In cooking and in love,
sometimes you have to improvise…

When Nikki lands an assistant job at her idol’s restaurant, she’s sure her next big break is around the corner. After a rocky start, she befriends Paul, the handsome executive chef. Although he graduated from culinary school, and Nikki’s a self-taught cook, the two begin bonding in the kitchen.

But Nikki’s new boss, Holly Hanson, turns out to be anything but admirable. She'll stoop to anything to save her restaurant, and Nikki and Paul both pay the price.

Can they win against the scheming of a celebrity chef? Maybe, with some creative thinking...and a dash of love.

A self taught chef + Cordon Bleu Chef = sparks fly when recipes are cooked. The story goes thus Nikki has a flair for food. Though self taught, food speaks to her in a way that makes her a natural. Paul on the other end, is a Cordon Bleu Chef, who cooks but the dishes appear uninspired. Enter the bad guy, Holly Hansen, who wants Nikki's recipes but not her talent.
And then circumstances occur, and the universe throws Nikki and Paul together and then stands back to enjoy the sparks which fly when tempers and passion rage.
This is my first book by Liz Issacson, and I am pretty sure it ain't going to be my last. Opposites attract, even if they are cooking in different ways. Egos clash even when they secretly agree and love each other's cooking.
I love the way, Liz has described the Nikki and Paul, they are different, but at the same time, they compliment each other like two pieces of a puzzle. The skirmishes these two have, throughout the story, left me laughing most times, and sighing with longing, the rest. The other characters provide the right support to the story to make the book so much more entertaining.
I like the contariness of the characters in the backdrop of cooking. I love recipes and seeing others cook, though I hate to cook. I like the way Liz makes these characters flawed but wholly likable. I love the way the two join forces together at the pop-up restaurant to show their individual flairs and to upturn nefarious plans.
Though romance is not my favourite genre, I wanted Paul to be a bit more dashing, but on the whole, it is a sweet fast read. Love always wins.

I love Hallmark movies but I don't think I've seen this one. I'll have to try to find it and watch it because after reading this book, I bet it is cute!

This book swirled all around food. Restaurants, cooking, recipes. . . I hate cooking so I couldn't really relate to the main character's love for cooking, but I have a grand appreciation for it because most of what they were making sounded delish! I mean, we all have to eat, right?

This is a very slow moving romance, so if you are in it for that, you might be disappointed. The story is a gentle one but very sweet. My favorite bits were when Nikki and Paul joined cooking forces to create together. That's when the magic happens.

This story takes place right around Valentines Day so this may be the perfect time to pick this one up and get in the mood for love!

I watched the Hallmark Channel Original movie 'A Dash of Love' starring Jen Lilley and Brendan Penny. The book and the movie mirror each other very well!

This is my first time reading a book written by Liz Isaacson.

What I absolutely loved the most about this story was the differing POV's. The scene would start with Nikki Turner's thoughts and end with Paul Delucci's point of view, which made for a very engaging slow burn romance between two chefs who cook side by side, support each other and open a restaurant together. The chemistry between the two are unbeatable!

"She'd really enjoyed flirting with Paul. The spark between them seemed instant..." (pg. 93).

"Paul realized he had his two favorite things standing right in front of him - his kitchen and Nikki" (pg. 136).

"They weren't dating, but the shy touches, the quick smiles, and the flirting had certainly increased every time they were together" (pg. 172).

I love that the story centers around Valentine's Day with Cafe Cupid, and heart shaped ravioli and spontaneous dancing in the alleyway. I love the decorations, the glitter, the flowers and the shades of white, pink and red.

I also enjoyed the writing style-it was so descriptive and entertaining to read! I laughed out loud on more than one occasion and so often swooned by the developing romance.

There are so many fun food options to fantasize about... whether it was the bland cassoulet, beef stew with root beer, almond biscotti from the bakery, peanut butter root beer Bourguignon or waffle fried chicken - "...staring at her plate of food like it was a long-lost friend" (pg. 73).

There is an Epilogue in the book that shares a second ending that the Hallmark Channel Movie does not air. The back of the book contains an original recipe of Beef Chili with Cinnamon.

The message of the book: Live your dreams. Take your talent and turn it into art (or - crayons can make art, too). Failure doesn't mean you give up. "You just keep your eye on the prize, and someday I'm sure you'll get your dream" (pg. 9).

"A Dash of Love" is such a cute story and I highly recommend!

Is the Book "A Dash of Love" better than the Movie version?

Nikki has been working in her dream job for years – she’s a cook with an ‘out of the box’ flair for taking the ordinary and unexpected (WHO uses rootbeer and peanut butter in beef stew?) and making something delicious. But the diner she’s worked at for the last while is closing, and the need to find another job, preferably cooking, is imminent. Her problem –she doesn’t have the experience of culinary school, so most of the restaurants in town won’t consider her for a position. Her best friend has already found a new job – waitressing for Nikki’s Idol – Holly Hanson– at her self-named restaurant, one of the many arms of the octopus-like brand she has built. An ‘after-shift’ invitation for Nikki to meet her roomie and perhaps have a moment to meet her idol have her completely excited and ready for more.

Paul is a Cordon Bleu graduate and has been Holly’s Executive Chef for the past five years: a job that he does very well, even as Hope’s refusal to consider ‘tweaking’ bland recipes or allowing him a dish on the menu have stifled his love for the job. He knows that there are tensions between Holly and her major investor Henry – the restaurant isn’t busy enough and it is obvious to everyone. When he meets Nikki, having a glass of wine and the cassoulet that he wants to tweak as she waits for her roommate – their conversation only serves to enforce his own doubts about the dish, even as it hurts his feelings. But when Nikki arrives as Holly’s ‘assistant’ the next day – he’s floored.

Nikki is wonderfully open and friendly, with a true sense of warmth that infects everyone around her. Her instinctual approach to cooking, combined with her ability to elevate even simple foods is a revelation – to no one more than Hope who, after locking her in the restaurant after hours on her first day, discovers her cooking a meal – and her plan is born. Holly needs new recipes to bring in diners – Nikki is thrilled to be there with the stars in her eyes, eagerness to please and excitement in being in Holly’s presence. Perhaps she can spin this new assistant along for recipes and rework of her restaurant – before firing her (of course) without revealing who actually made the food.

The romance here between Nikki and Paul is sweet – slow to burn and full of moments of miscommunication: his own frustrations with her ‘helping’ to see he and his parents reunited and her own inability to share her deepest thoughts as her ex was ‘not interested in her pipe dreams’ all lead to more confusion and back and forth than is truly necessary. With insets about food and flavors, moments of giving back and moving forward and a huge bombshell dropped by Holly in a last-ditch ‘hide the secret’ moment: the story brings Paul and Holly together as they should have been all along. Sweet and clever with character development that tugs at your “I want to know more” string – this is a quick read sure to leave you with a smile.

Recently, I've enjoyed reading books that Hallmark movies are based on. So when I heard that Hallmark was beginning to publish books based on their movies. I requested A Dash of Love through NetGalley, and here we are!

A Dash of Love is a cute story featuring Nikki, an excellent cook who can't get a cooking job at a restaurant because she doesn't have a culinary degree, and Paul, a trained chef who runs celebrity chef Holly Hanson's kitchen. Nikki gets a job as Holly's assistant, and she and Paul quickly grow close. But when Holly proves she'll stop at nothing to save her struggling restaurant, Nikki and Paul decide to take a leap of faith and try something new.

Let's get this out of the way right away: If you've watched the Hallmark original movie A Dash of Love, you don't need to read this book. As the book is an adaptation of the film (instead of the other way around), it so closely mirrors the movie that there's really not much new except for an epilogue that gives the reader a glimpse at what happened after the film ended. A few conversations are stretched out, and the reader is given a look at what both Nikki and Paul are thinking throughout, but overall the book is so close to the film that it just feels repetitive.

So then I tried to put myself in the place of someone who hadn't already seen the film. Would I have enjoyed the book more in that case? I think so, probably. But I can't go back and unsee the movie. So here's my recommendation: If you enjoy clean romances (and this is just as clean as every Hallmark movie), and you haven't seen the movie, then by all means read the book. But if you've already seen the film, the only reason I can see to read the book is if you're dying to know what happens to Nikki and Paul in the future. (It is sweet, but it's not earth shattering. If you can borrow it from your library, then by all means do so. But is it worth your $5.99? I'd say no.) 3-1/2 stars.

Disclosure of material connection: I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review, and the opinions expressed are my own.

I received this book as a free gift from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

It would be very hard not to like Nikki and Paul, the two main characters in this story. Both of them are genuinely nice people and although they have had their struggles both in relationships and in their jobs, one can't help but wish them the very best.

Nikki loves to cook and create but has never had the opportunity to attend culinary school and when her job at Gus's Diner ends due to Gus's retirement she finds it difficult to get another restaurant job cooking without that so important piece of paper. She has always idolized celebrity chef Holly Hanson and is thrilled to finally land a job with her even if it is only as her office assistant.

Paul has worked for Holly for five years but is increasingly frustrated that although he is an excellent chef in his own right, Holly insists that he follow her recipes exactly and truth be told - they are bland and rather tasteless. When he meets Nikki, it seems at first as if they will get off to a rocky start but it doesn't last long and if it weren't for Holly's no fraternization amongst employees, the instant chemistry these two experience would have moved their relationship along very quickly.

Holly Hanson is not a very nice person and is willing to do anything to maintain her celebrity status, even to steal recipes created by Nikki. I almost felt sorry for her a few times but that changed when her true character (or lack thereof) became obvious.

Reading how Nikki and Paul overcame the obstacles they faced and reached their happy ever after ending gave me several very enjoyable hours of reading. I am looking forward to trying the additional chili recipe at the end of the book too. Now to search out some cinnamon hearts!

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

It's not every day I get overly excited about a book but since the day I knew it was coming out I was really excited.

Nikki's dream is to be a chef...the problem. No culinary degree. But when she gets a job working with her dream chef Holly Hanson has an assistant things are looking up. And Paul, the handsome executive chef is a nice add to the mix. But when Holly Hanson steals Nikki's recipes, it'll take Nikki and Paul working together to save both their dreams.

This was such a cute book that I couldn't put down. Hands down the best book all year...(and I know this is only my second but still...) I have seen this movie several times and this book is a nice addition, shedding light on scenes in a funny and witty way.

I highly recommend this book to anyone and if you like it, make sure to check out the Hallmark Channel Original Movie, A Dash of Love.

This was a lovely story with a realistic plot. The characters which led this story and held together everything which made up this novel were fantastic at what they set out to accomplish. If you would like to place yourself into a book, to become that character, then this is the novel for you.

This takes place in January and February. It ends on Valentine's Day and has a lot of food in it. Some sounded good. The story is about a cook looking for a job, and a restaurant in decline. There is romance between the cook and the head chef. I had hoped that the conflict between the couple and their boss would end differently.

If you've seen the movie, this book is a fabulous companion to that. If you haven't, this is a love story that will leave you smiling because it's so sweet. This is a Hallmark story so there is no sex or cursing – if those things bother you, you have nothing to worry about here.

I have to confess that because I've seen the movie, I went into this book apprehensive. How could words on a page convey the kind of adorable effervescence that Jen Lilley exhibits on screen that makes this movie so good? It turns out that my fears were for naught because author Liz Isaacson absolutely nailed it. There are no other words for it. She perfectly captured the bubbly spirit and sweetness that makes Nikki the kind of character that a reader (or viewer) can't help but root for. I've seen the movie more times than I should probably admit, but I still stayed up until one in the morning to finish the book because I needed to see this version of Nikki and Paul get their happily ever after.

This book follows the movie story line accurately, but it adds a ton of humor and heart. Getting a look inside of Nikki's head added so much depth to an already likable character, and even the scenes in Holly's point of view added a lot of background that made what she did make more sense - and it made it more reprehensible. But to me, Paul was the character that I connected with the most while reading this book. His inner voice and his inner thoughts were so enlightening. Paul was no longer just a handsome face (although his crinkly eyes were described perfectly!) but he was a really fabulous character. Ms. Isaacson took Paul from a sexy guy who had a little bit of a backstory to a really deep and surprisingly emotional character who was exactly the kind of book hero I love reading about. And that epilogue? It was so perfect that I was kind of hoping it would never end.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a fun to read, sweet love story even if you've never seen the movie because this book will leave you smiling and feeling happy.

A Dash of Love by Liz Isaacson
Source: Netgalley
My Rating: 4/5 stars

Nikki is not a trained, professional chef, but she is an outstanding cook with a creative streak a mile wide. Her foods are crafty, creative, tasty, and oh so satisfying. She’s been gainfully employed in other people’s kitchens for years, but her dream is her own restaurant with complete creative control over the menu. With any luck, Nikki’s new job will be yet another step toward her dream.

Working for Holly Hanson is a dream come true and Nikki can’t believe her luck! Holly’s food empire is a thing of beauty, a wonder to behold. She owns a successful, top-notch restaurant, her cookbooks line the bookstore shelves, and she is a celebrity. Trouble is, over the years, Holly’s menus have become bland and boring, her actual kitchen output is noticeably decreased in quality, her restaurant isn’t doing all that well financially, and she’s generally a terrible human being. Though Nikki only knows about a few of these things, she isn’t deterred and is determined to make the best of her situation.

Thankfully, Nikki’s situation includes approval to cook in the state of the art kitchen after closing and interacting with Paul, the delectable and uber-talented executive chef. Like Nikki, Paul is trying to make the best of his situation and that includes cranking out Holly’s tired recipes night after night and having no creative freedom of his own. Nikki’s presence makes the job bearable and, once he discovers her clever, creative, and completely enticing food, the situation becomes exciting. Paul is bowled over by Nikki and wants to see her succeed professionally; Paul also wants her to succeed personally, with him. Trouble is, both Nikki and Paul work for a scheming tyrant whose machinations will have devastating consequences beyond their wildest imaginings.

The Bottom Line: I was looking for a super-sweet, little bit of drama read and A Dash of Love absolutely fit the bill! From page one, I liked Nikki, her attitude, and her determination to see her dreams come true. Though she faces some awful, soul-crushing moments, Nikki doesn’t let it defeat her. She’s plucky, not afraid to stand up for herself, and with Paul by her side, willing to take risks. Paul is the perfect balance for Nikki, and once she helps him work through his family issues, he’s also the perfect man. The only thing I found lacking in the book was a proper ending for Holly Hanson. My evil twin really likes to see the big bads get what’s coming to them. My eviler twin likes to have what’s coming to them all spelled out and that didn’t happen here which left me somewhat dissatisfied. But, only somewhat 😊 There’s nothing ground-breaking or profound here, but there is a solid, sweet, heartwarming, guaranteed HEA read between the covers. A Dash of Love is a quickly read book that makes for an excellent rainy-day distraction.

Heart warming, light read based on the Hallmark movie starring Jen Lilley and Brendan Penny.

I watched the movie first and then read the book. I wouldn’t normally do it in that order but in this case, the movie existed before the book was written/released.

So, if you’ve seen the movie you might be a bit disappointed that the book doesn’t continue much beyond the end of the movie. I feel like the epilogue is the only real continuation of the story beyond the movie. Want to solve that issue? Read the book first. I think you’ll give both the book and the movie a higher review if you do it that way. (Just my opinion of course)

If you haven’t seen the movie yet, here’s the summary of the storyline of the book.
Nikki is a talented cook but she’s not a professionally trained chef. When he job cooking at a diner comes to an end, she finds that it’s an uphill battle trying to find another job as a cook.
Her best friend and former co-worker gets a job working for Nikki’s idol. When Nikki visits he friend at work, she not only meets a handsome chef, she also finds herself getting a job with her idol.

This is a turning point in Nikki’s life.
Soon she starts trying out new recipes (after hours in the restaurant’s kitchen) and she starts bonding with her crush the executive chef Paul.

I liked the characters.
I loved the food descriptions.
The author kindly included one of the recipes in the book.
I wish she had also included the recipes for the waffle coated fried chicken and the peanut butter and root beef braised stew. I know, I’m being greedy but the descriptions of those recipes make you hungry! I would try either of those recipes in a heartbeat and I just may try the chili recipe that was included too.

I got to read an early e book edition of this story from NetGalley.
I recommend reading the book, then maybe making up a batch of the chili to enjoy while watching the movie.
And I also suggest that of the author isn’t totally done with her final draft, maybe she could include that peanut butter root beer braised stew recipe :)

A cute Valentine read.

Nikki's lifelong dream is to be a chef in a five star restaurant. Her problem: she is not classically trained at such schools at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. She thinks she has found the perfect job to learn from THE chef in Lakeside, Holly Hanson. Nikki becomes her assistant, entering receipts and such, as Holly has agreed to let Nikki cook after hours in the restaurant kitchen. Paul, Holly's classically trained chef, has a disastrous run in with Nikki on her first day but he soon finds himself smitten. Paul learns of Holly's generosity in allowing Nikki to cook after hours and becomes suspicious immediately as Holly is known to be quite the opposite. Can Paul figure out what is going on before Holly ruins his chance at love with Nikki?

I am a sucker for Hallmark's romance and mystery movies. Yes, I admit there is a gooey, smushy side to this reader. Sometimes you just have to read about romance, hearts and flowers. I especially love a good, clean romance after reading a book full of mystery and death. It is like a palate cleanser for me. Hallmark Publishing has found the perfect way to accomplish that in writing books based off their movies. They are short (usually under 200 pages) books and always have a smile at the end.

A Dash of Love was sweet, romantic and heated in that there is a lot of cooking going on between Paul and Nikki. My interest in piqued between Nikki's Cinnamon Candy Chili (recipe included in the book) and Peanut Butter Root Beer Beef Stew (yes you read that right). My next mission is to find this movie playing and watch it as I would love to see how the sparks fly on the screen.

Thank you to NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for a copy to read in exchange for my honest review in my own words.

ARC for honest review with no compensation

Dash of Love by Liz Isaacson is based on a Hallmark Original Movie and so on point. Love watching Hallmark Movies and this just adds to it.

What’s a short order, self-taught cook in a diner and an executive chef who works for a celebrity chef have in common…their love for food! ! When Nikki’s job at the diner comes to an end she is looking to get into an upscale restaurant to work in the kitchen and show her talents but when she is hired by Holly Hanson, celebrity chef and restaurant owner, her job is as an assistant to Holly and not work in the kitchen since according to Holly without a culinary degree Nikki knows nothing about food or presentation. Little does Nikki know that when she approached Holly to let her use the kitchen after hours to keep her cooking skills honed, Holly is stealing her recipes to put in her new cookbook and to feature in her restaurant as her own recipes. Paul the executive chef accidentally discovers Nikki working after hours and one thing leads to another and I don’t mean exchanging recipes…but when Holly discovers them she fires them both but when Paul and Nikki find out what Holly is planning they decide to beat her at her own games and with Nikki’s former diner closed they decide together to open a Pop Up restaurant to show case Nikki’s flair and Paul’s new recipes that is until Holly finds out and tries to destroy them both…will Nikki and Paul let Holly win or will they pull together and show her how a top notch restaurant is run and find a lasting love???

Nikki’s dream is to become a chef in a an upscale restaurant. She has not been formally trained. She is self-taught. She has been the chief cook at a local diner for five years and has developed her own special recipes. When the owner of the diner decides to retire and cannot find a buyer so that it can remain in business, Nikki’s is forced to find a new job.

Holly Hanson is the owner of a 5 Star restaurant, author of several cookbooks and a real prima donna. Paul has been her master chef for several years. He is becoming increasingly dissatisfied by the fact that Holly won’t allow him to use any of his own recipes . . . Everything served in her restaurant must be her recipe. Paul wants to serve some of his own creations.

Nikki can’t get a job as a chef because she has no formal culinary training. She finally lands the job as Holly’s assistant. She is stuck doing office work, not creating culinary delights. Nikki stays late one night and creates a delicious beef stew. Just as she is starting to taste her creation, Holly rushes into the kitchen. The motion detectors had set off the alarm and Holly was called. Holly can’t believe the amazing aromas coming from her kitchen. Nikki offers her a taste and she is amazed. Holly decides she has to have the recipe.

Holly may be a master chef, but she doesn’t seem to have many scruples. The culinary espionage kept my interest and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next.

I enjoyed this delightful story and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a well-written contemporary romance.

A "short order" cook, a diner, a chef & a celebrity restaurant don't seem like things that go together but they meshed perfectly in this adaptation of a Hallmark movie. Nikki is a self taught cook with a flair for food. Her odd combinations make good comfort food even better. The only thing she lacks is self-confidence. When Gus, the owner of the diner where she is cooking, decides to retire, he wants her to take over but she doesn't think she can make it. Now, without a job, Nikki is looking for any job to make rent money.

Paul has been the executive chef at Holly Hansen's fine restaurant for five years. He loves being a Cordon Bleu chef, even though the food & menu have been uninspired for some time. Holly nixes any ideas he has & makes him feel foolish for even suggesting them. A bad review from a customer has him feeling discouraged, even though he agreed in his heart with what the customer said. He hates to leave his job & his mentor but what should he do?

I loved these characters! Nikki & Paul are complete opposites even thought they both like to cook. Nikki is open, honest & friendly while Paul is closed down, private & moody. The interactions between them were at times sweet & at time hilarious. The supporting characters invoke emotion in the readers & provide depth & dimension. This is a really nice, sweet romance with a little drama.

Nikki Turner has a passion for cooking, but because she is self-taught and didn't attend culinary school, she has a hard time finding a new job when Gus's Diner closes. She finally accepts a job as an assistant to award-winning chef Holly Hanson. Although Holly can be difficult, Nikki immediately clicks with handsome executive chef Paul Delucci. Working at Holly's restaurant could lead to all of Nikki's dreams come true - or could end in disaster.

"A Dash of Love" is a feel-good, clean contemporary romance based on a Hallmark movie. I missed this movie, but have seen plenty of others, so I knew what to expect. There are things that are far-fetched, but the book is a great escape and is perfect for a light, quick read. Nikki and Paul hake a great couple. Although they have different backgrounds and different cooking styles, they have chemistry both in and out of the kitchen. After a potential career-ending event for Nikki, orchestrated by her former idol Holly, Nikki can have her happily ever after if she isn't afraid to take the chance. I enjoy the epilogue which gives the reader a look at where Nikki's life is one year later. Fans of Hallmark movies or of Debbie Macomber's novels will enjoy this sweet romance.

I watch many Hallmark movies as they are both wholesome and leave you with a good feeling. In transitioning these movies to books, Hallmark is providing a great reading selection for those who want a love story with a clean story line.

When I read romances, I prefer this format. This book follows the format of the screenplay of the movie but branches out into the thoughts and feelings of the characters. When get to see into the minds of several of the characters as the POV changes quite often.

The story is about a young woman, Nikki, who is trying to establish herself as a chef but who lacks the culinary school credentials to be hired by the formal restaurants in her town. She does get hired to assist a very well-known chef and celebrity but only as an administrative assistant. There is also a hunky and sweet chef named Paul who is intrigued more and more by Nikki.

A happenstance locked door provides her with a time and place to try out her recipes in the restaurant but it turns out that someone else is watching as well. From that point, the story plays out with good guys and bad guys and lots of great sounding dishes. I kind of wish some of the recipes had been included as well!

I was provided a digital advance reader copy of this book by the publisher via Netgalley.

Nikki was a cook and the restaurant she worked in was closing. She was a classically trained chef, she was just a really good cook with lots of creative skills with food. Her idol was Holly Hanson and when she was given the opportunity to work for her as her assistant, she jumped at the chance. Holly had a food empire. She had cookbooks, food products, a restaurant and she had no creativity with cooking, anymore. Her restaurant was sinking but she wasn't willing to give up the reins to her executive chef.

Paul, her executive chef, was a very talented chef who was trained in Paris at LeCordon Bleu but he was stuck just creating Holly's tired old recipes because she didn't allow ANY revisions. He was bored and wanted more. When Holly was "caught" she reacted out of desperation and fired both Nikki and Paul. I won't give away the secrets but suffice it to say that there is a happy ending that involves great food.

I really enjoyed reading this book very much. It was well written and the characters were fleshed out. This isn't the first book of Liz Isaacson's that I have read and I am sure it won't be the last. I was given an arc copy of this book and I enthusiastically offer my review.

Another cute contemporary romance by Liz Isaacson. I haven’t seen the movie yet but now I must find it to see if the cinematic version is as good as the written one.

Nikki is a cook looking for a job. She’s not trained in any culinary school but has lots of experience and creativity, which unfortunately doesn’t get her far. She is bubbly and full of optimism. I didn’t connect with her in the beginning but as the story progressed, I began to understand her better, especially when things were explained through Paul’s eyes. Paul is a French-cuisine trained chef working for a five-star restaurant but is unhappy and carries a lot of family friction that is still unresolved. He’s the quintessential hero - wounded but loyal, loving, compassionate, dedicated, hard-working, thoughtful and thoroughly supportive of the woman he loves. It’s a sweet and tender romance with a good dose of delicious food and restaurant business thrown in. The secondary characters like Nikki’s best friend and Paul’s parents are great, too.

I received a copy of the book from the author. I was not required to write a favorable review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.

When I read the blurb of this book I was excited it was a foodie type book which I love. I was nervous about it being based off of a movie though especially since the book came out after the movie I guess? I haven't watched the movie but plan to when I see that its on.

A Dash of Love was such a cute book. I think my favorite parts were when Nikki & Paul were cooking together those are the moments I loved. I love how much passion they both had for cooking. I legit got teary eyed near the ending.

Overall its a cute short read that I'd definitely recommend! Especially if you love cooking! Reading this book made me want to leave work and cook. It also inspired me to get creative with my food, to really make a recipe mine.

Only two problems with this book.
1. It wasn't long enough!
2. I would have loved to have the recipes mentioned in the book!

Especially that Beef Stew! Can't wait to try the chili and when I do Ill update my review!

*I received this book from NetGalley and the publishers to review. Thank you!

Thanks to Netgalley for giving me this book to read in exchange for an honest review. No compensation was given, offered, or taken to alter the opinion.

I have read several of Hallmark's Christmas movies turned books and in every review I said how much I loved them and how I want it to become more of a thing. Well it looks like I'm getting my wish because here's a Hallmark Valentine's Day book! With the Christmas Hallmark books I read, I either hadn't seen the movie or it had been so long that I forgot, so it was great to read the book first and then watch the movie on tv. With A Dash of Love I remember watching the movie last year when it first premiered, so it was fresh in my mind. I still enjoyed reading the book though! It was that sweet, super cute, over the top romance only Hallmark can pull off and get away with. This is the perfect book to read around Valentine's Day. I love these Hallmark books even more than the movies because I love getting inside the characters' heads. I can't wait to keep reading more of these!

I’ll start off by saying reading “A Dash of Love” definitely gave me an appetite will all the mention of food and the way it was described. I wish Liz included some of the recipes to the meals because I totally want to get in the kitchen now. After reading this adorable and sweet romantic story I want to see the movie this book is based on. I loved Nikki and Paul, their chemistry was amazing and a bit intense to me. They were both lovable in their own different ways and I especially love how they found each other on their journeys of following their dreams. They’ve both experienced set backs and together they learned how to move forward. That’s what makes this story so realistic and sweet. I truly recommend this book to anyone who loves an amazing romance story and to anyone who loves food because with the two together this book is the perfect recipe! Here’s to falling in love and following your dreams!

A Dash of Love by Liz Isaacson is based on the Hallmark Channel Original Movie.
This is a sweet love story about two people and their love of food (especially making it) and finding themselves along the way.
Nikki Turner is a self-taught cook and likes invent a dish with the most unusual foods (example – chili with cinnamon sticks, Paul Delucci, is a trained Le Cordon Bleu chef who works for Holly Hanson a (once chef) author and owner of the restaurant as the chef and idol of Nikki’s.
Together they explore new adventures concerning themselves, their love for cooking and what matters most to make them happy.
This is a sweet love story not only about two people but how working together anything is possible. Love can win in the end!

Words cannot even express how much I loved this sweet story by Liz Isaacson. It was very different from her other works I have read, but I enjoyed it just as much. Nikki is an incredibly talented cook but it isn't enough to get her a job as a chef at a high end restaurant. When she stumbles upon an opportunity to work for renowned chef Holly Hanson she can't pass it up, even though its as her assistant, not as a chef. Will this be the opportunity of a lifetime, a complete disaster or a launching pad for her own career? When she has an unfortunate meeting with executive chef Paul, will it ruin her chances of fulfilling her dreams or open new doors? This story is incredibly engaging and has some delightful surprises I didn't see coming. Don't miss this sweet story!

Cute little hallmark story. Spoiler it’s a hallmark story, everything works out in the end. I appreciated the main character for her gumption. Her recipes weren’t anything unique to the point that I felt she deserved to elevate from line cook to chef. The villainess I thought would have a true change of heart at the end, but her story line fell flat once she was confronted. The love story was slow, but not in a good slow burn way. I wanted the hero paul to man up a little and tell the heroine Nikki that he was into a lot sooner than he did. There was a side romance between the bar tender and a waitress/Nikki’s roommate that I was more interested in, and slow Paul and Nikki’s. All in all a quick summer fluffy romance that does not have smut and you don’t have to think a lot in it.
