer but he didn’t look like a writer. The last time Quinn Douglas had flown into Jackson Hole he’d been with his former girlfriend, Alice, and her father Leo Sterling on their private plane, flying in from Seattle for Christmas at the Sterling’s vast Wyoming ranch with the equally impressive, sprawling ten-thousand-square-foot “lodge.” By the time they’d arrived on December twenty-third, the Sterling ranch house had already been prepped by staff for the holidays, with a fourteen-foot tree in the great room, and fresh green boughs wrapping the rough-hewn bannister railings. a man who also happen to be impossibly smart and funny and nice.He hesitated a moment then nodded. “I do like Canada. I’ve quite a few friends there.”“Is that how you got into sports writing?” “You could say that. I’ve always loved sports.” "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book." I highly recommend reading. Not Christmas Without You by Jane Porter is a wonderful well written 5 star book. Every time I finish a story based in my favorite small town of all time, Marietta, Montana, I foolishly think that I cannot possibly love this world more… and then along comes Not Christmas Without You and my heart is stolen all over again.
Both Charity and Quinn were doing a bit of undercover work for friends when they met at a resort in Little Teton. Neither thought they’d meet their forever partner since Charity is escaping Marietta for a bit after discovering that the man she’s dating is really nothing more than a cheating scumbag – who she, unfortunately, works with as well. And Quinn has made the break in a long time relationship that simply isn’t what he’s looking for in a forever woman – trouble is, she doesn’t take no for an answer and is determined to win him back by any means. Being away from home, pretending to be someone else has allowed Charity to open up to Quinn and perhaps say more than she ever would have about her past, her mistakes and her life. During their week long stay Quinn and Charity allow the comfort, the feeling of being known for who they are grow as a friendship begins. Perhaps neither thought they’d meet again, but fate often has surprises in store for us especially when the just right person comes along.
Not Christmas Without You is a beautiful romance for any time of the year, but more so at Christmas time. Without giving away details that aren’t in the cover description, I can quite frankly say that of all the stories I’ve loved from Marietta, Montana this one is probably my favorite of them all. Charity and Quinn are such real people with pasts, quirks, strengths and weaknesses that are realistic, believable and had me identifying with them each for different reasons. Although Quinn does have some elements that he’ll be dealing with, it’s mainly Charity who will face battles within herself and will need to grow outside of her comfort zone to grab at her chance at a forever happiness. Going along on this adventure with two unique and perfect for each other people was pure magic and I really didn’t want the story to end… although the ending was priceless.
We’re going to run into a lot of well loved characters in this story. And I had so much fun catching up with old friends as I got a glimpse into their lives today, after their own happy endings. Not Christmas Without You broke my heart many times, and healed it back again stronger than before. If you have ever visited Marietta, Montana then this is a must read story for you (and I rarely use that phrase). If you’ve picked this one up for the holiday feel then you’ll be introduced to a community of amazing, down to earth people that you’ll want to explore. I loved my time back in this world and would happily recommend this story to any Romance reader no matter the genre. You’ll find a touching romance, good people, a tight knit community and enough Christmas magic to last the season. Indulge yourself and enjoy.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
A beautifully written romance that I won’t soon forget.
When Charity Wright went to Little Teton Resort in Wyoming, in her friend’s place, she had no idea she would meet the man she was destined to be with. Charity‘s last relationship ended badly and she had given up on men. She was only looking for someone to talk to while she was at the resort.
Quinn Douglas was at Little Teton Resort to see if it was worth investing in. He used a different name and profession because he didn’t want everyone to know he was a popular baseball player with the Seattle Mariners.
When Charity and Quinn met, under assumed names, they formed an instant friendship where they shared a lot of personal things with each other. In the end, they shared an unforgettable kiss. When the weekend was over, Charity headed back to Marietta without saying goodbye to Quinn. Charity told Quinn that she lived in Marietta during one of their talks, so he went there looking for her. Quinn also grew up in Marietta, but didn’t know Charity. The shock came when they met again and Charity found out who Quinn really was and Quinn found out Charity used her friend Tricia’s name while at the resort. Charity and Quinn were total opposites. Charity grew up in a struggling family with an alcoholic father. Quinn was popular and loved by everyone in town. But, Quinn didn’t care about Charity’s past or upbringing. He had fallen for her and he was willing to do anything to win her over. He just needed to convince her that she was worthy of his love and attention.
This book is hard for me to review without giving away too many details. But I can say, my heart went out to Charity with everything she had gone through and how she was afraid to fall in love with Quinn. Quinn’s tragic past is something that was visited in previous Marietta books, but it is told again in this story. Even though this is fiction, I still couldn’t help thinking how a person would overcome what he went through. This book is easy to read and follow and not a detail was missed. I felt I knew the characters well and enjoyed seeing them get their happily ever after. This book is the perfect addition to the other Marietta books and a wonderful, feel good Christmas story.
My favorite quote: “Because you make me happy. Being with you makes me happy. And as we both know, life can be hard, and there are no guarantees, so we have to make the most of every single day we’re given.”
Love! Love! Love! Words fail to describe how much I truly loved reading Charity Wright and Quinn Douglas’ story in Not Christmas Without You by Jane Porter, the fourth book in her Love on Chance Avenue series. This Christmas story gives Ms. Wright a chance to find her Mr. Right and a lonely man trying to find a missing piece of his life a chance to locate it. Charity is struggling after another breakup with the wrong guy when her friend Tricia, a travel agent convinces her to pretend to be her and attend a Wyoming resort’s presentation. There Charity meets Seattle Sportswriter Douglas Quincy looking into investing in the resort. These two hit it out of the park, agreeing to be friends as the event ends. The problem is Douglas Quincy was actually Marietta’s famous Quinn Douglas survivor, baseball player and brother to McKenna and Rory. Clearing up their identities was the first thing they had to remedy, which Quinn accomplished with a visit to Marietta and his family.
Quinn was such a gentleman and down to earth person wanting to be known for the person he is, not what happened to him, what he does, or the amount of money in his bank account. Charity did not recognize him, which was a first for him and actually endeared her to him. Charity had baggage from previous relationships, leaving her with little self-confidence. Yet, Charity was kind, caring, loving, and fiercely protective of her loved ones. She needed to learn how to love and accept herself before she and Quinn could find their Happy Ever After. When an ex-girlfriend of Quinn’s appears, threatening her, Charity must find the inner strength to prove her love to Quinn. Quinn and Charity were perfect for each other. They were both caring and compassionate people. Charity saves a lost dog, giving it a home. Quinn steps in, staying longer in Marietta, to help out an injured friend who is unable to operate his Christmas Tree farm.
Ms. Porter, an amazing story teller in her own right, wrote a wonderfully sweet, emotional and moving story that is definitely not to be missed. This story is filled with sexual attraction, fun dialogue, and endearing characters. I highly recommend this book to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
I never pass up an opportunity to read a book by Jane Porter. In fact, I don't even read the book's summary prior to requesting or purchasing. Her stories are replete with palpable feelings, concrete characters, and an entertaining plot. Not Christmas Without You is the fourth book from her Love On Chance series, and it can be read as a standalone. In addition, the first three books from this grouping are quite good.
Charity Wright works as a receptionist for a small real estate firm in her hometown of Marietta Montana. One day she hopes to open up her own dress shop, since her real talents are all about clothing design. Although she is smart and beautiful, she has very low self-esteem, which prevents her from making her dreams come true. Then she meets professional baseball player Quinn Douglas, while attending a travel conference at the Little Teton Resort. They immediately hit it off and come to find out, Quinn is a native of Marietta as well. Due to an incident at one of Marietta's local tree farms, they are able to evolve their friendship into much more.
I loved the beginning of this story and getting to know both Charity and Quinn. Their respective histories are quite tragic, yet inspirational at the same time. However, over the course of the narrative, I became overwhelmed by Charity's insecurities. I really liked Quinn and his ability to give back to the town that supported him during some very trying times. The secondary characters were truly genuine and I enjoyed learning about their lives.

This is book four in the series. It is Charity Wright`s story. Charity has had just a few problems in her dating past. She has decided to forgo any romantic type involvement with men for the next month. That is all good and well until she meets Quinn Douglass. Then the no dates, no kisses, no romantic notions plan goes right out the window. Quinn is a Marietta "hometown boy". He is also a professional baseball player. He certainly is not looking for any kind of romantic involvement. He, himself, is just getting past a break up of his own. Quinn doesn't want to be smitten by Charity but he can't stop thinking about her. He even starts to wonder if this "hometown girl" might be an answer to a piece of his life that has been lacking. He's not sure if a career with life on the road is what he fully needs anymore. Charity has her own self doubt to contend with. Her life isn't where she expected it to be at he 30. Always the caretaker, can she let herself be the one who is taken care of? Maybe they are each the missing piece to the others puzzle? Love this story. I love how Quinn and Charity each fight through their own personal doubts. I love how they choose to be on the other's team. I love how them being together completes the puzzle of their lives. Very romantic and a wonderful Christmastime story!
Charity could use a change of scenery. Working in the same office as her ex, while he makes her time there miserable, she jumps at her friend’s offer to check out a resort in her place. The last thing she wants to do is stick around Marietta and watch her ex prance around with his new girlfriend.
Professional baseball player Quinn is at the Little Teton Resort under a pseudonym and posing as a sportswriter. Fresh out of a relationship, he’s not looking to get involved anytime soon. But when he meets Charity, posing as Tricia Thorpe at the resort, he’s instantly intrigued.
Although Charity can’t deny her attraction to Douglas (the name Quinn is using at the resort), she is in no position to get into a relationship and checks out of the resort without saying goodbye. But he’s not ready to let her go so easily. She had told him where she’s from: Marietta. Her name: Tricia Thorpe. And where she works: Marietta Travel. That was plenty of information to track her down. He’s in for a world of surprise when his search reveals the actual Tricia Thorpe. Not the woman who he has been unable to stop thinking about.
Not Christmas Without You was absolutely fantastic from beginning to end. Quinn Douglas didn’t have the best childhood but has become a successful professional baseball player. When a friends business is in trouble Quinn heads to Wyoming to check out the resort. Charity Wright is taking a break from men. When her travel agent friend asks her to pretend to be her for a week to check out a resort she decides to go for it to get away from the latest man to break her heart. When the two run into one another on the first day they are inseparable the rest of the trip. From ice skating to swimming to sharing their secrets the two bond. The only secret they don’t share are their real names. When Quinn finds out Charity is from his hometown of Marietta Montana he feels guilty but doesn’t get the chance to reveal his true identity before Charity leaves for home. Knowing where to find her he heads home. Will there bond grow or will insecurities and true identities keep them apart? I loved this story and could not stop reading. It was so full of emotion I laughed and cried. It’s another great read from Jane Porter!
What a gorgeous, warm, heartfelt story this is! It’s Christmas with chocolate and buttered rum and all things good. I loved it! I loved Charity and I loved Quinn. The story had me from the start and held me in its pages throughout. Set mainly in Marietta Montana, this is book four in Jane Porter’s Love on Chance Avenue series. Mind you, Chance Avenue doesn’t play much of a part in the story, which opens with Charity planning to spend a week at a resort in the Little Tetons masquerading as her friend. The story focuses on love, of course, but not just the romantic kind - families and friends play a big part in this book too. It’s wonderful to see people pitching in to help those they love, to care for those who have cared for them in the past and to support the community in which they live. Not Christmas Without You does all of that in and more, but really it is the love affair between Charity and Quinn that takes centre stage. I hoped and prayed for them as their story unfolded and cheered at the end when they finally found their happy ever after. This whole book has brought me smiles. It’s just perfect Christmas reading.
Charity Wright is looking to get away for a few days after an unpleasant breakup. Her friend Tricia has asked her to go check out a small ski resort in Wyoming called Little Teton. All expenses paid, a way to relax and forget about her ex, why not? All she has to do is pretend to be Tricia for a few days. Easy enough!
Quinn Douglas is heading over to Little Teton to check out the resort as a favor to a friend as well as a possible investment. When Quinn runs into Charity, aka Tricia, at the resort, he sees her as someone he would like to get to know. She is easy to talk to and he feels right at home with her. But will a few days of fun blossom into something more?
I was looking for lovely Christmas romance and I found it in this book! Jane has a way of creating characters that we can fall in love with and make it feel as if we are part of their family. Not Christmas Without You is a wonderful love story about two people finally finding their happy ever after. I highly recommend it!
Any story by Jane Porter is bound to be good. So reading Not Christmas Without You was not a taking a chance for me. However, it is part of the Love on Chance Series. This is Charity Wright and Pro Baseball player Quinn Douglas’ story with both meeting under an assumed identity. Both have also sworn off any kind of relationship, too. Still rose by any other name is still a rose, right? As they get to know each other, the attraction and admiration grows in spite of not knowing each other’s real name.
This is not an unusual storyline but it is so well done. I was pulled into story, the place, the people, finding that I wanted both to come clean. See what was right before them, grabbing hold and holding on for dear life. This is a Marietta romance which takes place somewhere else, I enjoyed that more than I thought that I would.
An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
It’s not Christmas without Jane Porter and a trip to the small town of Marietta, Montana. Porter has a knack for writing stories with characters and plots that touch your heart and this one is no exception. Charity and Quinn are characters that are so fundamentally human; you can’t help but fall in love with them. They are two people with so much love to give and so much in their past that they have had to overcome, they both deserve to find “their” person and happiness in their lives. This book is connected to many others Porter has written set in Marietta, and it feels like coming home and visiting family and friends for the holiday. It can stand alone, but if you have the chance, read them all. You won’t be disappointed. Grab some hot chocolate and a warm blanket, find a cozy spot to curl up, and settle in. This novel is a perfect read to get you into the holiday spirit! #NotChristmasWithoutYou #JanePorter #TulePublishing #ReadTulez
I'm pretty sure this is my first book by Jane Porter and if you are a fan of Hallmark/Lifetime movies and romance on the sweeter side then this is the book and probably series for you.
As a favor to her travel agent friend, Charity goes to Wyoming to check out a resort that is trying to boost it's occupancy where she meets Quinn (a famous baseball player masquerading as a sports writer). They spend time getting to know one another while checking the ammenities of the resort and town, then Charity returns to her hometown of Marietta only for Quinn to track her down.
I enjoyed this book, it was a feel good romance but both Quinn and Charity were just really good people and proved it pretty much every day. I liked that they were willing to help those who needed it and it came from an honest place.
If you are expecting a sexy romance, this isn't it but their relationship does build throughout and it was still a satisfying romance.
Can two people pretending to be someone else when they meet find true love when the truth comes out?
When Charity and Quinn meet, they are both using false names but not to be deceptive. Charity doesn't recognize Quinn as a famous ball player because she doesn't follow sports. She also doesn't realize he grew up in the same town as her. They spend five days together and share things they never have shared with anyone else thinking g the would never see each other again. When it's time to go, Quinn decides to follow her and see if he can convince her they belong together. Once they figure out who the other really is, can they make a relationship work? Will they realize they have more in common than they realized? This is clearly an opposites attract because he he is now famous and rich and she is still living on the wrong side of the tracks with her parents. But they both grew up with nothing so they are similar in that way.
Charity and Quinn meet under false pretenses at a travel agent event in the Little Tetons. Despite not knowing each other’s true identity, Quinn learns enough about Charity and feels enough of a connection with her to find her after the trip ends. Charity is struggling after a breakup with a bad guy. Quinn has been avoiding a girl who can’t seem to come to grips with their breakup. Can Charity overcome her insecurities to develop a real relationship with Quinn? Can they learn to trust each other despite starting a relationship under false circumstances? This is a sweet and charming story perfect to read by a warm fire on a cold night! A great addition to the Chance Avenue series but can be read as a stand alone!
This is just a fun and happy Christmas romance. This book was more or less a "sweet" romance but I never lost interest in the story and it was never boring.
Both Charity and Quinn were well written and likable characters and most of the secondary characters were also really fun to read about. A few of the secondary characters are not great people, but they were believable and I'm sure they weren't supposed to be likable anyway.
I really believed that Charity and Quinn were meant to be together by the end of the book and enjoyed watching them fall in love.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys contemporary romance.
When Charity and Quinn meet, they're using assumed names for business. Immediately attracted, their aliases allow them to share their true selves knowing they'll never see each after the resort trip. Quick friends, spending time together leads to feelings and a passionate kiss.
Quinn goes after Charity and they learn each other's true identity. Working together to help friends and on a Christmas fundraiser, their hearts know it's love. Charity must overcome self-doubt and learn to trust while Quinn has decisions to make in order for Charity to know he's in it for the long haul. Can these two bridge the distance needed in time for Christmas and find a life together after a whirlwind romance?
A charming and sweet Christmas romance I highly recommend!
Every holiday season I look forward to a new, warm and fuzzy, feel-good Christmas read from master storyteller Jane Porter and once again, I am very satisfied with her offering! Porter always delivers stories with the best heroes and I fell in love with Quinn Douglas from the moment he stepped into the story. But there's so much more in this story besides a tall and gorgeous hero. Not Christmas Without You is packed with memorable characters, a heartwarming plot and all the charm and glitter of Christmas, complete with an adorable dog named Rusty Noel. If you're looking for a great book to lose yourself in, grab your soft and plushy blanket and a cup of cocoa and curl up with Jane Porter's Not Christmas Without You! Highly recommended.
This adorable novel begins with Charity and Quinn under false identities while staying at a resort in Wyoming. They spend the weekend together and share so much. They realize they both grew up in the same town of Marietta. After the weekend is over, they are still thinking of each other. Quinn goes to Marietta to find her. He isn’t going to let her go.
They both struggle with damage from the past and they need each other. Quinn is is a true man and is willing to do what it takes to make Charity happy.
The books set in Marietta can be read as standalones but if the reader is familiar with them, it is so fun to be brought back to the small town! Characters pop in and out and new ones are introduced. If you’re looking for your Christmas HEA, you’ll find it here!
So when Charity and Quinn first meet at a travel convention they were both there using fake names with good intentions, so they are enjoying each other’s company for four days and even falling for each other not even knowing their real names and then convention is over and it’s not likely they will ever see each other again right, WRONG! This was such a scrumptious read I wish I could give it ten stars for taking me back to Marietta and the way it made me feel, like all my feel good emotions were just bubbling to the top, warming me through and through like a good hot bowl of stew on a chilly night.
