I read a lot of books for review and as a general rule, I hate giving less than stellar reviews, but I wasn't left with much of a choice here.

Since leaving this review on Amazon, I have spoken to the author and she has told me that her next story will be been sent to an development editor and more diligence will be taken.

The whole concept of another realm where Witches, Shifters, Vampires and even Ghosts, coexist together sounds like it should be exciting. When two different species mate and produce a child, it allows for all kinds of wondrous things to happen.

Evangeline is just an ordinary girl, working at Kyle's department store, when she finds out she is an AngelWitch. Her mother is a witch and her father is an Archangel, which makes her a very sought after commodity. But not everyone has her best interests at heart.
Some see her as someone to help unite the races, others see her as an abomination who must be destroyed.
There are four other witches, from each of the elements, fire, earth, water and air, who are needed in order to unite the Covens and created one, united Witches Coven.
This book tells the story of her quest to find the Witches, meet her soulmate Felix (also an Angel) and defeat the bad guys trying to destroy her.

Unfortunately, this story was let down, more or less, from page one.

The number of times that 'working in retail' was mentioned, the book would be at least a quarter shorter.
But the spelling and grammar are the things that let this book down badly. It did detract from the overall reading experience, but don't write this author off, just yet.

Received free copy in exchange for honest review.

This book has potential, the description of Angeline peaked my interest instantly, supernatural fantasy with a bit of romance. However, it was extremely difficult to read.

The story seemed rushed. Extremely rushed, I could not relate to the main character at all (even though I, like her have worked in retail - for over a decade.) It felt like every second sentence mentioned how she 'worked in retail' and she effing hated it.

If the author slowed way down, worked on more character and world building, found a beta, cut the 'working in retail' mentions by about 90%, it could be a cracking book. The author has a great imagination, it is just poorly written.

Hmm.. this was ok I guess? I had a hard time getting into this book. 🙁

Maybe because the writing style is not for me. I can’t relate to the MC, the plot and the MC. I skimmed..a lot.

The story was promising though. A hybrid of angel and witch, but the writing was all over the place. Seems like the author can’t organise her thoughts well. Sorry. 🙁

I really, really wanted to like it because hey, angels and witches, but this doesn’t do it for me.

Thank you Booktasters and Ms. Samuels for the free book.

The idea for the story is a good one. However it is written very poorly, the grammar is terrible and the plot holes are big enough to sink a ship. I honestly thought it sounded like it was written by a 13-year-old when I read it. It needs to be edited very badly. If the grammar and plot discrepancies can be fixed the story has the potential to be very good, even excellent.

Angeline by Jessica Samuels has a gorgeous cover. The title itself rings beautifully true to the themes of the book. The story itself is of a woman who breaks from the world of retail and into a world of all manner of mythical creatures including, vampires, dragons, witches, angels, and shapeshifters. The narrative is first person from the point of Angeline herself as she learns her destiny is something greater than cleanups on aisle five. Plucked narrowly from the clutches of dark angels and into the waiting wings of her soulmate, she discovers powers and wings of her own. Raised in the foster care system, Angeline is amazed to find her mother is a high priestess of witches and her father is the Archangel Michael himself. Angeline sets out on task after task to claim her birthright: gather the ingredients for her transformation into her powers and find others like her in order to save them from horrible fates. The story is one of empowerment and breaking free from the mundane. By the end, Angeline confronts not only her villainous ex-boyfriend but her insidious boss, seeking revenge and is much more than he appears.

There are some continuity questions and clarification issues. I wish she had went into more detail about the world she has created. The world crafted sets a foundation for something truly amazing which leaves the reader leaping for connections which could be more fluid. The novel could use a little polishing as there were several punctuation accidental double periods and unintentional combining of words. The story has all the markings of a paranormal romance but lacks the traditional buildup and exploration of feelings on an in depth level is lacking.

It’s a fun ride to see Angeline rise from the ashes and into the Heavens, but I wish there was a better balance of action to internal dialogue. The book ends well with a promise of more to come in Angeline’s tribulations. More is clearly on the horizon for Angeline and the reader can’t help but wish her well.

The story follows Angeline, the protagonist, as she leaves the world of retail she hates so much behind and gets thrown into a completely different world of angels, angel dragons, witches, vampires, werewolves and shapeshifters. I really liked the idea of the people knowing about supernatural creatures, since they usually lurk in the dark.

Angeline has the power to erase memories and replace them with new ones. She was adopted and when I found out who were her real parents I was pleasantly surprised. As for romance, she was in a terrible relationship that left deep scars. On the bright side, she has a loving Angel soulmate, Felix.

I loved the Angel Witch concept and the world the author created. It has the potential to be a great paranormal romance and I would love to see this magical world explored more in future AngelWitch books.

This is a great book with a great story. I had enjoyed most of it prior to receiving an updated copy of the book. The updates to this book were a great addition.

My apologies to the author for taking so long to review this book as it was received as part of the @Booktasters book club on Twitter.

Who wouldn't want to leave retail to fight evil? Angeline does it and with a little flare. I feel the world the author is trying to build will be great. Especially another book or so in. I'm excited to read book two to see where else the story goes!

Angeline: AngelWitch book is about a girl working at a normal retail store. She loves her job but she really hates her superior, Kyle, and some demanding customers. She did not know who she really is and her true power until one day she entered a shop and meet her angelmate, Felix.

Overall, this book is about the journey of ones to find her true self and her power. In my opinion, this book had a very fast storyline where everything happened quickly. There's not much to elaborate but I do admire the author for her great imaginations. If you just started to have a reading habit and love fantasy genre, you may read this book as I believe it will suit you.

While Angeline has a great mythology and a very interesting premise.
I had trouble with the way the characters were developed.
Angeline's motivation to work in a retail job she hated made no sense.
And her disdain for everyone around her made it hard for me to connect with her on a personal level.
I would adjust her inner monologue and the dialogues were a bit shaky.
The story has a teen romance feel, but the language is a bit harsh for such an impressionable target.
Great history, but I would frame it differently.
The mythology was pretty cool. The whole Angel Witch Soulmate angel was a bit of a stretch.
But, all in all a very solid story.

Some chapters in this book were too repetitive, it has a pretty good story line, just needs a bit more on the characters

The book's initial plot was actually quite good. What really threw me off actually was the grammar, terrible grammar, also the lack of thought organisation. Furthermore, there were quite a lot of loopholes in the story, but I really think that with a better editor and a deeper connection to the main characters it could be a great story!
It feels to me that a great part of this story came from rage to retail stores, and that is a great way to sort out her issues, but it could be better written.
I recommend a good editing and I would give this book a second chance for sure!!!
