I was stripped of all my own desires and wants when I was married to my ex-husband. I now carry a list with me—a list that will help me choose a man that will put me first in life. Then the storm cloud of an entitled millionaire appears in my life and knocks me off my axis. This man sends so many mixed signals, my body either quakes with anger or passion when I’m around him.
I'm his son's teacher and his tenant, but I find myself wanting more.
Leo:
My life is run with precision with little regard for others until a woman in crazy clothes challenges me to be a better father. She’s one of the few people that puts me in my place and maybe for this very reason—I want her more than I can articulate. With her failed marriage and list of requests she needs from her next partner, I know she’s my future. My life is less than perfect, and with it—baggage that follows me everywhere. Does she want my kind of crazy in her life?
I'm her landlord and an a**hole, but I find myself wanting more.
Where to begin? For starters, you must love coffee...
After all, 425 Madison Avenue is the perfect place to fall in love.
Leigh Lennon is mother, veteran and a wife of a cancer survivor. Originally with a degree in education, she started writing as an outlet that has led to a deep passion. She lugs her computer with her as she crafts her next story. One could say she loves pretty nails, big earrings and spiky hair. She can be found drinking coffee or wine, depending on the time of the day.
I Love, Love, Loved, Must Love Coffee! The playlist Leigh curated was perfect; it set the mood and tempo for the book and I loved it.
I cannot tell you how much I loved Gwen; Leigh did a fabulous job creating the characters for this book. Gwen is a teacher, a great mom, strong, funny, quirky, and doesn't take anyone's crap. She designs her own clothes, loves Harry Potter, and she's a Hufflepuff! I seriously want to be Gwen when I grow up. Leo on the other hand didn't make a great first impression with me, but he did redeem himself. Leo is a bit of a dick, he's used to getting his way without anyone fighting him, and an absent father; other people dealt with his kids. But when Gwen challenges him during a teacher parent meeting, Leo realizes he hasn't been there for his kids and resolves to change the issue immediately.
Gwen is the first person to challenge Leo, and he becomes smitten with her. As it turns out, Gwen's daughter Luna(♡♡♡) and Leo's daughter Olive are BFFs, which is a surprise to both parents, and when Leo calls to schedule a playdate for the girls, the romance begins.
Gwen discloses her past relationship with her ex-husband, and tells Leo she has a "Must Love" list of 10 thing he must love with her, in order to move forward with their relationship. The first on her list is "Must Love Coffee". As their romance grows, Gwen slips Leo notes with more of her Must Loves. Leo soon comes to realize her list isn't anything crazy or outlandish, just normal things one would expect to love about their spouse, partner or even friend. Their romance and love grows, with some bumbs in the road, and the family gets the HEA they deserve.
This is the first book of Leigh Lennon's that I have read, and was an ARC I recieved in exchange for an honest review. I am now a huge fan and will definitely be reading more of Leigh's books.
First time reading this author and I found that the plot was in need of pacing work in some places. I had a hard time keeping with it from time to time as the plot dragged but it would eventually redeem itself.
This single mom (and single dad) second chance romance was cute. I don’t know if I found it overly romantic for my taste but the notes were a cute touch to the new romance budding between Leo and Gwen.
Paused This was my first read by this author, I struggled with the pacing and some of the events in the book but I continued. Then I made it to the first sex scene between these two and I just couldn't go on. The descriptions just had me laughing and shaking my head. I figured after plodding through a boring and at times confusing story at least the sexy times would be good. Nope just not my cuppa. I'm trying the next one in the series though
I loved this book so much! It made me sad, angry but mainly happy!
Gwen is a divorced school teacher raising her daughter in a small one bedroom apartment, she loves her little girl more than anything else.
Leo is a divorced father of two, he has withdrawn from his kids and when he comes face to face with his We son’s teacher and head teacher over concerns for his son’s education he demands that the teacher is dismissed from her job!
The teacher is Gwen, and when she tells Leo exactly what she thinks he is shocked and stunned that she dared speak to him like she did!
What follows is a truly lovely story of love and forgiveness, when two people have to overcome heartache and disappointment from their previous partners to finally find the way forward to a life both they and their children deserve!
This was a nice read for me. I wasn’t a big fan of Leo in the very beginning. I didn’t really need to know he had f buddies or hooked up with a mom from the school, I thought that info was pointless. It made me keep thinking ow drama was going to pop up any second, thankfully there wasn’t any. After a bit Leo becomes a fantastic man, father and boyfriend. He is literally perfect. I hated having the image of him as a nasty manwhore. Sometimes less is more. Gwen was a wonderful mother and overall woman. I loved her quirky style, I am also a Harry Potter and Marvel fanatic! The two had amazing chemistry together and were an awesome pair! I loved Leo’s complete devotion to Gwen, he was definitely smitten from the get go. Looking forward to reading more in this series! Safety This book is completely safe. There are mentions of past ow. H and h are divorced with children. There is no ow drama but the h’s ex tries to cause trouble in family court. He is a horrible man and father. There is no abuse.
This a cute, sweet little romance. A second chance at love.
Harry Potter obsessed Gwen was happily married. Until her husband became someone she hardly recognised. Money corrupted him. She stayed as long as she did for the sake of their daughter Luna.
Now Leo Eastman is used to getting his own way. His first meeting with his son’s teacher doesn’t quite go as planned. Ms Ambrose (Gwen) lets him know he’s partly at fault.
Leo then does a full 180 and he’s intrigued. And for the first time since his divorce he feels he might want more.
First of all....where can I put my order in for my very own Leo Eastman?? Honestly...he is THE REASON I read and love this romance genre. The jerk with the gooey-marshmallow center. All he needed was to meet the quirky, strong-willed Gwen Ambrose.
This story has it all! Great pace. Sweet & Swoon-worthy chapters. Believable characters you want to meet in real life. Lots of awesome Harry Potter references! Sexy scenes with some delicious dirty talk.
If all of these 425 Madison series books are this great...I'm in for an awesome year!!!
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book....and Leigh Lennon is a new to me author...how lucky am I????
Oh how my heart swelled reading Gwen & Leo’s story. A perfect romantic tale, that kept me tapping through the pages. The love they had for their children and being able to connect their two broken families into one big very happy one was heart warming. This is the first book that I’ve read by Leigh Lennon and I will be checking out more of her books now.
There is no question in my mind: Must Love Coffee is my favourite Leigh Lennon read.
I’ve read almost all of Leigh Lennon’s books – the only one I have yet to read is The Last Breath, and that is sitting on my Kindle – and have enjoyed them all. As with any author, I’ve enjoyed some books more than others. However, I have not enjoyed any as much as I enjoyed Must Love Coffee. It gripped me good, and from the very first page I was unable to put it down.
I will be honest and say I went in expecting something completely different to the type of story I received. When I read ‘sweet romance’, I think a step above ‘clean romance’. Stories with little to no profanity, and the minimum when it comes to sexual situations. With this, however, ‘sweet’ referred to the way the story played out instead of the type of story we were given. The way things developed between the characters and the events were adorable, hence why I was seeing ‘sweet romance’ in relation to this. I just thought I’d make that known before people dive into this one expecting something vastly different to what they receive.
As I’ve just stated, Must Love Coffee is sweet in relation to the way things develop between the characters. I wasn’t quite sure if I was going to ship them at first, but in no time at all I was feeling all the feels when it came to the characters. I loved them as individuals, I loved them as a couple, I loved the family, and I loved all the little details that came to light throughout.
This may be a quick little read, but it certainly has a lot packed into it. There is plenty to enjoy throughout, plenty of aspects that will leave you wanting more, and by the end you’ll be more than willing to pick up the other books in this series.
Without a doubt, the 425 Madison series kicked off with a great start due to Leigh Lennon, and I cannot wait to see what the rest of the books bring us. Already I’m eager for more – especially when it comes to certain characters.
This story grabbed me from the opening page and continued to build on my emotions as it went along. The characters are relatable, just like in real life. There are people we love and people we love to despise. This book has them all. Plus we have a story that brings the smiles, laughs, heartache and heat. The author weaved a terrific tale, with a few surprises along the way.
If you read the blurb you get the gist of the story so there’s no need to go further into that because I don’t do spoilers. I feel it’s unfair to the author and to the reader. I will tell you, it’s well worth the read. With that being said, I’ll also tell you a favorite quote from the book. For some reason this particular line really touched me.
“He’s given me back my self worth with these spoils. It’s something my body has missed without knowing it. All of this is like a vitamin and boost for my soul”.
For some reason that quote touched something deep inside me, especially the last part. Don’t we all need and want that energized feeling in our life in all aspects, to be valued, spoiled and touched to our deepest core, to feel important and worthwhile in every way. We should be ready to get up again and feel like we can tackle anything while feeling good about ourselves? As you can see I got a lot out of the quote. I felt it was fresh and not a retread line. I couldn't wait to highlight it so I wouldn’t forget.
Gwen is the mother we all want to be and Leo is the guy we all want to meet. The kids are too adorable and unique. What I really admire is that there is so much more to this story than just a love story. There’s everyday problems, along with intrigue, happiness, sorrow, insecurities and some secrets. What I like best though (besides love) is there’s hope.
We also get to meet some very interesting secondary characters which I’m hoping are main characters in subsequent books.
As you can tell by now I really liked this book. I’ve read other works by this author and let me tell you this is one of my favorites. I felt it was real. If the other books in this series are as good as this then we are in for a treat. I read this in one sitting and the time flew. Kudos to the author. Can’t wait to meet more of the neighbors at 425 Madison.
I'm going to admit, this is the first time ever that I've read the author, Leigh Lennon's work but I wasn't disappointed at all! I loved Leo and Gwen's story, plus the kids were truly what made this story such a beautiful, funny and wonderful read :) <3
Leo and Gwen's stories are actually relatable to real life. This does happen in real life so this story made it more enjoyable to read as the pages flew by :)
Here, Gwen is a young, single mother of her adorable daughter, Luna and is a teacher at a private school, where Leo's kids attend. Fate had a hand in this meeting and joining of soul-mates because once these two meet, it's like they were meant to meet and you can actually feel it in the words and the thoughts of each character, especially Leo's and it was amazing and beautiful to experience :)
The secondary characters were great too. Now, in this story, the secondary characters, there are some you will love and there are some you will hate but they all make the story more intriguing, funny and the author, Leigh Lennon, truly wrote an amazing second chance at love story <3
This is the first story of this new series, "425 Madison Series", which is being co-written by three different but awesome authors and I'm already excited and anticipating the next stories! :)
Must Love Coffee is the first book in a new series collaboration taking place in the fictional building, 425 Madison Avenue. Each book is written by a different author and can be read as a stand alone. The nice thing about a series like this is there is something for everyone in the way of romance type and author.
Must Love Coffee was an OK read for me. I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it. There were parts I liked. I loved the "Must Love" list that Gwen gave to Leo in the form of notes. Those were fun. I also liked how quickly Leo was willing to change and be a bigger part of his kids life. What I didn't care for was Leo and Gwen as a couple. I just didn't feel the connection between the two of them. For me there was zero chemistry. Their love scenes had some cheesy dialogue and took away from what could have been great scenes. The other thing that drove me nuts were the Harry Potter references. But that is probably because I'm not a rabid fan of the series or the world.
As I said, this one wasn't bad, it just wasn't totally for me. I look forward to exploring the rest of the series.
Must love coffee by Leigh Lennon. Gwen: I was stripped of all my own desires and wants when I was married to my ex-husband. Leo: My life is run with precision with little regard for others until a woman in crazy clothes challenges me to be a better father. This was a fantastic read with great characters. At first I didn't like Leo. He grew on me. I didn't like Dwayne at all. Bought tears to my eyes. I loved the ending. Perfect. 5*.
Gwen has finally gotten out of her loveless marriage and has decided that the next person that she lets into her and her daughters life will have to meet her list of criteria's. She refuses to go through what her ex husband put her through and now is the time that she finally gets to live her life for her and her daughter only. Leo decided after his marriage blew up that love was not worth it. Working hard to make sure that his children are taken care of, he forgets the most important thing about being a parent. All the money in the world could never replace you actually being there for your children. The first time that Gwen and Leo meet, Leo realizes that Gwen is not that anyone he has ever met. She puts him in his place very quickly and he sees that she is correct. He instantly starts making changes in his life to be a better man and father hoping that Gwen will give him a second chance and get to know that man that he once was. Join Leo and Gwen as they work through her list of "must haves" and hopefully get their second chance at a love that they were meant to have.
What a fantastic start to this series of standalone books. If the rest of the books are like Must Love Coffee, then we’re all in for some enjoyable reads. I absolutely loved Leo and Gwen’s story. Their bantering is hilarious at times. I loved their first meeting, where she told him like it was after he demanded she be fired, from her teaching position. As you’re reading this book, Gwen gives Leo her Must Loves list. I can’t imagine being in the kind of marriage she had to endure with Dwayne. Please do yourself a favor and grab a copy of the fantastic read about two single parents getting what they most deserve. You will fall in love with Luna, Olive, and Teague, the children of Leo and Gwen.
This is a delightful, fun romance where divorcee Gwen is a primary teacher who is determined not to let any man undermine and control her like her ex-husband attempted to do. She's feisty and speaks up when the father of one of her pupils questions the progress his son is making, pointing out the lack of support and encouragement the child is receiving from home. I suspect this particularly appealed to me as a primary teacher who has endeavoured to encourage some parents to help support their children, though never quite as bluntly as Gwen does and never to a millionaire! This is a wake up call for the millionaire who is more used to people eagerly acceding to his requests, not putting him in his place! The attraction between them is mutual but she's reticent to allow any man into her life again and cites that she has a list of ten requests she needs a potential partner to request - the first of which is that he must like coffee, hence the title for the book. She reveals the others, usually one per date, as the two get to know each other and love grows . . . . but can he prove himself worthy of her love and can she learn to trust him?
This is a contemporary romance where the children play an integral part and the ex-husband is certainly a trigger for suspense and worry. It is an engaging story, with great characters and a brilliant introductory story in this new series based around her home address of 425 Madison Avenue and I'm really looking forward to reading more about the people living there in future.
I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and have chosen to read and review it.
What a beautiful story of second love. Gwen is a young, divorced Mother who teaches at a private school. One day she meets one of her students parents, Leo, and he turns her world upside down. But she has specific things she wants in her life if he is to be a part of it. Leo, also a divorced Father, will do what it takes to bring her into his life. I loved the interaction of these characters and not to mention the sizzling chemistry between them. This was my second read by this author, and I truly enjoyed it. Her writing style is very unique and refreshing. As I read, I hoped that Gwen and Leo would become a couple, and if you want to know, then you really must read this wonderful story. I am looking forward to reading more by this author.
I enjoyed Gwen and Leo's story. A sweet story of finding love after divorce. Gwen is a woman who does not take crap from anyone, Leo is no exception. She is trying to find herself after being married to a controlling man. When Leo questions her teaching skills, she fires right back about his parenting skills. After their little spat, Leo decides he wants to get to know this feisty teacher. Together they battle their pasts and find a way to a happy future.
Title: Must Love Coffee Author: Leigh Lennon Genre: Contemporary Romance **RECEIVED ARC FOR HONEST REVIEW** This is about a divorced mother who left an emotionally and mentally abusive husband. She really never thought she would find love again because this time she had a list, criteria a man has to meet to woo her. Enter a jaded divorced father who decides he is ready for love again. Plus it helps to court your love interest when you are very, VERY WEALTHY. So what makes this nice is Gwen and her criteria is actually very simple. Yup, money is great. It buys you lots of things, gets you in to places but inner peace and happiness? Nope. Money doesn't give you that. Moral of the book I guess? Really the book is a sweet love story without much drama or anything until towards the end. There is steam and the author tries to slow build the passion but that slow burn was a fizzle. The main sexual scenes were steamy. I do take issue with how the author keeps skirting around the character Mason's sexuality. Saying they are very very private but Leo knew...or at a party Mallory brought her boyfriend but Mason was waiting on his special someone. If you don't think people can handle m/m yeah they can. As an author making it sound like something is so different about this character because of their sexuality, sexuality you are writing, makes it seem like you have a problem with m/m. Technically the writing wasn't bad. It was a sweet story with very little drama. So it was difficult to stay interested.
What a great second chance romance! I couldn't put it down. Leo & Gwen were perfect from the get go, their chemistry was infectious. I enjoyed every minute of their romance. It was nice to be able to read about how well two adults and their children, from previous relationships, got along. Must Love coffee is a great read!.
This was a recommendation from a member of a Facebook group and I enjoyed it very much. It is as terrific love story about two people who get a second shot at happily ever after.
A must read...a sweet and romantic read as both main characters are in the process of recovering from divorce. It should have been their true love they married, but life happens and they are suddenly left alone to pick up their pieces. Pieces they pick up, one at a time in this heartwarming romantic story.
This was a awesome story. The must have that Gwen has will hit home but make you laugh at the same time. And Leo being so determined will just melt your heart. Do not miss.
Holy cuteness! Have you ever read a story that made your heart flutter? Did it also make you want to punch someone? What about get you all hot and bothered??? And then make you feel like a teenager in heat when they don't follow through right away??? This book did all those things to me and it wasn't a long, drawn out read! Leo Eastman totally made me smile like a lovesick fool! And Gwen was this awesome, kick ass woman who KNEW what she wanted and, after one crap marriage, was wasting no time trying to get it! 😍. These 2 made my heart sing! EVERYTHING about this book had me feeling good!!! Even the parts when I wanted to junk punch someone.... I was still feeling quite giddy over the budding romance!!! Totally worth all 5 🌟
I can’t stress enough how much I love this book! It made me laugh, cry, and swoon. I’ve read A LOT of romances in my life and this one will stay with me for a long time. It’s a beautiful story of how love makes us selfless, love makes us brave, and loves makes us stretch our boundaries.
Was I out of my ever-loving mind? Does he even like coffee? Did it matter because he’d wanted to put me first? And when I surprise my own self, telling him to basically chase me, his wink makes my whole body shake. If I wasn’t already trying to calm the kids from the idea of ooey-gooey pretzel goodness, my response may have been more than a simple smile.
Gwen Ambrose will do anything for her daughter. Even waive her rights to her slimy ex-husband Dwayne’s millions to get full custody and live on her teacher’s salary. But the awesome judge at the custody hearing has her ex’s number and awards Gwen more than she hoped for…to live a comfortable life with her daughter at Dwayne’s expense. When she thought her life was getting back on track, Leo Eastman stomps into her life and sweeps her off her feet. Could she find someone who could love her for herself?
What is it about the strawberry-blonde teacher in her crazy clothes that pulls at me? I want to get to know her over dinner, with her daughter and my kids. This will have Olive smiling like she hasn’t in years. The idea, this fantasy makes me—hell, happy.
Leo Eastman is used to getting his own way and when a beautiful and sassy teacher questions his bad parenting skills, he’s impressed and determined to get to know her better. But first, he must apologize by giving her a cup of her favorite joe every day when he takes his two children Teague and Olive to school. He hasn’t opened his heart since his divorce, but she makes him laugh and she helped him take a look at his life and make it better.
Leo Eastman is my hero. He is so swoon-worthy and endearing with the way he takes care of Gwen and Luna, and the way he stands up to Gwen’s ex had me cheering. Gwen is no slouch herself. The woman is smart and feisty, loves everything Harry Potter and makes her own unique and fun clothes with various books in mind. I also love the concept of her giving Leo her 10 “must loves” which are her expectations of things that her partner would accept from her and Leo cleverly nails each and every one. Let me add that the supporting characters are interesting as well including their children, Gwen’s friend Mallory, and Leo’s friend and Gwen’s boss, Mason.
Overall, Ms. Lennon has become one of my favorite authors and I can’t wait to read more of her books. If you love fast-paced, enemies to lovers romances with naughty teachers and hot businessmen, give this one a try. Recommend highly!
Thank you to Ms. Lennon for giving me the opportunity to read her book with no expectation of a positive review.
In Short - A sweet romance which follows to heart broken characters. - A great book to sit and relax with. - There were some missed opportunities to have made certain scenes more intense than they were.
In Long Must Love Coffee is a sweet, heart warming story which follows two characters that are both going through their own issues.
The chemistry and quirkiness between the two main characters really added to the story but, personally, I like a few more fireworks and felt there was some missed opportunities. That said Leo was totally swoon worthy and just what Gwen needs. Gwen is a bit more reserved though and Leo has a battle on his hands.
The story line was slow paced and a few things which did arise weren't built up to what they could have been. Especially a chapter with Gwen's daughter that I felt could have been a lot more intense and built up.
One of the characters goes through quite a big change of heart early on the book. I found this quite unrealistic and a missed chance for the reader to go through a journey with this character, it was very sudden, too sudden for me without the needed development. For me, how they went from stone hearted to gentle hearted person was too sudden and it wasn't until much later when their story and heart break was revealed it was clearer why they acted how they did. It felt like a missed opportunity which could have been a good journey for that character.
Final Thoughts Must Love Coffee is a great book to sit and relax with, it doesn't offer much in the way in suspense or gripping scenes but makes for a perfect chill out book which everyone needs at some point.
Quotes 'Every time I see you, you make my day brighter.'
'This is what this women does to me. She makes me lose my mind in her presence.'
'You've brought colour back into my life and shined a light I hadn't seen for a while.'
'She's my piece of heaven - and my little bit of devil that only I get to see.'
