Now that the secret is out, Rae Kerrigan is determined to find her mother. No amount of convincing from Devon, or the Privy Council, is going to make her believe her mother is not alive. Working with Devon and Luke against the PC’s wishes, Rae will stop at nothing to find her.

Torn between friendship and loyalty, Rae must also choose between Luke and Devon. She can’t continue to deny, or fool herself, any longer. The heart wants what the heart wants.

When the Privy Council begins to question her motives and scrutinizes her every move, she soon finds herself under fire.

Wanita May grew up in the fruit belt of Ontario - St.Catharines. Crazy-happy childhood, she always has had a vivid imagination and loads of energy.

The youngest of six -- four older brothers, and a sister -- taught her at a young age to be competitive in all aspects of life.

At sixteen, she began competing in athletics (track and field) and before she turned seventeen, she was representing Canada in high jump. She continued to compete, breaking Canada's JR High Jump record (1.92m - 6' 3 1/2" for those metric-ly challenged). She attented University of Toronto, and Kansas State University - winning CIAU's and becoming All-American 6x - NCAA Indoors Runner Up + more.

But you're not interested in her athletic career - unless of course you're curious to know she stands 1.70m (5'7") and has jumped 20cm over her head on more than one occassion. She's represented Canada at the World Championships, World Jrs., won Francophone Games, and loved every minute of every competition. From the grueling workouts, the crazy weights she lifted on her back, the days she thought her lungs were going to spit out of her mouth for lack of oxygen, the travelling around the world and the opportunity to read - her favourite past time.

Life continued with her husband (a distance runner from Liverpool, UK, who she met at KSU) and then their first, then second and finally third child. Their house became full of more imagination and stories.

Wanita and her husband run an online business, dealing in antiques and collectables - particularly jewelry and porcelain (one of the business' website: www.wadeincanada.com ).

After her father passed away in 2009, from a six-year battle with cancer (which she still believes he won the fight against), she began to write again. A passion she'd loved for years, but realized life was too short to keep putting it off.

Her first book, Rae of Hope - from the Chronicles of Kerrigan - will be available October 2011 by kNight Romance Publishing.

She is currently represented by Dawn Dowdle of Blue Ridge Literary Agency. Wanita is a writer of Young Adult, Fantasy Fiction and where ever else her little muses take her.

The heroine: Rae Kerrigan - has a Tatù that gives her the ability to mimic the Tatù’s of people she has touched at some point. She recently figured out that she also has her mother’s Tatù, which is that of fire and to not be burned by fire she creates.

The Hero(es): Devon - he confessed his Love for Rae at the end of the last book.
Luke - Worked for the Xaviar Knights and found a box that Rae thinks can be opened by the Key she was directed to by clues her mother left her.

Supporting characters:
Bethany - Rae’s mother who may or may not be dead
Carter - President of the Privy Council who was in love with Rae’s mother.
Julian - Friend to both Devon and Rae. Julian has the gift of future visions. He is the one person Rae has always trusted.
Molly - Rae’s former. Her Tatù is electricity. She loves to shop acts as the stylist for Rae and Devon while they go to the parties and luncheons with the Prince and his fiancé.

The Story: Rae thinks her mother may still be alive and is determined to find out more information. Though, nobody in the Privy Council believes her. Supposedly her mother died in the fire she started when Rae was six years old. She set the fire in order to kill her husband Simon Kerrigan who was crazy and determined to rule the world.

However, now that Rae has her mother’s power, she knows that she can start a fire and not get burned by the flames so she assumes her mother could not have died in the fire she started. She thinks the burned female body was Kraigan’s mother and not hers, since Kraigan mentioned his mother had disappeared around that time.

This book had the best story so far. I don’t want to give anything away, but so much happened in this one and so many things were revealed.

Better. The writing and story is tighter than previous books and the characters are more believable than in the last installment.

MORE LIKE A RANT:

What an improvement?! Good job WJ May for this installment. I can't believe I would ever say those words. Lol.
After the previous 4 books in this series, I never thought I would immensely enjoy reading an entire book of the Chronicles of Kerrigan. There are a few eye rolls I can't help whenever Rae whines or only thinks about herself, but I'm used to it. Rae's character grew on me. She won't be Rae without those annoying attitude. Though I hope that her character continues to grow and not go back to the Rae I first met.
I love how WJ May took on Rae-Devon's relationship this serious. I see now a realistic conflicts they been goin through and how they both came to terms with it.
Also the plot twist are amazing. The surprises kept me on edge, and that was good; sometimes even how exasperating a book is, one great plot twist could change one's opinion. And this is it for me.
I truly hope the next book is as good as this, because I like this one.

Respect my opinion and I'll respect yours.
Always,

OMG talk about a cliff hanger... I will say I did pick a certain character to be the bady, but was hoping not to be! Come on December so we can read more! This series has really got me in and I do love 'series books'. I would like to mention how clean these books are. I have 4 children ranging from 17- 13 and I have recommended that they read this series (we love this genre!) We will definitely be checking out more books from this author. Mwah

Like the others in this series there is a lot of nothing happening for most of the book. The action and information to progress the story happens in the last few chapters.

Wow. Amazing. This has to be my favourite book of the series;

JUST READ IT.... ALL of THEM!!!!

Shock inducing, fast paced, romantic, sweet, tear jerking, heart wrenching, gasp making, book screaming, Page Turning, cliff hanger of a book!

We follow Rae as she continues on her journey to finding out the truth about if her Mom's actually still alive and if she is, why hasn't she contacted Rae in the past 12 Years?!?

With a little help, love and support from the most surprising of people, the truth quickly comes spilling out of all places and people....Throwing in a couple of nice twists for good measure...

WJ May certainly knows how to leave her readers wanting more... Fabulously written.

I cannot wait for the final book in The Chronicles of Kerrigan Series....

I enjoyed this book. I love that Devon and Rae are together and I'm even happier that Rae found her mom. I could not believe Jennifer wanted to kill Rae mom. I'm so excited for end of sight in December I can hardly wait. I hope that Rae and Devon continue to be together thought out the next book and hopefully there relationship goes to the next level.

First of all, I don't understand why this book was only 15 chapters long! However, with that being said, a lot happened in those 15 chapters of this fifth book in the Chronicles of Kerrigan Series, Under Fire. It picked up right where the fourth book left off, and if you read it, you'd know that the cliff hanger of the fourth book was just unbelievable.

The start of this book was just unfathomable. I did not guess that this book was going to start off the way that it did, but I was very pleased that it did. The book hit the ground running the storyline and the action. I absolutely loved that the humor and entertainment did not dwindle in this book. As the story continued, it just kept getting better and better with the plot twists. W.J. May does an excellent job of writing that it puts you in the position of feeling the emotions and evening sympathizing with the characters. I'm pretty sure I've said it in my other reviews of the previous books in the series, but I become emotionally invested while reading these books.

All I can say is that this book had plot twist after plot twist and I enjoyed every minute of it because it made me want to keep turning the page. I could not put this book down and when I did, I was thinking about the story and the plot and what could happen. This book is so action packed with the right amount of romance, that it just such a good book.

I absolutely love the character development up to this point. I looked back on my reviews of the previous books before writing this and in the review of the third book I noted that I wanted more from Rae. Let me tell you, since that book, I have seen such character growth in her that is just so pleasing. I am glad that she is the character that she has become now. Ending this fifth book, all I could think was, "Yes, finally. Rae made things happen in this book." I appreciate the journey and the hardship that she had to go through in order to become the character that she is. As for the development of the characters, of course they're good and they complement Rae and the storyline. I don't have much to say because I don't want to give away too much.

Overall, this is an excellent quick read that I highly recommend. I highly recommend the series. It's action packed, excellent storyline, excellent plot twists, great characters, and good humor. Can't say anything else except that I look forward to reading on!

I had the ebook and I also listened to some on Audible. Love that the Boxset had the first 6 books of this series. There is a total of 12 in this series and then 6 or so more with a spin-off series; which is really still this series because it’s the same main character, so there’s 12 more books to read to get the full story. Then more spin-off books with some other characters too. The narrator was good; her accent was a little weird at times, but overall she did a great job. I enjoyed the listen. It was nice having the ebook too though.

Overall, the series was entertaining and fun! Love all the powers the characters have! Some really cool tatùs (magical tattoos); healing, fire, electricity, super speed, plus so many more! Loved all of that! There’s also a super sweet romance! This is mostly YA, but there are some light adult elements in these first 6 books. I read all 6 books in a row, and I didn’t get sick of the story, so that a major plus. The story doesn’t start out very original, but it has enough unique elements throughout the series to make the book its own story. It can get a little repetitive and there were times the characters should’ve know something they found out in a previous book, but didn’t. Still overall, lots of interesting ideas going on. I’ll do a brief review of each of the books. There will probably be spoilers in this review for the previous book.

Rae is on a quest to find out more about her mom, but in the last book, Luke was attacked before he could tell Rae anything. Rae is in for some major surprises in this book; surprises that don’t help her trust issues. Devon is totally adorable in this one and I love how he’s finally putting Rae first in his life. It’s nice to see their romance progress to the next step. By this point, I think Rae is 19ish and it’s been years, so it’s about time. Molly has really grown on me and I’m loving her in this one. Still tons of adventure and fun in this one!

Once again, the storyline was eventful and full of action. I half expected the bad guy to be who it was because that has been how the story has been going so far. I’m glad she found her mom and that she’s such a bad-ass. I was also happy that Rae and Devon got back together as well, they seem to be connected to each other beyond their control. Just like in Rae of Hope, Dark Nebula, House of Cards and Royal Tea, the story kept me guessing most of the time. As before, there were times that I predicted certain outcomes but mostly I was kept on the edge of my chair again. If you would like to read more about my thoughts on the world that the author created, then you can read my previous posts on this series, especially Rae of Hope.

I was excited for Rae to find her mother, if she was truly still alive, and what that would bring to the story line. I was glad to see her finally pick between Luke and Devon, and hope that they both stay in the story no matter what because I have grown to like both of them. I am loving where this book is heading and allowing Rae to piece together even more of her past. In the last few books, I was not for sure that I still enjoyed Devon as much as I did in the first books. However, he really starts to come around in this one. I am loving how each book seems to draw out more of her past and help her to piece things back together.

The action is just never ending. This really shows who a person's true friend is. 🧡 Rae and Devon seem to maybe be able to stay in a relationship, which was definitely a laugh when Molly finds out. 🤔

A miracle has happened for Rae, but also more questions are needing answers. Poor Luke got caught in the crossfire of finding answers for her.

I go completely enthralled in the memory of what happened the day of the fire. All I can say, the title fits perfectly 👌 for this book. So much of it was used in this book. I'm a little confused about the ending, but it's only because who the "person" is.

Onto the last of the series and hoping it's a happy ending 😊

Fun engaging storyline reminiscent of Harry Potter magic. However you don't get to hear of the actual classes and information she learns at the pseudo school of music and this was the biggest disappointment. You can't help but compare it to Harry Potter with questions left at how exactly their society is run.

#spoiler#
I'm not exactly sure if it was really explained by the people with powers could not procreate. Seems impossible to avoid really

Interesting read. The first encounter between Luke and Devon almost caused me to stop. Fortunately, a wise woman name Wanita convinced me to continue. Beyond that, there were a few predictable points. Nonetheless, the story unfolded in a delightful manner. I hope that you enjoy it at least as much as I did.

Action-packed. Entertaining. Scary. Tear-jerker. Tragic. Twisted. Wonderful characters.

Wow I can’t believe I read this so quick once I started I couldn’t stop only 2 days to read with work in between lol if not I would have finished the same day. The series is getting better less grammatical errors in this book Who does the proof reading before publishing? We need to talk!!! Lol The story had me guessing then laughing and then talking to myself at the obvious scenarios. Great job starting the next book once I’m done here.

Its the characters that let the book down for me... The author tries to inject humor but it feels off.

The characters are very awkward and the Narration for either the Scottish (i think its meant to be) sounds just plain weird....

The story was ok.... Again characters actions are a bit odd.

I will read the next book as i have it on Audio but.... I Don't think i will carry on after that....
