I’ve been called all of these, except my true name—a secret I’ve never learned.
I was groomed for a life of captivity; brought up as a slave for the exclusive club, Exotique. I’m desired for my body and thirsted after for my addictive blood. I’m stripped and restrained while male after male acts out his twisted desires.
I’m constantly at war with myself while my inner beasts battle for dominance. The succubus half of me craves these sessions. She longs for the toxic mix of pleasure and pain, feasting on the release of others. My phoenix half lies dormant. She's a silent presence who shudders at the crack of a whip, and shies away from the cruel hands of my handlers.
While I suffer through countless degrading sessions, somewhere far away a trio of Phoenix warriors are sanctioned by their King to find and rescue me. Will they succeed? Or will one of my handlers finally take a session too far?
Their race is dying, but so am I.
Bound for Blood is book one in the Feathers and Fire series. It is a Dark, Paranormal, Reverse Harem romance. The final book ends with an HEA. Expect dark elements and explicit scenes.. If such scenes might trigger or offend you, please do not buy this book.
I wouldn’t touch this book again with a 10 foot pole.
Look imma come out and say it: if you’re going to write a book about the MC being a sex slave, give it some life. Make me feel sympathy for her. Make me want to cry for her pain. Make me want to sew up the entrance to my vagina in solidarity to her abuse. Don’t make her sound like a lifeless bitch who actually enjoys the torture???
The whole book was just that: lifeless. TERRIBLE.
The men: cringeworthy. The MC: a whole lot of nothing The plot: lol ya no thanks.
EVERY OTHER PAGE is just men or HERSELF (the most annoying part, truly) commenting on her luscious body, her ass, or her boobs. Which I mean... WE GET IT. She’s got a nice body.
We don’t need to hear about it every other sentence??? ^^ y’all think I’m kidding. Read this shit for yourself to find out lol I’m not lying.
I wouldn’t waste my time reading this. Nooooope.
Also, zero editing. AND ALL THE EXCLAMATION POINTS! Exclamation points for everyone! We love exclamation points! Go team! ^no we fucking don’t love exclamation points. Good books aren’t drenched in exclamation points. Put that shit away and use periods. A few ! here and there is fine. But! Not! Every! Other! Sentence!
Rating: ZERO. Nothing, nada. Excuse me while I barf, snort and roll my eyes at the same time.
Alright, Alright. Brandy did say it was bad but it was already on my Kindle and I went to read more reviews and got curious blah blah blah. #Excuses Results? My non lavender colored face is contorting itself with various expressions of disbelief. cue eyeroll and big overly dramatic sigh
So yeah, I did not finish this book and if I may be honest, I dropped it quite early.
Because this book is ridiculous and the worshiping and consensual sex made me much more uncomfortable than any of her slave sessions.
Bound For Blood made me 1,000% uncomfortable. Cringing at every possible moment just to make sure that this book was real.. and that I was actually reading it. I don't often have regrets when it comes to books.. but this one definitely takes the cake for it.
Besides wanting to gouge my eyes out, I feel like nothing really happened. Other than the girl being a sex slave to this psychotic guy.. pretty much nothing happened. I feel like I am numb to world now due to this book. I have no words.
Overall, don't read this book. If you do.. you will most likely dnf it. I have no idea how I even finished it. Pray for my soul guys.
Too bad there are not zero stars. All the hype and the right mood convinced me to give this a shot, but... yeah. I will keep this short...
Nope.
(To be read as: Hell no.)
I read and enjoy plenty of seriously dark and twisted romance--including plenty that contain dubious consent. Even rape. (Which this gem has in spades). But there has to be some other redeeming value. Sizzle? Tension? Lesson to be learned? Hate-to-love? Great chars? Interesting/intriguing story?
And again, afraid the answer is Nope.
This needs a serious and hard critical edit to find the story buried beneath the gratuitous and passionless prose (and to clean up said prose). I am guessing there must be one there with so many positive reviews. But I could not wade through far enough to find it.
This one did not even induce enough humorous eyerolling to bait me into continuing.
I did not get far.
Beware, neither might you, if you enjoy powerful dark romance. This one wasn't that.
This is a DNF. I couldn't force myself through anymore. I'm uncertain which part is causing so many people to rave over it, but it definitely wasn't in the first 60%. There are so many things wrong with this book I barely even know what was the worst part of the uphill battle. I struggled to maintain focus or interest for more then two pages at a time. Two long and painful pages of forcing myself to read, promising myself the writing will get better. Spoiler Alert: It doesn't! It's supposed to be dark, it has issues that are normally dark--but she didn't write them that way. The rape scenes, for example (explicit rape scenes) were written as if it was out of a love scene--minus all the 'sluts' and 'whores' name calling. But since when do the rapists/abusers talk about how much they're going to make their victim come? Or going down on them? Or concerned for the victims enjoyment? It was confusing. Something that should be disgusting, wasn't. Demeaning? Yes. Vile and Evil? No. This book needs a lot of cleaning up: revisions and rewrites.
I have read my share of kidnapped and held captive books. This one didn't feel as 'dirty' since the Leading Lady was part Succubus so she fed off of the interactions though at the same time that allowed the author to normalize the rapes... make us feel like hey being a sex slave isn't so bad after all.. which was slightly creepy. I didn't feel a connection with the characters. I doubt I will continue with the series.
This was so intense and I loved every minute of it. I can't believe everything that Trinity has gone through. I want the guys to make everything good for her.
I tried, I really did, I pressured myself through as mutch as I could tolerate, but I reached my limit.
There is just one positive thing I can say about this book. It started out from the point of view of villain. I found it refreshingly unique. For the first few pages.
The rest of what I got through disgusted me more and more with every page I suffered through. There is overwhelming abundance of repetitiveness. Author describes over and over, and over how lush the body of slave number eight is. Every f..ing paragraph of every f..ing page! Then the repetitive sexual and physical abuse. Again and again, and again in an never ending cycle. Maybe, if the intended audience are people who get off on bloody sex and murder, this may be up their alley, but for normal people it is hard to stomach. The blips of the victim getting aroused and orgasm from all this torture while screaming herself hoarse from pain and horror are even more disturbing.
I got past the point in the book, where possible saviour showed up. I guess I was supposed to root for him, but I just couldn't. In my eyes someone who purchase a slave for a night and then engages in sexual activities with someone who can't refuse these advances, is not a hero. She had no choice and faced severe consequences for even voicing objection, so him being gentle means absolutely nothing. I abhor him and his actions and in no way I would be able to root or even accept them as mates. In my eyes he is just as disgusting as the rest of them. I got as far as a "rescue" from vampires, before I decided I have enough. I have zero interest if victim will survive and to be honest, I hope she died. However there are more books in these series, so I know my hope is futile. So I decided to off her in my mind and put this story away as something that never should have been written.
BTW, the writing is mediocre, but readable enough , so that sometimes in very far future I may give this author another chance.
Definitely DO NOT recommend this shite to anyone with normal psyche.
I was so excited to read this book, especially after all the high reviews. I absolutely love dark themes. But this just fell short. I felt like the author was just going for shock value with so many dark elements. It was all about the shock value first and storyline second, never a good thing. The dark elements did not support the storyline and enhance it in a lot of places, they were all just scenes in the book. When the story switched from the dark themes to the storyline it felt juvenile in the way it was told, like a very young adult. Also, there were many places in the book that struggled with telling vs showing the story. Lastly, the dramatic cliffhanger at the very end...left me very dissatisfied... Good experienced authors learn that if the story is solid, good enough, and comes to a decent ending, readers will be excited to read what the author has next. They feel a sense of satisfaction and curiosity about the next book. Inexperienced authors rely on cliffhangers to manipulate readers to get the next book, they aren't capable yet of coming to a plausible or suitable ending. Books like that don't usually stay around long. The story had the potential to be really great, it had the dark elements and a good plot. It was just dragged down by the shock value of too much. Moderation of that, a good primary storyline and having more closure to this book and it would have been fantastic.
Oh wow. Wow wow wow! This book shocked me, shook me and hooked me. The FMC is stronger than you can imagine - or SHE can even imagine. Contrary to my normal book fare, this novel offers a true damsel in distress scenario - but it’s a gut wrenching one that will wreck you, and somehow shows her to be anything but a damsel in distress. Oh, She needs saving, but there is a fierce innocence in her eventual freedom - and a courage that belies the circumstance she literally grew up in. Warning!! This book is incredibly sexually explicit, detailing moments of non-consent, torture, bondage and true rape. Be aware of this BEFORE you pick it up! And know, that despite these inclusions in this tale, the author in no way, shape or form, romanticizes such actions. Instead, they show the monster beneath the mask.
Pros: - Exceptionally well written - Edited well - FMC is freaking unbelievable - The phoenixes... - World building
Cons: - Hard to read only due to content. - Cliffhanger!!! Why?! Why?! Lol, *sigh* 🤷♀️🥺
This book was FIRE. I loved everything about this. I have actually loved every book by this author so far and have been pleasantly surprised every time. This book had so much naughty elements, darkness and romance. I need more!!!! 5 stars!
⚠️ Please note that this book is DARK. There is noncon and dubcon scenes. And a lot more that I won't mention for spoiler reasons. If you do not like dark books, don't read.
Now - I think this was an excellent start to a writing career. It's a debut novel, so I don't think anyone should expect pure perfection. There are a couple of things that could have been fleshed out, or that seemed a little confusing due to the circumstances. But the writing was well done, I enjoyed the story, and the cliffhanger made me want to throw my Kindle across the room. I'm looking foward to reading the next book to see what happens next! ❤
Dark. Erotic. Paranormal. Rh. 3 shifters. Mate bond(very sexual). BDSM. Slaves. Captured. Multi POV. Trigger Warning. Slave Eight was taken from her crib as a babe by a Worlock for his brothel of rare creatures. She has only known the inside of the room she lives in and the darkness behind the blindfold. Hot very hot. If your into humiliation, bondage, and noncon well this may just turn you on. 😘 I very much enjoyed it. Hope you will too. Ends on a cruel cliffhanger. That poor girl.
This book is dark and raw, the abuse trinity (slave 8) goes through whilst imprisoned is rough but god did I enjoy reading it. Being a mix of succubus and Phoenix our main girl feeds of the sexual energy from her abusive encounters. I loved the multiple POV including one from one of the min villains, thought that was a great addition. Loved the three Phoenix warriors. The sex scenes were hot despite the heroine being restrained and blindfolded against her will. I cannot wait to see what happens next, this book was action packed.
This is a must read for any Dark RH fan. There's definitely things that could trigger those with more delicate sensitivities. Which for me was plus!! Loxley truly creates an incredible story where you get drawn in to the world. Personally I wasn't sure if I want the bad guys or the good guys to win, but I'm a messed up cookie who loves the kind of scenes that leave you feeling dirty and wondering if you need to see a therapist. I am seriously looking forward to reading all the other expected releases from this author!
I get it that everyone wants her; it drives the whole damn book. Almost every male in the book is a force vying for a piece of her, I get that. But what does the chick do when she finally is in the hands of her Fated-mates, the guys who rescued her, has the chance at happiness?? Does she "strengthen" the bond with them to make sure they and she are stronger?? No, she is shy . . . She was a sex slave for 2 decades and she is SHY. I don't know. She even says she is comfortable and all, but it's just a very frustrating thing to me.
So much YES! Bound for Blood hit all of the right buttons for me in terms of plot, pace, and content.
The story really worked and flowed seamlessly throughout the book. Trinity is the last hope for the survival of her kind, being a Phoenix, but she is trapped and enslaved by a madman. She has also forgotten everything about her past. Her life changes one day when a male phoenix comes long, and a rescue ensues.
I thought that the story fits right in and holds its own amongst some of the well known dark romances out there. It uses all of my favorites tropes in the genre, and presents them in a way that I actually found unique to other stories. I didn't feel like I was reading something that I've read before.
One of the main things I look for in a dark romance is the ability for the reader to connect to the characters on a deep level. Stories in this genre have extreme highs and lows, and are usually a rollercoaster of emotions. This book was no different. It's dark, it's sexy, and it provokes powerful feelings on both ends of the spectrum. The lows were dark AF and sometimes hard to read because of their brutality. The author, however, counters it with very satisfying glimmers of happiness and pleasure. Prepare to be shocked and satisfied!
The only scene that didn't really fit with the flow of the story was the shower scene near the end. It felt really forced and random, not that I'm complaining, of course! Trinity had just spent the entire time up until that point in a generally dark and meek temperament. Then out of nowhere, she turns into a bit of a high school girl I guess is the best way to describe it. It came across as out of character.
There was some POV issues for me too. Sometimes, a point in time would be replayed 2 or 3 different times, to account for each character's perspective. It felt a bit bandersnatch-y at one point, because you would read a scene from one perspective, then the story would rewind and you'd get the scene from another's perspective. It made the story a little choppy in a few places.
But that's really small potatoes in the grand scheme of the story itself. Everything else was amazing, and I would definitely recommend it if you're a lover of dark romances.
Send this book to Eli Roth for inspiration for his next movie!
The majority of this book is all about this woman’s torture and rape, repeatedly and in GRAPHIC detail. She has been living a daily onslaught of this rape and torture since “her body developed” which is a nice way of saying since she was a teenager. I really don’t see why the author didn’t just go all the way, I mean everyone knows pedophilia is rampant in the human trafficking realm, and she didn’t shy away from anything else. This woman has been locked in an underground bunker of sorts since she was a baby, and obtained only rudimentary reading and writing skills, from another’s slave, and has been blindfolded during every interaction with another person for the last 20 years and otherwise kept in isolation. Yet despite her isolation, daily rape, torture and being drugged, she’s not completely insane? Not a single male character can get past their d1#$ and treat this woman like she’s a person instead of a toy for their own desires, including the so called heroes. Somehow I forced myself to finish this garbage but I will not be reading anymore of this story, nor will I read anything else by this author. Utter Trash. I have a high tolerance for Dark stories, but there is a line between dark and depraved and the idea that this author finds anything from this book as sexually or romantically acceptable has me a bit concerned.
I really wanted to give this a chance. I’m not usually a fan of dark romance but I figured why not? It wasn’t the dark romance that was missing romance, it was the dragging on and on and on. Literally all you hear is the constant abuse and how she’s used for every thing: body and blood. it’s like oh lord almighty don’t know if I can continue to take in these rape scenes, because that’s what they are. It’s 100% not consensual and rape. Which I’m completely desensitized to because this book is one huge detailed raping. There’s no sexy way to cover it. I didn’t rate this book low bc of the dark themes which were abhorrent but whatevs. I rated it so low bc it drags on and on and on. Please get to the point bc I don’t think I can handle another rape scene. I think that this author should have made a detailed account of which constitutes as dark. Are we talking dark bdsm kinda consensual or are we talking dark as in completely non consensual, rape, with physical violence to the person, so much so where she wakes up to being raped because she was passed out? I mean how dark we going here? I mean because this book is clearly the last one. So with all that said I got through half of it and then read the rest of the reviews and it sounds like I thankfully haven’t missed much because she acts weird with her fated mates then gets captured again... ugh snore.
I'm not sure where to begin. The writing in this was not the best, but not the worst I've read either. The potential to really make me feel disgusted and horrified for Trinity (and her lavender eyes 🙄) was there, just not tapped into.
I mean, she was a sex slave and part succubus. The opportunities existed to show her torment or explore more of her self loathing towards her succubus half during these scenes. Instead, we got lousy descriptions of "omg, I hate this but I'm really starting to like this as my slutty succubus rises." Okay, I could do with more than just "slutty succubus". I was disappointed with the lack of emotions from the FMC, that during these SA and torture scenes I felt indifferent towards what was happening.
Also, the constant switching POV was over done and unnecessary. Especially when the other POV didn't add anything other than to showcase the FMC's flat stomach and perfect tits and gorgoes lavender eyes. Did I mention her lavender eyes? No? Well just in case, she had lavender eyes that she knew existed and everyone else knew exisited despite the fact she was kept blindfolded.
I'm sure I could keep going, especially about her men, but this review is already too long.
First thing first, this is a really dark themed book with some triggering scenes. If you are fine with it, then get your flashlights on the ready because its about to get dark. Ready? Let's begin.
Slave Eight/Trinity has only known captivity all her life. Taken from early childhood, she could barely remember her family much less her own name. Imagine all sorts of depravity and horror done to her. Broken, she just wanted to end all her sufferings until auction night came.
This is the first in the series from the debut author and I have enjoyed every moment of reading it. Strong, engaging storyline and told through multiple POV for a reader to get an insight of each character. There is still a mystery to the story that will surely makes you want to read more from this series.
Okay, wow. I can tell you right off that my emotions are all over the place. As of writing this review, I'm still processing what just happened. I swear to you, I'm sitting here with my mouth hanging open, my hands gripping tight my e-reader as I keep on swiping. What is that ending?! I need to know what happens next.
Darkness’s cannot drive out darkness’s: only light can do that
My first dark baby book. 💜 idk why i took forever to read this book. i was hesitant because i thought it would be to dark and that scared me lol But im so glad i started it!! i couldn’t put it down!! it grabs you and doesn’t let got! Its dark in the sense that our main female character is a sex slave. She doesn’t know her name only that they call her “slave eight “. She is being used only for sex, pain and pleasure. I can’t help but feel pity and anger for her and hope one day she can escape. Little does she know there are people looking for her. Good people and thats when everything changes. One encounter changes everything and the chase is on. It was dark and yet so bright when she was with her saviors. But good things dont last always and once again she is captured by the monsters. Huge cliffhanger! i cant wait for the next book! because im waiting for that HEA! or something close! either way im in 😭🙌🏻* I have Kindle Unlimited, and I used that service to read this book. *
With Bound for Blood, author Loxley Savage created a dark and intriguing story.
While I don't have too many triggers, I can see why it would be triggering for others, because even for me it was on the edge of what I'm able to deal with and while there was a slight reprieve, it's highly likely that it will not last, with all the different players wanting Trinity for their own twisted games. At this point it's actually the anticipation of what might happen in the next books, that is getting me all riled up.
With that being said, I do find the plot intriguing and the writing is outstanding. Loxley manages to make me feel every emotion. I can't wait to find out more especially because that cliffhanger absolutely ruined me. The book hangover is real and I might need some time to get over it.
My heart couldn't take that ending! Slave 8 has spent her entire life as nothing. Someone who is used for her body, her blood, and nothing more. Her owner stole her as a child and she has lived her life in the confines of a tiny room, only leaving to be abused by the men who rent her. These men are brutal and Slave 8 becomes a depraved addiction to them, one she wants nothing to do with. Until the auction. Everything changes.
Loxley did such an amazing job with this book. She has a great way of making you feel the characters emotions. I was sad, heartbroken, mad, happy. Once I started the book I couldn't put it down until I finished. Well written, in depth, story that was so different in the realm of supernatural romance. Now, excuse me while I stay up all night to binge read book 2.
So I'll start by saying that the author's warning is no joke. If dark romance isn't your thing, skip this. Dark romance isn't usually my thing but the blurb and great reviews caught my interest so I decided to give it a try. It was definitely too much for me and I doubt I'll continue the series, despite that cliffhanger. But I can't honestly rate this any lower than a 4.5 because it was a truly fantastic book. Despite some scenes that turned my stomach, I couldn't put it down. The writing is skilled (is this really a debut?!), the characters are well developed, and the plot is well paced and intriguing. Basically, this book wasn't for me but I would still recommend it to anyone who likes dark romance.
I really enjoyed the idea of the FMC being a succubus and a phoenix and the description was unlike anything I have read before. I was kinda hoping for the other King to have a more prominent role and actually turn out to be a goodie but alas, only the sadistic King Romeo - damn he is cruel. The writing style was a bit for lack of a better world basic, in the sense that I felt it was over explanatory or said things I didn't think we're necessary. However, I did love the story of the FMC being a sex slave and her phoenix mates! I will be reading the next one to see what happens - I want that HEA 😍
Although this book was interesting and had seriously great potential, it just fell short.
The writing was very choppy at times, it didn’t flow smoothly, and seemed rather juvenile.
I don’t really under Trinity either. She does from backing away from her mate and being terrified when he gets angry, to shoving a stranger into the tub to get soaked and giggling like some little girl? Then goes right back to being scared when Orion gets upset? It just doesn’t make any sense. It’s like the author couldn’t figure out which personality our FMC had and just bounced back and forth.
This book is beautifully twisted and dark and I love it! This book is one of those books that you just get so engrossed with that what it is with the BAM you’re sitting there saying WTF over and over again like I was. Loxley has a done an amazing job! This book was just released but I’m already ready for the second one to get here yesterday. It does end on the cliffhanger but it’s a cliffhanger that makes you want to annoy the author for the next one. I can’t wait to see more from Loxley.
Loxley is a SAVAGE!! This book was insanely hot! A lot of times you have an author provide a “this book is dark” warning and you read it and wonder what the heck made this dark? HEAR ME SAY- heed her warning! This book is DARK. It is SEXY. She allowed us into the mind of the bad guy, to see from his POV and hear his thoughts, and that was pure genius. Again, dark as night, but GENIUS. If you want a super dark, super sexy, fantastical escape- jump into this world. In private. With wine. =)
