Tim Dedopulos, a British writer, editor, publisher and game designer with nearly 100 works to his name in areas ranging from horror and sff, through music and art, to games, puzzles and jokes.

Tim lives in Spain with his wife and the ghost of his murdered bromeliad, grimly acclimatising to his new-found and unwelcome mid-40s. A shameless INFJ, he usually tries to avoid thinking in the third person.

It’s entertaining but most of the answers to the cases were too complicated or just came out of nowhere.
Sometimes, when the answer actually made sense, you can figure it out yourself, others, it’s just impossible.
The cases themselves were fun to read.

Ich fand die Zeichnung großartig und der Schreibstil hat einen tatsächlich nach London in die Bakerstreet versetzt. Das Lösen der Fälle war teils extrem simpel, teils aber auch eichtig schwierig. Manchmal waren deutlich zu wenige Hinweise gegeben. Auf jeden Fall was Nettes für zwischendurch in Herbst und Winter.

Just one niggle. The case often hinges on spatial relationships: the layout of rooms, lines of sight, and so forth. As a visual-spatial person, I found it very difficult to work this out from verbal descriptions. The book is full of illustrations, so why not some maps?

Ini buku kedua yang kali ini gua baca adalah buku pinjaman dari salah satu senior di kantor. Seperti yang kalian bisa lihat dari judulnya, buku ini bertema misteri berisi case-case yang akan dipecahkan oleh Sherlock Holmes.

Buku ini mengambil point of view dari dokter Watson, teman Sherlock Holmes. Di dalam buku ini akan disajikan 10 kasus yang mana di setiap kasusnya akan terdapat 3 bagian. Setiap akhir pada satu bagian kasus, akan muncul sebuah pertanyaan di mana pembaca diminta memikirkan jawaban untuk pertanyaan tersebut berdasarkan deskripsi yang telah dijelaskan sebelumnya. Personally, menurut gua buku ini cukup menarik, karena di buku ini pembaca tidak hanya diminta untuk menikmati cerita. Namun, juga diajak untuk mengasah pikiran dan melatih logical thinking and problem solving skill.

Di lain sisi, gua merasa buku ini juga cukup challenging. Ada dua hal yang mendasari ini. Pertama, terdapat beberapa English vocabularies dalam buku ini yang kurang common. E.g. buku ini menggunakan kata "parlour" instead of "living room" yang membuat gua harus buka kamus terlebih dahulu untuk cari tahu arti kata "parlour". Kedua, kadang gua sering kesal sendiri kalau gua nggak bisa menemukan clue untuk pertanyaan di case-case yang ada. Meskipun, ada kunci jawabannya di bagian belakang. Namun, nggak seru kalau langsung nyontek di kunjab. Hehehe.

Beautifully illustrated enabling the creation of mysterious and gothic atmosphere, but the actual mysteries are quite difficult and often not obvious from information given. Each mystery has 3 questions for the reader and sometimes the question is: 'what does sherloc mean?'. That leaves a lot to be desired. The stories are quite varied, imaginative and would have made for an excellent sherlock mysteries!

You couldn't always solve the mysteries yourself because the descriptions didn't always include the details needed to be able to solve them. Overall, it was like reading the plot of a murder mystery and nothing more. I think it would be better with fewer mysteries and greater detail.

J'ai abandonné, ça n'a pas été relu ni corrigé, il manque des morceaux de phrases, certaines sont, au contraire, en double, c'est carrément incompréhensible : illisible !
J'espère que les prochaines versions seront corrigées, parce que là c'est inadmissible de vendre ça !

Některé případy složité a vysvětlení taktéž. Někdy i špatně popsané. Zajímavý druh knihy a krásné ilustrace, ale chtelo by to doladit.

Oh dear !
Déception intense pour cet ouvrage... d'un point de vue éditorial... La couverture est superbe, un ouvrage cartonné, un beau papier épais, des illustrations pertinentes, un effet vieilli mais... pas de relecture ! Les erreurs sont énormes et je ne parle pas de simples coquilles, dans une enquête un paragraphe entier est écrit deux fois et ça brouille bien la compréhension ! Dans une autre, le nom de deux personnages sont inversés. Clairement cet ouvrage n'a pas été relu ! Et c'est dommage.
Néanmoins, les enquêtes sont top, c'est plutôt faciles. En général la solution est trouvable. Quelques fois cependant c'est juste totalement absurde et on ne peut pas la trouver mais pour ce genre d'ouvrage, franchement, ça reste assez minime.
Un superbe livre, des enquêtes intéressantes, des énigmes passionnantes, un prix très attractif mais... une relecture aurait rendu le tout plus sérieux !
