THE NEW SCOTTISH CRIME THRILLER DRAMA. When Private Investigator Hugo Storm is approached by Art Dealer Ariella Cantor, to find her young daughter who had disappeared months before, circumstances force him to accept the challenge. Little does Hugo know the terrible secret behind the missing child, and then it all becomes personal - very personal. The dark streets of Edinburgh are about to get a whole darker. Introducing the Hugo Storm Crime Thriller series. Hugo is a fixer and Private Investigator in Edinburgh. Half Scottish and half Norwegian, Hugo is at heart a family man who is a capable operator, with the instinct of a natural investigator. He attracts all kinds of people and all kinds of cases. However, with authority issues and being impulsive, both his family and professional life are complicated. Nonetheless, the adrenaline thrill of his job is just too strong to ignore. Tartan Noir with a Nordic twist.
This was a 3-4 rating really. Enjoyed the story, it moved pretty fast. Some unlikely elements and why do these male characters choose not to speak- when a few words would sort a lot of trouble? But that's artistic license I suppose. To say much more would be a spoiler, but its worth the read.
A kidnapping investigated by two brothers. One the Private Investigator father, the other the policeman uncle. I liked the plot, the setting and the atmosphere, but the actions of the policeman, even though this is fiction, were just too far fetched not to be dealt with by his superiors, and therefore my disbelief kept dragging me away from the story.
This was i couldn't put it down read! Lots of twists and turns, fast paced, well written. Will definitely be adding this author to my list. A P.I. Who is very human, has faults but you relate all the same, a family man who loves his kids, and is willing to do anything for them. Coming from Central Scotland there were landmarks I recognized, and I liked the relationship between Petit and Hugo
