This was exactly how I imagined Bathsheba. I always thought that she loved her husband and was taken from him against her will. I loved all the emotions in the story and how each character fit with how I thought they would be.
Bathsheba was married to a warrior named Uriah. He keeps going to war for King David. He is rarely home and Bathsheba dreams of having him home and a baby with her husband, she loves him very much.
On one of the times he is at war she goes to the rooftop and doesn’t think anyone will notice if she cleans her self. She does this but is unaware that someone is watching her.
King David calls Bathsheba to the place. It’s late at night and she fears it’s news of her husband, but the king has other things on his mind which is lust. He has his way and she is scared tenses up and closes her eyes. Afterwards the king passed out but awakens in the morning sending her away.
Bathsheba is shamed scared and alone, she cry’s her self to sleep neglects her self. Starts waisting away. Weeks pass and she discovers she is with King David’s child. She pins a letter and sends it to the king, a few weeks pass she is still neglecting her self but the King summers her again this time she refuses but passed out only to awaken in a soft bed with women who ate the kings wives, she learns she is a widow and that she is married once again only this time to the king.
I really do enjoy reading bible stories, I suppose that if the bible were written by a woman and went into each biblical story you would enjoy the stories more. I must say well done, seriously if you haven’t read anything by this author you really should!
My disclaimer... I was given a copy of this book for my honest review. Any book or novels I leave reviews on are not dependent on the book/novel review author’s opinion. No one influenced my voluntary review for any of the books or novels I read, they are my own opinions
This is a beautiful and interesting retelling of the story of King David and Bathesheba and their life together. Ms. Jennings eloquently captures both the joys and despairs of Bathesheba and David as individuals and as a married couple in this writing. Drawing on multiple Scripture passages, she has compiled a very readable and understandable account. The Bible states that King David was a man after God's own heart but it certainly does not state that he was perfect. In fact, reading about his personal struggles gives us as Christians hope to overcome those difficulties we often face. I feel I have a greater understanding and insight into the Psalms that he wrote as a result of reading this novel. I highly recommend this book to anyone who ejoys Biblical fiction...you won't be disappointed!
This was the well known story of Bathsheba, King David and Solomon. The author has, once again, brought to life this story in a way that had me crying more than once. A beautiful scripting of how this might have affected Bathsheba and her entire life. Another gripping story by Jenifer Jennings in this biblical fiction series. A very hard to put down book that I would recommend if you like this genre. Well worth your time. I received an ARC copy of this book. This is my voluntary, honest and completely personal review. I enjoyed reading this biblical fiction book about Bathsheba. Jenifer knows her Bible well which comes across when reading this book. It seemed to me that Bathsheba easily forgave David for what he had done to her, and I wonder if this was the case or if it took her longer to forgive him. I liked the relationship Jenifer created between Bathsheba and Abigail, one of David's other wives. This book definitely got me thinking about what I believe and it has made me want to return to the Bible and read again about Bathsheba, David and Solomon.
What a lovely story. I was given this book for my honest review I am an ARC reader. Loved the book from page 1. Sin, tears and happiness. You really had to carry on to find out how she managed, so much . I cannot spoil as you need to read this lovely bible story. One I thought I know but was surprised, enjoy as much as I did .
Ms Jennings tells this heartbreaking story so beautifully. In this book you will learn about Bathsheba...from sending her husband off to war yet again...then hearing of his death....to her rape ...the loss of her baby son...and eventually recovering from it all and seeing her other son become king. I definitely recommend this great read!

Another engaging Biblical fiction retelling of a well-known woman, Bathsheba. The author does a good job giving enough historical background to make it come alive. David's life story has its ups and downs and Bathsheba's role in it was instrumental in Solomon's upbringing and eventual reign over the Israelites. If you enjoy a fictional rendition of Bible times and people, this book - this whole series is something I would recommend.
Jenifer Jennings’s novels based on stories from the Bible really give you food for thought. She brings the stories to life with realistic fictionalized depictions of biblical facts. I have enjoyed all of them and this one of David and Bathsheba really appealed to me. It puts the basic facts into a more filled out story.
A Stolen Wife (Faith Finders #4), my fourth read from Christian author Jenifer Jennings. A well-written fictionalized expansion of the Biblical tale of David & Bathsheba from Bathsheba's perspective. I’ll be reading more by this author, now I need to read At His Feet (Faith Finders Book 5) the next book in the series! (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
God is amazing, loving, merciful and forgiving. This is a story of sin, repentence, punishment and forgivness. As a parent he punishes when needed but when we repent and turn back to Him, He forgives and moves on. This series of books will open your eyes and your heart to God. And all He is.
I loved this story of Bathsheba. My heart broke for her seeing things in her point of view. I can’t even imagine how she felt throughout her life, but I loved how Jennings gave her a full story.
