Luke returned to his hometown after learning of his grandmother's death. Not much has changed in the town of Chandler Oklahoma since his departure to college ten years ago. While home, he is asked to assist in a murder investigation where he will put his medical examiner training and some some new found skills to the test. The clock is ticking and the murderer must be found. He pieces together the circumstances of the murder with the help of an unlikely source, the victim.
This is a cracking story! Set in small town America our hero, Luke, returns home to attend his grandmother's funeral. A trained medical examiner, he becomes involved in solving the murder of a family friend. Not only this, he discovers that, like most of the rest of his family, he has special gifts which include telepathy and clairvoyance. Needless to say, he puts these new-found talents to good use. The characterisation is good, the plot is both engaging and intriguing and keeps the reader guessing. I have just one quibble with the book: the punctuation faults, particularly in relation to the dialogue. However, this doesn't get in the way of the story which remains a thoroughly enjoyable read.
A wonderful read. A family of different gifts that they all use to their best advantage. All written with the male as the main character. When he comes home for his grandmother's funeral he is surprised to see her ghost. This is compounded when his mother tells him that they run in the family and that he probably has more than one. This proves to be the case when he is asked to assist the local ME with the autopsy of a young girl. A girl who was a close friend to his cousin. Can he use the gifts to get more information that will lead to the killer? Especially when his cousin and the girl he has just asked out are kidnapped. Wonderful characters that don't treat the gifts as anything special but a normal occurrence in their family. Looking forward to the next one.
Grave Encounters is the story of a medical examiner (Luke) who lives in Boston that gets called home to his small town in Oklahoma for a funeral. While he’s there, his family and the other townsfolk try to coax him into staying. It's not till he returns home for his grandmother’s funeral that he learns about his family’s abilities. Clairvoyance, telepathy, object reading, understanding animals, and communicating with the dead are a few of the things he and his family members can do. Imagine being a medical examiner that can speak to the deceased victims! I really enjoyed this story by brand new author Emily Stone!! Her story was exciting and engaging. I didn’t want to put the book down! The characters are interesting. I liked Luke’s cousin Melanie the best. I look forward to reading more about medical examiner Luke! 4 stars!
The story grabbed my attention right away when Luke discovers his special talents during the funeral of his grandmother. Later, he will have to use his abilities to help in a murder investigation of a young girl. He needs to put all the information together to find the murderer. The story is very entertaining with many twists and turns. If you like supernatural mysteries, you will enjoy this book.
A man come back from college to his home town and family. They talked him into staying and to replace the town coroner when he soon retires, which he agreed to do. His family seemed to have a lot of strange talents , like seeing ghosts and talking to them, and reading peoples minds. He helped solve a murder of a young girl who was pregnant. I enjoyed this book.
Original story idea with a captivating main character called Luke. I greatly enjoyed following Luke on this adventure and was entertained throughout the book. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series and another outer-worldly experience!
I really enjoyed this book. It was a fun read. There are a few errors that would have been corrected with a good editor or proofreader, I still really enjoyed reading this and enjoyed the building of the town and characters.
