Finding a missing bride shouldn't be too much for psychic P.I. Piper Ashwell. But something about this new case has her thrown. Her visions don't line up at all, and soon she realizes she's seeing more than one case at a time. There are two missing women, and one might already be dead. The visions are piling up, and Piper can't sort through them quickly enough. When the only connection the two women had—the man they both loved—suddenly goes missing as well, Piper uncovers the most psychotic killer she's ever met. The death count is increasing, and Piper may be next.
Kelly Hashway fully admits to being one of the most accident-prone people on the planet, but that didn’t stop her from jumping out of an airplane at ten thousand feet one Halloween. Maybe it was growing up reading R.L. Stine’s Fear Street books that instilled a love of all things scary and a desire to live in a world filled with supernatural creatures, but she spends her days writing speculative fiction for young adults, middle graders, and young children. Kelly is also USA Today bestselling romance author Ashelyn Drake. When she’s not writing, Kelly works as an editor and also as Mom, which she believes is a job title that deserves to be capitalized.
Piper is back and this time has to find a runaway bride. I disliked her less in this book and hope that shows growth i her character. There’s a lot of red herrings in the mystery and a core group of suspects until the killer is finally revealed.
A terrific storyline that will have you guessing who the 'baddie' is and then wondering if or when the reign of terror will be over. The characters have gotten better since the first book and the reminiscence to Bones is even stronger in this book. When she's asked to help look into the disappearance of a new bride she agrees even though she'll missing working with her father. That is until he states that he wants to work with her as retirement is driving him and his wife crazy. There seems no reason for the bride to disappear except for an old crush that she had (and still harbours) for the most popular boy in High School. Add in tax evasion, misdirection, a missing ex-wife, a released relative, an abandoned dog, her father being kidnapped, a cemetery and murder for a plot which will how you until the end. With events being lightened by the banter between the two main characters.
This was a great second book for this series. I can tell that the author is starting to get more comfortable with the characters, and their relationships really start to fill out in this book. I was really surprised by the twists too! I got close on a few of them, but I was still surprised and at the end of the day had a really good time with the read.
I liked the addition of the dog Jezebel. I don't mind Piper & Mitchell 's banter & teasing now that they are friends but I am already sick of Piper's constant harping on Mitch being a womanizing flirt she has no interest in blah blah which smacks of the lady doth protest too much.
This was the cover I saw on a random day somewhere I can’t remember. I thought it was cute and I could tell I would like the book, even though there was a chance it would be a bit silly.
But I can confidently say this series is amazing!! At the time of me reviewing this, I am about to start the 9th book, so I definitely think it was worth picking this up.
I love how Piper’s visions would present to her, in this case as superimposed, and how she works to try and figure out what they mean.
The relationship between Piper and Mitchell is so strained but it’s lovely to see her slowly opening up and trusting him more. The dad is also a great character and I was so happy that his retirement didn’t mean he would be out of the picture.
