They say nothing exciting ever happens on a Tuesday, but that’s far from the truth in my life.
It’s a Tuesday when I almost hire a male escort to attend my brother’s wedding with me.
It’s a Tuesday when I get brutally dumped by my boyfriend.
Annnnd it’s a Tuesday when I catch my dog impregnating the neighbor’s mutt.
Needless to say, it’s also a Tuesday when I meet the silver-eyed Chase Newman—who is none too pleased with how I come crashing into his life based on the sexy scowls he sends my way.
But that doesn’t stop me from getting more than puppies in our sudden involvement.
Because behind those angry eyes is lust, and if I’m going to get a date before desperation has me calling a 1-800 number, I need to convince him to help me.
And if sex is the language he speaks, I am more than happy to become fluent.

The book is 260 pages and the hero & the heroine don't meet until page 56.
When they meet, he is hostile and acts like an as*hole towards her just because she looks very much like his ex, who cheated on him and left with the guy. Also, the heroine's dog impregnates his dog and that pisses him off even more.
They have a few conversations about dogs and puppies and he continues to act the same; cold, distant and hostile. He even hints that he may not let his dog to give birth to her puppies. Another day, he changes his mind and she gets all excited about talking about puppies and he says she gets excited too easily and gets closer to her, then touches her, making her feel excited. As he is hot, no matter how much of a big as*hole he is, she gets all gooey in his embrace. Then, he stops and says she is easily excited in every way. Humiliated, she goes away. Then, one day, he accepts the fact that he is attracted to her, she asks him why he was acting like he hated her and he tells her she looked like his ex. She is not even surprised, doesn't ask any more questions - case closed. And when he says he wants to have sex with her, she is all in - you know, because he is hot. And they do it unprotected - of course, she cannot think about protection again because he is hot!
I was bored out of my mind, feeling nothing other than frustration so I decided to stop this ridiculous reading experience at 60%.
Safety info for people who are interested:
Up until the part I dropped it, she goes on 3 unsuccessful dates but nothing happens. She finds them on the internet and all turn out to be disappointments. She desperately needs a man and even thinks of hiring an escort because - well, wait for it - because she is going to her brother's wedding and she doesn't want to go stag! Ans she goes on all these stupid dates just because she needs a date to that wedding. Can you get how stupid she is??!!
And why would you let a guy (who has been nothing but an as*hole to you so far) touch you or have sex with you? The only good thing he did until then was to help her with the broken down car and taking her home once or twice in his car. Oh, did I mention they are neighbors?
Sorry, I forgot that I was talking about safety. Well, he did sleep with lots of women casually after being cheated on by his ex but for the past 3-4 months, he was celibate. He even rejected the heroine's friend's advances. After they meet, she goes on a few dates but there is not even a kiss; he doesn't do anything with any woman after meeting her.
At least this was like this up until page 150.
To cut it short, not my type of heroine, not my type of hero but still, with some decent writing that would make me feel something, I could have finished the book but the writing didn't make me feel anything at all. I even couldn't read the whole first sex scene; even that scene was boring - go figure!
Will wait for more truthful reviews 'cause from prologue, dude seems to be stuck on his ex (a childhood BFF, turned lover, turned GF) who left him and looks similar to heroine! That's a no-no for me. He also seems to be a manho so if there is cheating, I'm out.... Can anyone who read it give me the TRUTH?
UPDATE: Thanks to my friend Dilek's awesome review (https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...), I will be skipping this one... Me no like douchfart Heroes and stupid moron heroines! Lol.
Sometimes things come out of Chase's mouth that are sort of awkward, "he rubs a palm down his face. “Do you have time for a jump?” My eyes widened..." Chase isn't really an asker, he's more of Imma tell you what wrre doing kind of guy, “I’m taking you to that wedding,” he informs me after a few minutes of calming silence." Yeah... I'm thinking Chase doesn't handle surprises well, "the next few minutes are spent in silence. Me with expecting eyes, him…well he’s not moving. Dear God, I broke him. “Chase?” My lips waver as I poke his still chest. Is he breathing? He doesn’t look like he’s breathing." I liked this book, I adored Chase.
*Read more of my reviews at Whoo Gives A Hoot* Sadly I have to admit that I didn't really like this story all that much. Oh who the heck am I trying to fool?! I FREAKING LOVED IT! This has got to be hands down my favorite Barbara C. Doyle read to date! There was so much to love about this story, but I think our sexy hero Chase is the main reason why! I mean have you seen that COVER...this is a total COVER WH*RES dream! I'm sure you all agree that it was his eyes that drew you right in.
Something About Tuesdays was a beautifully written tale with realistic characters that you wouldn't be able to get out of your head! Seriously these two will captivate every inch of your heart and have you full on belly laughing. This was legit a heartwarming story filled with humor and love! Sam and Chase were absolutely incredible, but I think the puppies might have stolen my heart just a tad bit more because who doesn't love some puppies?! They are just so hard to resist and that is why I believe this is a MUST READ! So you know what to do...GO ONE-CLICK RIGHT NOW!
I've read a few of this author's books and enjoyed them, so I was looking forward to reading this book! I then received an ARC and I was able to read it straightaway because I had just finished my current read! I wasn't really sure what to expect from this book because the synopsis doesn't really give too much away, so I did go into this book a bit blind! After reading this book though, I have to say that I did enjoy it and it only took me a few sittings to read! I enjoyed the direction that the author took the plot in and it was different to what I was expecting! It also took a bit of this book for the main characters to actually meet, which surprised me a little! They did meet under some very funny circumstances, but this brought them together! The plot also had plenty of romance in it and a few seriously hot scenes! It didn't have any action and suspense though, but I was expecting this! I also love dogs, so I loved that dogs played quite a big role in this book! The characters were also amazing and made this book even better! Samantha 'Sam' was the main female character, and in this book she worked hard and was also doing a college course! I liked Sam a lot in this book! She was such a normal person and she spoke her mind and wasn't scared to defend herself, especially when her love interest was being an ass lol! She was also down on her luck in the love department in this book, but it all worked out in the end for her lol! Chase was the main male character and love interest of Sam! Chase was a bit of an ass at the beginning of this book, especially to Sam! I mean, he had his reasons in a way, but he could have been a bit nicer to her lol! Chase did become a lot more likeable as this book progressed and I loved him a lot by the end! Chase was also pretty hot too and it was easy to see that he had romantic feelings for Sam! I loved that this book was written from both Sam and Chase's point of views! I wasn't sure if it was going to be after I read the synopsis because it makes it sound like this book is going to be written from the female character's point of view, but I'm really happy that it was written from both characters point of views! It helped me connect and understand Sam and Chase more and it allowed for more things to happen in the plot, especially as Sam and Chase took a while to meet and start any sort of relationship! I can also completely understand why this book is a standalone! I wish that it wasn't because I would have loved to have read more on Sam and Chase, but the ending of this book was left at the perfect place! I now can't wait to read the books from this author that I haven't read yet and see what she's going to release next! I also love the cover for this book a lot! It matches the feel of the book and would definitely draw me to it and make me want to check it out! The cover image/model is also the perfect Chase! Big thank you to Barbara for an ARC of Something About Tuesdays!
Samantha and Chase are neighbors though they work differing shifts which is why for the longest time; they had little to no interaction with each other until Sam's dog broke the fence and was having quality time with Chase's dog. Not how Sam thought she would be spending her Tuesday, breaking up Apollo's fun time with Chase's dog, Bailey doesn't make her day any brighter considering Apollo's sex life is more active than hers. Why does everything happen on Tuesdays?
After being dumped by his ex and former best friend, Emily, Chase moves to the next town over for a fresh start. Unbeknownst to him is that his neighbor is an Emily look-alike with a dog. Part of his fresh start is working at Black Oak bar while fixing cars in his own garage in his spare time until he can get a loan from the bank to start his own mechanic business. Emily's brother is doing everything possible to prevent Chase from achieving his dream business.
Sam has a few dilemmas of her own. The largest being that he casual boyfriend broke up with her only six weeks before her brother's wedding. If she doesn't have a plus one, she will be one of the few people there without a date and the loser of the family. Her pride is too big to allow that to happen. She goes on numerous dates trying to find someone she can take with her. Oh and on potentially hazardous one at Black Oak bar where her neighbor works and saved her. Twice. Yet, he's still angry at her every time they cross paths. She can't figure out why. Yes, she didn't fix the fence as he pointed out to her causing puppies.
Spotlight quote: So much for a white knight. He's more like the villain who steals the knight's shiny armor and kidnaps the damsel to keep for himself. Weirdly, I like the thought. But Sam isn't the only one have dreams about the neighbor. Chase can't help but wonder if those fantasies are about Sam or lingering feelings over Emily. That doesn't stop Chase from getting jealous when Sam brings her dates to the bar or when he sees a young guy at her house. The more he fights with Sam the less like Emily she is and the more he wants her. He makes excuses to see her and help her.
But Chase is keeping secrets from Sam that might jeopardize their new relationship.
Will Chase tell Samantha his hidden past?
Can Sam forgive him? Is Chase still in love with Emily?
This is the first book I have read from Barbara C. Doyle. I have to say I loved it! Ever have that one day of the week, month or year where something always happens? For Samantha its Tuesdays. The poor girl just can't catch a break on a Tuesday. First her boyfriend dumps her for something stupid leaving her in the lurch for her brothers wedding date. Then she has the brilliant idea to try online dating to fill the spot only hilarious instances ensue. Finally her hotter than hot neighbor shows up on her door pissed as all hell because her dog knocked up his! And ALL on a Tuesday. She should really stay indoors on that day of the week.
Chase Newton is still relatively new to the small town he's trying to put down roots in. He is known for not being the most approachable person yet that doesn't stop the women from hitting on him left and right. He fully earns the nickname Sam gives him of Tall, Dark and Broody. He notices Sam one night and thinks she's a ghost from his past in the form of his long term ex-girlfriend and best friend. It isn't until he finds out she is his next door neighbor and her dog got his pregnant that he starts to realize she's not like his ex at all but just might be the best thing that ever happened to him.
This book has it all. It makes you laugh, it has hot scenes, it reminds you of the trials of dating and learning to love and trust again. Its a quick read that you can't help but love. You'll definitely be left wanting to find out more about this little town and the people in it.
The blurb of the book is really appealing to readers and caught my attention. I am so happy to have had the opportunity to read this book by Barbara C. Doyle.
I really enjoyed the premise of the story and how they met as it was quite entertaining and different premise that the usual romance novels especially when the dogs play such an integral role to the story (love Bailey and Apollo) . I also like that Chase saw Sam first because they met each other. Sam is really likeable- down to earth, sassy and beautiful inside and out. Chase (aka T.D.B) was totally swoothworthy and its easy to fall for him once he and Sam get to know each other more. He may of been a bit cold in beginning it was lovely to see his front break down as he develops his relationship with Sam. Their love scenes were wonderfully written and the chemistry was palpable. Their perspectives between chapters really helped this reader to be become attached to Sam and Chase and get a feeling of the secondary characters as well (especially SETH!!!!)
The ending was written well and was left off perfectly. I throughly enjoyed this book!
Also.... the cover of 'Something About Tuesdays' is PERFECT. The cover model is a ringer for how i picture Chase <3... I can't wait to read more Barbara C. Doyle
This book is about Samantha, who has just been dumped by her boyfriend. She is not as upset about the breakup as she is that she no longer has a date to her brother's wedding. She catches the eye of bartender Chase when she meets girlfriends who are celebrating the breakup with her boyfriend. She reminds Chase of his ex. Unbeknownst to both they are neighbors, and they meet when he comes to tell her she has a hole in her fence. Chase and Samantha have some explosive chemistry, and both are very well developed characters in this book. This book kept my interest and kept me reading very late. This was my first book by this author, but I doubt it is my last one. I think you should read this one.
My smile muscles have gotten a work out with this a new to me author. This is a romantic comedy at its best. Sam has a case of the Tuesday’s where bad events fall on that day. From her boyfriend dumping her before her brother’s wedding with a lame excuse. On line dating gone bad and meeting her sexy brooding neighbor who is upset that her dog knocked up his dog. Chase is sexy broody neighbor. He is newer to town and has walls. Sam reminds him of someone in his past and he reflects that onto Sam. Loved how he was able to see that she was so much more. Loved how she persevered through his gruffness. I will definitely be reading this author again. A great read that leaves you in a good mood. I am happy to volunteer to leave a review for this book.
I was a little hesitant to read cause of the bad reviews, but I’m glad I did! I loved Sam, somebody who doesn’t find it incredibly important to dress up, go out with “friends” and get drunk but would rather stay home with Apollo.... she’s an easy to like person, who’s down to earth... Chase is still scarred from his best friend/girlfriend cheating and leaving him without a word, and Sam resembles his ex, so is a little grumpy and hostile at first.... These two characters are opposites, and I loved them, it’s not all lovey dovey, they fight! This book was easy to read, and I thought flowed quite nicely that I had finished it within a day :) My first book read by this author but definitely not the last!
Something about Tuesdays follows Sam and Chase. Sam, is finishing her business course whilst working as a vets receptionist and Chase is working at a bar, trying to save enough money to open his own garage. Sam is fresh out of a relationship with a jerk and Chase got dumped by his girlfriend and best friend and completely ghosted. The 2 are neighbours and begin a friends with benefits type arrangement but Chase keeps messing with her head but getting scared and ignoring her, then coming back. Chase is a really likeable character but I would have been really annoyed and probably far less forgiving than Sam if he treated me that way. But has a HEA so all good.
It took me a little while to get into it but once i did, I didn'tt want to put it down.
I couldn't stand Chase at first I thought he was just a complete. d!%k. And I hated that he acted the way he did when he first met Sam. But as I got further into the book I learned more about the characters and understand them. Sam and the dogs I absolutely loved from the beginning.
So if it takes you a min to get into it just stay with it I promise you'll like it.
I loved that Sam and Chase's dogs had a starring role in their relationship. The story is like life...comical, cringeworthy, and steamy. The whole online dating/catfishing was a little scary. I found it amusing that what Sam was creeped out by something one of her suitors said he'd do to her, but it was fine when Chase did it. I get feelings can change, but it was still weird. As was when Chase seemed to feel sorry for Sam in the beginning and then almost seemed to despise her after their initial meeting...but that's just me. It was an entertaining read.
Something about a bad boy with silver eyes... Chase and Sam are exceptionally well written, realistic characters that everyone can't help but fall in love with. The humor makes you belly laugh, and I mean, there are puppers (dogs) involved ;) Another incredible story and one that's topping my personal chart this year. Hands down must read!
Sweet fun and funny. This is a very cute easy read that makes you feel good. Even though a large part of it is set over the festive period it's not really a Christmas book. Sam is quirky and at times has a broken brain to mouth filter which can have hilarious results. Chase has some past baggage or work through but knows Sam is worth the effort.
Cute, funny and romantic. This books hits all three. Chase is jaded about his long time best friend/ex leaving. When he meets someone who looks just like her, he finds himself being rude to her. The more time they spend together, the more the attraction grows! It was an awesome story with two happily ever afters.
I just loved Chase and Sam in this book. It was funny and just such a great story to read. In this book you find two people who were just trying to get by in life and well first impression for them wasn't the greatest as Chase was a jerk and well Sam was a little to revealing. They had so much chemical and misunderstanding that it kept the reader interested until the very end.
First book I've read by Barbara C. Doyle, but will not be the last!! Chase and Sam are well written, Sam is one of my favorite characters.....ever!! He's broody, she's quirky, but their chemistry is real. I love a take charge guy, but she's no pushover. The book moves quickly, has the right amount of humor and steam, an overall great read!!
This was such a good book!! Sam and Chase have such a unique relationship that you can't help but laugh out loud during one of their banter sessions!! This story was very well written and keeps your interest from page one up until the very last page. Along with the banter and humor, you get dogs!! What else could you need?
This is my first. Book by Barbara Doyle. I really enjoyed the romantic comedy. Chase first sees Sam from across the bar. She is there with friends to help cheer her up after a break up. They find out they are actually neighbors and that Sams dog knocked up Chases dog. This is a sweet and very funny book. Great characters and a great story line. Get ready for a laugh.
You know it's going to be a good read when I actually like the heroine . I can be picky about female characters and I loved Samantha. She was quirky and real. And Chase was all broody next door neighbor. How can you not fall in love with them .
This was such a fun and heartwarming book. Full of humor and realistic expectations. I can't wait to read more books from this author.
This Romcom you will laugh until you can’t breathe literally when this author writes i literally want to buy her books bc her books make me laugh this one is literally about a hot sexy neighbor mistaken identity hot hookups & dogs what more can we ask for.
I really loved this one.it had me laughing out loud, a lot! Sam and Chase, aka TDB (Tall, Dark and Broody), are the complete opposite and the perfect match. It was fun watching them as they got to know each other and. I loved Apollo and Bailey.
I love a slow burn romance, gives the characters chance to come alive properly and this book did that perfectly. This book has a lot of heart, not just the romance but the characters were just plain lovely. I was sad to finish the story. A great read.
This book was really good. Very unpredictable and that's what I love most about it. Great characters especially Sam. Chase is lucky to have her as his life partner. Fantastic read and highly recommended.
My first read from this author and I totally enjoyed it. The characters were so entertaining. I totally loved Sam and Chase together. Although I think I love Sam more. Would definitely read more from this author.
