ReMade #2.1

Patch Job

Rate this book
You live. You love. You die. Now RUN.

This is the 1st episode in the second season of ReMade, a 14-episode serial from Serial Box Publishing. This episode was written by Andrea Phillips.

A figure from the group’s past reappears, bringing up some serious questions about their remade lives. Is anything they thought they knew true? Can caretakers ever be good? And, most important, who can they trust?

One moment proved fateful for a group of teenagers—and not just because it’s the moment they all happened to die. At the moment of their deaths, they were snatched forward into the future and remade in a world they hardly recognize. Now, after facing murderous robots and an unpredictable environment, the teens have begun to find their footing. But can they survive long enough to figure out why they were remade? And will they ever be able to stop running?

I was so looking forward to the next season of ReMade, but I felt kinda let down by the season opener. After how INSANE the end of the last season was, I was hoping for a little more from the opening installment of season 2. I was happy to get to see the backstory for a character I thought was gone for good, and that we wouldn’t see again, but it was just hard for me to get back into the story going through this whole installment through her eyes (not saying the name as it in itself is kind of a spoiler, even though it’s found out at the very beginning). I could also understand Inez’s paranoia and hurt feelings, but after liking her so much for her ability to stay level headed through the first season, this crazy person didn’t feel like Inez. I’ll be happy to read the next installment to see if maybe some of this is explained from the other kids’ POV from within the city.

I did like her "pets" in this one though.

Nothing much happens... I mean we do get to see that Jing-Wei isn't dead and that she can somehow talk to the caretakers but mostly this episode was a let down, other than Jing-Wei because I love her so much. I am glad to know I still hate Inez though. She's even worse then before. I am eager to see what happens and I really hope that no one hurts Sparky. I like him so much!

Patch Job is the first episode in the second season of ReMade and rather than starting of where the first season ended (without answers on a cliffhanger), this starts something new. A character that was thought to be gone for good is in a sense ReMade all over and dropped into the world again. Also, there is a special connection with the caretakers.

I'm curious to see where this is going.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

This is a solid start for the second season and, as always, leaves you with more questions than answers. It's intriguing and thought-provoking and I can't wait to read the rest of the twists and turns in the up coming novellas. 4.5 out of 5 stars.

SQUEEEEE #ReMade is BACK and it wouldn’t be the dystopian sci-fi we love if it didn’t leave me with more questions than answers. Spoilers below.

So quick catch up from last season - ReMades are not all on the same page and just when you think it can’t get crazy enough…Previously dead (?) character, Jing Wei, waltzed back on the scene, leaving us all like WHAT HOW. This season opened up and showed us what she’s been up to since she died in the ReMade world and was apparently brought back? We still don’t know how but we may know why - she has the ability to fix things (robots) from the most random of parts. We also got a glimpse into her previous life through reflection.

The serialized nature of the story allows us to have these personal moments with the characters, something I enjoy as a person who enjoys a character driven story. I can already tell this season is going to be full of twists and turns. What the heck are the caretakers up to?

Eeek I'm so excited for season 2!!!

All of my reviews of ReMade are more plot based than my normal reviews, so they are all a little more spoilery than usual. I recommend checking out my review for the first episode before reading on!

Well now I am thoroughly conflicted and I feel so bad for the ReMades! Like can’t one thing go their way?! So just in case you haven’t read/listened to season 1, I am about to drop a huge spoiler…so turn back now.

Like it was devastating enough for the group to have been brutally attacked and the loss of lives. Then pile on the loss of the intellectual genius of Jing-Wei. AND now that she has been remade again, and apparently lost all her knowledge of the group of people she was with before! A real damn shame, that is.

We finally got Jing-Wei’s death story, and how she can patch up robots from random parts and pieces, so once again, bringing Jing-Wei back, again, is definitely in the robots best interests. Maybe she can rewire some of the ones that have completely lost their programming and have turned into monsters. But I am getting ahead of myself.

It seems as though Jing-Wei has found a good bunch of caretakers that have been fighting along side her on the ground. They are on the ground and on the run, since their space station was attacked by other robots, again, and she meets up with the core group of other ReMades. However, she doesn’t remember a one of them. So needless to say, the group is a tad in shock to realize that Jing-Wei must be a newer version of herself, and there is a lot of tension with the group of ReMades…as they only see caretakers as mostly murderous.

This is the first book in the second series of Remade. I read and enjoyed the first series and look forward to finding out what happens with the characters in this new series.

I think this episode set up nicely for the series and raised questions that hopefully will be answered in later episodes. Every character has a strong character arc, and in this one we get to find out more about one of the characters we left in the first series. It also offers some more insight into the robots.

I suggest reading the first series first.
