Gabriel Farago

Gabriel Farago is the USA TODAY Bestselling and Multi-Award-Winning Australian Author of the Jack Rogan Mysteries Series for the thinking reader and culturally curious.

As a lawyer with a passion for history and archaeology, Gabriel had to wait for many years before being able to pursue another passion—writing—in earnest. However, his love of books and storytelling started long before that.

Born in Budapest, Gabriel grew up in post-War Europe, and after fleeing Hungary with his parents during the Revolution in 56, he went to school in Austria before arriving in Australia as a teenager. This allowed him to become multi-lingual and feel ‘at home’ in different countries and diverse cultures. Shaped by a long legal career and experiences spanning several decades and continents, his is a mature voice that speaks in many tongues.

Gabriel holds degrees in literature and law, speaks several languages and takes research and authenticity very seriously. Inquisitive by nature, he studied Egyptology and learned to read the hieroglyphs. He travels extensively and visits all of the locations mentioned in his books.

‘I try to weave fact and fiction into a seamless storyline,’ he explains. ‘By blurring the boundaries between the two, the reader is never quite sure where one ends, and the other begins. This is of course quite deliberate as it creates the illusion of authenticity and reality in a work that is pure fiction. A successful work of fiction is a balancing act: reality must rub shoulders with imagination in a way that is both entertaining and plausible.’

Gabriel lives in the Blue Mountains in Australia just outside Sydney, surrounded by a World Heritage National Park.

If you like historical thrillers, excitement, mystery and suspense, if you enjoy exotic settings, colourful characters and fast-paced action, if you like to learn about interesting, well-researched subjects that tease your intellect and imagination, then once your step inside, Gabriel will show you his world; the world of the storyteller.

Shaped by a long legal career and experiences spanning several decades and continents, his is a mature voice that speaks in many tongues.

His first book – The Empress Holds the Key – will take you on an exciting quest for a holy relic mysteriously erased from the pages of history. You will be transported far back in time to the reign of Akhenaten, the heretic pharaoh of ancient Egypt, and King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba. You will discover a dark secret guarded by the Knights Templar and feared by the Vatican, a mystery that has haunted the Catholic Church for centuries, and can challenge the very foundations of Christianity.

His second book – The Disappearance of Anna Popov – will thrill you in a different way. You will enter the dangerous world of an outlaw bikie gang. You will travel to the remote dreamtime wilderness of outback Australia where the ruler is an evil master, outcasts are heroes, and cruelty and violence are admired and rewarded. You will meet Cassandra, an enigmatic psychic. Using her occult powers to avenge an old, deep wrong, she sets the scene for an epic showdown where the stakes are high and the loser faces death and oblivion.

His third book –The Hidden Genes of Professor K – a medical thriller, was released in July 2016. Cutting-edge medical research meets the ruthless, dangerous world of pharmaceutical empire billionaires, where unbridled ambition and greed threaten to destroy the dreams of a visionary scientist with the power to change the future of medicine, and the journey of man.

A writer like Gabriel, sees the world through a different lens. Using creativity and imagination, He endeavours to weave fact and fiction into seamless stories that have only one aim: to entertain you.

Jack Rogan is an intriguing character and one of the best ways to get to know and understand what makes him tick is to read all the books in Gabriel Farago's Jack Rogan Mysteries Series. Each book is standalone, and reveals a little more about the 'rogue' writer and self-styled mystery solver.
If you’ve read any of Gabriel Farago’s novels or novellas, you know you’re in for a ride. And it’s not an easy journey – Farago’s novels require you to stay switched on. The cutting-edge science in his latest two books might seem far-fetched, but in fact it’s based on actual breakthroughs in genomics being worked on right now in Sydney, Australia.
In addition to Jack Rogan, there are other characters who always seem to become drawn into Rogan’s latest adventure, such as Tristan, who can ‘hear the whisper of angels and glimpse eternity’.
There are many other intriguing characters in this series; some are good, others are just plain evil.
Fans of Farago’s imaginative, globetrotting plots will enjoy whiling away the hours with this box set - a great Christmas present for an avid, 'thinking' thriller-fiction reader!

This was the first of 4 books by this author in a series I have read - and I am eagerly moving on to the next four. But a warning - if you like simple plots, straightline action, and only a few main characters, this series is not for you.
But if you revel in intelligent plots with lots of information and exotic settings, plot twists every third page and the author's extraordinary ability to tie everything together logically and realistically - WOW!!! I felt as though the author had captured Charles DIckens in the ability to create characters and plots and extend them to whole new dimensions.

It is seldom that I find a "casual" read so engrossing, so intellectually stimulating - a terrific author - and book 2 builds on 1, and three combines the past and book four achieves the almost impossible of being better than the first three.

Read the book. Buy the series of all 8 and save yourself the money because you will NOT be able to resist the call to find out what's next. Each book is complete in itself - and each book recaps the past - but read them all, in order. You can thank me later.

I have the privilege of being a member of this authors advance team. This author is one of the best when it comes to writing historical mysteries. He does extensive research for each book. The past and present of what is fact and what is fiction is so well woven together that it makes each book just come alive. I love this series. When I receive a new book I cannot put it down. Besides the history there is a lot of action, romance, and humor just to take the edge off. The lead character, Jack Rogan , is a very exciting personality. He hunts out the truth on whatever quest he has taken on. Each book in this series is a stand alone but I would recommend that you start from the beginning and enjoy the ride.

Gabriel Farago has written a thrilling series of books. It is always helpful when you enjoy a great book to then be able to buy other books by the same author. Amazon's ebook system makes this very easy to do. No more trawling through book stores with crumpled pieces of paper or lists of authors on your phone in a desperate search to find more books by the author. No more excuses from Librarians that the books by your favourite author are all out on loan. Simply search for Gabriel Farago's name and get the whole set of spine- tingling Jack Rogan mysteries as a box set.
I have not received a fee for writing this review as it is written from the point of view of a reader who has been fascinated by all of Gabriel's books.

I went into this set of stories with no idea what to expect. What I came away with is a keen appreciation of Mr Faragos' ability to stitch together pure fiction, near reality fiction, and advanced science all in one place. As he mentions in his author info mini-bio at the end, one of his desires is to do this so seamlessly that the reader often doesn't know where one discipline ends and the next one picks up. Well - Mission Accomplished! I thoroughly enjoyed these stories, and will eagerly await more in the series. Highly recommended.

I was drawn to the writing of Gabriel Farago in ‘Letters From the Attic’ and held captivated through the Jack Rogan Mysteries. Mr. Farago’s creative mind and his way of expressing it created pages of masterful characters and storylines. So much has remained with me, making Jack Rogan an unforgettable character and Gabriel Farago an outstanding author. One no reader should miss. Even his newsletters are filled with interesting reading about his life and writing.

Okay

I obviously was interested enough to read them all but I often struggled to keep that interest. Some of the science got too technical for me. Jack became a little too good to be true.

Should have spaced out books between reading them all. Granted characters from each book are in all the books, but reading all in one shot, the characters started to blur together.

They got more ridiculous with each book.
I have up half way through book three.
The descriptions of the female characters became off-putting. Very dated attitudes.

This captivating set of books make up the Jack Rogan Mystery Series 1-4 by Gabriel Farago, all featuring the incorrigible rascal Jack Rogan as the central protagonist. Each book can be read as a standalone novel, but read in order Jack will continue to give you amazing insights that beguile you and keep you wanting more. I love reading books that have a common outstanding character – and this series does not disappoint. Jack will continue to astound and entertain you.
Of course there are many other enthralling individuals, complex interwoven plots and plenty of intrigue that are all hallmarks of Gabriel Farago’s writing. Great reading anytime and an outstanding gift.
