I'm sorry, I really tried, but I just couldn't swallow this disappointment. It started well, with a gang of 4 men (thieves), vs a determined young psychologist working on her PhD, of which the theme is Stockholm Syndrome. She finds a former hostage who developed this syndrome while being captured by none other than the said 4 men, who decide to capture the psychologist herself, assuming she's nosing around for other purposes. There was some violence in the process at first, making me think it was going to be a dark problematic book, I got excited cuz I LOVE problematic stuff that makes my brain do some work, but then it simply fell flat. I understand the authors maybe didn't want to make it too disturbing for the readers, so instead of using the plot's potential to make it a psychological thriller, they turned it into an amateur-ish twisted romance. The 4 men, despite being ruthless scary criminals, didn't go overboard in miştreating the psy and didn't abųse her, despite her being helpess and starved, which honestly made no sense and was extra unrealistic. Later, they felt guilty for what they did to her but decided to keep her as a friend-hostage. Slowly, she bonded with them, and they became buddies, all while every one of them wanted to feck her and she wanted to feck their "boss", who kept resisting every golden opportunity she gave him. Why? I dropped the book before knowing why cuz I got too bored of the same lines repeated over and over again.
I wanted to read crimes, not draggy seggs!
Maybe I'll pick it up again someday in the future, but not any soon 🤷🏻‍♀️
