OMG....I didn't think Jacob could write a more swoon worthy character than Trevor from Tackle, but man, I think he just might have. Just finished Jock, which is the next installment in the Boston Terriers series, and I have 2 words: Owen Dawson!! I am head over heels in love with him. As soon as smart, beautiful Eliza Michel is asked to tutor Boston University's sexy as sin quarterback, Owen Dawson, she knows she is a goner. Quite frankly I was a goner too! This book has all the feels. Its funny, sweet, heartwarming and sexy. All the things I've come to love with this series. Plus the banter between the fellas is always fantastic. Gahhhh! If you haven't checked out this series, you definitely should. But be ready to fall in love.

'Jock' is the fifth book in the 'Boston Terriers' series by Jacob Chance.

I've read many books by this author, but he never fails to astonish me. I was looking for a light, and fun, swoon-worthy sports romance, and this was definitely 'it'!!

Owen is the popular jock, and the captain of the football team, that is until one scandal rocks his world.

Eliza and Owen first meet when she is leaving the frat house after she crashes there with a friend. She is appointed as his tutor and their witty banter was fun to watch.

I really loved Eliza, although she was studious and intelligent, she wasn't portrayed as a 'goody-two shoes' kinda girl which I really liked.

These two were perfect together. They say opposites attract, but will they work things out amidst all the lies, or will Eliza end up with her heart broken once again?

Logan Chance never disappoints me. If you're looking for a light, swoon-worthy romance, you should definitely check this book out now;)

(P.S: Can we just take a moment to appreciate the cover🔥 🔥 )

Oh. My. God. To say I loved this book would be a damn understatement. IT. WAS. PERFECTION. Just wow.

ARC received in exchange for an honest review

Give me a sports romance and I’m putty in your hands. Sports romance’s are my absolute weakness and this beauty just hit the damn spot, head on.

Eliza and Owen are two characters I know I won’t be forgetting anytime soon. They’re both complete opposites and Jock just proves that sometimes opposites do in fact attract.

Owen is a jock, a beautiful, muscly jock that could have any woman he could possibly want. Eliza is a loner and keeps herself to herself after being hurt in the past. From the very first moment Eliza and Owen met I was rooting for them, I knew they’d be the perfect couple. Watching their friendship blossom has been so much fun.

I have so much love for this book right now. Jock was unexpected for me. It was fun, sexy, a little angsty and freaking tugs on your heart strings. I found myself more often than not feeling all the freaking feels that this book gave off and I LOVE IT!

This is my first read by Jacob Chance and if the other books from this author is anything like this one then I need to get started on reading the other books because this writing is amazing and I’m in awe. Kudo’s to this author for writing this amazing book. A huge five stars from me.

When Owen Dawson is suspended from Boston U's football team, then attacked afterward, he is naturally a little down on life. Until he meets the cute girl who's going to tutor him while he catches up with the schoolwork he missed out on while in the hospital. Eliza has the wrong idea about Owen. She figures he is the typical cocky manwhore football player that all jocks are. Until she starts tutoring him and finds out he's actually a sweetheart with a huge heart. As the two fall effortlessly into first friendship, then more, I was cheering them on because they were so cute together.

But Eliza had more than one secret she hadn't let Owen in on and I was cringing because I knew when the bombshells were dropped on him, he wasn't going to react well, and he didn't. But it was understandable, because Eliza's secrets were pretty big, and significant to him in unpleasant ways, especially her last secret. I honestly wanted to shake her for not owning up to things much earlier in their relationship, but I could also understand her perspective, so I was torn. Luckily for her, Owen was more understanding than the average 21-year-old male, and he loved her, so he was able to get past her secrets.

I've been lucky lately with the New Adult stuff I've been reading because this is the second one that I've loved, that is full of depth and heart and wonderful characters. Owen and Eliza and all the secondary cast, are amazing, especially Owen! The man is so damn swoony that it was hard to remember how young he was. I love how gently and patiently he wooed Eliza, and how completely understanding he was. Yes, he reacted pretty badly to her secrets, but he could have reacted much worse and she honestly would have deserved it for keeping such huge things from him. He really is one of the best heroes I've read lately. I haven't read any of the other stories in the Boston Terriers series, but I plan to now that I've fallen in love with Owen and his friends!

I can not sympathize with a hero who has an affair with a married woman for 6 months.
And he does not regret it, sex was good and she was cool, according to him.
He is an adult, for God's sake, he has no excuse for this deplorable and irresponsible behavior. He risked his career for sex with an older, married woman who worked for the team.
The beating he took was nothing, in my opinion.
He is not worthy.
I gave up and I'll move on.

“It doesn’t get much worse than sleeping with your athletic trainer. Did you know she was married?” “Yes, sir.”

“Six months.” “Are you fucking kidding me?” “No, sir. We started spending time together outside of the gym six months ago.” “This wasn’t a once or twice thing. You guys had a full-blown affair.” “Yes, sir.”

“I hope it was worth it,” Coach sighs. His slumped shoulders hint at his displeasure and his eyes are full of disappointment. “It pains me to do this, but you’re stripped of your captaincy for the rest of the season and suspended from the team for the final three games. Unfortunately, that means no post-season play for you either.”

“It was your trainer’s husband. Apparently, he didn’t like you banging his wife.” He grins. “I knew you had the Dawson genes in you and this proves it.”

I must get in touch with Hannah. I need to know how her husband found out about us and make sure she’s okay.

Raking my teeth over my bottom lip, I think about Hannah. I tried to call her yesterday as soon as the hospital discharged me, but her number had been disconnected.

“Dude, that must’ve been some amazing pussy for you to risk football.” Clancy holds his fist out for me to bump and I flip him off instead.

“So you got comfortable having consistent pussy without a relationship to go along with it,” Clancy interjects. “Even though she was married?”

“Owen?” Dad prods, running a hand over his long, sandy brown beard. I shake my head. “No. Our affair wasn’t worth the consequences. I was dumb to let it happen.”

“Fidelity won’t be hard for me. I haven’t been with anyone besides Hannah in months.”

Wow...just, wow. I don’t even know where to begin with how amazing this book is. This series is one of my favorites and I always look forward to the next knowing it will be amazing, but Jock blew me away. It was one of those stories that, unexpectedly, reaches you all the way to your heart, yet you still are laughing along because it’s full of humor and wit... something Jacob is known for.

When Quarterback for the Boston Terriers, Owen Dawson, meets the smart and beautiful Eliza Michel all you think is really? Total opposites. When really, you have a match made. Eliza tries desperately hard not to fall for the sweet, sexy Owen, she wants to stay on track with her school work and grades, but the more time she spends with him the more she sees how much more there is to him, and that he isn’t just a typical “jock”.

This story is full of laughs, emotion, and all the feels. Its a story you can find yourself connecting to. I always say this but sincerely recommend this book.... the whole series. It’s an amazing 5 star read.

I have loved the Boston Terriers since I picked up Penalty over a year ago and with each swoon worthy jock I have fallen more in love with them , but Owen had just dethroned my Brady as TOP DOG! Wow I couldn’t have pictured a better story or person for Owen and for the first part of the book I was so in the dark of where things would go and who would be his woman!

The twists and turns Chance provided just solidified his amazing ability to write stories that are full of intrigue and will leave you the reader absolutely speechless! He created to characters that were so perfect together and what made them perfect was just how imperfect they were! I love how strong both hero and heroine were and how outspoken each one was as well! That’s the one thing that keeps me coming back to the Terriers! They are Honest and up front! No nonsense bull crap and when they fall they fall hard!

OMG!!! I just loved loved loved Owen and Eliza!!! Owen wasn’t your typical popular college quarterback. He was decent and smart; he was funny, kind and gorgeous. And he loved his family and was a loyal friend. He met Eliza when she was picked to tutor him after an incident which had him behind on school work. He was intrigued by the studious beauty but nothing was rushed.

Eliza was studious, mature and organized but she disliked jocks because of a bad experience. She was gorgeous but her main focus was school and no one can have her stray away from what’s important; until Owen. She was not like the typical fan girl but they were both attracted to each other. I loved that little by little she got to know the real Owen and stopped classifying him liked every other jock. This was a very slow build and I enjoyed every minute of it.

They were incidents and situations that will make you gasp with some unexpected things being revealed. And then they are moments with Owen’s family that will have you rolling with laughter. Both had amazing family members and friends.

These two had moments that will have you holding your head and seriously think that they might not get their HEA but then you see how much they’ve grown and learned from each other and everything is all good.

Then there’s the epilogue, hahahahaha. THE funniest one I’ve read in such a long time that leaves me wanting to read more of these two.

Owen and Eliza
4.5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
POV: Dual

This is the second Boston Terriers book that I've read. And thoroughly enjoyed it.
It can be read as a standalone.
Quite a bit of banter between the characters, which I loved.

Owen's aim is to get into NFL, he lives for football. Until something personal becomes public knowledge that gets him suspended from the team. The Dean then assigns Eliza to him to tutor him.
Eliza, nerd, bit of a germaphobe, ocd, likes order. After having a bad experience with a football player in her freshman year, she's sworn off athletes especially football players.

"Being with Eliza makes me feel better. I don't know what it is about her, but she calms me without having to try. She makes my head stop spinning."~Owen

Eliza has secrets she wants to keep to herself. She also wants to let Owen in like what he's sharing with her but doesn't know how or when to tell him.
He eventually finds out.
Do they make it work, or do they go their different ways?

This was another great read from Jacob Chance. I can't wait to see who's next.

Jacob Chance has done it again with another fantastic book that made me fall in love with the characters of the Boston Terriers world! Owen and Eliza are just so great, I just know everyone else will fall in love with them too.

Owen is the captain of the football team, but after a mistake his world starts to spiral out of control. Owen is such a great character, he is real, he shows his emotions which I just love. He is so sweet and caring towards Eliza, he seriously is the perfect guy!

Eliza has been hurt big in the past, which clouds her judgement in the future. She has a secret, well a couple of them actually. She is academic and is set to help Owen with the school work he has missed. Can Eliza resist Owen’s charm?

I really really loved this book. It is probably my favourite from the Boston Terrier world. I really REALLY want to know more about Jameson as well, so I hope he is in the future. As well as Nolan! All the characters in this world are just so great, Mr Chance certainly knows how to write a book that will keep you intrigued with everyone! This book actually made me tear up a couple of times, It is packed with so much emotion that I could feel it all. I seriously love this book and I hope you do too.

Oh Owen freaking Dawson... your remorseful attitude after that big as reveal in the opening chapter - got me feeling some true redemption!

I really enjoyed this sweet read. Jacob Chance really knows how to get his heroes on point! Dawson after everything in the beginning, was such a great character to read about. His true nature and the progress of his character was awesome. Eliza was great - though I had a couple of things I had a problem with in regards to ‘her’ only, her own remorsefulness in the end is something I approved of.

This book covered a lot of great things that is so vital and important in life. Especially when it comes to our actions and how it could affect others!!!

Personal thoughts: Sometimes, we need to remember that our actions have consequences. Good and/or bad. Our actions could either be a blessing or unknowingly and/or unintentionally hurt others. Either way, there’s consequences to every choice we make. So JC’s writing in this reminded me of that.

One-Click this when it’s out!!! Keep up with JC’s books. Thanks for the arc JC. Enjoyed getting to know Owen and how he went about scoring that HEA he deserved.

DNF 55%. I just wasn’t feeling the love here. The couple declare their feelings and I just wonder why. I am not getting the bond, nor the chemistry. I don’t really understand why the h’s daughter is such a secret and I’m starting to feel annoyed that she isn’t being more forthcoming about it. And I’m a little bored by the niceness of their relationship. It’s probably just me. This is my second JC novel, maybe it’s just not meant to be between us. The jury is out. I might return to this at a later date.

Eliza Michel is asked for a favour by the dean of students at the Boston University where she attends. What she didn’t bank on was being asked to tutor Owen Dawson, the quarterback for the university football team. A good-looking guy with a promising future playing for the NFL, he is everything the girls want except Eliza isn’t drawn into that. A popular guy with a reputation as all the football players for The Boston Terriers have. It’s apparent when they start working together that they enjoy each other’s company. Eliza sees Owen in a different light, not what she was expecting at all. Nonetheless, she doesn’t want to get too attached and risk her heart being broken.

Eliza is a nerd and has been through some heartbreaking events in the past, so she keeps herself very guarded. Owen is a good-looking guy that has made some terrible mistakes in his life and now has to focus on his school work before he jeopardizes his future at the university. They become closer and Owen manages to talk Eliza to go on a date with him. Eliza is apprehensive but so intrigued, she agrees.

The banter between the two had me smiling and I was really rooting for the two of them. I thought the story would be a slow build up to a new developing sweet romance; however, I wasn’t expecting the twists and turns I got. Their pasts I guess would inevitably catch up with them, especially as I'd discovered things before the actual characters had. I thought something which had happened in the beginning could come back to haunt the pair but just as one hurdle was jumped, another came along. Reading Jock was a rollercoaster of emotions I never expected for a moment. From tears to laughter, even to stomach-churning angst, exhausting me with all the feelings evoked.

The Boston Terriers series has introduced me to likable and interesting characters and whilst they are all stand-alones, it’s advisable to read all of the books if you are a sport’s fan. There’s a crossover of characters which will give you an insight into what they are all about. I loved that we got to glimpse at Owen and Eliza’s families and there were some very funny moments mixed with banter which I loved. The epilogue was a brilliant insight into their lives, making me grin while reading it.

Reading Mr. Chance's work is always a pleasure and you never know exactly what you are going to get. I was totally invested in Jock as soon as I’d read the prologue. The writing style captured my imagination and I felt every word paramount to the incredible storytelling we’re treated to. I can’t say how much I’m looking forward to the very last installment of the Boston Terriers and although it will be sad to see the last of them, I’m sure I will do a re-read of the whole series in the future. A very well-deserved 5-star rating and I urge potential new readers to one-click if you like sports romances with a little something different added.

Wow, wow, wow! To say that I loved this book would be a huge understatement. I have read and loved this entire series, and no disrespect to the other Terrier boys, but Owen has completely blown them out of the water! Even my own personal favourite, Brady! I always look forward to a new Jacob Chance book knowing full well it will be incredible and with Jock I was completely blown away. Jacob once again shows his unique talent of drawing the reader in from the very first page into his stories and the characters he writes have so much heart and soul, bringing them to life. Because of this, I always feel I’m reading a Jacob book for the first time.

I loved Owen and Eliza’s story. It was filled with friendship, laughter and romance. They were so perfect together. But it isn’t all plain sailing with twists and turns which had me turning those pages non stop. There are some absolute swoon moments, "WTF" moments, plus a major ‘’I did not see that coming" moment. It was these sublime touches which made this story ‘pop’, come alive and added so much essence which made this story so spectacular. Then there are the moments and interactions filled with hilarious one-liners, with Owen’s family (as well as his friends) that will have you rolling with laughter. In fact, both Owen and Eliza had amazing family members and friends.

The twists and turns Jacob delivered reinforced his remarkable ability to write stories that are full of intrigue and unpredictability rendering the reader absolutely speechless! I will go as far to say that this Jacob Chance’s best work to date. It is definitely my favourite! For me, it was beyond perfection and I could not recommend this book enough. I only wish I could give it more than 5 stars!!

OMG I LOVED THIS SO HARD!!!! Sports romance are my favs, and I've really liked the other books in this series, BUT this one is by far my fav!

I love how different Eliza and Owen are in this book. Own appears to be the typical jock and Eliza is anything but typical and a nerd. Them being totally different worked soooo well for them, and it really helped them click. They really were not what I expected, both of them, it was so refreshing! I loved that Owen wasn't the "typical" jock, just like the other guys, but he seemed more "normal" than the others. And Eliza, she was soooo full of surprises. Their reactions to each other were great too, neither of them really expected the other to be who they were.

One of my favorite parts of this book were that we got to see some of the other characters, especially some from Canvas. I love how he tied the stories together! The other favorite part were the surprises we constantly got thrown us! There were so many things about Owen and Eliza that I never expected. I find myself constantly gasping in delight and excitement!! Now, it doesn't take much to excite me, but I loved these surprises so much. And of course emotions, we had a really good range of emotions, and that's always important to me. We had full ranges here, especially with the surprises we got. Especially at the end. I REALLY hope we get to see more of these two!!!

I absolutely loved this book. I have read the whole Boston Terriers Series and loved them all. But, I think Owen's story is my favorite. I am trying to be as vague as possible with my review because the less you know about this story the more exciting it is to read. Owen and Eliza's story is beautifully written. The relationship moves slowly, which is a little more realistic. There are some "awe" moments, "WTF" moments, and "I did not see that coming" moments, which makes this story amazing. Ladies men like Owen do exist! He is swoon worthy. There are some good steamy scenes and as usual with this Author they are not over done. I like when a story about love can focus on more than just the physical. The emotions in this story at times made me want to cry. As a reader old enough to be Owen's mom, this is defiantly the kind of guy you would want your daughter to meet. Eliza was a strong character, which is another reason I enjoy this Authors writing. He does not write whiney, weak women that let men walk all over them, yet they fight for what they want. My kind of woman. And, we also get a glimpse into the life's of the other Boston Terrier couples, which is always nice. Hands down Owen is my favorite Boston Terrier. I highly recommend this book. I highly recommend the whole series if you have not yet read any of the Boston Terrier Series.

You will not get off the edge of your seat to see how this one ends! I held my breathe for a few parts because holy cow Jacob really out did himself with Eliza! I have to say I have a favorite cover of a different book (Canvas) but my favorite book to read is this one now! I couldn’t get enough and now I still want more of them!!

Eliza is nothing like I thought she would be from what I read in the beginning!! She grows so much from that girl who goes to a Halloween party with her cousin to a woman who takes responsibility of herself and focus on finishing school! I loved watching her grow and her ability to grab peoples attention without her being anything different than herself.

Owen I wasn’t so sure I would like.... I know craziness! With that being said though he also grew quite a bit and for that he eventually won over my heart. They both really upset me a certain points throughout the book, some being so upsetting I had to stop reading for a moment but then others I could completely understand and my anger only last a shorter amount of time.

Wow Jacob! The struggles these two go through blew me away how they overcome them and usually when I’m thrown a bunch of stuff I usually get turned off of the book but every time I got hit with something I couldn’t wait to see how each person overcomes the obstacle!! Way to write one heck of a book!!! Congrats!! Loved it!!

WOW Jock blew me away......

The Boston Terrier Series just keeps on getting better with each release and Jacob Chance absolutely nailed this one. It was both brilliantly written and at times was completely unexpected but in the best way possible.

I believe Jock to be THE BEST Book to date for Jacob, he has very quickly secured himself as a brilliant sports romance writer who is not above giving us way more than expected with each Release.

Jock is Owen Dawson’s story and I absolutely adore this one I couldn’t get enough of it. Owen has bumped Zeke off the #1 spot as my favourite Boston Terrier. He is the complete package, man he’s got it all and then some. He’s delicious, a little risqué and a whole lot of dirty fun with a heart of gold.

When Owen needs a tutor and the Dean of the school fixes him up with one of the schools best students Eliza Michel who just happens to be his niece not even he would have been prepared for the sparks that flew between these two. Their story is far from conventional and the details are nothing short of pure genius, I was hooked from the very first page till the last.

I love an epilogue and the extended one was beyond amazing.

I love this book. Fantastic leads, cleverly written with a flawless storyline.
Highly recommended read.

Jock is the fifth installment in the Boston Terriers series.

One more time we are plunge into Boston University and its football theme that we adore, with its football players that we love even more. Everyone wished to be part of this universe.

One more time, Jacob Chance offers us a flawless lovable hero in this sweet heartwarming well-written romance. Owen Dawson is considerate, charming, funny and big-hearted.

After a rather inconvenient split with a lady he shouldn’t have messed up with, he got badly attacked by her husband and spent some time in the hospital. Suspended from the team, the quarterback learns from his mistake while recovering from his injuries.

Enters Eliza, a pretty nerd assigned tutor who will teach Owen more than Economics and English. The aspiring writer will open Owen’s heart and call for his forgiveness more than once. Likewise, he will walk his way through her defenses and secrets to prove her than she doesn’t have to be strong alone.

Therefore together, Owen and Eliza will make History (pun very much intended).

As always, I loved how the author built the characters’ love-relationship, giving us a torturous and delicious slow-burn with perfect sweet dates, not without forgetting some shocking plot twists.

He was a JOCK. She’s just the nerdy girl. They say opposites attract...Owen and Eliza were perfectly matched!

Being back with the Boston Terriers is like coming home again. A series with a great group of characters and I look forward to each player’s story.

Owen is not what I expected; he was so much more! The author definitely took me by surprise more than once.

Owen just made a mess of his life and possibly his future. Now he’s living with the consequences. It’s time to get his life back.

Owen’s back at school, but he’s been assigned a tutor...Eliza. Eliza is not his typical type. She’s smart, driven and not at all athletic. The two have an easy camaraderie and enjoy time together. Owen wants more than just help with homework, now he just needs to convince Eliza.

Eliza and Owen had a connection, but Eliza’s her own worst enemy. Owen is good for her and she deserves someone who is good to her. Now it’s up to her to hold onto that.

So many sweet moments, an unforgettable first date but also alot of past hurts. A story of embracing the person you want be and finding a love that not only completes you, but makes you better.

Oh my GOSH what a story! Are the exact words I spoke out loud as I finished the last sentence. I have been hooked on the Boston Terriers Series from the beginning and even though they’re all standalone books I’ve read them all as they were released. I didn’t think the previous stories could be topped but here we are with Jock and I’m blown away with Owen and Eliza. Their story is filled with friendship, laughter, romance and even a little emotional coaster ride for a bit that will have you turning those pages non stop. There’s so much more to someone then meets the eye and when you take the time to get to know them you’ll be amazed at what you’ll find out. What can I say about this book....Absolutely Amazing. If you haven't read this series you are missing out. It takes us through the life and times of these college guys who want to find just the right amount of l8ve, happiness,  friendship and trust. But they have to take long roads to get there. In this one we meet Owen and Eliza...two people who have had some bad relationships but overcome it when they find that they are what each other needs. I want to say that you need to read this book series.  You will not be disappointed. I want to say to Jacob Chance that I'm a true fan and I can't wait for what's next. Soon please!  I happily give this book 5+ stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader's Copy.

A few things about this book....
First, I couldn't put it down!! I've read it in one sitting forgetting that there were things actually going on around me lol
Second, I freaking love this series. I think it's one of Jacob Chances best to date.
Third, if you think you loved Trevor wait till you meet Owen...he's even more swoon worthy.
If you haven't already figured it out by now... I really enjoyed this book. It's full of funny bantering back and forth between the boys, friendships that will last a lifetime and even some laughs thrown in there for good measure. Then there's the relationship between " the jock" Owen and " the tutor" Eliza is unmistakably genius.

Owen tries to do right by his girl, “but I’m not going to do that tonight, or anytime soon. Instead, I’m going to go home like a effing boy scout and think of you while I… well, you can imagine what I’ll be doing.” Owen is a really considerate man, but I think selfishly he doesn't want to let his girl out of his sight, “I’m going too. I’ll pick you up and take you wherever you want to go. I make a great chauffeur.” I loved this book, I fell in love with Owen, and I loved seeing the bond that all the boys had with each other.
