Council of Angels #1

A Council of Angels: Book One of the Council of Angels Religious Fiction Series

Rate this book
YOU’VE NEVER READ A STORY ABOUT ANGELS QUITE LIKE THIS… After miraculously surviving a head-on collision with a drunk driver, 27-year-old “self made” Bass Martinez begins to realize his successful business and beach house haven’t brought him the happiness he’s worked so hard for. Fighting feelings of loneliness and even depression, Bass unexpectedly meets four guardian angels who offer to help him find his “life’s greatest treasure.” In a soul-searching trip through Europe and back home to Huntington Beach, California, Bass faces his deepest fears while learning new ways to view the people around him, including coming to a profound understanding of his mysterious team of angels who hold a truth for him that could bring yet another life-saving miracle. Emotionally compelling at times while remaining upbeat and comedic, you’ll join Bass on his inspirational journey as he learns the answer to one of life’s most pressing questions, “What is the purpose of my life?" *** If you're a fan of The Shack by WM Paul Young or The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom, then you're going to love this book! A COUNCIL OF ANGELS IS A MODERN TAKE ON SPIRITUALITY WITH A THEME THAT'S BOTH MOTIVATIONAL AND FUN.

This book is the first novel in the Council of Angels religious fiction series. *** There are so many things to love about Sean Marshall’s, A Council of Angels . Particularly in today’s climate, this novel is a sweet breath of fresh air. It’s current and feet-on-ground-real, yet it’s other-worldly. You’re somehow in two places at once. It’s about faith and lack of faith. It’s about serving ourselves or serving others. It’s about honest struggles to believe in something or someone bigger than our own egos and agendas. Marshall’s ability to paint a vibrant scene with details are so good, you are smack-dab in the middle of the story, yourself. There’s a fun chemistry and intrigue between characters, the locales are captivating, it’s just spot-on entertaining and enlightening. The thing I felt from the start was that this was not only a great novel, this is a movie-waiting-to-happen. Start popping the popcorn, get ready to laugh and shed a few tears. Maybe in the process, be a little changed for the better. Pamela Capone, author of I Punched Myself in the Eye and The Little Love That Could ***

A book with a good message:

I wasn't sure what to expect at the onset of reading this book as it was a book that was out of my "normal" genre. Let's just say, "Don't Judge a Book by its Title" and give this book a chance. The book has a good message, one that everyone should take and practice daily whether you are religious or not.

Simple message & fun to read

I just got this yesterday and couldn’t put it down!

After a hook and a short set up, the author doesn't waste time revealing the theme that's so prevalent throughout the book. I won't spoil it here but it's a good theme that works well with the rest of the story. And the genre too for that matter.

The actual story follows a "cool" surfer guy living in southern California who prides himself on running his own business and then meets 4 guardian angels. The angels become really interesting as the book goes on and there's more to them but again, I won't spoil that here either. I will say I had my suspicions about them and it was fun to see it play out. The main character and his friend go on a trip to Europe where he learns more about the angels, why they're helping him, and how they help him as he faces some of his own challenges.

Overall, I liked the story. It wasn't heavy like some other inspirational or religious fiction and I liked that the author kept it fun to read - more like a YA novel. Simple, fun quick read.

I loved this book! I don't usually read books in this genre but I was glad I read this one! There is so much to relate to in the story of Bass and I really appreciate that his journey took time. So often with books about a change of heart, it's like a snap of the fingers. But that's not how real life is. Real change takes time and I felt that's exactly what this book captured- real life- but without it dragging out. The perspective of the angel as the story teller was also a unique touch that I loved. The main idea of service as love is one I'm now constantly thinking of and trying to remember each day.

Wonderful book! I loved it because it is spiritual without being religious. Every person could benefit from reading a book like this. It talks about the human experience in general, noting events that we all encounter at one point or another. Despite the colloquial style, there are still some hard-hitters. The book leaves you feeling closer to your family and pushes you to work harder to appreciate them. By the end of the book I was sobbing! Really, really good read. Makes you think and view the world differently.

I found this book in my drawer with a book mark in the 3rd chapter. I started re reading it and kept on because I was watching over my mom in the hospital. I liked the book ok. There's no information on the author so I don't think he writes a lot of books.

A feel good read with lots of profound tear-jerking moments and some fun humor. Overall a worthwhile and moving book that I’ll definitely continue with the next book in the series. (Camille)
