Book 1

Meet Scarlett Smith, Southern Vampire Detective…

Well, at least that's what she is today. Not too long ago she was just a regular Southern Belle in love with her soldier, dreaming of a life full of babies and white picket fences.

Then she died.

Now she's a vampire in a shifter's world trying to make sense of her sudden thirst for blood and her strange ability to read the emotions off of others. Especially as it pertains to death—she and death have a strange affinity for one another now, but best not to dwell on that subject too long. She's still totally just a normal girl, except now she solves murders and drinks a little type-O on the side. No big deal, she's certainly nothing special or amazing...right? Except every once in a while she senses something stirring inside of her. Something dark. Something ancient. And something very, very powerful. But for now it's just easier to pretend she's nothing more than a vampire with a badge and a gun who just so happens to have the hots for not one, but two different shifters one of whom is her step-brother.

No one ever said being dead would be easy.

Book 2

My name is Scarlett Smith. And I’m a vampire who was raised by a pack of wolves. Little crazy, I know. But let’s not get hung up on semantics here. Because I’ve got a story to tell.

There’s something inside of me. A darkness. And she’s really starting to make herself known, think Harley Quinn on ’roids and you might get the picture. She’s powerful and definitely unhinged, but I don’t have time to focus on that right now because I’ve got bigger fish to fry.

From the Alpha shifter on trial for breaking the unbreakable oath to a local vampire clan wanting me to party like it’s 1699, I’m in neck deep—pun intended. Have no fear though. I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeves and some unexpected allies in my corner. Sure, there are bound to be a few surprises along the way, and I’m guessing they aren’t all good. But, no one ever said being dead would be easy…

Book 3,

Scarlett Smith is back, but this time the stakes couldn’t get any higher…

Mercer and I we shouldn’t have done what we did at the Infantes Castle, not killing the vampires, cuz…let’s face it, they totally deserved to die. No, the other thing. Binding ourselves to each other. Mating. The cost was too high. And now, our love might make us lose everything we hold dear.

Now we've been summoned to Georgia to meet with the Alpha Council. Clarence is guilty of conspiracy to commit murder against his pack, but somehow he’s only gotten a slap on the wrist for it. Something’s just not right. I know it and so does Merc, but we’re helpless. We have to go to Georgia, we have to fight to save Silver Creek. But when we get there and I find out what the council really wants me to give up, I’m not sure I can. I’m not sure I will.

But a betrayal is coming for me. A big one, one that will shatter all the things I’ve ever believed in or held sacred. And before three days are up, the world as I know it will never be the same again.

Join me on the explosive finale that you are sure to never forget…

I thought it best to write reviews on the separate books in this series

Book 1
Initially I found this book hard to get into as there was so much to read, numerous main characters with individual threads winding through the story and it was a bit overwhelming. Scarlett is so broken and empathic which is unusual in a vampire, her human emotions overwhelming and causing her to seek a connection to feel less alone. What first seemed like a tragic love triangle penned into a world of shifters and vampires. While I am not a huge fan of love triangles this develops into a life altering secret that could be the end of them all. The author force feeds us information at a trickle piquing my interest as to how this series will play out. The story line was intriguing and different to other books I have read keeping me reading late into the night.

Book 2
Rarely does the second book reach the expectations of the first one but I am happy to say that this one does. There is so much going on and the author describes everything in detail that sometimes you can get bogged down with the world you have immersed yourself into but that is my only complaint. Scarlett and Mercer are the star-crossed lovers, the Romeo and Juliet of the Supernatural world. They are set on a path of self-destruction and sacrifice and the surprises just keep coming. Scarlett is a likeable character, a kick ass heroine who has such human traits that you forget she is a vampire. Mercer is broody and sullen, a deadly shifter who is stubborn, loyal and and madly in love with Scarlett and together they are complete.

Book 3
This series is not for the faint-hearted as it is bloody, brutal and disturbing at times. The first book was just an appetizer but the second and third have quite a lot of violent sex scenes and swearing, so readers beware. All that aside I was hooked from the first page and two days later I have devoured the Chronicles and desperately wishing I had more pages to read.

Scarlett Smith

This was a great series, I really enjoyed it. Scarlett goes from southern belle, to a vampire, to..something else (read it to find out)! The journey.how.She gets there has its ups and downs, she is loved and loves a lot. she is stronger than she thinks..not just powerfully but emotionally too.

For a book with 'detective' in the title, there wasn't as much detecting as I expected. I was anticipating more Dick Tracy and less romance. That being said, the book was still very enjoyable. The mysterious part to me was the 'alter ego' of the protaganist. Very unique. The build up for the audience trying to figure out the secret that all of these characters know was a bit much for me at times and there was quite a bit of angst from both the protaganist and the love interest, which, to me didn't really pay off until the end.

It definitely left me wanting to read more so I'll grab the next one when I get a chance.

Enthralling

This series was entertaining and kept me on the edge. You think you know what's coming...and in a sense you do. But then BAM-you don't. You know that there a curve coming but it's never what you think it'll be; how it'll be. But some of the best writings happen that way. Take a chance on this series and I don't think you'll be disappointed. I'm going to read the rest of the stories that take place in this universe.

Great novel

A vampire who is not a vampire and a wolf who has watched her since she was a child. He rescues her from a vampire and brings her into his pack. Mercer is a magnificent creature and although he loves Scarlet deeply he cannot let her know. She becomes a member of his pack but is an outsider. There are many twists and turns in this saga and it will be difficult to put it down. Excellently written and a great paranormal novel.

Good in parts

The first book was excellent, really well written and strong plot. The second book seemed to lose its way and the third one finished the story but I didn't care for Scarlett's character development. It may have seemed necessary for the plot, but was a little too damsel for me. Happy ending for Dean though.

All I can say is wow. These three books ran the whole gamut of emotions. I was confused as heck through a lot of it but at the end it all came together in a beautiful masterpiece.

The Scarlett Smith Chronicles

WOW!! I could hardly stand to put this grand
adventure down. It was well-written and satisfying on multiple levels. I was often irritated with the overly dramatic Scarlett, but grew to understand and appreciate everyone. Great job!

Good read...

Book was good, but at times not understandable. I have questions I feel were not answered. Mate yes or no?

I tried

I tried to read this book and give it a try but I had a hard time finishing it. There were a lot of typos in this version and the story was a little hard to follow.
