Congressman Cameron Dall was once the Great Green Hope of the environmental movement, but now he's living on Monkey Island at a California zoo. Forced underground after defying his political mentor, movie star / entrepreneur Emil Luce, Cam tries to accomplish at the zoo what he couldn't in Washington...and seeks a very personal revenge on discovering the widespread destruction, through commercial development, of his beloved Sierra Nevada. Battling the Entertainment Age, Cam learns, is far more difficult than fighting City Hall...until he realizes his real allies are gibbons, otters, and an elephant, and that human ambitions are no match for nature's laws. Emil -- a super-charged amalgam of Mel Gibson, Robert Redford, and Bono -- has a seemingly unstoppable vision of a scrubbed-and-efficient America, but Cam -- a cross among Robinson Crusoe, Edward Abbey, and Jane Goodall -- may yet win the war.
