Born to a respected family, seventeen-year-old, English beauty Vieve Donnelle always gets what she wants. But when word arrives that her father's estate isn't as wealthy as it appears, the noble heiress must rethink her betrothal to an impoverished aristocrat. Enter Captain Tyson Gervais, an infuriating colonial sea captain traveling to England for business in foreign trade. Despite high tensions between England and the colonies, Vieve can't resist thinking about the dashing American merchant who elicits such conflicting reactions from her--making her feel both the sensual temptress and the childish fool in the same moment. Tyson never imagined he'd be dallying with a spoiled noble, but Vieve's young, tempting curves seduce him against his better judgment. Though he knows a designing woman can wreak havoc, he aches for the chance to claim one as his own. Spanning two countries in the Georgian era, ROGUE'S LADY is a sexy tale of forbidden love that fans of romance will devour. I hated this book but I finished it. I was disguted by the way she fell in love with him despite his ill treatment. The behavior of nearly every male character in this book was disgusting and juvenile. A total waste that even a so called "happy" ending couldn't redeem.

(author aka Robyn Carr) It took me awhile to get into this historical romance but midway it picked up and had a good finish so 3.5* I didn't like hero's initial treatment of heroine but he sufficiently atoned. American Tyson travels to England looking for shipping trade and meeting beautiful Vieve.
First, the book says that Robyn Carr is the author and it was published in 1988. I'm not a big fan of a storyline that includes a girl that gets ruined before her wedding and then spurned by her husband. It's just not a story line that I enjoy. That being said I liked the last third of the book.

THE LURE OF INNOCENCE Vieve Donnelle always thought of herself as a girl who knew her own mind. But ever since she met Captain Tyson Gervais, her days were full of confusion and her nights were plagued by tantalizing dreams and half-understood yearnings. The handsome American made her feel the womanly temptress and the childish fool all in the same moment. And the breathtaking desire she felt at his touch made her doubt she'd ever regain control of her destiny -- or her heart!
THE POWER OF PASSION Tyson was both amused and beguiled by the willful English beauty. Innocence shone from her startling blue eyes even as she beckoned him with unwitting feminine wiles. He'd come to England to do business, not to daily with an unworldly slip of a girl, but somehow he couldn't resist the lure of her creamy, silken skin and her lush, tempting curves. And though he dreaded the havoc a designing woman could wreak, he found himself aching to take her for his own, to hold her in his demanding embrace, proclaiming to the world that she was a ROGUE'S LADY
