This was a fairly light story that was loads of good fun. I’ve been busy so it took a bit for me to read than was probably necessary - and due to other stuff on my mind, it didn’t grip me as much as I would have liked. That being said, there was a lot of good high-quality stuff in here. I presume that this was self-published, and I will say in many self-published books, the writing frankly just feels juvenile, which actually wasn’t the case, which I was pleased well. There were some moments in the writing that wasn’t perfect, but it read well and easily so I was glad of that.
The characterisation in this was fine, it wasn’t anything astounding, but there was enough to each character that gave them enough depth and character, so that was fine. I liked Lola a fair bit, they were quite interesting to follow and read about as well as the more mythical characters the reader met along the way.
I actually really quite enjoyed the worldbuilding and thought that the author did a great job with that. There was quite a lot to this world and there was a lot of good lore and it really well built up, so I certainly must commend the author for that, because I honestly thought that the world was one of the best aspects of this novel. The caveat to this is that there was a lot of travel where this book was really a travel/adventure novel, and that was fine as it did help flesh out the world and the reader was able to appreciate it a fair bit.
This does lead me to my next point which was that I didn’t find the plot to be particularly riveting. The world and characters were good, though I’ve read a lot better, but aside from some moments near the end, I was not as engaged into the plot as I would have liked. Look, I’m not the biggest plot reader, which is why I’m only really deducting one star considering that much of the rest of the novel was fine. Perhaps I wasn’t as focussed as I would have liked while reading it, but if a book is truly gripping, it will grip me, no matter how much stuff I may have going on around me.
Now, I did appreciate the artwork that this novel contained, I thought that they were cute, and whilst not meaningful, I always like art in my novels. 7/10

"A little hero named Hikaru Lola:

Lola the Buhund and the Father of Discord is the second book in Lola the Buhund series. Written by Elbot Carman, this book narrates Lola's and her friend's next adventure. When they decide to explore the rest of Lumea and begin to attend the Summer Solstice Festival of Chikyuu, an evil spirit named Mikaboh disturbs their peace. Will, they managed to defeated Mikaboh and the evil forces and protect Lumea?
For me, the character that I loved most is Lola the Buhund which her name bears the title and the series. Lola is a cute dog with courage and a great spirit. I adore her good attitude and compassion towards her friends and those who need help. She is a brave dog who has a strong will to defeats evil and protect Lumea. For me, Lola is the archetypal representation of loyalty and braveness. I think most children will like her character too.
Another thing that I like from this book is good versus evil battle which is the main theme. The way Elbot describes the plot when Lola and her friends faced Miikaboh and the evil forces from conquering Lumea and some mystery elements make the story more interesting. I also realized that the author includes many cultural elements in the story. Most of them are Eastern culture elements like Chinese and Japanese culture with few Indian elements in them. The readers can see it towards the clothing, some of the character names, places, and more.
To conclude this, beautiful and cute illustrations make the book more appealing. It is a little bit longer with few hundreds of pages if compared to most of the children's books that I had read but it didn't affect the quality of the story at all. Moreover, with nice store flow, the book begins to sparks my curiosity to read it from page to page. The readers also will experience a mixture of feelings when they read it. Funny, sad, exciting, and curious. Because of that, I am glad to give it a 5-star.

The story follows Lola after her previous journey. This time Lola and the gang face a stronger and menacing foe, along with an ancient enemy that has returned to strike terror. I wasn't expecting for there to be a time when I would’ve read and enjoyed a talking dog going on a quest (and best of all, there are several other animals that call attention to the story!)
My favourite one is the cat and the girl who plays flute. I was hoping they’d get more spotlights, but I guess it's no easy thing to do considering this story has numerous important characters at the heart of the plot.
I love that this story is action-packed, but there's a downside to that. As a reader, sometimes I feel we are not given room to breathe, and the characters themselves are not given a break to process what took place during their journey, and all the trauma and bad memories that every one of them went through.
And it might just be a me thing, but at times I had trouble distinguishing the characters from each other, the new added members in particular. It feels like we’re picking up every single character on a trip and our truck is so packed that we can't breathe.
Other than that, everything went so well. I was quite invested in the characters and the plot, and I couldn't wait for so much to happen. So 3.5 stars for me! A solid, enjoyable read.

Following the action packed adventures of Lola the Buhund, anew, was fun! In the first book of this fantasy series, Hikaru Lola, the dog heroine brought back the world's light. This time, Lola and her friends become Worldly Sages, since they have to prevent the end of the world by confronting, Mikaboh, an ancient evil spirit who threatens to undo reality itself, and sunder everything to nothingness.
Due to the sequel's vast array of new and previously introduced characters, that includes animals, humans, immortal spirits, and some that even go beyond classification, it can get rather confusing sometimes. I can imagine only moreso, if the reader hasn't read the first book. Nevertheless, I found the spirits enthralling, the villains are super, and Lola is just as adorable as before. Also, the plot is simple enough to follow. There is so much happening in the author's imaginary world of, Lumea, it really is quite captivating, filled with unique details that let the mind drift far and away.
Once more, the dialogue is witty. I found, there were less present-day phrasings used that didn't fit the setting, in comparison to the first book, but really, this aspect of the writing style should have been given more thought. And also, it required careful proofreading to polish off the story.
The strange graphic style illustrations are striking in their simplicity and they all have good composition, still, I felt that the line work needed refining, especially when depicting character hands.

Full of magic, adventure, action, imagination. Animal love and their connection with humans is heart touching. The writers creativity is fascinating. Moral values too are added in some parts.
The dog and its human save the world again with the help of magic and skills. The journey includes a lot of hurdles but they stay motivated. Keeping the third book in mind, the links have been created beautifully. Dream part is just awesome, making it real. There are many things which will grab a readers attention like the journey where they find Ruark. I felt this one to be the awesomest.
Do read it but after the Empty Sky. 🙂

I really love this book like the first one its full of action, average. Your kids will not put that book down. It's really a page turner.
I did really love it and this book made me cry and made me laugh as well. I like the cute drawing that all the chapters have of the characters and where they are located. Lola is a cute and adorable dog who want to see and save her city. Like I said this book is full of action and your kids will love this one as well of the first one.
Pick up this book for your kids and you will see that their will not stop reading this beautiful book.

I really enjoyed the first book and knew that I would want to read more about Lola and her exciting quests alongside her companions. The new characters made the story even more enjoyable than I expected. The story was exciting, fun and gripping. I really loved reading this and recommend it to everyone.

A fully adventurous cute story. Following the rescue of the world and restoring the light in the sky, lola and her friends try to fix the problem then unleashed in their previous adventure.
However their circle grew bigger.
And they became worldly sages.

Reading children's books is a challenge as the number of images to be used is in large amounts.

When we last left Lola the talking dog, Rook the talking rooster, their master Venice and their musician accomplice Aurora, they had rescued the sun, moon and stars, returning them to their rightful place. The thief of said celestial beings was banished underground, her ability to use magic removed. However, while there, she runs into an ancient evil spirit, who senses an opportunity to re-emerge. That causes the protagonists to travel in search of a special weapon to take out Mikobah, the villain spirit. As in the series’ opener, the quickly paced journey is filled with adventures, including parasitic root monsters, a buried city and an unearthed warrior from an extinct population who had been sleeping for 600 years. As they race to stop Mikobah from destroying the fabric of reality, they undergo transformations that make them as powerful as they’ve ever been. But will it be enough? Elbot Carman has spun another enjoyable tale featuring an eclectic cast of characters. However, there are quite a few auxiliary ones in this adventure, and at times it can be a bit difficult to keep up with who’s who. Perhaps extending the book a bit would have allowed for some more development. They're fun characters; you want to spend time with them. Maybe that will come in future installments. Because thanks to a very important item being swiped from one of the protagonists, there will be future installments.

This series is really among the better fantasy based childrens literature I have read. Lola, the wise and witty Buhund and her band of companions are catapulted into another adventure immediately after the first. The story begins right after the ragtag group have succeeded in their previous mission only to find another disgruntled spirit is out to destroy the world. That spirit is Mikaboh, the indestructible. A weapon may exist which can defeat him and the friends are tasked with finding it.
There is a nice mix of mythologies here, the guardian spirits are drawn from Greek and Sanskrit tradition. I think it would be a great activity for kids to research some more about their stories after they finish the book. The action set pieces are quite compelling as well. I'm still scared as well as saddened by the poor town full of grieving parents who are being targeted by devious mandrakes. My only issue with the story would be the sheer number of new characters and the difficulty of keeping track of them all. Maybe a glossary at the start of the book?
This book is recommended for middle grade readers and everyone else who likes to read about exciting adventures.

This is the second book of the Lola the Buhund series.
This time Lola and her friends fight Mikaboh, an evil spirit who has come to destroy everything. In this fight some new characters come to aid Lola but she finds a few new adversaries.
As enjoyable as the first book, this book is also very imaginative full of fantasy with fair amount of action and adventure, lots of magic and witty comments. Every reader who liked the first book will like this one too. I am giving four stars for the overall story and one star for the very cute, very lovable, very funny, very intelligent and loyal LOLA. 😊😊

Once again Lola caught me hooked and I couldn't put the book down. Lola's cuteness and wittiness is getting better book by book and I can soon imagine Lola prototypes filling the toy stores.
Jokes apart, Lola along with her other three friends go in search of new rival. Along the way she makes new friends as well as rivals. This story is interesting for kids as it's peppered with moral values. The connections to the next sequel have been built carefully. Can't wait to read the next part.

After reading first book, the second book took my interest to the next level. A very happy and interesting narration needs a big appreciation. No doubt I’ve become fan of the author. It is such a bright book with easy language made it easy read for me. Again all the characters were well written. The story, the writing, the spellings, typography everything gets a great thumbs up! Illustrations were well connected to the story perfectly. Definitely worth a read.

The story is fun, the characters are cute and the narration is good, I loved it. I like that it has nice graphics. I recommend reading the previous part Lola the Buhund, and the empty sky “. As there is a connection between the two parts. Also, there are a lot of new terms that enrich your language.

'vengeance was hers, yet her heart was still broken and her soul felt empty. she took off from the treetop and flew away into the forest. the sun set as she traveled back to the field that she and her friend had shared. by the time she had returned the moon hung high in the sky among the stars. spitz's form lay in the moonlit field, appearing as if she were fast asleep. she wasn't sleeping, though. the sparrow knew better.'

i was in a daze when i first started reading this thrilling book. i remember correctly, what i said was, ‘…is this really a children’s book? oh, wow.’
it wasn’t because it’s not appropriate for children, yet because it is too “wow” for most children to understand, in my opinion. if i take a 12-year-old child to read this book, there will be a 50-50 chance that they will understand. in short, i think the plot is too difficult for most children. or, it is just a difference in culture that i begin to think like this.
the prologue is sooo enchanting! i am not going to lie, the prologue is the best part of this book. i was hooked the very first time i read the prologue.
there are too many difficult names to remember. indeed, as a fantasy book, this is kind of a must-have. yet for me, this is frustrating. i am not keen on remembering numerous names i don’t even want to remember. if i am a true fan of this series then it’ll be a different story, but i’m not.

What a great book!!!
It contains an adventure full of magic and it feels like a found-a-family trope. Reading it makes my heart warm..
The journey that Lola and her friends do is my favorite part. You know, it's not about the destiny but the journey, right?
I like that this story is told not from just one character's side, allowing us to get to know each of the other characters.
The each protagonist characters are very supportive and suitable to be a role model. Somehow reading this book is calming. There are no jealousy, betrayal, or plot twists that are only done to lengthen the book like in adult books.
I don't know much about illustrations but maybe in the next book I can add illustrations of that very reliable auto caravan, I really want to see the picture. Also a map of their world, it's quite helpful to have an idea of where the characters come from or their next destination.
“We can watch what goes on in our loved one's lives through their dreams," the youngest of the two explained. "Can you please tell Dad and Uncle Robert that what happened to us wasn't their fault?”—this part make me cry💔😭
And when Ruark’s reason to save Sam😭😭
I really like this book, hope Mikaboh can be defeated by the upgraded version of Lola and the gang:D
It contains an adventure full of magic and it feels like a found-a-family trope. Reading it makes my heart warm..
The journey that Lola and her friends do is my favorite part. You know, it's not about the destiny but the journey, right?

I was lucky enough to read the first book through Booktasters and then go straight to the 2nd- something that is important because Lola the Buhund and the Father of Discord would be a hard book to follow without having read the first.
Lola, Rook (my favourite), and other characters from the first book return but there are also a bunch of new characters who are introduced. At times, the amount of characters make it hard to keep them all straight or to know them in-depth, but overall the wide cast means lots of interaction between different characters that keep things fresh.
The Spirits are far more involved than most deities are generally presented as but that's a nice way to learn about their personalities too. The villians are good and the action comes at a fast enough pace that you don't get bored but has moments of downtime when the reader can breathe.
This is a great sequel but shouldn't be read as a stand alone. Then again, when the first book is awesome too, why wouldn't you want to read them in order?

Once again, Hikaru Lola propels me to laughter, joy, and fondness.
The way I appreciate it is that the novel embarks on to solve the mystery of whoever let unchained Mikaboh and so on and so forth. New characters are popping along the journey as they unlock the mystery. These characters are really striking, strong, and distinct, to name one is the character of Ruark. Yes, he is the guy everyone must watch out for.
Yes, because there are no subplots and other mini subplots of the narrative, the tale is easy to follow. But one must watch out for new characters shoving out. Some authors provide a list of personalities and a brief description at the end of the novel.
To Sir Elbot Carman, thank you for giving us Hikaru Lola and the rest of the characters. You bring smiles, chuckles, and joy to me. Your imagination is soaring up in this sequel. I feel you want to tighten them up in the next book to come. I am so thrilled about how the characters grow, how the landscape will change, and what new and higher inspiration Lola et al. have to impart to everyone.

First of all, thanks to the autor and Booktasters for sending me this book :) so, saying that, I’m going to exchange an honest review about it.
Have to say that I truly love the map, it totally introduces you an idea of where are you going to travel, because you feel like that. Also love the illustrations and the culture that you can perceive. It’s an easy book for an adult not sure if for a kid, also, as an adult sometimes felt like I wasn’t having like that connection you usually expect. But it was funny to read.

When I first started reading this book, I started to think it was just another animal story about magic and folk. As I continued to read, I realized that it was a good book. I loved story as well the characters especially Lola. The characters are great for a youth book. I must admit, I didn’t know about the first book in the series. I have go back and read the first book. The characters name are sometimes hard to pronounce. I give this one five star review because, I love folklore.

It's nice to read something thrilling and this amazing. I loved this book, simple and easy to understand it is. It is exciting to read about the action packed adventures of Lola. Although I have not read the first book, I would love to read it, now that I read this one. The use of punctuation marks where needed makes this more understandable. The little poems make it beautiful. It is a fun read and will make you happy.

Due to the sequel's vast array of new and previously introduced characters, that includes animals, humans, immortal spirits, and some that even go beyond classification, it can get rather confusing sometimes...

what a heartwarming story
this one is so easy to read even i have to apologize to myself that i was super busy so i can not finish it soon

A warm and cozy read. Thoroughly riveting and exciting. Loved it through and through.
