I am a retired Southwest Airlines pilot. My wife Paula and I, live with our Chihuahua, Gabe, in Mesa, Arizona in a 55+ Golf Resort even though we don't play golf. It affords my wife a very active lifestyle while I spend my time writing. As a child, I enjoyed going to the Saturday matinee and spending the day watching westerns and daydreaming about the old west. I shared a passion with one of my aunts and read every western I could get my hands on. John Wayne was my favorite actor and Louis L'Amour my favorite writer. I miss those days where the good guys win, they treat the ladies right, have honor and are trustworthy. So, in about 2014, I started writing my own westerns and became quite shocked that people enjoyed them. I am so thankful to those of you who read my books, take the time to write reviews and email me. John Wayne said it best when he said "without you, I wouldn't be here". Please accept my deepest appreciation.
TRYING TO MOVE YOUR FAMILY FROM TENNESSEE TO COLORADO IS FULL OF ALL SORTS OF TROUBLES
☆☆☆☆☆
Warning, this review has spoilers.
If it's not one thing it's another when it comes to the challenges facing Callum Logan when he heads home to his family's homestead to retrieve his family and bring them from Tennessee to a new family property in a valley just east of the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Callum has to deal with corrupt law officers, murderous gangs, and families losing their homes, stock, and everything they own to confiscation for being on the wrong side or losing side of the Civil War.
It's a wonder Callum is even able to reach his family in Limerick, Tennessee let alone get them stocked up and heading for Colorado. Unfortunately, it doesn't happen without a cost to the Logan family. With the Logan family and a life-time friend of the family, Ezra, and a few remaining Morgan horses and a mess of mules, and two wagons loaded up with supplies to make the long trip, they leave their family home for a start of a new life in the valley of the new family homestead in Colorado to meet up with Josh Logan and Floyd Logan in what they hope is a land of opportunity for a is safe and prosperous life.
The trip to their new home doesn't go without problems on the trail from ruthless killers to a deadly deceiving wagon train boss and hired gun fighters. They team up with a group of greenhorns who were promised a new life on a trail to Oregon that will be easier than pie and would go off without any problems during their travels from Independence to Oregon all they had to do was sell their business, cash out their bank accounts, load up all the possessions in newly purchased wagons and head for the promised land of opportunity in Oregon and start a new and easy life without any hardships and make a huge profit. Unfortunately, waiting on the plains was a ruthless gang hiding out to attack the wagon train to steal their money, kill every man, woman that they didn't want to rape or sell, and kill every child they couldn't sell to the Indians or down in Mexico.
If it wasn't for Callum, Floyd, Shorty, Morg, Ezra, Bret, Colin, Kate, and Rebecca the settlers heading to Oregon wouldn't have made it halfway before they would have been cut down and left on the plains with nothing but sun-bleached bones to show for their passing.
Callum's Mission: A Logan Family Western - Book 3 (Logan Family Western Series) by Donald L. Robertson is a well-written addition to the Logan Family saga that is action-packed from the get-go with family values, and heroic deeds from the Logan family that define the term hero. The characters are clearly brought to life in a way that will leave you feeling like you are right there experiencing their triumphs and their losses as well as their joy and their sorrows. If you haven't had the opportunity to read any of the previous books in this series, I highly recommend them to all. Though you really can pick up each book without reading the previous books, I highly recommend starting at the beginning.
This is one of the most heartwarming series I have had the opportunity to read and is definitely worthy of the five stars I have awarded them, especially this third book of the series. The excitent, as well as the suspense, is certainly touching throughout the entire story. Great research by an exceptionally talented author!
I have definitely become another happy follower of Mr. Donald Robertson after following the Logan family through this outstanding western series of never ending excitement. There is a never ending excitement of one great accomplishment after the other. If you love gunfights, romance and plenty of heartwarming family episodes, this family and friends, will meet all you expectations. The exceptionally outstanding selections of characters and storylines will definitely keep your attention from beginning to end. The heartwarming experiences, as well as the outstanding descriptiveness of each episode, gives the reader immediate satisfaction! I have recommended many previously read series and I definitely have no problem declaring these three novels worthy of any reader's undivided attention! Great job by another outstanding writer of our American folklore fantasy.
The Logan family members are an ethical, honest, hardworking group. In this book, we travel with Callum from the Colorado home place back to Tennessee to bring the rest of the Logans out to Colorado. There are plenty of challenges along the way. I like the storyline, the characters and the pace of the book. I can't wait to move onto book four! Mr. Robertson does a wonderful job of painting the word pictures in each book of the series. I highly recommend the series.
Am loving this series! Each book captures my imagination and I constantly have a feeling that “I can’t wait to read what happens in the next book. Was expecting the worse and that end of this one for the Loan’s, but Bear-y happy it ended the way it did. Read it and you will see what I mean. Enjoyment will be enhanced if you start with book 1 and continue on!
I finally stopped reading this authors books . he writes a great story but in each of his booms he has to.cause a.death r.a.serious injury to.someone close to the MC or one of.the main characters . I guess the Author can't wrote a book unless loved ones and good fami!y people die or.get.killed . Thebauthornalso.has the habit of letting the really bad guys kill a lot of.good people before someone puts them down.so far he has let really bud things happen to.both brothers and now the father is dead because the writer had 3 smart family members running into.each other and still couldn't manage to kill the two people who shot and killed their father .on this other side of .the coin. The bad guys in this story always are able.to kill, steal, kidnap.and rape.with abandon while getting away with it andnkill.some more until.......ok its time to.kill the bad guns off . what is next .the mother ,sister or.maybe the two youngest brothers .when one has to kill off a d wound family members to make .A book exciting The thing a out reading a book is.....you get emotionally involved with the charactors and I have read enough of this family having to.be maimed ,raped ,kidnapped ,or killed . I would think the writers idea of pointing out that this this aera was a dangerous time to.live in ......he has already gone Above.and beyond and worn out the the death or injury in the family will.cause anger to.retubution. The books are well.written ,its a.great plot but give a family a break.
The #3 book in the Callum's Mission: Logan Family Western series. Wow a great, clean, extremely well written book, true to the time period. A wonderful story of the old west.
Callum going to help his Ma, Pa, brothers and sister move from Tennessee to Colorado where Floyd Logan is building his Cattle Ranch. Callum has many challenges to face with two wagons and many family member, numerous horses, even more mules, and all the supplies needed for the journey. This would be a challenge for anyone.
I enjoyed this book it's so well written about the Logan family. The characters are vividly described with true actions. There are detailed adventures, excitement and entertainment throughout the book telling the closeness of this family. I recommend this series to everyone.
The board was very wonderful and enjoyable and I enjoyed it very much it was around many different situations and they all seem to come together in the end each curve of the book Night story was different but it was very very interesting to see the outcome which was always very hard to just decide what it was going to be next I would recommend this book to anyone thank you very much for 4 letting me read i
A very interesting story about life after the Civil War and the opening of the West.
This is the third book in the series about the lives of the Logan family after the Civil War. The characters, plots and sub plots are all very interesting and true to this period of our history. If you enjoy Westerns that are true to the times and places in our Western history then I highly recommend this series by Donald L. Robertson.
I have enjoyed this book so much, but I messed up and read this one first but plan to read the other ones. If you like a good full bodied story you will love this one. This author is awesome. Wish there was another book after this one because you don't want the story to end. Enjoy

Try it out,and enjoy a good series!
This series of books is some of the best written westerns I have ever read. It’s a pure pleasure to read books that are written without all the curse words and sexual garbage that is usually accompanies each other! I applaud the author for such wonderful written material and highly recommend it to everyone! Thank you, Mr. Robertson!
Enjoyed Robertson’s engaging writing style filled with intrigue and action. His characters are well developed and his heroes and heroines have the same characteristics of as the greatest Western narrator of all, Louis L’Amour. Thoroughly enjoying the read. Looking forward to the next one.
This is a wonderful adventure story of the old west with lots of action. I can’t wait for the next in the series. Robertson has an easy to read style and the ability to keep you turning pages and forgetting bed time. Keep them coming!
One of the most entertaining nove!s i ve read in a long time. The story moved along well, making you eager to keep turning the pages. There was a lot of information about day to day life in the story, and how life was lived in the days after the Civil War.
This is a great book. I love the fact that it is first well written. It is a clean book with no overt sexual material and the cursing is at a minimal. I don’t usually write reviews but I felt this book deserve one.
This series is by far one of the best series. A definite page turner with great characters and lots of action.Would highly recommend this series to everyone that enjoys a great western.
It's hard to review a book in a series but each book in this series stands well on its own. They are all very good, highly entertaining, informative and just plain fun. I'm going to try another on Mr Robertson's series noe. Thanks for writing them.
Great story of a man and his dream to have a ranch where his family could live and prosper. The story has lots of adventure and western justice in it. You will love the ending as justice is served.
Robertson's books featuring the Logan's just get better and better! This one has plenty of action and a touch of romance. Determination and perseverance mark the Logan family.
I loved A Logan Family Western 3 book series. The characters were exciting and colorful. The action and suspense kept you turning the pages. Great writing and great reads. I am a fan and will be reading more books by Donald L. Robertson.
This book is just as good as the first two. Sad that Pa didn't make it to Colorado. Glad Pickering is dead. Hope the body is found so the Logan family will know he is dead. Looking forward to book 4.
Another good book in the series. Seems like every chapter is on the edge and one doesn't want to put the book down. I don't think you will be sorry buying any of the books by the author
Love these Logan Family westerns, as all three I have read are excellent books. I especially appreciate your style of writing, the omission of extremely offensive cussing and keeping the married women of that era as valued and loved family assets.
Excellent continuation of this frontier family saga. True to life struggles abound along with the resulting changes in each character. Looking forward to the next book!
If you like westerns you will love this series as it holds your attention from the very first.....never diminishing to the very end. Cannot wait to read the next book in this series.
You will always have my 5 star rating. I can't get enough of vfb this series. You are so talented in your writing CV that I feel like I am there with this family. I can also smell that campfires
This author has kept me fascinated through three episodes now. The characters are realistic. The country side is all but visible. And to my delight, very few errors. My main disappointment was when the patriarch was killed.
This Logan series books are excellent. Don Robertson is a fantastic western writer. The last book I read was Forgotten Season which was exciting! The series is so good you can hardly wait for the next book in the series to download on my Kindle.
They only get better. Each book increases the number of family members in the Logan clan. Each is unique and brings a stronger feeling of family to light. The action is non-stop and the pages just seem to fly by. I'm off to read book four.
