Ivy Morgan #13

Wicked Delight

Rate this book
Ivy Morgan and Jack Harker don’t have many complaints.
Things are good, life is quiet, and the only big thing on their to-do lists is picking a date for their wedding, which is exactly what they’re doing when a local celebutante approaches with an offer for Jack to be on a dating show.
He turns her down flat and goes on his way, but the next morning, she’s found dead and the list of suspects is endless thanks to the production landing smackdab in the middle of Shadow Lake.
Ivy doesn’t like having Hollywood on her doorstep. Jack is even worse, especially when he realizes the producers want Ivy to step in and take the dead heiress’s spot in the limelight. The idea of cameras following Ivy when magical things keep happening around her is enough to paralyze the couple … and then force them to run to avoid the harsh glare of the viewing public.
Jack and Ivy have a lot on their plates. They have to solve a murder, figure out what the witch in the woods is trying to tell them when it comes to the nature of the human soul, and pick a wedding date.
It’s all in a day’s work for Shadow Lake’s favorite couple. If they live to survive the dark force descending on their town, that is. They’ll have to work together to overcome imminent evil … but they’re used to that, of course.

Entertaining Paranormal cozy mystery series

This is an exceptionally entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series. A great cast of characters and an entertaining storyline. Ivy Morgan is a young woman who owns a nursery in her small town in Michigan. As she grew up she was kind of an oddball and always a bit of a loner and her best friend was her brother Max. Max owns a lumberyard in the same town and their parents live across town from them. Ivy owns a small cottage next-door to her nursery and her fiancé Jack is a police detective in the local police department. Ivy also happens to have a certain skill set and certain abilities. She always had a little bit of some odd abilities but at your meeting Jack and opening her heart to him her abilities/magic had began to grow exponentially. As she Requires new abilities and powers continually she must learn how to use them deal with them and still keep them hidden from the outside public. Her aunt considers herself a witch and Ivy does not like the term witch but she’s starting to realize that she is actually a witch. it kind of runs in the female side of her family line. Read on and see where the adventure this week takes Ivy jack her brother Max and the rest of the inhabitants of their small town. Always entertaining always full of mystery and mayhem and a spectacular ending. Stay happy stay healthy

Ivy and Jack are finally setting the date for their wedding, however, that turns into a huge thing when a reality TV show is going to be filmed in their town, and someone is murdered. Ivy must help them figure it out before it is too late.

This was another good on in this series. I enjoyed the hero and heroine together, and the story was good and funny!

I like this book! Ivy had some temper tantrum moments when she was told that she WOULD be on the TV show, but she is notorious for her fits.
She is using her magic more often now and I’m sure the next book will show the same powers (touch knell). I think it is so cool that she can touch someone or something and see flashes of their life and happenings. And a “shade” was involved again, so that was neat.
Ava and Maisie had a role in this story and they were their usual sassy selves. I kinda wish Ava and/or Maisie would be revealed to be witches and then become nicer so the reader would have a bit more compassion for these characters. I can’t stand them! But maybe that is why they pick on Ivy so much because they themselves are witches and are scared of their powers, so in turn they try to put the focus on Ivy.
Ok, anyway…
Onto the next book. Book 14, Wicked Respite. I think this is the one where Jack and Ivy take a few days away to go camping.

A surprise-filled winner!

I liked this one! The reality dating show makes for a different premise, and there are several surprising interactions (Jack is even responsible for a couple!) and occurrences along the way. The mystery is composed well (although the motive seems to overlook someone) and gives the reader opportunities to feel a broad range of emotions from sadness to disbelief, and the resolution is partially unsurprising but mainly mind-boggling. Ivy is definitely evolving with her skills, which has this reader curious to see what's next!

Wicked Reality..

A film crew are in town to shoot a dating reality TV show and Jack and Ivy's picnic lunch date is interrupted when the star, Éclair Sheridan, gets her agent Carson Prickwillow to demand that Jack become a contestant.

Jack has no interest and makes it clear but Prickwillow isn't accepting his answer, he's shocked that Jack has no idea who Éclair is and makes some dangerously rude comments to and about Ivy when she backs Jack up. He just can't fathom why anyone would want a pink haired, snarky, mess like Ivy over his "famous" and beautiful client.

The following morning Brian and Jack, with Ivy tagging along, are called to the crew's hotel because Éclair is missing. Initially the duo are expecting her to be having a meltdown and manicure but it's not the case and soon they're conducting a thorough search.

Éclair's body, and a strange shadow, is found behind a dumpster, she's been beaten brutally and left to die. Motive is elusive.. it could have been one of the production crew, fed up with her objectional behaviour, it could be one of the "dates" there's a whole cluster of rich men lined up to take her out.. for the most part they're just attention seeking media hounds only interested in raising their own profiles.. although more than one has his eye on Ivy. It could be family, Éclair's are definitely more interested in themselves than her, even now she's gone.

Hollywood style the show must go on and now the producers insisting that Ivy be the star. They offer to allow Jack to enter too but don't appear to understand that they are not interested.

With the investigation going nowhere they take an unconventional approach to solving it and Susan Bishop comes back to help Ivy find the truth.

Jack and Ivy are happy and trying to figure out a date for their wedding. When some random dude inturrupts their picinic and ask jack if he wants to be on a dating show.. Of course hes like um no dude. can't you see im here with my lady, and we are getting married.. The guys like so what? Just dump her, the star of the show saw you and Really wants you to be on the show.. Jack turns the guy down again and finally he goes away...
Now the next day the star of the show goes missing so Jack and Ivy decide to be a part of the search party to find her, and they do.. her body at least..
So now the show wants Ivy to take the place of this dead lady. Who was super rich, and entitled.. from the kind of family that no one is ever told no..
Jack and Brian are trying to solve her murder. They find out that her family is pretty messed up and that she was such an unpleasant person that bascially every one she met had motive to kill her..
This one was really good.. There were times I thought I knew who done it.. but I was wrong.. it had lots of twists, and false leads. and in the end while i was partly right, I did not know the full extent.
I love this series, and so far everything I have read so far by this author.

There was a bit of role reversal in Wicked Delight and I'm not sure how I feel about it honestly. Now normally Ivy is happy to insert herself into an investigation and Jack is laying down the law for her to not get involved which did happen at one point in the story with Jack, but then when Ivy capitulated because she really didn't want anything to do with an investigation revolving around a dating reality tv show which could expose her magic Jack ends up manipulating Ivy into doing exactly the opposite to what she wanted to do that really felt off to me, especially when Ivy gives in and calls herself a baby for not wanting to help jack in the first place, I mean seriously the Ivy Morgan we have all grown to love is a strong woman who is always true to herself but I actually found that missing in this story and I have to say I was disappointed in Jack.

Overall the storyline was great the mystery brilliant as always it was just the 2 main characters who fell a little flat for me.

Another amazing book!!

In this book Ivy and Jack are having a picnic when they are approached by a rep for an upcoming dating show.
Jack refuses to take part as he is happily engaged and madly in love with Ivy.
The next morning the dead body of the woman who was a scheduled to date the men is found.
Things take a turn for the worse when Ivy is approached to be the leading lady of the show.
Ivy and Jack are worried. How will Ivy hide her abilities during the investigation as all eyes are on her? will they find the culprit and why was the woman killed?
There was a lot of mush in the book as usual but it's what you expect in this series.
The ending felt a little anticlimactic.
Enjoyed the book as usual.

Hollywood comes to Shadow Lake

A reality show is to start filming in Shadow Lake when the female star is found dead. The producer decides Ivy would make a good replacement despite Ivy' s not being interested he proceeds with his plans. Meanwhile Jack and Brian are on the case trying to work out who killed the victim but it's hard going. The victim was not a nice person and they can't even find anyone who's sorry she's dead, including her parent's. This is going to be a hard one no notice and no suspects it looks like Jack will need Ivy's help to find the killer.

Another Hit!

I have loved this series from the start and this latest addition was no exception! Lily Harper Hart always delivers with a cozy mystery full of fun and quirky characters, plots that will keep you guessing up to the end, and enough romance to satisfy all those who love a happy ending! I always enjoy how this author carries larger plots throughout her series while keeping each book to a small mystery that wraps up in the end. If you enjoy cozy mysteries with a touch of magic or the paranormal, I highly recommend this author!

Always fun with twists and turns.

The Ivy Morgan Series is one of my favorites. They are always new ways to get caught up in a mystery and this was no exception. As Ivy’s powers evolve, we see bigger challenges for he and Jack and the rest of the family. Some people should never have children and this stories is a good example. The lust for more money corrupts the soul if you are not careful.

This series is the best!

This series is exactly what I look for in a cozy mystery. I like my books to have some meat to them but still be PG. I love sarcasm and humor, which there is plenty of and I really love smart, intelligent characters, of which all are. Another great book in a fantastic series!

Loved it!

Another great story featuring Ivy and Jack. A ridiculous t.v. show concept comes to town and the star of the show winds up dead. Ivy and Jack have to try and solve the mystery and get the producer off Ivy's back before another body drops dead! Join the snarky fun as Ivy thwarts the producer's goals and confronts a killer.

Fun Couple

Ivy and Jack are in luuurve. True love, deep everlasting love. They also solve homicides. Jack is a homicide detective and Ivy is a witch. A witch with a real talent for solving mysteries. This mystery in this book was not too complex or involved, but the circumstances around the mystery made for a fun read.

“There are a number of reasons we fit so well together.”

Hollywood comes to Ivy and Jack. When a reality dating show comes to town, trouble follows as usual. The heiress and star is murdered, but the list of suspects is really long. More magic than you can shake a stick at. Amazing read! Enjoy!!!

Hollywood, dating show and murder all in one story. Ivy and Jack are picking their wedding date.
They are having a nice picnic when someone interrupts to pressure Jack into being on a dating show.
He says no then murder happens. The producer insists Ivy be the new star and won't take no for an answer. Things get complicated but it is figured out and solved in the end.

I simply love Ivy and Jack, and this story was another lovable mystery, this time with some darkness to fight against. The tv people were funny and the romance is still going strong with the witch part more evolved at every book.

Great book

I could not put down this book as usual the mystery and the characters were perfect, besides you miss Hart there are a few women mystery writers that should have their books made into a television series instead of all the reality shows.

Another great add to the series. This one had me cracking up at all the other towns people wanting to be on this show. With so many new people in town and others trying to be something they are not both Ivy and Jack need to up their game in finding a killer. Can't wait for the next.

Full of Surprises

This book was quite different from the others in the series. Even though there was a murder, there is also a plethora of light-hearted moments, too. Ivy even makes two new delightful friends. The solution came as a complete surprise. Well done!

A Reality show meets Evil

A dating reality show comes to town, but the "star" is murdered before it starts. Ivy helps the investigation in unexpected ways. Of course, the main characters are still fun to read about.
