Mani arvien vairāk sajūsmina šī grāmatu sērija! Šoreiz Lī Češīrs ļauj mums iepazīt, viņaprāt, 50 izšķirošākos notikumus mākslas vēsturē - aptverot gan teju ikvienam zināmus notikumus un personas, gan pavisam svešus un mazzināmus, ļaujot ieraudzīt plašāku kopainu un to, kā viena lieta/mākslinieks/darbs ved pie arvien jauniem sasniegumiem, atvasinājumiem un skatījumiem. Patiešām aizraujoši un baudāmi, turklāt iedvesmo pētīt dziļāk un uzzināt vairāk.

Gandrīz kā tāds mākslas detektīvs: kaislības, intrigas, noslēpumi, drāmas, pat slepkavība. Gan lieli, iespaidīgi notikumi, kas ietekmēja arī citas jomas, gan sākotnēji sīki atgadījumi, kam tomēr laika gaitā izdevās iespaidot mākslas attīstību. Interesanti sarakstīts, bija viegli lasīt.

Lengvai skaitoma ir paprasta knygai greitai ir paviršutiniškai peržvelgianti svarbiausius meno įvykius. Knyga nėra labai informatyvi, tačiau iš kitos pusės tai padeda knygai kuo plačiau aprėpti meno istoriją, o ne apsiriboti ties vienu laikotarpiu (pvz.: renesansu). Silpnos, bet 4*

Це не енциклопедична всеохопна робота, це скоріше мистецькі очерки. В книзі розповідається про 50 подій протягом останніх 500 років, починається все з доби Відродження і до тепер, на кожну обрану Лі Чеширом подію відведено близько 2 сторінок.

Має бути цікаво тим хто тільки починає свою мандрівку світом мистецтва, але і більш досвідчені поціновувачі знайдуть для себе щось цікавеньке, або зможуть позалипати у репродукціях.

This is a nice little book. Good illustrations. Easy to read. Maybe a bit superficial with each "key moment" contained to 2-4 pages. The author has picked just 50 events over the last 500 years to make his points. One of the things that I found intriguing was the importance given to the establishment of academies etc of Art. All of them seemed to suffer from having a stultifying impact on artists and their art. They seem to have strangled creativity instead of stimulating it. The other thing that I found fascinating was the way virtually all of these "key moments" were derided by the established arts and art critics of the time....usually along the lines of "call that art" ...my dog could do better. It certainly raised questions in my mind about "what is Art?" And Marcel Duchamp's readymade fountain is really the model for these questions. It does seem to me that what has become in the public's mind ..."good Art" has really been the beneficiary of some sort of great PR or marketing. Brancusi, Picasso, Duchamp, Damien Hirst, Rodin,and many others ..all seem to have benefited from some m major incident or event. The other thing that struck me was the keenness of young artists to write manifestos and form breakaway groups ...which rarely seemed to last. The author is senior editor and copywriter at the Tate ..and this seems to show through in a few of his selections....but on the whole they are probably well chosen. Easy reading, clearly written and well illustrated. I gave it 3 stars.

Sanatın Olmazsa Olmazları serisi uzun bir zamandır listemdeydi ve sonunda Sanatın Önemli Anları kitabıyla seriyle tanışmış oldum. Rönesans döneminden başlayıp günümüze kadar sanat tarihinde önemli rol oynamış olayları ve sanatçıları yalın bir dille okuyucuya anlatıyor. Tabii ki bu olayları çok derine inmeden, yüzesel bir şekilde anlatıyor hatta bana kalırsa bazı olaylar ve hikayeler bu anlatım dolayısıyla eksik kalmıştı. Sanat tarihinde devrim niteliğindeki bazı olayları daha detaylı anlatmasını tercih ederdim. Fakat bu kitabı sanat tarihine yeni başlayanlar için ideal buldum. Hem okuyucuyu yormuyor hem de görseller, bağlantılı olaylar ve eserlerle birlikte sunulduğu için öğretici olabilir.
Kitabın sonunda kısa bir terimler sözlüğü bulunuyor. Kitaba dair en çok beğendiğim şey bu oldu. Okurken terimleri ve kavramları daha iyi anlamak için dönüp bakabileceğiniz bir sözlüğün olması sanat tarihi okumalarını çok daha anlaşılır ve kolay bir hale getiriyor. Serinin diğer kitaplarınada göz atacağım. Sanatseverler ve özellikle yeni başlamak isteyenlere öneririm. Sanatla kalın!🎨

It's really 2,5, to be honest. The book itself is not bad per se, you get a nice and quick rundown of what influenced art in Europe, and some of the key works and you start at the 13th Century and end with some events of the early 2000s.

But you can't call this book "Key Moments in Art" and ignore the entire Asian and African continent. The name should be Key Moments in European and USA arts because except for Hiroshige showing in Paris in 1867, it completely ignores key elements of Art in general - such as the invention of papyrus or when the Chinese started accompanying their poems with the first calligraphy arts, or Korean Buddhist being among the first to introduce detailed Buddhist sculptures artistically, obviously long before David was ever made etc..

But, this book is great if you have an interest in broadening your knowledge about fine arts history and great for some exams for students, since it does follow the typical European curriculum of the needed dates and events, such as Book printing invention, Michelangelos David or Van Goghs works etc.

It is a brief book that discusses fifty examples which are considered key moments in art's history that managed to change its course and public perception in the form of new styles and movements, the start-up of the Louvre and guilds and more, whether for better or worse. It is easy to read, with good photocopy paper for the illustrations

Trumpa ir blizgi kaip reklaminis lankstinukas, bet pateikia faktų ir pavardžių, kuriuos toliau gali googlinti ir youtubinti, nerti gilyn elektroniniais kanalais kol atsibos. Svarbiausi - nesvarbiausi, kur tos teisingosios svarstyklės? Pvz. "Miršta Cezanne'o tėvas", "Žurnalas Life parašo apie Pollocką" - du iš tų Svarbiausių. Nepaisant to, keliais kabliukais pasigavo mane ir nusitempė į elektroninius vandenynus, užteks užsiėmimo daugeliui laisvadienių.

Very good (and quick) panorama of Western art from
Renaissance, covering some key milestones. A bit too UK-centric, and definitely very partial to a certain small cohort of Art, but anyway, it contains some interesting background and a quick read/introduction to the topic.

Nedidelė, lengvai skaitoma, gyvai, glaustai ir aiškiai parašyta knyga apie autoriaus atrinktus meno pasaulio įvykius (kartais nuotykius). Gal kiek užkliuvo, kad tokiam ilgam laiko tarpui aptarti užteko 50 nutikimų. Vis tik nekyla daug abejonių, kodėl pasirinktieji įvykiai aptarti kaip turėję įtakos bendrai meno raidai. Puikios iliustracijos ir sužadintas noras toliau domėtis - tikriausiai tai, ko ir reikėtų norėti iš meno pagrindams skirto teksto.

Man ļoti patika grāmatas formāts - māksla kā nelieli stāsti par autoriem, laikmetu un motivācijām aiz pasaulslaveniem šedevriem. Grāmata patiešām piemērota mākslas pasaules iesācējam, jo paskaidrots ir cilvēcīgi - bez samudžinājumiem un sarežģītiem terminiem. Protams, visu (vai pat lielāko daļu) neatcerēšos, bet šis tas manā prātā ieķērās.

"Past events can seem as if they are inevitable. The future is uncertain, the present still to be properly understood, but because we know what did happen, it is tempting to think that it was always going to. The neat progression of history that we find in books today was not preordained. What we love now was not waiting to be found. Someone at some point had to make a decision, a choice. They had to take an action that could never have just happened."

This book carries with it a philosophical view of history that focuses, not on overarching trends only visible from the viewpoint of the armchair historian, but rather on the chance meetings, landmark performances, fights, lawsuits, auctions, and thefts that have shaped the world as we know it.

That said the book itself is quite surface-level dedicating no more than 3 - 5 pages per moment, perhaps that is the scope of the book itself. But I didn't find myself greatly intrigued by many of the stories and simply put - the moments chosen fell short of the lofty introductory language on impact and purpose that was this book's opening crescendo.

"Pagrieziena punkti mākslā" ir grāmata, kas sniedz dziļāku skatījumu uz mākslas vēsturi, piedāvājot ne tikai izcilus mākslas darbus, bet arī vēsturiskos notikumus, kas tos ietekmēja. Autors neaizkavējas tikai pie pašu mākslas darbiem, bet sniedz kontekstu, kas ļauj lasītājam saprast, kā dažādi vēsturiski pavērsieni formējuši mākslu.

Grāmata ir īpaši interesanta tiem, kas vēlas ne tikai aplūkot mākslas darbus, bet arī izprast, kā vēsture, politika un sabiedrības izmaiņas ietekmējušas mākslinieku darba procesu un radīšanas apstākļus. Tomēr grāmata galvenokārt koncentrējas uz Eiropas un ASV mākslas attīstību, atstājot mazāk vietas Āfrikas un Āzijas mākslai, kas ir liels trūkums, ja vēlamies iegūt pilnīgu skatījumu uz pasaules mākslas vēsturi.

Lai arī grāmata varētu iekļaut vairāk dažādu reģionu, tās pieeja, kas aplūko mākslu caur vēsturisko prizmu, ir vērtīga un aizraujoša. Tas ir lielisks darbs, lai iedziļinātos mākslas attīstības ceļā un atklātu, kā notikumi ārpus mākslas pasaules bieži kļūst par tās virzītājspēkiem.

Очередная книга из отличной серии "Основы искусства". Автор выбрал главные, по его мнению, события, которые определили направления развития мирового искусства от Возрождения до нашего времени.

МЫСЛИ И ВЫВОДЫ:
- На появление мощных трендов, в том числе и в искусстве, влияет одновременное совпадение нескольких значимых явлений, которые усиливают друг друга (как говорит наш любимый Чарли Мангер Lollapalooza эффект). Например, на развитие импрессионизма повлияло в том числе и изобретение тюбиков для красок, чтобы можно было спокойно рисовать на природе. Без них не было бы работ Моне и Сезанна.

- Бум на современное искусство был вызван в конце 80-х богатыми японскими бизнесменами. Тогда картины постимпрессионистов стали продаваться за десятки миллионов долларов и постепенно стали из предметов для украшения интерьеров в один из инструментов инвестиций.

This book only scratches the very surface of the history of Western art. Choosing only 50 moments for 600 years of history is, of course, very limiting. Overall, I was pleased with the general selection of these moments.

The thing I appreciated the most was the inclusion of the connected events. Very often art overview books present art events in isolation. By ditching the facts-only approach, the reader is presented with the actual context in which the art world was shaped.

I'd say it's a good lazy weekend read. Engaging, easy to follow, and quite superficial.

Tabii bir seçki olduğu için bazı olayların atlanmış olduğu hissine kapılıyorsunuz fakat bunu bir yazar derlemesi olarak kabul etmek en doğrusu. Sadece sanatçılar ve akımlar etrafında şekillenen bir anlatımın yerine okulları ve müzeleri de içeren geniş bir seçki hazırlanmış. İngilizlerin, 1816'da yılında nasıl bir hile hurda ile Osmanlı Devleti'ne ait Parthenon tapınağına ait heykel ve mermerleri çaldığına da değinilmiş. Sanat konusunda başlangıç seviyesinde, bol resimli ve kısa sürede okunabilecek bir kitap.

Labs ieskats mākslas vēsturē, ja esi galīgs iesācējs. Zinātājam gan, es pieļauju, būtu par plānu. Es par mākslu zinu diezgan aptuveni, cik nu esmu aizvilkta uz izstādēm pa visu pasauli un mācīta principu - skaties - un Ir.

Ieinteresēja prerafaelīti un Eiks, par ko gan nedaudz zināju, taču ne gluži nozīmi un vēsturi. Nezināju, ka Gogēns bija tāds kretīns savā dzīvē. Turklāt, kā jau vienmēr, 20. gs māksla garlaikoja mani, un arī apzinos, ka tas ir the most basic take uz šīs planētas. Bet nu, skatos - un Nav.

Очень интересный экскурс в историю искусства, который выполняет аж три задачи: неочевидные факты об известных людях, показывает развитие искусства в динамике, дает небольшие намеки почему «современное» искусство именно такое. А главное появилась острое желание пройтись по музеям и выставкам и посмотреть все самому.

Из минусов могу назвать подборку. Она, на мой взгляд, достаточно субъективна. С другой стороны, а чего еще ожидать? Как никак подборка авторская.
Так что поделать можно было бы, разве что большего объема. Ну и отсутствие античности более чем объяснимо.

Kibirli bir sanat tarihçisinin hışmına uğramamak için en baştan şunu söyleyeyim kitabın sanat tarihi anlatmak gibi bir derdi yok, isminden de çok net anlaşılacağı gibi Sanat Tarihinin önemli (kırılma) anlarını anlatmaya çalışmış. Derli toplu gayet güzel bir eser. Sanata meraklı gençler için çok ideal bir eser. Zaten böyle bir gencin satın aldığı bir kitaptı, ben hemen hamle yaptım ondan önce ilgiyle okudum.

Лаконічна і проста книга про деякі важливі події у західному живописі та скульптурі з часів Відродження до сьогодення. Добре підійде для тих, хто тільки починає цікавитися світовим мистецтвом. Але для тих, хто вже більш-меньш орієнтується в темі - в цій книзі буде мало нової інформації. Окремо зазначу приємний на дотик папір та якісний друк.

Точніша назва книги: "Ключові події в мистецтві Західного світу від епохи Відродження", адже книга охоплює саме такі географічні й часові рамки. Багато цікавого фактажу, зокрема з особистого життя геніяльних митців. Книга радше для тих, хто має вже уявлення про історію й персоналії західного мистецтва, однак хоче розширити й структуризувати наявні знання.

Informative and enjoyable! I have seen many artworks in my life but do not have a good grasp on art history so it was a nice present through which I was able to get a better idea of a timeline and gain a little knowledge. Would recommend if you are in a similar position. :)

Me gustó mucho, es una forma muy amena de aprender de arte, de historia, de aprender cosas nuevas sobre artistas, y sobre todo de apreciar lo suertudo que soy! Uno de mis mayores placeres es visitar museos y al leer este libro disfrute recordando. Tendré que leer el resto de la serie!
