Magic Missing #3

A Voyager Without Magic

Rate this book
Sam Smith, formerly an Apprentice Investigator of the Baskin Royal Constabulary, boards his ship of exile. Not having a home, he doesn’t have much choice other than to sail to the far off land of Vaarek. His voyage becomes filled with death, insurrection, and pirates on the land and the sea, amid exposure to unfamiliar cultures. Sam must tread carefully, as his nose for snooping is called upon at his ports of call, especially since his arch-enemy from Baskin is one of his fellow voyagers.

I write action/adventure fiction with a definite proclivity towards Sword & Sorcery. I like magicians, but I'm less partial to unicorns, dragons, elves and dwarves. But give me a hero with a magic sword and I'll make him sing... Wait, I already have!

I've published a number of works under the CasiePress imprint and there are more to come.

I'm an older guy (Guy!), married and all my kids have grown up and given me grandkids to dote over. I've read thousands of books and found that in most cases, I'd rather write than read.

Fun, but

These are fun stories, and I have enjoyed reading them, but goodness does this series need the ministrations of a good copy editor!!

Good continuation

This book was pretty good. It had quite a few slow parts that I’m not used to seeing with this author. Sam’s journey to Tolloy takes several unexpected turns and he grows through each obstacle he has to face. It seems every where he goes, people want to use him for their own purpose. This was basically a long book detailing the adventures of Sam traveling to reach Tolloy.

Good but a little predictable

If you’ve read the sorcerer song series or the disinherited prince, this book will feel very similar. Similar characters, attitudes and mysteries. I enjoy his story telling, and I’m hoping that it turns out that the zoorgons are actually a race of cannibals that escaped from the rifters who are the descendants of the race that that are the evil aliens in disinherited prince. ;) Have a good one and enjoy the book it’s worth it.

A satisfying sequel. Recommended

Tended to get heavy on philosophizing and slow on action at points. Worth persevering.

Qualifies as a relaxing, moral, saga. Antibes does not succumb to publisher or societal acceptance of crude language. You never feel what a psychologist termed "at risk" while enjoying his adventures.

This is an excellent story!

Oh boy, combat, intrigue, spots of love. There are a few stories that I tend to read over and over. This may become one of them.
