From two siblings caught up in the harrowing days of World War II to separated foster children in the US… From a memorable road trip across the Southeast to the reunion of a war-torn family… You’ll be swept into the Christmas spirit with the endearing stories tucked inside these pages. The storylines range from family to romance to the bond of community, with settings scattered across America and beyond.Behold the beauty of the Savior’s birth with this gathering of stories that warm the soul and bless the heart.
Saved by God's grace, Faith Potts is a teenage writer and homeschool graduate, living with her family and beloved yellow labs in the North Carolina mountains. When she’s not weaving stories, consuming large amounts of coffee, reading stacks of books, or studying American Sign Language, she can be found laughing harder than is healthy, daydreaming, and—of course—blowing dandelions.
Oh my word this book was amazing! All 4 short stories just warm my heart so much, especially the last one! It was a sequel to Dandelion Dust, and I honestly freaked out. I love the book so much!! This is a Christmas story so it really helped me get into the Christmas spirit!!
One thing that I appreciated about this book of short stories is that three out of four were about men in the military, two during World War 2 and one modern. I have a huge heart for the military, so whenever there is a book that features anyone from the military I typically love the book. However in this book, it wasn't just that aspect of the book that I loved, I just love Faith's writing style. Every book that I have read by her, I have loved!
If you ever want to read a clean, Christian book, her books are the way to go! I highly recommend it guys!!

This was such a cute novella collection! Even though a couple of them did feel very short, I did really enjoy all of them—but especially that last one. 😉 All of the novellas were so sweet and had great messages to be reminded of during the Christmas season.
*BFCG may (Read the review to see) recommend this book by this author. It does not mean I recommend all the books by this author. *I received this book for free from the Author for this honest review.
I had the honor of both beta reading and designing the cover for this little gem! Behold is a collection of short stories that range from WW2 historical to contemporary. Each was so unique, realistic, and filled with so much light and hope. Faith perfectly captures the essence of the hope and joy of Christmas in a way that tugs at the heartstrings. There's something for everyone in this precious collection! This is a must-have for your Christmas bookshelf! Go grab a copy!
3.5 stars Well written with interesting characters is how I would describe this collection of short stories. There was a recurring theme in each and every one of these stories: the military. (Though the last story had only a side character, and he was only there briefly.) I think my favorite was the second story since there was no one seriously injured, or maimed. And the ending for it was just so sweet. I didn't want it to be over.
All injuries were handled tastefully and didn't make me cringe.
If you love stories with military persons in them, you will probably enjoy this book.
A beautifully written collection of short stories with many nuggets of truth tucked in.
aaaannnndddd Faith stuns me again with her gorgeous writing (though I shouldn't be surprised xD). Seriously, guys. This was beautiful. I loved each and every one of her short stories, especially the sequel to Dandelion Dust (*squeals* I'M SO HAPPY FOR CHARITY AND RYDEEEERRRR). All of the short stories were so endearing--I love so much that Faith featured a lot of military life in them--it definitely opened my eyes and caused me to think. My favorite was probably the first one (though they're all soooo good ❤❤), Home for Christmas. Ruth is such a sweet and kind person and I'm so glad her family was reunited (especially Doug! ah! Doug exemplifies a perfect cinnamon roll character)! It caused some tear-jerking reactions for sure. ❤
One of my favorite short story collections to date! Do yourself a favor and grab all of Faith's books.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Stellae Books. A positive review was not required. These are my honest thoughts and opinions.

What, you wanted an actual review?
Okay, fine... So I have to admit that several of these stories weren't brand new to me, since I've discovered this little thing called blog archives. (World, beware!) But having legitimate copies of some of my favorite blog stories--super bonus!!!
Home for Christmas - 4.5 stars
Loved, loved, loved the brother-sister relationship between Ruth and Doug! And the little things that helped her recognize him...and the way he wanted to be strong but didn't have to be all the time...and Mary in her bare feet! <3<3
Unexpected Blessing - 3.5 stars
Another sweet sibling story. (I LOVE sibling stories!) This one left me a bit curious/not understanding in a couple of places, but the sibling interaction was the best! And the foster family was so sweet. <3 I really want to know what happens next! (I know that wasn't the point, but still...)
Christmas Homecoming - 4.5 stars
Why are WWII stories so sweet and poignant? And yet another sibling story--why do you do these so well, Faith?!? Also loved the sweet, fun, honest relationship between Jamison and Emma--and the glimpses of little Jamie! Stuffed so full of family love, overcoming trials, and Christmas sweetness. <3 (Are you tired of that word yet? Sorry, not sorry. Tell Faith to quit writing it. Or actually, don't. :D)
What Matters - 5 stars (because I can't get the option for more no matter how hard I try...)
Eeeeep!!! My babies! <3<3<3 And they're married! And adorable! (duh) And precious! (double duh) Did I love seeing Ryder and Charity again? Well, I'll let you guess... And they haven't changed a single bit except to become more darling and precious and--yes, I'm saying it--SWEET!!! Ryder's protectiveness and Charity's secret and the way they know and read but still tease and play with each other so well--THIS COUPLE IS BEYOND PRECIOUS! (There, I've found another word to overuse--happy?) Also loved seeing their families again (particularly Ryder's, but I've spent more time with them anyway, so that's to be expected). And of course more great sibling banter (and family banter in general--I cracked up at Ryder's reaction to his mom's Christmas "basket")! The whole story felt like slipping on a favorite pair of fuzzy socks. (Do I have a favorite pair of fuzzy socks? Maybe I should get one, so they can remind me of this story...)
Yes, I'm rambling. Horribly. Really good stories make me ramble, okay? (Hint--yes. Yes, I liked it. A lot. A lot more than a lot.) Going to end this review now because I can't sit here and try to put words to my incoherent squealing all day. ;) Merry Christmas! :D
Content--mentions of wounds, burns, and scars; wars and war injuries mentioned; a few kisses between married/engaged couples; a minor character's backstory involves alcoholism and divorce
Wow! I loved this collection of short stories! Amazing job, Faith!
Stats:)
Content/Violence- All of these short stories are 100% clean! Mentions of war, injuries, etc. *Warning to extra sensitive readers- In the first short story, "Home for Christmas", there are wounds described (not too descriptive, but cautious readers beware)*
Romance- This collection of stories has small amounts of sweet, very clean romance.
The faith content in this is wonderful as well:)
All of the short stories are wonderful, unique, and heartwarming. They are completely clean (which is hard to find in books these days). I completely recommend each and every one of them, but of course, my FAVORITE is "What Matters". It was amazing getting to re-visit Charity and Ryder again:) I am rooting for a sequel to Dandelion Dust...
THANK YOU Ms. Potts for writing these lovely stories. I cannot wait to read more of your work. You are quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.
And a big THANK YOU to Stellae Books for letting me read and review this story.
FULL FTC DISCLOSURE! “I received a complimentary copy of this book from Stellae Books in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own and a positive review was not required.”
4 stars & 4/10 hearts. This is a lovely little collection. The stories are sweet and humorous, with a touch of drama. ;) There was some kissing, but otherwise I can’t remember any content. My favourite story is the second one. ;) I loved the little sequel to Dandelion Dust too!
A Favourite Quote: “‘Doug, the One who loves me most is scarred. You know that? And He took those scars because of His love for me.’” A Favourite Humorous Quote: “My sister-in-law Hannah stands on the porch, waving wildly to get our attention, as we pass. ‘You’re being summoned.’ “Ryder snickers, cutting the wheel to pull into his parents’ drive. ‘You think I could miss a display like those flailing limbs?’ “‘Just checking.’”
As soon as I found out Faith Potts was releasing a Christmas anthology, I. Was. ECSTATIC. I ADORED her previous releases, Dandelion Dust and Love Needs No Words, but a Christmas release?? From one of my most favorite contemporary authors EVER?? Um, ALL THE YES. *heart-eyes*
So, on a chilly evening curled up in bed, I finally cracked this collection open. And oh, my friends, I'm so glad I did.
Home for Christmas // ★★★★★ 4.5 stars
It's November, 1944 -- and Ruth Watkins has one wish this Christmas: to see her brother, MIA, safe and returned home. Then a wounded soldier, badly burned, appears at her hospital... could he be the answer she was looking for?
THIS STORY, YOU GUYSSSS. It was SO sweet. Ruth is such a determined character, and DOUG. DOUG, MY PRECIOUS CINNAMON ROLL. <333 And Mary, too!
This novella was perfectly titled; and I think it captured the essence of the Bing Crosby song -- from the characters to the setting to the story -- just perfectly.
Unexpected Blessing // ★★★★☆ 4 stars
Ash and Kaitlyn are orphans, but happy -- well, as happy as they can be: perfectly placed with a loving, Christian foster family, but missing their corporal brother nonetheless. But when a curtain falls at church on Christmas Eve, it seems their beloved sibling might finally return home.
Unexpected Blessing was short and sweet! Within just a few pages, Faith told a beaming story of tiredness, affection, and hope -- and the kind, familial love everyone ought to strive for.
Christmas Homecoming // ★★★★☆ 4 stars
It's Christmas Eve, at the height of World War II, and Emma has three concerns in life. First, the well-being of her toddler and veteran husband. Second, her solider brother-in-law, for whom her whole family prays. Third... getting to her mother-in-law's holiday dinner in time.
Another short tale, Christmas Homecoming is a parable of trust. Emma's worry was relatable, and her abiding love for her husband and child were so sweet to uncover. And Jamison, Titus, and Molly were all so precious! Christmas Homecoming was a happy, darling little read. ^_^
What Matters // ★★★★★ 4.5 stars
Charity and her husband are going to see Charity's family this Christmas... and perhaps for the last time. But when a vehicle mishap delays their travels, a curious stranger teaches them the true meaning of home.
This was, without a doubt, the story I was most looking forward to. The sequel to Dandelion Dust, What Matters follows the lives of Charity and Ryder, newlywed. And OH MY GOODNESS Y'ALL, I /LOVED/ THIS. It was SO much fun to see Charity and Ryder again!
Practically perfect in every way, What Matters was everything I'd hoped for and more... although I certainly wouldn't mind another sequel, too! ;)
~~~~~
Behold was lovely. Heartwarming. Just wonderful. *happy-sighs* I can't wait for Faith's next book!
{NOTE: I received a free ebook copy of Behold from the author, in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own. To read my original review, visit: https://the-book-sprite.blogspot.com/....}
I loved, loved, loved this Christmas short story collection! Faith does such a good job at capturing the true meaning of Christmas in these pages filled with heartfelt stories of love and courage!
Home for Christmas: 5 stars! Behold opens with this short story about a young nurse, her scarred war hero brother, and a family reunion on Christmas Eve. This story tugged at my heartstrings probably the most out of the whole book. The love and acceptance bestowed from the whole family was so powerful. I loved how this had a "Olden time" feel to it. It was in 1944, and I just fell in love with the setting! One of my favorite songs popped into my head as I read the letters from the war hero's family members and fiancée. Letters From Home by John Michael Montgomery. If you haven't heard that county song before, go listen to it! :)
Unexpected Blessing 3 stars! This was such a cute story of a sibling reunion taking place in a church around Christmas time! This was by far the shortest story in Behold (eight pages), but that did not take away from its sweetness! It could have been me, but at first, it was hard to understand who's POV it was taken.
Christmas Homecoming 4 stars! The third story in Behold was of a couple whose life had been drastically changed by the war. This story also took place in 1944 on Christmas Eve. I love the relationships in this story! And also, the ending was super sweet!
What Matters 5 stars! Ok, so I admit, I was most excited about reading this short story because it is a short story sequel to Dandelion Dust! Ryder and Charity are so adorable together! And I LOVE katydid (their "baby" aka dog) I really loved the message through this last story the most! And the news at the end makes me so happy! I really like this story so much!
All of these stories were beautiful and unique in their own way! I thoroughly enjoyed reading Behold! I literally gobbled it up in one setting though! This collection is perfect for Christmas time, but also year round! This book is only 92 pages, but it was worth every penny spent, it was so AMAZING! I might add that with each story, it changed, either past tense, present tense, first person, and third person. Just though I might include that bit of information to those who are picky. :) Also, I loved the little Holly berries that divided the sections within each story!
Well, Faith, you have done it again! I now have three of your books proudly displayed on my bookshelf! I love your writing style! Keep up the good work! (Also, I love the way you write your characters in-laws! :D)
(I received a complimentary copy of this book from Stellae Books in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own and a positive review was not required.)
Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of reading short stories. But this one...this one, guys, was so sweet and lovable that I just kept reading and reading. :) Such heart-warming stories for the Christmas season; I wish I'd read it in December. Oh, and don't be surprised if a few tears come to your eyes.
I loved all of the close family relationships in the stories, which is sometimes hard to come across in fiction nowadays. So, I really appreciate this, Faith! :D
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Stellae Books. A positive review was not required. These are my honest thoughts and opinions.
Ohhh I don't think I can pick a favourite between these few short stories! They were so good and I'm so happy I got to read this! <3 I absolutely loved the Christmas-feel throughout, and that small sequel to Dandelion Dust made me so happy!
OH GRACIOUS! <3 Faith manages to tangle me up yet again. XD Behold is a lovely, heart-warming compilation of Christmas-y stories that deserves to be read with a side of hot cocoa. It captures the heart of the season so well. AND UM, the Dandelion Dust sequel?! I flipped!! THAT WAS JUST SO DARLING AND PRECIOUS AND I LOVED IT. And the war vets reunited with loved ones? So sweet!! <33 Grab yourself a copy, why don't ya?!
(And then come back and squeal with me over the DD sequel... *ahem*)
I've been meaning to read this for a loonngg time! While not exactly what I expected, it was an interesting and fun read. I was conflicted with my rating as I went along but there was one thing that made my star rating jump from a 3 to a 4. I'll do each short story individually. I will go ahead and say that all four of these had that wholesome Christian family vibe.
1) Home for Christmas: This was a good one and enjoyable. There were great themes of family and looking past physical appearance and loving unconditionally.
2) Unexpected Blessing: I really needed more of this story. It didn't quite end the way I'd hoped. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but I would have liked a more satisfying ending when it came to the older brother (his name escapes me at the moment)
3) Christmas Homecoming: This one was better. I really liked the brief conflict at the beginning. So far, the other stories had little to no "genuine conflict", in my opinion anyway, but this one increased the stakes ever so slightly.
4) What Matters: This one right here was my absolute favorite and was what rounded up my review. At first, I was hesitant because this is a short story sequel to Dandelion Dust, which I'd never read before. My concerns were unnecessary because I was instantly drawn into the story and attached to the characters. It had a down-home feel, a lot of heart and good messages: counting your blessings, being thankful and showing kindness to others. There was a fun surprise at the end that made me smile. There was something special about this story that the others lacked. I liked this so much that directly after finishing, I purchased Dandelion Dust.
I recommend this for that short Christmas-y read you're looking for. Bonus points if you like WWII historical fiction because the first three took place in that era.
Each of the stories is crafted well. As a good short story typically does, each gets to the point fairly quickly. There is a problem or central situation, relatable characters, a challenge, and inevitably a sweet ending. More than the sum of their pieces, however, each of these stories carries a core of faith and belief. Each is set around Christmastime, but not every character is celebrating at the beginning of their story: they face fear, doubt, loneliness, and more while struggling to maintain the joy that is expected in this season. By the end of each story, the protagonist recognizes reasons to truly be joyful. Themes of family, faith, and redemption float amidst Christmas trees and snow.
My favorite story in the collection is the last one. Apparently, it is a sort of epilogue to another book by the author, called Dandelion Dust...and now I want to read that book! The characters are instantly likable, and while I did not understand all of the implications about things that had happened in the past (presumably in the aforementioned novel), I still felt like I was able to understand and root for the characters quickly. This isn't the deepest story in the collection, but it is the one which touched me most and I enjoyed most.
I had the honor of both beta reading and designing the cover for this little gem! Behold is a collection of short stories that range from WW2 historical to contemporary. Each was so unique, realistic, and filled with so much light and hope. Faith perfectly captures the essence of the hope and joy of Christmas in a way that tugs at the heartstrings. There's something for everyone in this precious collection! This is a must-have for your Christmas bookshelf! Go grab a copy!
“Behold” is a wonderful Christmas book with four short stories in it. Each story was amazing and felt so Christmasy. Not only that, each story had the true meaning of Christmas in it. The last story is a about Charity and Ryder from “Dandelion Dust”. So if you’ve read that particular book this last story will be especially fun! If you haven’t read Dandelion Dust then you should definitely give it a try! A lovely Christmas book that I'll definitely be reading many more times!
Home for Christmas: This was a beautiful story. The sibling love, the romance, the letters - I teared up at the end, I have to say. It was just perfect. I felt like I was watching a Christmas special and I loved it.
Unexpected Blessing: This was probably my least favorite story in the collection, but I think that's because it was so short that I didn't have time to really get attached to the characters. But it was still super sweet and I enjoyed it! Another great one with sibling love; the sibling relationships in this collection were amazing.
Christmas Homecoming: I... I want to say that this was my favorite story. But like, that's a big step because they were all fabulous. But Jamison and Emma and the coat-swaddled Jamie and the heart-filling ending, ahh, I just loved it. It made me so happy.
What Matters: I haven't read Dandelion Dust (I know, I'm going to fix that soon), so I almost hesitated to read this story but by the time I had glanced at the first page, I was hooked. And oh my word, this was the cutest thing ever? I loved it so much? It was just so pure and it was just straight joy on the page and I loved reading it.
Overall, it was so freaking cute. Definitely one I'm going to come back to for several Christmases to come. 4.5 happy homecomings out of 5!
A nice collection of short stories. It would definitely get you into the Christmas mood (I read it a bit late, but still enjoyed it). My favorite was the Dandelion Dust sequel. It was so sweet! <3 I was a little surprised to have a military guy in every. single. story. I wasn't expecting that so it felt a little weird and forced.
2021>> I sill love this collection of short storys. <3
I was honored to be able to read this charming collection of stories from author, Faith L. Potts, in exchange for my honest review.
When I first heard about this on Goodreads, and saw the cover, I knew that I had to read it. I am a big Christmas girl; I mean, I practically live for this time of the year. So anytime I can get my hands on a good Christmas book, I take the opportunity.
From the first page, I knew this would become a classic favorite of mine, to read more than once. The first story: 'Home for Christmas,' my personal favorite from the book, (though they're all simply wonderful), draws you in, as if you are really there.
And not only the first one, but all of them. Faith is a very talented author, who makes you feel the pain and emotions her characters are feeling. I could feel tears trying to form on many occasions throughout this book. And I can't tell you the number of smiles that spread across my face after reading each story.
Fans of Faith's novella, 'Dandelion Dust,' will be in for a nice surprise at the end of this collection. I may have to pick up 'Dandelion Dust' one day soon, myself.
From the first sentence, to the last page, this book of short stories is sure to delight you, make you laugh, and possibly make you cry; and it is absolutely certain to bring you so much holiday joy this Christmas season!
(I hear this is coming out in paperback, which is great, because one of my first thoughts when I started reading it, is how adorable it would be in physical format!)
Thank you so much, Faith, for letting me review your lovely collection of Christmas stories! I really enjoyed them, and I highly recommend them to all!
FTC disclosure: “I received a complimentary copy of this book from Stellae Books in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own and a positive review was not required.”
Faith Potts is very quickly becoming one of my favourite authors. I love her stories and “Behold – a collection of short stories honouring the birth of the Saviour” is no exception! Each story is lovely in its own way, but if I had to choose a favourite, it would probably be the first “Home for Christmas”, or maybe “What Matters”. Actually … I can’t decide – they’re all so good! The sad part was reaching “The End”.
This sweet book contains several short stories, all with a common military theme. I enjoyed it very much, and it definitely got me into the Christmas mood!
Loved this collection of short stories with happy endings! The first one was my favorite…I love a good story from the 1940s! The author wrote the characters in a way that they are easy to connect to, and she had me chuckling a few times with the humor. One of my favorite funny quotes: “By the looks of things, the people who were paving it have since retired and are babysitting their grandkids. 😄
Genre: Historical, Christmas, some Romance, Christian fiction, My Rating: 5 stars. My Recommendation: Almost anyone, it’s not too romantic. My Favorite character/s: I am going to give my favorite character and story in Behold! So, for stories, my favorite is Christmas Homecoming, it is sad and yet, it has a lining of hope, and ends in a wonderful spot for the characters but a horrid spot for me, because I want more of the characters in Christmas Homecoming! Molly is my favorite character, I think… It was a little too short for me to pick a favorite, so, I guess I don’t really have a favorite!
My Verse for Molly is Psalm 35:9 And my soul shall be joyful in the Lord: it shall rejoice in his salvation. (King James Version.)
My Thoughts: This collection is wonderful! I was super happy to be able to beta-read this book for Faith since I loved her book Love Needs No Words, and I liked this one almost as much but not quite it was close because they are so different that I can’t compare them. I loved how these books focused on the birth of Christ and family more than just the season! I really hope you one, ENTER THE GIVEAWAY, and two, CHECK OUT THE BOOK!!!
(I received this book from the author for my honest review and I am truly happy to provide it!)
This book was interesting. It’s the first book I’ve read by this author, but it left me wanting to read more :D
All the stories in here had the common theme of military running throughout. My personal favourite was the one about the children in foster care. I’ll admit, I pretty much cried, it was that sweet! But they were all good, and I enjoyed each one of them.
The flow of the book was beautiful, and I loved the fact that the gospel message was woven throughout it so plainly, in such a subtle manner that it was the backbone of every single story in this collection. The stories themselves were the perfect length, and I enjoyed them immensely!
I’ll say this, as well: one of the stories had me laughing. Hard. Mainly because there was a merciless teaser in the family, and the bantering was hilarious to read. More so for me, who happens to have a friend who teases mercilessly :D
I definitely will be re-reading this one! I would caution that this does have emotional scenes, and talks about war and violence and such. It is all spoken of in a very Christ-like manner, but it *might* – and it’s a VERY big MIGHT — bother younger readers.
In all, I wholeheartedly give it four stars :D
I was given a complimentary copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. I was not obligated to enjoy it =)
