About the author

Biljana S. Crvenkovska is a writer, screenwriter, editor and translator. She had a carefree childhood full of various adventures such as running outside, climbing trees, stealing apples and cherries from neighbours’ yards, taking care of dogs and cats and playing all sorts of fantasy games, from witches and wizards to space superheroes, which, fortunately or unfortunately, is the main reason for the fact that she will never really grow up.

Whatever the reason for not growing up, the eternal child in her is the one that made her step into the world of stories as an author of children's books, and, strangely enough, for the first time in her life she decided to stay there: the only place that enables you to travel wherever you wish, without moving.

She mainly writes for children and youth, among which the novels: “Santa in Dreamland”, “The Superwitch, the cat and six magical cookies”, “Stella Dark and the creatures from Scarytown” etc. and numerous picture books (including the popular picture book series “Bibi’s World”).

For her children’s books she won number of awards, including the award “Vanco Nikoleski” for best children’s book in 2020 for the book “Mama Ana’s Goodnight stories”, awarded by the Macedonian Writer’s Association, and White Ravens 2020 for the book “Fairytales from Macedonia for the entire year”.

She has written two novels for adults: “Devet prikazni za gospogjica Sit” (Nine stories about Miss Sith, Čudna šuma, 2019) and “Kukja nad branovite” (House above the Waves, Čudna šuma, 2020), both of them finalists for the most prestigious literary prize in Macedonia – “Novel of the year”, awarded by the Foundation “Slavko Janevski” (2019, 2020).

Currently she lives in Skopje (and Ohrid) with her family and her adorable and very naughty tomcat Max. She writes books and screenplays and owns a small independent publishing house - Strange Forest. She also likes nature, running, mountaineering, reading books and cooking.
