More Than Tempt You

Rate this book
I romanced her for revenge…but what if she’s not the enemy after all?

I’m Clint Holmes. I was an ambitious guy with a busy life and a growing business. Sure North Dakota wasn’t a tropical paradise, but I was happy enough—until tragedy struck. Now the only thing that matters is finding the person responsible and making her pay. But Bethany Banks is a Harvard-educated shark used to swallowing her enemies whole while playing dangerous corporate games. How can a blue-collar oil man like me possibly beat her?

The moment I lay eyes on my beautiful nemesis, the answer is obvious. I seduce her.

On Maui, where she’s fled, I get to know the man-eater who caused my family so much pain…only to find she’s not the brazen ballbuster I assumed. She’s skittish, secretive, vulnerable. For some reason, my instinct is to protect her. I can’t abandon my plan…but I can’t stop wanting her. Night after night, I pry her open with my touch until I’m drowning in our passion. Soon, I’m questioning everything, especially the fine line between love and hate. But when the past comes back to wreak vengeance and the truth explodes, can I prove that I’m more than tempted to love her forever?

I came for my pound of flesh…but I’m the one who lost my heart.

I have a rule when it comes to Shayla Black books= she writes them, I read them. No exception. And while I get excited about all of her upcoming releases, there was something about this blurb that had me particularly foaming at the mouth. It's a twist on the enemies to lovers with a splash of revenge and I was dying to get my grabby little hands on it.

Clint is desperate for answers and revenge. After his father loses his entire life's savings in a Ponzi scheme by those he trusted most, Clint needs to make them pay. His target? The beautiful and vicious financial wiz that held his father's fortune and up and disappeared when the crooked empire that her father built went crumbling down. But not everything is what it seems.

Hawaii serves the beautiful backdrop to this story as Clint slowly begins to discover that Bethany may not quite be the ruthless shark that he thought she was.

I'll admit, I had a tough time connecting Bethany's true self to what I knew about her on paper. She seems to have two very big extremes; who she really is and who she needs to be, and there's not much in the middle. She's introverted and almost borderline naive, but at the same time...not. I won't go into much detail here, but let's just say some of the things she does for her father, I had a hard time connecting that woman to who she really is. But at the same time, I couldn't help but feel for her and everything that she's been through. This is a woman with many layers, and I was eager to keep unraveling them to get to the core of who she is.

The romance was deeply satisfying. I loved watching Clint's eventual and almost unwilling fall for her. The more he gets to know the woman behind the enigma, the more he begins to question his resolve. I also loved that this is written in Clint's POV. I really liked being in his head and experiencing his up and down emotions. He struggles with falling for the woman that's responsible for his family's greatest pain and he struggles even more with connecting his gut feelings and his heart.

This story had everything; feels and steam, mystery and action, along with a heart wrenching romance. I enjoyed it thoroughly and can't wait for more. Hopefully we get Clint's brothers in the next one.

More Than Tempt You is a standalone in the More Than Words series. Each book focuses on one of the Barclay siblings, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. While this series has an overall theme of one father who has ruined their worlds in a different way, you do not have to read in order. You learn real quick in the beginning what Beth is dealing with.

If you have read any of the previous books, you do get a small introduction to Beth and it wasn't a flattering picture for her. After learning what kind of man their father was, it was no surprise he had at least one of the siblings fooled. What you learn in this book was just how he fooled her and how truly horrible this man is. I knew he was bad when the other siblings talked about him but in Beth's story, you get the worst of it.

Honestly it's surprising how Beth still has a good side to her after what her father forced her into over the years. You get a whole new Beth in this book. Her blindfold was ripped off and truths were revealed that left her reeling in the aftermath.

Clint wants revenge and he believes Beth deserves everything that's coming to her. He wants answers and he wants her to pay but that's hard to do when you can't find her. He gets a lucky break when a friend of his tells him he found her in Maui. Coming at her for answers hasn't worked so he has to devise a plan to sneak into her life to find the answers.

I'm usually on edge when one of the couple's is deceiving the other cause you know the truth will all come out in a disastrous way. That does happen, but it was also done in a way that made me love how they got to know each other. I don't see how it could have happened any other way with the situation they were in. It still took me a long time to like Beth but I loved Clint. Even with him being the deceiver, he was honorable and protected her even in the face of his anger.

This has been a really enjoyable series. I've loved getting to know all of these siblings and their journey to finding love in the face of the bitterness they all felt due to their father. It was great to see all of them and their significant others come together for Beth in this book. Great series!

I liked the premise of this book, but I didn't quite think it lived up to its potential...Beth was a little to washy-washy for me, and Clint was way too arrogant.

A 1.5 maybe. Its just so bad. SO BAD. But also, it is hilariously bad. There were times I actually had to stop listening for just a few minutes because the hilerrible was too much to take. I needed to rebuild my resistance. Why did I keep going? I think I was enjoying the "oh no, it can't get worse, noooo it did!"

The story (and I use that word loosely) is that Clint has left home to earn his own fortune despite being from a super rich family in LA. He drops out of school and goes to the oil fields in North Dakota. There, of course, this college dropout without connections to anyone or anything in the oil industry and with no relevant experience, but with a can-do attitude and great bone structure, becomes an instant multi-millionaire. (And is still making money and has a business to sell in 2019 two years after everyone else has lost their shirts in the Bakken. Apparently Shelley Bradley/Shayla Black does not read the newspaper.) When a Madoff-like hedge-fund guy fleeces Clint's father and brings on his demise Clint leaves the square states to return to SoCal, stabilize his younger brothers, and seek revenge. Fake-Madoff has absconded, and so Clint's target is Fake-Madoff the Younger, a beautiful genius named Bethany whom he believes was the siren who drew his father to his fate. Somehow this ends up being a situation where the revenge includes him jetting off to Hawaii, having a lot of great sex with Bethany so that she will become addicted to his mad bedroom skillz after which he will abandon her. Of course instead Clint decides he is in love with her and then loses her, but the losing was not on his terms, and thus he must try trying to reclaim her. Other things happen too, including random time in a birthing suite with Bethany's sister-in-law, a woman Clint has met once. I am fascinated by the arrogance of a person who thinks once a woman has had sex with the master she will be destroyed by the loss of access to said sex machine. Has Clint, with his 24 years of life experience, so roughly say 7 years of casual sexual activity, developed erotic skills so sharp that his penis and core strength can ruin lives? That is one magic penis, Clint. If he is looking for business ventures he should be thinking about that penis instead of freezing his ass off and rubbing elbows with off-the-grid itinerants in Mandan.

Looking for an A+ hate read? Shayla has got you covered.

The More Than Words series is Shayla Black at her best--and this book is absolutely my favorite of the series so far. The premise--healing through revenge--is a wrenching and time-honored one, given new life in this story--and then new layers when Clint Holmes has to pile on a fake identity to accomplish his goal. From the start, we already know this isn't going to go well for the poor guy, who ends up falling hard for the woman he's come to Maui to destroy. Beth Banks is working through a boatload of conflict of her own, and believes that life has finally given her a break in the form of the handsome, humble bartender for whom she's fallen in love. As a reader, it was riveting for me to be rooting for Clint one second but wanting to deck him the next. Black has woven some gorgeous ironies into the overall themes of this plot. Beth has come to an island because she perceives herself as one, only to reconnect to the world through a love she never expected. And the bigger gut punch: that Clint has to catch a liar by perpetuating a lie himself, risking the honesty and truth of a love he never expected either. There's so much to dig into here, meaning this is a read for those of us who want some deep human truths layered into our romance--and proving exactly why Shayla Black is one of the undisputed queens of the genre.

This is a delightful addition to the More Than Words series, focusing on another child of Barclay Reed-his daughter Bethany and her nemesis, Clint Holmes.

Clint’s father was swindled by Bethany’s father and Clint is convinced Bethany is involved since she was his Dad’s financial adviser. He flies to Hawaii to try and find proof of her conspiracy, only to find himself falling for her. But with his lies and deception, has he doomed the relationship before it ever starts?

Bethany is a totally sympathetic character, incredibly bright, but socially backward because she skipped several grades and was far younger than her classmates. With her father as an example of what not to do and her Mom a distant figure, she lives a lonely existence and falls hard for Clint.

Clint is a little tougher to warm up to, as his goal is to destroy Bethany, but from the very beginning he is conflicted by his sympathy for the vulnerable young woman. Eventually, he falls hard for her, but his purpose in meeting her drives a wedge between them. Can he overcome it?

As always, Shayla Black portrays the emotions of the characters with skill and sympathy. The story is well written and catches us up with the characters from the previous books.

Overall, a delightful read and worthy of its five-star designation.

I have been enjoying this series and I keep thinking THIS is my favorite but then the next book in the series comes out and I think well THIS IS MY FAVORITE and that is what I am saying again because this book was AMAZING!

There is something about an enemy-to-lover romance that really calls to me but this was more than that because Bethany didn't know Clint, she knew his father, so the enemy part was one sided and that made it more intriguing.

There has been a common thread between all of the books, all of the Reed siblings dislike their father, Barclay Reed, but none more so than Bethany and believe me when I tell you she has every reason to not only dislike her father but to downright hate him.

Clint had my heart from the very beginning, anyone in his shoes would want revenge, it's a normal reaction and emotion but few people would actually go ahead and peruse it.

Clint and Beth had an instant chemistry one they both fought, although for different reasons, but it was stronger than either of them and they finally gave in to it and boy oh boy talk about overheating your kindle!

I listened to the AUDIOBOOK of this story and LOVED it. Narrator, Christian Fox, did a wonderful job bringing this story to life. You never had to guess who was talking during the dual POV because he had a different voice infliction for each so you knew exactly who's POV it was.

Each of the books in this series can be read as a standalone but I would recommend reading them in order that way you get the full impact of the running thread that connects each of the books and it will not spoil anything for you. Happy Reading!!!

More Than Tempt You by Shayla Black is book 5 in the More Than Words Series. This is the story of Bethany Banks and Clint Holmes. I have read the previous book but I do feel if you want you can make this a standalone book. I really have enjoyed the previous books so you might not want to miss out. This book has the underline theme of revenge by the hero Clint who feels that Beth may be one of the people responsible for the tragedy in his life. Clint changes his identity to try to find the answers he needs but he is finding that Beth might not be all that he first thought. Beth is proving to be the total opposite of the harsh cutthroat women he thinks committed these unforgivable crimes against him and his family. Beth is trying to deal with learning some harsh realities along with getting away from people that are out to do her in. When she meets a man who she feels has brought so needed joy to her but what will she do when she learns that he isn't what he seems.
Their story was a page turner for me...big fan of Ms. Black's writing.

The Barclay siblings we read about in this series are all dealing with the aftermath of their father's actions and just their own experiences. Bethany is the sibling this book revolves around. Clint loses his father and it seems that stress after Bethany's father's betrayal may have been the cause! Clint is determined to get revenge. After losing both parents and having siblings to keep an eye on now, he wants what he thinks his family deserves, his father's money.

Clint is a hardworking man who has gone his own way when it comes to career choices. Family has become more important to him since his mother passed away, so losing his father as well was devestating. I can only imagine how much grief fueled him wanting revenge for his family.

I thought it was rather ironic that Clint had to lie to find revenge. As we know, life never goes as planned and when Bethany isn't what he think she'll be, he's really confused. Clint works at the same bar as her to get close, but as he gets to know her, he can't help but start developing feelings. It's clear Bethany has her own things to go through. We don't know much about that though, because we mostly only get Clint's POV. I normally don't like that, but it fit this story. It kept it mysterious, what was going on with Bethany and how will it all work out.

More Than Tempt You was everything I was hoping for. I loved seeing them get to know each other and him being surprised about how different she was than he expected. With not having Bethany's POV in the beginning, I had a hard time connecting with her, but I did really enjoy her character. Most of all I enjoyed reading about characters from previous books and how they all fit together. This added a certain element to this story that Clint didn't see coming.

I don't want to give away too much, because this really is a story you need to read yourself! I recommend this story, but the previous ones as well. These characters are amazing and the way Shayla tells their story leaves you satisfied, but wanting more! More Than Tempt You makes you feel a lot, laugh, cry and smack the characters, haha. Add some steamy moments and this makes the journey complete.

Reading another installment in this series reminds me once again I need to get around to reading the first two books ASAP. I have come to love all of these characters and their stories! I really recommend this book and author!

Facing Hard Truths

Clint Holmes has led a fairly uncomplicated life continually working towards developing his family's oil business to greater levels. Then a catastrophe hits him personally and he is left devastated. The only thing that keeps him going is to seek answers and the person responsible for turning his life upside down. He did not count on his enemy being Bethany Banks. She is sexy, gorgeous and takes his breath away when he first lays his eyes on her. But he knows she is smart, savvy and has a notorious reputation for being cutthroat and ruthless.

Clint has a plan that he hopes will uncover her secrets and lies so he can put his turmoil to rest and move on with his future. As he gets to know Bethany, he finds it hard to believe that she is the same woman that is capable of the unforgiveable crimes she is accused of. He sees someone else entirely. Someone who is sensitive, caring and willing to share her innermost feelings with him.

Shayla Black takes us through the emotional turmoil that both Clint and Bethany face when the truth is finally revealed.

The fact that I have a whole R&B playlist dedicated to this series is itself a manifestation of love.

At first I was afraid I wouldn't like this as much as its predecessors, but I should've known better than to doubt Shayla Black's effect on me. Even though these romances sometimes border on insta-lovey, I can't help myself. They're so freaking good!

One of the worst heroines I've ever had the displeasure of reading/listening to.

The things she let her father do to her without ever standing up for herself... and even cried over the bastard after he died... the way she forgave the hero so fast, my head spun. I get that HEA is required, but there's something called self-preservation and self-esteem that i think is really important and the heroine severely lacks both.

Yuck. Pathetic heroine.

With how this one opened and Clint hell bent on finding out what happened I found things predictable, yet that didn't bother me. I liked how by getting to know Bethany Clint was forced to acknowledge that what he thought wasn't true, that Bethany had been taken advantage of just as much as his father, in fact it was much worse for her.

I liked how this one ended, loved that by words and actions both Clint and Bethany know that each truly wanted each other and their future.

In order for a romance to work when one of the characters is lying to the other, you have to believe in the connection.

Clint and Bethany have enough of a connection that I was willing to believe in the atttaction and believe that it would survive past the revelation that there was something about Clint she didn't know.

I think it helps that this is told from Clint's POV. You know he's conflicted, you know his opinions are changing of her and you know he's struggling with this.

Add his POV to a connection you totally believe and this is a titke that works well. If you are worried about the "lie" aspect of this one, don't be...it's handled very well.

I enjoyed and recommend this title.

FINAL DECISION: Clint is misguided and Beth is hard to get to know, but these two are so perfect together that all the lies an secrets can't keep them apart. I enjoyed this book but wanted more grovel for Clint's lies.

THE STORY: Clint Holmes is looking for revenge after the death of his father. He believes that Bethany Banks, who managed his father's money, is responsible for the shock and stress that led to his father's death. He tracks her down in Maui working as a waitress. In order to discover what her involvement is in the theft of his father's money, Clint pretends to be a bartender new to the island and hides his true identity from Bethany. But she isn't what he expected. Soon Clint finds himself falling for this woman with secrets.

OPINION: This book is told primarily from Clint's point of view which is a good thing because otherwise his actions would be pretty terrible. Instead, we get to see his conflicts and thus he is a much more sympathetic character.

If a book has first person, I generally prefer alternating first person narratives so that we can get to know each character. Here Beth and her motivations remain a mystery to readers until she reveals them to Clint. This creates more understanding of Clint's point of view because the reader is as uncertain as Clint is. (Although readers of the series might have some idea of what has been going on.)

Beth is difficult to get to know -- both for the reader and for Clint. She also has some bad stuff in her background (readers of the series won't be surprised by the horrible person her father is).

There are a lot of interesting situations in this book arising from the central conflict -- Clint seeks to expose a liar by becoming one himself. Clint's struggle of whether he is wrong about Beth or is falling for a bad person and his struggle over his own lies to Beth made his emotionally complex. It's also a hot book!

I really liked these characters together, and I enjoyed this book with one exception. Clint really should have had to do more "on camera" groveling. But we get some sense that he is truly redeemed by the end of the book so I'm okay with it, but I still wanted more.

WORTH MENTIONING: Fans of the author's other series may find some Easter eggs here.

CONNECTED BOOKS: MORE THAN TEMPT YOU is the fifth book in the More Than Words series. This book can be read as a standalone although there is a continuing story in the series if you read the books in order and overlapping characters.

STAR RATING: I give this book 4 stars.

NOTE: I received an early released eARC of this book via the author to aid in preparation of this review. I was not required to write a review or to write a positive review. More Than Tempt You is the fifth book in the More Than Words series by Shayla Black. This is Bethany Banks’ story. We know a little about her from the previous books. However, More Than Tempt You gives us the rest of the story. Each book in the series stands alone but let me warn you. As soon as you finish one book in the series, you will need more.

Beth is the illegitimate daughter of the infamous, unethical, evil, father of the characters of the series, Barclay Reed. Bethany spent her life doing everything she could to get her father’s approval. As a result, many people believe that she was in cahoots with him when he stole millions from his clients. One of the people who want revenge on Beth is Clint Holmes. He watched his father die of a heart attack after finding out he lost his life’s savings when Barclay Reed was arrested. Bethany was his father’s financial advisor. It is a disaster in the making.

Bethany is strong, independent, and a superstar in the financial field. Her entire focus is proving herself to her father. She had a rough life even though her father gave her a good education, a great career opportunity, he never gave her a father’s love. She wants to please him. Some of the things her father asks her to do over the years crush her. The only good thing that came out of this scandal is that she is getting to know her siblings.

I love the hero, Clint. Clint is mourning the loss of his father. He is worried about his brothers and how they are reacting to their father’s death. At heart, he is a good man and a kind soul. It is against his nature to deliberately hurt someone. His actions aren’t sitting right. Clint knows he has to come clean to Bethany, but he needs to be loyal to his family. Clint didn’t expect the sweet and loving girl filled with pain. He is confused about his mission now that they’ve met. We all know what happens when a relationship is built on revenge, lies, and secrets.
.
More Than Tempt You is tied with More Than Love You for my series favorite. I guess I love the female Reeds a smidgen more than the male Reeds…although they are all wonderful. What I love most about this book and the series, in general, is how real and believable the characters are. I can see myself being in their life (even though I’m not enormously rich and beautiful). The Hawaiian setting is like Calgon—it takes me away to a wonderfully relaxing place.

I am a huge fan of family series. Each book features a member of the Reed clan and highlights what pain they suffered from the senior Reeds as parents. On the outside, they look like they have it all. Internally they each have a bumpy road to happiness. I’m sure you will love Bethany and Clint and their way to happiness.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the fifth book in the series, and I would definitely recommend that you read them all, and ideally in order. That said, this is a strong story which stands on its own merits. The series follows the fortunes of the children of Barclay Reed, and their rise above his terrible parenting skills to find their future.

Bethany has escaped the attention for the crimes her father committed, and finds herself being sheltered by the family that she never knew. She is someone who we get to know through the eyes of Clint. He is a man on a mission, and when he finds Bethany, he is going to pull her to shreds ... and yet when he does meet up with her on Maui, he finds her to be the most appealing woman he has ever met. The push and pull on his conscience and his heart is played out on the pages, and the reader cannot help but be sucked into the dilemma. When is the right time to confess all? All of us have at some point faced a decision about timing ... and we can never know when would have been a better time, nor how the impact on the person will affect future relations. So Clint's problem becomes ours, and as we see opportunities slip away, it is just a matter of just how bad can it get!

I loved that edge of suspense, alongside a hearty dose of chemistry and mutual pleasure. Fans of Shayla Black will know that the route cannot be smooth, but there is a way out of the mess, for sure. The fact that Maxon, Griff et al are prepared to get involved is reassuring, and it is fun to catch up with the siblings and their growing families too.

I was delighted to read that there will be a story for Stephen and Skye, and look forward to another dip into this world soon.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review.
Clint Holmes has lost his father to a heart attack. That happened after he found out all the money he had invested was now gone. Stolen by the investment firm that was supposed to be on his side. Now Clint is after the one person left that took his father from him, Bethany Banks.
Bethany Banks is trying to get past the sins of her father. She thought he was the one she could trust and now she is learning that he was only out to save himself. He used her to get big money clients to invest in the firm, used her to be the face of the firm and used her love to make him seem like a good guy.
Clint's buddy finds Bethany working at a bar in Maui, but she is going by Beth. But she is the same girl. Now Clint is working at the same bar and will get close to her to find the answers he is looking for. And then he will seek his revenge for the death of his father.
Will Clint seek his revenge without falling for Bethany? Can Bethany convince Clint she did not do all the things he thinks she did? Will the be able to have a future together after all the hurt?
While Clint is out for revenge, Bethany is sheltered from her past and doesn't share with anyone. But you can understand why with what her father made her do. Who does she trust or can she trust.
I love this series and love Shayla Black, she has a way to make you love her writing and her stories. So sit back and enjoy this series for yourself.

I am in the very pleasant place to say that I liked this book! It ranked as second best in the series. Yes Clint was douche sometimes, yes there were times I wanted to smack him, but overall the book was good. I know that this might be considered as a spoiler, but I feel the need to mention it since some people might not like it. The only sour part was Bethany's past because it contained sexual and emotional abuse. Her father forced her to do things and I was not ok. But Bethany has emerged as a stronger person and she doesn't let her past define her.

Clint and Bethany's relationship had a good pace. It developed nicely and in a natural way. Any hesitation on Clint's part can be justified by the short amount of time they knew each other, but to be honest, I didn't mind the small timeframe. There was something about them that was great.

For once, I remembered since page one that the story is told entirely from the hero's point of view and I didn't mind. Bethany was an easy person to read and I had complete faith in her. I liked her and my heart broke for her. Clint had the potential of being a horrible hero, but thankfully he stayed on the good side. I might not have liked some of his actions/words, but I could understand where he was coming from.

Overall, I am very satisfied with the book. It was easy to read and the romance was good. We saw Max and Keeley many times which added to the pros of the book.

An ambitious guy with a busy life and growing business, Clint Holmes was happy enough – until tragedy struck and now he only things that matters is making the person responsible pay. Bethany Banks is a Harvard educated shark so how can a blue-collar oil man possibly best her? The answer becomes obvious as soon as Clint lays eyes on his beautiful nemesis, but the more he gets to know the man-eater, the more he realizes she may not be the enemy he thought she was. When the past comes back to wreak vengeance and the truth explodes, Clint will have to prove that he’s more than tempted to love her forever.

This ‘More Than Words’ romance is more than suspenseful and gripping, it is a romance that is full of sweetness but one that hides sneaky emotions and truths while the characters get to know one another and open their hearts to possibilities. Clint and Beth have a sizzling awareness of each other that flows from the pages as readers become caught up in the very real emotional turmoil that plagues each of them especially with how convincing and real these characters are.

The plot is fast paced and the thrilling suspense builds throughout the plot as Clint begins to uncover the truth behind what really happened. This series revolves around the Reed family and the tragedy of selfish parents and readers couldn’t help but fall for each of the siblings and their significant others but Bethany’s story is even more powerful emotionally since she lived with the illusion of a father that came crashing down. This makes this story a powerfully mesmerizing & intensely thrilling one that readers can’t put down once they pick it up.

More Than Tempt You by Shayla Black is book 5 in the More Than Words series. This is Bethany Banks and Clint Holmes's story.
The underlying thread that runs in this read is loss, revenge, betrayal, sins of the father, and forgiveness. This has a bit of the twist to the enemies to lovers theme - Clint is desperate for answers to what caused his father's death and the destruction of his/their business. He believes the person responsible for their problems and the cause is Bethany so he sets out to( with the help of a new fake identity) to make sure Bethany pays for the destruction she and her boss( aka father) caused his family but what happens when Clint finds out Bethany is just is as much a victim, if not more so than him ? By now he has fallen head over heels in love with her and she doesn't know she started off as just a means to an end.
Will Clint be able to get Bethany, their HEA and closure ?
This is an emotional, powerful, moving read about loss, betrayal, revenge and being able to let go while embracing love. The story is full-bodied, great characters, steamy and has great feels. Loved the heat and rollercoaster ride of emotions that alwsys come with a Shayla Black romance read. I can't wait for the next book.

Number 5 in the More Than Words series still has the alpha man, the Reed siblings, the Hawaii location, and the romance but More than Tempt You reads like a mystery, suspense novel. (honestly, all in one book!)

It begins:
"I'm Clint Holmes. I was an ambitious guy with a busy life and a growing business. Sure North Dakota wasn't a tropical paradise, but I was happy enough - until tragedy struck. Now the only thing that matters is finding the person responsible and making her pay. But Bethany Banks is a Harvard-educated shark used to swallowing her enemies whole while playing dangerous corporate games. How can a blue-collar oil man like me possibly beat her?"
"The moment I lay eyes on my beautiful nemesis, the answer is obvious. I seduce her."

I mean seriously, just that makes you want to lay down in bed, ignore your family, and just sink in! So.... that's what I did and I wasn't disappointed. You won't be either. Grab this book and go hide. It's that good.

4.5 Star reviews of More Than Tempt You (More Than Words #5) by Shayla Black

The fifth book in the series and this one is just as good as the first four books. This is Clint Holmes and Bethany (Beth) Banks’ story.
What an emotional roller coaster More Than Tempt You was, with a plenty of highs and lows that will keep you captivated from the first to the last chapter.
Determined to seek revenge on the woman who has caused so much pain to his family, Clint tracks her down in Hawaii. Imagine his shock when she is not at all what he was expecting. Instead he finds a woman who is vulnerable and not at all the corporate shark he expected.
The chemistry between Clint and Bethany is intense and almost overpowering. What will happen when the truth comes out? Will Clint be able to convince Bethany that the feelings he has developed are real even though their relationship started out based on lies?
Shayla Black writes stories that are strong, full of emotion and gripping. This series seems to get better and better with each book and I look forward to reading more in this series in the not to distant future.

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, heat, secrets, and sweet love.

If you have not already read the below I would recommend reading those books first:
More Than Want You (More Than Words, #1)
More Than Need You (More Than Words #2)
More Than Love You (More Than Words, #3)
More Than Crave You (More Than Words #4)

This is Bethany and Clint’s story. Clint is out for revenge and he is willing to take it out on the one person he thinks is responsible. He goes after her and when he finds her, he knows he will have to seduce her in order to take her down. But she is so different then he expected. She is almost the opposite of what he was led to believe. He just knows she is somehow acting right? What happens when he finally seduces her? What happens when all the secrets come out? Was he right or wrong and if he was wrong will she ever forgive what he had planned? Can he win back her trust and win her love or is this the end?

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book.

You know .... I thought I'd read my favorite in this series already .... I was wrong

The best part for me in this story was uncovering the real Bethany. You have to read between the lines. You have to look beyond the words. It wasn’t just that Clint was discovering her, so were we, or at least I was. This wasn’t just a situation of surprising the reader with an unexpected twist. Bethany had layers that you could easily miss if you looked at the surface only. So don’t just read the words on the paper, kindle lol, read beyond them. She might surprise you ;)

The second best part was experiencing Clint’s journey from a man dead set on revenge to a man … maybe not. The story is in his POV (until the very end) so you are in his head throughout and man did he give me all the feels! Emotionally and sexually! If it is one thing this author can write is damn good sexy! #TRUST on that! And she mixed the emotional journey with the sexual chemistry flawlessly between these two.

One last thing … do not be fooled into thinking the mystery/suspense/who did what in this journey is predictable and that you will see everything coming at you as you read … you won’t.

It’s giving more thoughts. It’s lies and deception and double and triple crossing!! This series doesn’t have a lot of plot per se but it’s a lot of LORE. You need much context to explain the intertwining elements. This was angsty and suspensey hehehe I liked it.

More Than Tempt You is book five in the More Than Words series and this book is just as good as the first four in the series, if not better.

In this book, we have Clint and Bethany, and their whirlwind relationship, and oh wow... it is one hell of a ride.

Clint is tough, a little rough and strong, but has had some tragedy happen in his life and is left devastated, and he's on a mission to get the woman responsible for it, he wants to see the person pay for what they've done to his family, it's the only thing that is keeping him going, getting revenge on the person behind this tragedy, but once he comes face to face with this woman, he comes to realize things are not always what they seem, and what he originally had planned, has gone straight out the window.

Bethany's side of this story has her having to deal with some hard truths in her life, after going into hiding from people who don't like her and are out to get her, she is forced to face a lot of home truths after having to go and stay with her sibling, a place that she's not entirely sure she even deserves to be there.

As the two get to know each other, Clint struggles to believe that this woman is even capable of all the crimes and horrible things she has done. She's not at all what he expected and it has him conflicted. They become closer and a bond is formed, and they both realize that together they can work, they are better off together, they are more when they come together. But how can this work? How can a relationship work when it started out the way it has? Lies.

These two together are intense, they were such a delight to read about. I was completely hooked by the end of chapter one, but I had no doubt in my mind that, that would be the case. Shayla Black continues to deliver amazing books and this book is no exception and it is a perfect addition to this series. The author knows how to hold her readers' attention and always leaves them craving more.

I loved this, I think it's become my favorite of all the books so far to this series. I highly recommend it. Although these books can be read as standalone, you get a better understanding if read in order.

5 amazing stars!
