Rate this book
Captain Lacklan Walker, ten-year veteran of the British SAS, has delivered a devastating blow to his arch enemies, Omega, the shadowy world government that has been manipulating world affairs, guiding them toward a single, inescapable catastrophic event out of which they would rise supreme. But now they are crippled, all but finished…

But so is Lacklan. The fight has cost him dear. He has lost everything that was most precious to him. Badly hurt he withdraws to Galveston Island, in the Gulf of Mexico, to the beach house his parents took him to as a kid. There he plans to visit old friends, lick his wounds and heal in the sun and the sea: rediscover himself.

What he discovers is Emily, the daughter his old friend Harry Burgess never knew he had, Emily who has a dark and secret past she will not reveal, Emily who is terrified and fleeing – but from whom, or what…? One thing is clear to Lacklan: he will not repeat past mistakes. His heart is hardened, and when the time comes to fight, as come it must, the destroyer within him will be unleashed…

With "Unleashed," the 10th novel in the Omega series, Blake Banner returns to a more straightforward narrative starring his antihero do-gooder Lacklan Walker. Walker's been chasing the residuals of the Omega conspiracy for most of the series, and snuffing out a band of billionaires intent on wiping out most of the world's population to better perpetuate humanity on a controlled scale can be a little all-consuming. Omega had included Lacklan's father and brother Ben. So it's personal. In Unleashed, Lacklan heads to Galvaston Island in Texas for a little rest and relaxation. He's recently divorced and kicking back in a rental house on stilts for a week or so sounded too good to pass up. In his younger years, Lacklan's family would spend time on the beaches and he'd hang out with various folks while causing no end of trouble. One of those family friends was the Colonel, who recently learned he had a daughter from a short relationship. This daughter, Emily, seems nice but turns out to be a trove of secrets. She learns Lacklan's a 10-year vet from the British SAS and enlists his aid to deal with Gregor, a local casino owner with alleged ties to the Russian mob. She said the Russian was blackmailing her and that she needed Lacklan to participate in an exchange. But nothing was as it appeared. Lacklan then headed into a completely different scenario than the one advertised, and the bodies begin to pile up. Banner made this installment one of his best. He ratcheted up the intensity so I read it over the period of about 26 hours whenever I had a chance to burn through some pages. Banner includes mystery, betrayal and treasures worth killing for. And there's a little bit of Omega, but that just adds to the plot complexity and fun.

Unleashed. Blake Banner

Lacklan Walker ex SAS is a very deadly man. What separates him from others with his similarities is his conscious and his willingness to give someone a chance. Doesn't always work. An old family friend of his father and his daughter are trying to exploit a weakness they perceive he has . He doesn't. Non-stop action from start to finish. Enjoyed immensely!

Best series

It's a great series, as soon as I finished 1 book I couldn't wait to start the next. Exciting and full of action and twists that kept me guessing what was going to happen next. 1 of the best series I have ever read. Hopefully book 11 comes soon. Great series to binge read.

Another fast paced thriller from Blake Banner. This time, Walker is supposedly recuperating from all the action in the previous story, but, of course, trouble finds him anyway. I particularly enjoyed that Omega didn’t have as dominant a presence in this story. I needed that break.

Great story. You’ll enjoy it.

Unleashed

Definitely another good story from a Blake Banner, as we find our hero Lackland evolved with the Russian mafia all about him having this computer piece that could give the military of a country a huge advantage. This story takes us into a bad situation for Lackland and can he get himself out of it. Read and see.

Unleashed

This is an awesome story. The main character actually takes a vacation. He is finally beginning to recoup from all his heroics. He meets a man he has known for many years. He has a good visit with him and the daughter. Then, all heck breaks out and he is once again wrapped up in another plot against mankind. He just can't win for losing!!!

Great again as this whole series has been. I am enjoying every page. This was very fast-paced, something every minute. Not quite the Omega chases but bad people non the less. Will be reading all the rest until the very end.

Unleashed

Not the smoothest story of latest reading but easily one to keep the interest as to what's next. The hero is totally casual and always thinks he's the best, but is easily compromised into situations best avoided.

Good series

I've read them all and everything else that he has written and have yet to be disappointed. I only wish he could get them done faster so I didn't have to wait for the next book.
