This was a fun read that kept me interested till the end. I will say that it wasn't anything special. There was some light hearted humor. I mainly finished it to see who she ended up with.
It seems stupid for Kyle to continue his friendship with Jake when they didn't act like that great of friends to start with. Maybe it was more competitive or like another reviewer said: Frenemies.
I wasn't a fan of the ending. It was like choose your own adventure ending. Are you team Kyle or team Jake? Pick your ending. Did not like that.
Safety: Natalie loses two pregnancies while married to Jake.
I really liked this book a lot. It was the PERFECT fluff read for me. And very well written.
Warning: I thought that the heroine, Natalie, had feelings for both her husband and ex husband. It’s not a MENAGE. Some people might even call this cheating. So beware.
So the drama goes like this- Natalie lives with her husband, Kyle. Her ex husband, Jake lives in the loft above their garage. He is out of job and doesn’t have his own place. So he stays with them. Kyle is his best friend and he doesn’t mind Jake staying with them. Even Natalie doesn’t mind.
Wow...what a mess.
One day when Natalie accidentally says Jake’s name while having sex with Kyle, he gets upset. I understand his feelings. But such things are bound to happen if you let your wife’s ex live with you and to top of that, you party with him. That’s the the most weirdest situation.
The book swings from past to present. Jake and Natalie were one crazy couple. Lol. Whenever they were together crazy things happened. Jake was quite carefree and that caused problems in there marriage.
Nobody is perfect in this book. I thought all the characters are immature. But this was fun and over-the-top silly, and I enjoyed it.
This book left me a bit frustrated, the ending was not my fave. While this was not my cup of tea, it did have some funny moments. All in all if you like messy love triangles and a quick reads you should give it a go.
Call it curiosity for why I picked this one up. I didn't look at the blurb and only knew the fabulous narrator Erin Mallon was doing the audio on this one. It was that title. Two husbands? Laugh out loud? That caught my attention and I had to click it on and give it a listen.
My Two Husbands is a standalone and went along rather swiftly. Yes, I listen at 1.5 speed, but also because the story wasn't that long. It took me by surprise and I ended up listening to a large chunk of it in one session. I was expecting to laugh a lot and I did in places, but the book ended up not being a simple fluffy comedy.
The gist of it is Natalie is now married to her ex-husband's best friend who had first crack at her and lost her after the first date, but was around when things got bad in her marriage and was there with her to pick up the pieces. Oh, and her Ex is living in the apartment above their garage and is still her husband's best friend. Is it weird that they all get along? she wonders and doesn't think so, knowing what lots of people are imagining about this arrangement. Then she had to go and say the wrong man's name in an intimate moment with her husband right after her ex announces he's got a new job and is ready to move out. Now, its awkward. Natalie has some soul-searching to do.
The author's writing was light and wry. There was a fun and flirty feel to it that made it easy to listen. It's not a deep story, but engaging nonetheless. It had a couple features in the story structure. One was that the story was told with short flashbacks between the current timeline scenes to bring the reader up to speed on how things got where they did. But, its something of a choose your own adventure ending where the reader got to decide the outcome because there is an alternate ending after the first one. That was different and took me by surprise.
Yeah, this turned into a story that unsettled me more than a light romcom should and I think the alternate ending was one of the big culprits. I might have done better with the love triangle trope, though its never been a favorite, if the story had committed to one direction or the other. After some thought, I've concluded that like and dislike for this one will vary from listener to listener (reader) depending on your own experiences or trope preferences. Some are going to find the alternate ending a really cool device and love getting to see how the love triangle plays out with both scenarios.
Speaking of the love triangle trope. I'll be the first to admit that I run from those so take my reaction with a grain of salt. The book doesn't hide the fact that the triangle is central to this story so I went in knowing one of my least favorite tropes was at the heart of things.
But, I can't honestly say that my usual reason for hating the trope was entirely at fault. I'm not a fan, but yet, I was pulled into this story anyway. I kept shaking my head over these people and particularly Nat. This was a hot mess and they all caused it. I was curious to see how it was all going to shake out in the end.
Yes, Nat was pretty much in love with two men even after the past since Jake turned his life around and she couldn't let go of either. However, there was also ample evidence that those men were not best friends though they claimed it. Kyle should have never been close to Nat until things were good and done with Jake and Jake should have never moved into that loft of his ex and his best friend. Then, all three of them were in denial together until denial couldn't work any more and we have this part of their story.
So, there are some cool and fun aspects. It has some summery vibes with the cruise ship segment. But, the alternate ending options with the love triangle trope jarred me. Again, I think that it will be a riot for others and fun times will ensue though there are some deep heartfelt moments that come out because Nat struggles with having a baby and had miscarriages. It wasn't a fluffy one and had some good layers to it.
As to narration, Erin Mallon killed it as usual. I've enjoyed her work since the first book and many since. She does well with that wry voice of a heroine who is facing something tough. Both genders sound well as does pace, catching the tone of the writing and specific scenes. She raises the enjoyment of any book she performs.
I would recommend this one for those who are good with love triangles and who like contemporary romances with a strong comedy element.
My thanks to Caffeinated PR services for the opportunity to listen to this book in exchange for an honest review.

I basically found this book on my Kindle. I have no idea when I downloaded it. I'm guessing it was one of those nights where I couldn't sleep and found free books on the Kindle store. I'll admit, I went into this one with zero expectations. Still, I was a little surprised at how much I enjoyed it.
Looking at the cover/title of My Two Husbands, you might be expecting a m/m/f book. While I enjoy a good poly story, I am happy to say that this book isn't that. The reason I'm happy to say that? Because I feel like we don't see a ton of truly good love triangles. Often we are told there will be a triangle, but one guy is always "above" the other. Either he's the better choice, or we don't see an actual struggle within the heroine. This one, however delivers on the love triangle.
Kyle and Jake are friends. They meet Natalie. Kyle is the dependable good guy. Jake is a flirt and just a little more of a bad boy. Both are sexy. There's not a bad choice between these two.
Natalie goes on one date with Kyle, but Jake isn't willing to give up on Natalie. The book begins with Natalie and Kyle being married, as we get a glimpse into their past. Jake is now Natalie's ex-husband. Her ex-husband who is still friends with Kyle, and is living above Kyle and Natalie's garage while he puts his life back together.
At first I wasn't sure why Kyle and Jake would still be friends. They both loved Natalie. You would think this wouldn't make for much of a friendship. But when Jake self-destructs and ends up trashing his marriage due to his demons, Kyle and Natalie get close. It's easy to see that both feel pretty guilty about this. I think that guilt made it believable that Kyle and Natalie would do whatever they could to help Jake.
We have a little tension, some mixed feelings and a few confrontations. Even though this sounds serious, this book doesn't take itself all that seriously. I didn't feel the angst was over done at all. I'd even say this is towards the low-to-no angst end of the scale.
And, spoiler:
If you are TeamKyle or TeamJake, you're gonna love that you get to pick your own ending. (I, however couldn't choose. So I read both endings)

Well, I’ve got to say. Not what I was expecting (not that I really knew what to expect). Before I get into the story, I will say I listened to this on audio and the narration (all Natalie’s POV) was perfect. Erin Mallon is one of my favourite narrators, just saying. Now back to the story. A fun read with Natalie and her husband and ex husband all living together and supporting each other. How can that be you ask yourself, can it really work? Not really is the answer. You know it’s all going to go wrong, I was expecting it to explode at every turn. The story bounces from past to present, but is easy to keep up with. I don’t want to post any spoilers so I’ll just say, well written, funny and sweet. Natalie did at times annoy me (maybe I was a little jealous of her), Kyle and Jake were quite the catch after all. I will also state this is not a ménage book, just in case you wondered. A quick enjoyable audio.
I thought My Two Husbands enjoyable read with likable characters. We get vignettes of the relationship between Natalie, Jake, and his best friend, Kyle. So the title gives us a clue that Natalie has two men living in the same house, Kyle, her present husband, and Jake, her ex-husband. And the beginning it starts quite harmonious with everyone getting along in such a unique living situation.
The storyline is written with back and forth toggling of the present and past, how they all meet, how the dating begins, and the friendship dynamics between Jake and Kyle, and each is interested in the same woman. Ms. Aksel makes it flow seamlessly the past and present, but where it lost me is the end chapter where the reader is asked to vote which man Natalie should pick to live her HEA. I loved both guys equally, Jake had his faults but overcame them, and Kyle just seemed too perfect but had his insecurities. Still, I was rooting for a menage or poly situation, I wanted them all to be together.
I admitted to cheating and reading both possible scenarios because I’m a sucker for a romantic ending. Still, choosing an ending to a story is quite a unique experience. I would have chosen a third choice whereby they tried to make it work together. I found My Two Husbands an entertaining read. I received and voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Just not as good as what I have been listening to lately. The only thing to save this was the narrator who does an excellent job, as always. This is a then and now type of book between Natalie and her husband Kyle (Now) and ex-husband Jake (Then) and what brought them to the present. I found myself rolling my eyes and shaking my head thinking there was just too much insecurity and especially Natalie needed to get out fast.
(I do have to say if I had picked this one up in kindle I would have put it down and not finished but as it was playing on audio while I was crafting I listened to the end.)
I was originally drawn to My Two Husbands solely on narrator Erin Mallon then by the blurp. I mean who would be crazy enough to live with their husband and ex-husband?! Amanda Aksel is a new to me author and she does a good job of writing a romance with an unconventional love triangle between two best friends, Kyle and Jack and Natalie.
First I have to wonder why My Two Husbands is marketed as “A Laugh Out Loud Romantic Comedy”, I didn’t once find myself LOL while listening. Sure there was humor, but while I was getting into the lives of this trio I didn’t find their situation funny. I knew at least one if not all of them would get hurt once it was all over.
We get flashbacks in parts of the chapters (or episodes, I wonder if this story was originally released in parts) labeled “Then” to show us the history of the relationships between Natalie and both guys. She met Kyle first but Jack is the one she has instant-a-lust with which turned into love and marriage. After their marriage fell apart, Natalie and Kyle’s friendship blossomed into romantic love.
With the three living together there was the ever-presence of Jack and in order for the trio to move on something had to change. My Two Husbands follows the ins and outs of friendship and marriage.
Erin Mallon delivers outstanding performance for all three characters. She does an amazing job switching from female to male characters. In my opinion, it is hard to find a narrator who can easily do the opposite sex without sounding forced and because Erin can do this perfectly is a favorite of mine and I look for titles narrated by her and it’s helped me find some new to my authors like Amanda Aksel.
My Two Husbands ends with two different HEAs. The listener is given the opportunity to skip the next to last chapter if you are not “team Jack” to hear Kyle and Natalie’s HEA. I fell into “team Kyle” but I listened to both of the endings. For me, Natalie and Kyle’s HEA made the most sense and felt right for the two characters. I invite you to listen to My Two Husbands and find out what “team” you are.
I gave this book 3* because of Jake. When I started this book I was just curious. I liked the fact that the story was a roller coaster and that you saw how they met, how they felt in love etc. I hated the fact that at some point you had to choose between the endings. It was stupid. Also, I thought it was stupid to paint Jake as the villain and Kyle as the good guy that’s to perfect to be true. What Kyle did was stupid and ugly. Even though he was the one who had the first date with Nat, Jack was her first husband. He was the one that fought for her since the beginning. Kyle was just there when it was like easy. Even though Kyle was the good guy, the thoughtful one, the loving one and the one that seemed to be always there he was a stupid prick. To follow your bfs wife, keep her company when your best friend it’s out of town ( and I am not talking like once a month ) like almost every day, to be in a relationship with your best friends wife since 3 months before the divorce and ask her to marry you in the same day she got the divorce shows that you were not a true friend. Jake was stupid as well, he had his issues and I cannot just not blame him for his stupid mistakes but he made amends, he tried, he was loyal till the end. Natalie was another kind of stupid. She was like a 12 yo that didn’t know what to do, she was reckless, she made two guys suffer and acted like a fool the whole time. This book was not for me,like I already said, I finished reading this book just because of Jake. 😓 I don’t recommend this book and I a, sad to say that. 🙈

👍4.5 🌟stars Loved the plot and the way by telling the story alternating each chapter between the present and the past, the budding courtship and then strained marriages of heroine Natalie and her two husband's are slowly revealed. Author Amanda Axsel also, surprisingly, gives the reader a choice of two endings -- a fun concept. But, at that point, the switching between present and past got a bit confusing. I would have liked it better, I think, if the story after the choice had stayed totally in the present.
The heroes have such different personalities that it's totally believable that, at different points and in certain circumstances, Natalie is romantically drawn to each one.
I did not really find the situational humor LOL funny, but this heroine sure knows how to get herself caught in one dilemma after another!:-) And her life does include some hard-hitting disappointment and 💔heartbreak.
Potential spoiler alert! What with the excitement of kitchen🔥 conflagration, public brawling between her BFF husbands, giving her homebuying clients an eyeful, and mis-speaking at the height of passion (to name a few predicaments of many), there's not a dull chapter to her conflicted life!😲
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
This is a good easy read but I just think this is a weird and difficult relationship. Natalie...Natalie is in a predicament. She has feelings for both so I was expecting a threesome to be the result. Especially as the two men seem to still enjoy her separately and they are still best friends. I really don’t know who can do that. Remain friends......
My biggest issue with this is the back and forth in time. Just as a scene is getting good....it stops and we go back in time to a scene from her past. I am not a fan of this unless it smooth transition and done few are far between. I understand why the author does this but it’s not a favorite way of mine. On the other hand she did keep me interested so I guess she did her job well.
The Epilogue Is different. I see what the author is doing. Making sure everyone gets their happily ever after. I struggle to make a dinner decision let along decide who get Natalie. I favor each man for different reasons.
This is my first book by this author. I story was compelling enough and kept my interest. The characters were wonderful although it was a weird situation. I listened to this on audio and Erin Mallon narrates the quirky story. She does a wonderful job and I enjoy listening to her.
This is an interesting story about the relationship of a woman with her husband and her ex-husband, who is living with them temporarily. It's interesting to see how their relationship have evolved with time, as the story is told in a "now" and "then" narrative. The only thing I'm not sure I like that much is the ending. The autor gives us two posible endings, in which we can choose which guy we want her to end up with. I feel that, given that the autor is offering two choices, she could have chosen a third one that is hinted at during the story, that is having the three of them being together in a polyamorous relationship. It'd make a lot of sense, having two best friends being in love with the same woman, and her loving them both back.
Other than that, it's a nice story, but defining it as "laughing out loud" is not correct. It has funny moments, but I wouldn't say it's a comedy at all.
And about the narration, there is little to say other than Erin Mallon is an amazing narrator. Both her female and male voices are really good, and she brings the story to life with flying colours.
3.5 stars for the story and 5 stars for the narration
My Two Husbands was an interesting take on a love triangle story. Its the story of Natalie, her husband Kyle and his best friend Jake who just happens to be Natalie's ex-husband all living together. It was given to us in both the past and present day so we get an understanding and are brought up to speed on how the characters got to where they are. The story was unusual with likable relatable characters and you wont be sure who to root for in this tale and that's exactly what you have to do at the end.....choose who you want Natalie to end up with. I really disliked this alternate ending choice and it really spoiled the book for me. I listened to the audible version of this novel. It was narrated by Erin Mallon who delivered an exceptional performance. Her narration of all three characters was flawless and she was easily able to switch back and forth between the male and female characters. I absolutely loved listening to her narrate this story. While I enjoyed this story the ending was a disappointment for me however I would still recommend this tale to all lovers of Romantic comedies.
My two husbands is a not only a comedy, but a romance that left me wondering which team I really wanted! Natalie met Jake while on her first date with Kyle. These two best friends are total opposites, and Natalie found herself drawn to Jake. After falling for him, marrying and divorce, she found herself in love with Kyle. Now married with Jake living in her house, this unconventional story lets us take a walk through their lives, with flashbacks to what has happened to the uncertainty of where they will end up! It's funny, frustrating, sad, and loving all in one book. The problem is, when it comes down to choosing just one, I really had a problem! I loved both Kyle and Jake! Amanda Aksel has a real talent for romcom and I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next.
There is nothing I can say about Erin Mallon that has not already been said. She is a talent beyond compare, I have listened to her in all romance sub genres, but I think comedy is my favorite. She has a timing that is perfect and leaves me smiling long after the joke is over. Her voices are always fitting to the character, and I just find her narrations like coming home. This was a perfect book for her.
Whoa!! I thought what in the world? All three of them are on board with the madness, OMG!! Natalie meets Kyle and Jake his best friend sabotages the date, but Natalie feels relieved once she realizes that Kyle is a relationship/family man type guy and Natalie isn't interested. Jake and Natalie keep running into one another and their chemistry is there. Well Natalie marries Jake and doesn't work out and Kyle is there to let her cry on his shoulder. Kyle marries Natalie and Jake moves in due to a series of life circumstances, but everyone looks the other way. I was already rooting for one particular guy and the author gives you two endings depending upon which guy you want Natalie to end up with. I don't know how Natalie let herself get into the situation. She didn't come off weak or cowardly, but not doing the right thing from the beginning was cowardly as two great guys were hurt in the process and one is still going to be hurt. Definitely different with premise of two husbands and reader choosing their ending, which was very unique and cool.
One woman living with her husband and ex-husband. It couldn’t get complicated…right?
Natalie was in the middle of a d#ck-measuring contest right from the start.
I was intrigued by the premise of the story, which was written in a series of episodes of past and present times—from how the three met to their “three’s company” living arrangement. The whole thing’s in a random order, so it was kinda hard to tell what the current situation was—whether it was a time she was with Jake or Kyle.
My favorite part was when Natalie screamed out the ex’s name during sex with her husband. Oooh, not good.
There were some enjoyable anecdotes and this was, overall, a quick and easy read; however, the constant back-and-forth scenes that randomly pick up right where one left off was hard to keep track and a little annoying. Most of the time she’s constantly bouncing between the two men. It’s really not as funny as I would’ve thought.
Wow!! What a fun twist with the ending!! I much preferred one happily ever after and was not disappointed at all. Jake and Kyle were both such fabulous guys... they had qualities that drew you undeniably towards them. But Kyle had it more together then Jake. I'm a hopeless romantic and yet I rooted for each guy for completely different reasons. I was reading this and thinking of just how realistic this whole plot truly was. There were joyful times as well as the sorrowful ones. Natalie really did go through a lot and I absolutely felt for her. This is the first book that I've read by this author. I found her wirting style to be witty and fresh and she didn't shy away from those dramatic scenes, rather she executed them perfectly.
This is an interesting take on a love triangle. Kyle and Jake are best friends. Natalie is married to Kyle and Jake is her ex husband. Oh did I mention they all live together? This book has some funny parts were you will laugh out loud. It is told in such a way that the reader gets to see grow each relationship grew and imploded. As you read will you be team Jake or team Kyle? The author gives you the option in the end to choose Natalie's ending. Does she choose Jake or Kyle? Because of all that happened in would have liked a scenario where she chooses neither. Regardless of who you choose, you'll enjoy the book. I was given this book for an honest voluntary review
I really loved this story. I liked it how it went back and forth between the past and the present. I kept you wanting to know what was next. You get to chose the ending. I was torn on the ending I wanted to chose but in the end I chose Kyle because he was the one who liked her first and wanted to start a relationship with her but she didn't think that was what she wanted. I didn't chose Jake because even though he meant well in some aspects when you take a marriages financial and put it in jeopardy there is really no coming back from that. Plus he had trouble with alcohol so I thought Kyle would be the better person. I was hoping she could keep both. : )
I found this book discounted on Amazon via BookBub; this is my honest review. -The only thing I found good in this book is the back and forth with the present and the past. -Editing needs another pass, but nothing too distracting but still: they're vs. their, etc. -It's the story of Jake, Natalie, and Kyle. It's a love triangle with Natalie cheating on both her husbands and not just once. It would have been better written as a menage. Instead, you get to choose who wins. -I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, especially because there's not really a good ending either way. -It's not LOL romantic comedy; it's pretty serious. I thought it was really sad and depressing all around.
Totally would have given this book, a 4 or even 5 stars if not for the ending. Giving two different endings felt like such a cop out to me. I would have totally preferred just one ending and have that stick. Tbh, Kyle also felt like the most obvious choice especially with everything she had gone through with Jake. Plus what is up with calling them both her two husbands. Like one is your ex for crying out loud! I mean, we don't go around calling our ex boyfriend, our boyfriend. That part just didn't make any sense to me and it got annoying and repetitive very quickly. But all in all, it was a fun and quick read. Will definitely keep an eye for more books by this author.
This was my first Amanda Aksel's book. This is a great Romantic Comedy. The story goes back and forth from past to present. Natalie, Kyle, and Jake are great characters. I honestly can't tell which team I prefer between Natalie/Kyle or Natalie/Jake. The storyline is original and intriguing, filled with drama, and twists and turns. The story has it all! It's hilarious, and sexy, but also heartbreaking. Erin Mallon did an amazing job with the narration. All characters were very easy to distinguish. Her male voice is amazing.
This was kind of disappointing, it was a little bit entertaining and fast paced with no major drama or angst. But I didn't find it really funny or Lol like it says. It's also a little bit predictable, and those two alternative endings weren't really my cup of tea, didn't make sense for me.
The narration was great, Erin Mallon as always did a great job.
My Two Husband is the first book I have read by Amanda. I enjoyed it. I liked how you could choose the ending but I would have LOVED it if Natalie's dream would have been her HEA. There were some funny moments but I don't know if I would call this a RomCom. But that's my opinion. I definitely find a new author and I can't wait to read more of her books.
this was an interesting storyline. My favorite part was the fact the author lets us chose the ending by picking which guy we want her to be with and then we get to see how the author ends their story. I believe this is the first time I have really gotten to see that kind of ending, and I loved that!
I started this book hoping it would be funnier than it actually turned out to be. I didn't like the whole idea of cheating on your husband even if it was only kissing. And the alternate endings were a little strange I would have preferred the author to choose one way or the other instead of leaving it up to me. Erin Mallon's narration was the saving grace for this book.
A quick read that's far from the ordinary romance. Yes, it's a rom-com and fun, but it also has a serious, complicated side. Two husbands, different and wonderful, each in his own way. . . what's the right choice? Not easy, that's for sure! And that's what makes this tale so enjoyable. I loved it and couldn't put it down. . . A refreshingly different story.
Wow! That’s all I can say, this book kept me up all night because I just wanted to know what happened next. Kyle stole my heart even though I found myself wishing Jake was the one for Natalie. This book had me laughing and tearing up, full of surprises you don’t expect. I loved it!
Well this was definitely a unique story!! What a hot mess she got herself into. This was a fun filled whirlwind story with great characters. Bonus points for the added surprise! The narration was absolutely perfect!!
