Beyond the Grid #1

Beyond the Grid: An EMP Survival story

Rate this book
Jacob Avery doesn’t miss the city one bit. Years as a homesteader with his loving wife and children has taught him many lessons, but none as valuable as how well-suited he is for a simple, quiet life. Years after saying goodbye to the city, an unfortunate incident takes Jacob and his family on a drive toward the city. As they inch closer, it becomes abundantly clear they’ve made the wrong decision. The dangers he abandoned long ago pale in comparison to what he and his family will soon be forced to face. The apocalypse is coming and there’s nothing anyone could do about it. Jacob has one mission – Do whatever it takes to keep his family safe from harm or suffer the consequences.

Cliffhanger ending.

I quite enjoyed the book. The characters were good and likeable or most of them were and the story itself was fast enough to keep me reading. I detest the fact that the ending was on a cliffhanger. Why can't authors just finish a book with an ending and a choice of whether to go on to the next one?

Poorly Written

This was one of the most poorly written books I have read in years. It seems like it was written by third graders for third graders. I really don’t like to leave bad reviews but others should avoid wasting their time on a book of this low quality.

Good start

One of the better EMP Survivalist stories I've read lately. Jacob is definitely a strong character as is the rest of his family, so I'm hoping good things happen in the rest of the series

Wow! How quickly people reveal their true characters.

So frightening not knowing how to even begin to come to terms with an event like this. How to protect friends and family without turning into monsters. Working together seems the answer, but is it? This story is well written and the characters and p!it's are interesting.

Serial

This 'book' is a serial with a couple of cliffhangers. The only reason it got 3 stars is because it has a good storyline & is reasonably well edited. However it gets zero stars for the cheap shot of having not one but actually two cliffhangers. I'd pass this one by unless you're interested in throwing money at cliffhangers.

Good writing

Nice story, well written but what it does not tell you in the blurb is that it leaves you hanging and you have to buy the next book if you want to finish the story hence 2stars!

I wouldn't have read this if I had known it was just Part One. It really didn't have an ending. And I didn't like it enough to continue with the series. All the characters are kind of "blah" except for the Doctor.

Wow

Well written with a good mixture of characters. The real life of what you expect after any disaster, you get the ones who will work together, those take and those who grab power.

Please stop already.

A full out nuclear exchange is more plausible than this EMP crap.

The grid is built to be able to restart! Will it take a month, possibly. But the world will not end.

And how much of this can this author dump on us.

I like this story

Good characters and plenty of action. This story shows how quickly things can go down hill during an emergency. I'm off to read the next one.

Good, but nothing new

Good, but nothing new here for anyone that has read disaster stories before. It might be a good read for a "newbe".

Think your safe

Plan and plan all is great . Then life shows you can't plan for everything. The author did a great job putting in twists that you don't see coming.

This book was decent but not so well written that I couldn't put it down. I also don't think I'll buy the next book in the series

You have to buy a sequel.

The story does not end here.I like the premise and I even like the characters. I also like stand alone books and this isn't one.

Simplistic family survival story, being shot by an arrow before the EMP seems a bit farfetched. Read kindle book on laptop. purchased this edition on January 13, 2024, from Amazon for free.

Real life

This story is just one of many if this happened. But the story is very true as most would lose their minds and not know how to survive
