How would your life be different if you could regularly access boundless wisdom? Would it be more peaceful? Fun? Expansive? What are you waiting for? Each one of us sits upon our own toolbox--our own treasure trove of inner resources. The trick is learning how to open your toolbox and skillfully use the tools inside. In Sitting on the Buddha's Wisdom for a Joyful Life , Buddhist monk Venerable Bhante Sujatha uses humor, personal anecdotes, and a mix of ancient and modern stories to show you how to access your own deep truths and live a fuller, more joyful life.
I found the lessons shared in Sitting on the Toolbox to be pragmatic, positive, and inspiring. The writing reflected the passion, warmth, and humor of both authors. Great effort was made to ensure understanding by the reader and enable one to use the ‘tools’ in their own life.
The man who lost the key to his house endlessly searched for it on the outside even though the last place he had seen the key was on the inside. We search for definitions to our own happiness, our own contentment, and our own purpose on the outside even though we hold all of these answers within. In a world where money, vacations, status, and material items are sought after and hungered for in a way where we begin an endless cycle of wandering and wanting, we must recognize that what we are truly searching for already resides within. We hold the answers we seek. We are capable of feeling the euphoria we search for. We are in control of our own lives and we hold the key to our own happiness.
While for some this could be intimidating...approaching a Monks wisdom; yet, the teachings of Venerable Bhante Sujatha beautifully translated/transcribed and worded with Stacey Stern provides a very easy and relateable read. Thank you to you both!!
