This is not really a counting concept book. Instead various facts about ocean creatures are chosen to represent the numbers. Of course a starfish for five, an octupus for eight, and the interesting choice of a stingray for ten because of the ten gills on the underside of its body. The title of the book will be offensive to the primary grade child which the content is appropriate for.
