This book was intriguing and kept me interested until the end, I'll give it that. So why the 2 star rating?
The author explains it in the very first couple of pages. The transition from captor to something more happens WAY too fast in this book. Clearly the author recognized this which is why she gave the warning to the readers. But instead of doing that, why not expand the book? This story easily had the ability for a 5 star rating if only the beginning was more realistic. I'm sorry, I just don't buy the kidnapped to become a sex slave young woman easily having such a positive, sexual reaction to her captor in the first meeting. I don't buy it! Yes of course it could happen, but it needs time to develop.
The story rivaled something Pepper Winters would write. She tells amazing, realistic dark romance stories some of which have the victim falling in love with her captor. The difference is she takes the victim on a journey long before the feelings start to develop.
When I first started reading this story, I thought perhaps Raven would fall for one of her guards. I could easily the bond between her and some of the guys. Whereas I really never felt the bond between her and Xavier.
There was also no real closure to the story. For the couple there was of course, but for everything else there wasn't.
I am really torn about reviewing this dark(ish) capture romance story. The premise was good: College grad Raven (h) plans on touring pubs with her besties before knuckling down to starting her independent adult life with her Comp Tech degree from MIT but Papa (her slime ball father) has a HUGE debt he owes a not very nice person: Xavier (anti-H) & Xavier agrees to accept Raven as his slave to cancel her father's debt in full. So, before she knows it, Raven is drugged & transported 'somewhere' on the planet by 4 male handlers to Xavier's palatial tropical mansion/compound. In addition to her academic achievements/brilliance, Raven has also ensured she has taken multiple self defense courses (we don't know why), works out intensely, does extreme sports, etc. We're also advised how assertive (sometimes aggressive) she is, won't take anything from anyone, especially the father she hates & loathes. But she soon realizes all her physical prowess & training won't help her in the situation she's sound herself in. All she has left is her mind & attitude. And her attitude I think is what really killed the overall likability of this heroine for me (& I say this realizing this is MY personal feelings), IMO it is one thing to be assertive, defiant, smart-mouthed but you REALLY need to pick your battles & times. She has NO idea WHERE she is, she's told she's now Xavier's slave (in ALL things), he has at least 4 large male handlers & Xavier himself is big & muscular plus she's bound, NOT the time to be physically fighting & cursing out your captors. I would have been more impressed if she'd been observant & plotting (fear I understand but not the combative stance in a HOPELESS situation~~ pointless & potentially dangerous) vs pointless & exhausting physical & verbal defiance. But it was Raven's NON-STOP (through the WHOLE book) internal back & forth emotional tennis game that drove me NUTS: She hates Xavier, wants to fight him tooth & nail but why is her body gagging to be with him, why does she respond carnally to his dominance, his punishment, his threat of punishment . . . . On & on that way. Again, I understand this gorgeous dominant male is demanding complete submission & surrender from a very self-confident assertive educated female, but hundreds of pages of this really, really grated on me. But Xavier, as well as his 4 male slaves weirdly enough I found I did like. Especially Chad who multiple times managed to whisper help & support to a confused Raven as Xavier's dominance & punishments made her increasingly question WHY she was turned on & carnally excited & WHY she seemed to WANT to be submissive to him. But while Raven is plotting to escape, Xavier is watching, intuitive & determined to keep Raven as his slave forever & then things get potentially lethal for everyone . . . . Overall I feel this was a well written book with a well thought out plot & while Raven's character was presented in deep detail, Xavier's was a mysterious & unknown quantity that suited his character as well as well as adding a delicious layer of suspense & tension to the plot. In fact, other than constantly pushing off the promised erotic culmination between Xavier & Raven, & overdoing (again IMO) descriptions of furnishings, artwork, etc (although I did like the locale & site descriptions) I liked almost everything about this story except Raven. So, a well written & plotted story with characters that intrigued me & held my interest & even liking, except for the heroine.

She's MINE: a Captive Romance By: Ellie Masters 4 Stars
What a good page turner! Ellie Masters sure does have a well-rounded ability to write different stories. This one sucked me in from the get go and left me reading as quickly as possible to find out Why? Why would a father give his only daughter to a complete stranger to clear his own debts?
Raven is a young recent MIT graduate with a degree in computers. As her and her friends are getting ready to go on a girls only trip, Raven is stopped by her father. Her life is forever changed that day.
Xavier is hot. He is a dominate who thrives on giving pain. He is a master to many. But the day that Raven becomes his possession, his life would never be the same.
I enjoyed this book a lot. To me though, the big reveal lacked the punch. It’s revealed and then dropped. I felt like there was so much more to the story that we as readers didn’t get. Aside from that, a good book to read!
IDK. I'm trying to read this but...its a mishmash of tropes. It feels as if it doesn't know what it wants to become.
Judgement: DNF @ 80%
I...just couldn't. I just have never... Here's the thing. I get being bold and trying to be fearless...but DAMN. This chick seriously acted as if nothing was going to happen to her and no one was going to do jack shit to her. -She was physically removed from her home by 3-4 huge dudes -she was "sold" by her father -She was HOODED and flown to God knows where -she was stripped naked, etc etc etc
All the while, chick is acting like she's in a fight with her boyfriend or a family member. Meaning she showed no real concern about her circumstances. Defiant is one thing. Knock down, drag out stupid is another. If the author had written something worth reading, the chick would have never reacted that way. No one would.
This was a great read. I wanted to read faster just to see what was gonna happen next. I jumped in blind and I’m so glad I did. The whole book was a great surprise for me. I’m so looking forward to reading more. A must read.
Ellie Masters is guilty of false advertising! She’s Mine—a Captive Romance was lauded as a fun, naughty, stand-alone book. That seems to be the case throughout more than half of the story. Then, in a plot twist so simple and so subtle that it requires a re-read, the link between Evil Xavier and one of the most beloved characters ever brought to readers is hermetically sealed. She’s Mine is one of the most fun novels Ellie Masters has gifted us, to date. The novel’s premise, sex-trafficking, is harsh. The motivations of most of the main characters are dark and evil. From the earliest paragraphs, Xavier is the character to hate. That only lasts until Zane Carson graces the pages. Caught in the tempest is Raven Carson. If ever there were a damsel in distress, in need of immediate intervention by a Super Hero, it is Raven Carson. But not only does Raven not get a Hero, she instead, receives a virtual army of tormentors. Slowly, painfully, we—and Raven-- learn not all is as it seems. We realize she is not suffering Stockholm Syndrome, but many of her tormentors actually have redeeming qualities. One, in particular, worms his way into your heart without you noticing…until the final pages. She’s Mine is essentially a very dark and naughty story. Just as the reader might hear internal questions beginning with “why do I think this scene is so…HOT!?” Completing the paragraph will reveal Raven asking herself the same question! This is definitely the most fun read of the year, and it is only March! She’s Mine is not a book for every reader. The plot line is a series of events that could be triggers for some. Choose your reading materials carefully. Be kind to those whose choices do not reflect your own.

This is a truly unique book. While one aspect deals with human trafficking, there’s a love story. There is also the story of how a woman given to a man to pay off her fathers debt makes a life for herself and works to destroy him. This story is not a cliffhanger but it is not the end of the story! It is also a page turner with the ending of when do I get the next book! Beware it may contain some triggers for some people. Consider your feelings but if subject matter doesn’t bother u, then I highly recommend this book.
Ellie's stories are captivating and this one is not only captivating, but about a captivating captive as well. What a twist on the mind of conflicting ideals. The slave and the Master... The desire to explore this unknown realm of dark depravity while coming to terms with what she thought she knew of herself but is now beyond curious of a self she never knew she had ... But more than that... Drawn by this inexplicable force...
You want to hate him and love him at the same time. But things aren't what they seem and you can be surprised by how wrong you are to make assumptions. Such unusual circumstances to start ... and while he is who he is, he willingly adapts to her without compromising his needs. It's a far more complicated compromise and totally catches them both off guard.
As soon as Forrest's name came up the first time, it immediately peaked my interest - will it be a cross over from Angel Fire? Then his name came up again, and with the mention of Snowden, it all clicked into place.
If you have not read Hearts Insanity, I suggest you do so as well Ashes to New (generally I rec HI before ATN, but in this case, I think Ashes first might work better - what a conundrum). This is certainly a standalone from those, but it would add some background and understanding. Plus, they are really great books! The whole series is in fact!
As for the way this one ended, my head is still trying to wrap around the mixed emotions of the realization of letting go and staying to accept what one truly desires. And surprising when he chooses to meet her request half way... The things you do when you find your one.
I was only slightly disappointed in that I wanted more.
I want more!
This story is far from over...
**The book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.**
Dark my ass!!! This is just plain and simple abuse. The writer is expecting us to believe that the male love interest is a hero, a good guy. Good guys don’t beat and abuse the female love interest. He explains that he’s a sadist. And she is the light to his dark. Something that really threw me was near the end of the story the author added in an FBI agent was part (actually in charge) of the entire operation. He knew and allowed her treatment during her kidnaping, beatings, sexual abuses, degrading and inhuman treatment, confinement in small spaces, and being chained up like a dog. If a federal agency knew that was happening and allowed their own people to do it on the off chance they might catch a criminal. What do you think would happen? Not realistic. Very stupid. And stupid is frustrating!
Raven does not respect her father – refers to him as “Z”. He is a powerful man yet acquires a debt which he uses his daughter Raven to pay off. Master Xavier is more than he seems. Given into the charge of bodyguard / caretakers Raven must adjust to her new reality. She wonders at the loyalty those in the household give to Master Xavier. As a computer specialist she works to escape.
Family revelations, steamy interactions, confusion as to who is good/evil, and an incredible sensual relationship combine to create a highly entertaining and gripping story.
*** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book ***
I've become obsessed with this type of storyline since consuming titles such as CJ Roberts Captive in the Dark,Anna Zaires Twist Me series and Pepper Winters Monsters in the Dark and others.Although there must be similarities given the topic,I found freshness in this tale and was quickly drawn in and addicted. I will add Elle to my Follow list and advise if you are a fan of the author 's mentioned,y'all definitely may want to consider one click!
Another delicious captive story from the master of storytelling. I can't get enough of Ellie's twisty, psychological plots and beautiful poetic words. A must read!
She's Mine is a captivating dark romance. Ellie certainly knows how to take me on a ride filled with twists, turns and so many secrets. Get ready to be held captive by Xavier and Raven in this twisted tale. ~~Michele McMullen~~
Holy Wow!! This is a dark read, but I literally stayed up all night reading it! Xavier and Raven make a good match. Both of them strong willed and intelligent and unknowingly searching for each other. I also adored the side characters. You can't not fall for them! Grab this book and read it, devour it, live it...just do it!!

Given away for a debt,Raven is taken to Xavier as a slave. She is his and the faster she accepts that the easier everything would be or would it?
Nothing is at it seems, although she is given tidbits and not really punished as one who is owned, she doesn't get it. Secrets, smuggling, love and lies all unfold in this book. It would have been interesting to see a bit of the past of Raven for the skills she has learned etc and why, I would have expected non of these things to be given her by her father due to his eventual treatment of her. For someone who thinks of her as disposable it did not jive with his giving her so much freedom or chance to learn that much.
For a few instances in the book i felt like the chemistry between Raven and Xavier was lacking and i could easily have seen her with one of her guards instead. However it was interesting that nothing seen was as it truly is and we get the eventual capitulating of our girl to the dark man who has taken her.

Sorry but this story is not really well construct and the characters are not making a lot of sens. Also on this s type of story you hope for steamy scene and there is none whatsoever.

I enjoyed this book, kind of, in the beginning at least. However, they were some glaring problems with the story that made this book far from good.
1) This might be minor, but supposedly Raven’s father always planned for Raven to be a slave. If that was true, why did she go to expensive boarding schools and a college at MIT? She also had all the freedom she wanted and was allowed to date anyone she wanted. If she was going to be sold as a slave, wouldn’t he just lock her in her bedroom, break her spirit, and keep her a virgin? Not to give away any spoilers, but he still could have gotten her to sign what he wanted her too.
2) For supposedly being so smart, Raven was so dang dumb! I hate it when authors do this! She supposed to be this MIT computer genius, yet she can’t put 2+2 together. Through the conversations, hints, and situations she was part of, she should’ve figured out far more then she did. She was clueless. Plus, her entire attitude about her situation was off. It was not that of a smart woman. Not at all. I don’t think she could actually tie her shoe laces let alone hack into a computer.
3) Xavier was an oxymoron. Period. He was a slave owner and believed in owning slaves. He basically did everything except rape. He believed in beating and breaking his slaves to his will. At times, he claimed it’s what they actually wanted and it was for them to realize what they really needed. Right. At other times, he claimed it was because he liked to inflict pain and it turned him on. No more reason than that. Yet, he spends his life devising complicated schemes trying to rescue slaves from other people who are worse than him, ie rapists. Really? I had a feeling the author couldn’t decide how she wanted to portray this character. She wanted him to be an evil monster, yet also wanted him to be one of the “good guys”. This can be achieved but it’s a delicate balance. It didn’t work here and it wasn’t believable.
Also, there was no reason he did not disclose more to Raven. Everyone gave her subtle hints that she couldn’t understand. They all knew that, yet they refused to fill her in. This would’ve made her far more cooperative. It was just a stupid element to keep the story going, but it actually stagnated the story in my opinion.
Oh my! Once again Ellie Masters proves her stories are so captivating, so well written. I can never get enough of her words.
She's Mine was a perfectly written dark, twisted story that I devoured. So many twists and turns, plus return of past characters that I've loved so much in the past, (Forest). I absolutely adore him!!
She's Mine is a slave and the Master story. But there was so much more in Xavier and Raven's story. Twists and turns, and secrets.
Xavier and Raven make a PERFECT couple! They both are incredible smart, and very strong willed. I ADORED then both. I can't express how much I LOVED the storyline and the characters. A definite must read!
*I voluntarily read an arc. This is my honest review.*
I absolutely love love love this book! A fast paced, full of intrigue, mystery and that touch of darkness, Ohhh My!! Raven’s life is about turn upside down and inside out. What she thinks she knows is nowhere near the truth, and what she feels will scare her beyond words. Initials become hated names, and one will make her question even herself. I was so happy to see Forest in this story, I had wondered what he and Skye were up to! The inclusion of them here leads me to believe I have more enjoyable reading ahead!! Wonderful characters that have incredible stories to tell, Can’t wait to see what is next for this amazing group!

What amazing dark twisted read that will have you hooked to every word throughout this book. This is a must read book that will grab you and what more of this story.
5 stars for the eloquence; 1 star for THE DISAPPOINTMENT I FEEL
I saw the cover. I was drawn. I got it on sale so I thought to myself “score” and had high expectations. Reading the first few pages showed me how articulate and talented this new author to me is. I was excited and couldn’t wait to get to the good parts (whenever that would be).
But man was I DISAPPOINTED!!!! I consider myself to be pretty generous when I rate my books. I think about the time, effort, and dedication it takes to write a book. Sometimes, there’s a scene or event that happens in a book that bothers me to the core and I only drop it a star, but there are so many elements that make a book a 5 star for me and usually having strong, romantic intimate scenes makes me even overlook grammar imperfections. Let me get to the plot before I give my (probably?) spoilers as to why I felt let down, sad and disappointed.
Raven graduated from MIT (👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻to being intelligent- I was loving this book at this point) and gets told by her dad that she is being sold to someone in order to settle the debt he owed him. She gets thrusted into this man’s world, with a hood, binds, and bodyguards that are always in place. When she reaches her destination, she meets the eyes of her captor, Xavier, who ignites a flame in her she didn’t know needed to be lit. She is to be accompanied at all times and flanked by men who don’t even give her privacy enough to close the door when she showers or uses the restroom because she is now Xavier’s slave, and slaves don’t get that luxury anymore. Even though there are a lot of new harsh realities in her new life, there are some sweet elements as well (what a contradiction, I know, but it’s really because not everything is what it seems). The men that guard her aren’t malicious or horrible- in fact, they take quite a beating when she constantly fights back (yaaass Raven- don’t go down without a fight 😉). But whenever she’s in the presence of her Master, she needs to submit and follow rules, or there will be punishments. Even so, she expected to be raped or shared, and none of that happens, because Xavier wants her to be willing to do it all with him. She also has skills in technology that can be very useful.
While Raven struggles to embrace this part of her new life, there are things going on in the background that are bigger than her inner turmoil of wanting to submit and actually following through with being Xavier’s slave/submissive. It all relates to the trafficking of people.
The attraction and pull between Raven and Xavier is explosive- its visceral, raw, and especially hooooot... but... BUUUUUT... we don’t SEE it play out like it should!! Here come my spoilers...
***SPOILERS*** we NEVER see them have sex/be intimate!?!?!? ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!! It took me HOURS to read this book, hours away from my family, catching up on shows, responsibilities, or what have you, and the book ends so ABRUPTLY!! She finally decides to submit to him, they even compromise on their slave/master versus Raven/Xavier relationships and then the book ends and we are left with a EPILOGUE where they are scuba diving?!?! I could NOT believe that THAT was it!! We got a few kisses in the book, a LOT of tension and buildup that led to nowhere, and then, at the end, when she’s tied and submitting to him and he’s taking charge, it ends. What the actual F?!? I felt frustrated myself!! As I was winding down the pages reading and I was seeing how much was left, I kept wondering about their intimacy scenes- I expected so much- he had been so understanding and, at times, sweet, that I thought that the rest of the book would solidify their physical connection... but NOOO, it never came (haha pun intended- but this time, the joke is on me). I grew angry and irritated with each swipe of the page. Then we get a list of books we could read to see what ends up happening to the human trafficking ring they’ve uncovered. Uh huh... if the other books are laid out anything like this, then never mind***END SPOILERS ***
I started off this book so drawn and excited to the writing style of this author, and I was getting ready to follow her on all the platforms I normally follow authors on (GG, BB, AZ) but I’m glad I didn’t. Maybe one day I’ll read another one of her books. She writes incredibly well and is very descriptive, which I love. But I need intimacy to be developed, and I’m not a fan of fade-to-black unless it’s a YA book (which I understand). But this isn’t one... so I expected more.
So sad to give it 3 starts when maybe an extra 10/20 pages showing their physical connection would’ve made it a 5 star.
Suspense And Edge Of Your Seat Action Combine With Amazing Chemistry In This Dark Read! Great But Raven's Indecisiveness Becomes Tiresome.
Raven Carson, twenty-one and the rich socialite daughter of Zane Carson, vows to be free. She hates her father because she craves the love he denies her. For eight years now, he has spent very little time with her. If she doesn't need his money, his rules no longer apply. Hence her newly earned computer science degree from MIT is her ticket to freedom. Once she returns from her celebratory pub crawl across Europe with her girlfriends, she can choose to get a job and support herself, starting a new and independent life.
Stealing home after graduation just to grab her backpack, Raven expects to find an empty home. Instead she finds her sociopathic father and two very large men to whom he hands her over with very little fanfare. He explains that her mother had been a slave and it is her destiny, too. The time had come to send her to her new owner. Drugged, restrained, and hooded, Raven is transported to what appears to be a tropical island and presented to her mysterious master.
Master Xavier, early thirties, isn't what Raven expects in her new owner. His custom suit and good looks are one thing, but he sears Raven with his captivating blue eyes which intensify as they hold her in a staring contest. A magnetic pull soon calms her, synching her breath with his and leaving her in a trance. While she believes she sees a hint of compassion in him, that idea is put to rest when he names her 'slave.' His superb self-control makes him dangerous, yet his staff of slaves is devoted and think highly of him.
Xavier and Raven are caught up in an intense attraction for one another from their first meeting. Raven ignites Xavier's dark side, pushing him to lose control as a result of her smart mouth and disobedience. She resists submission. But the lust she sees in Xavier's eyes arouses her, much to her dismay. She knows her master's will will prevail, but she struggles with letting go. Oddly, he claims not to be the monster she believes him to be, and insists that despite his difficulty containing his desire for her, he will not take her until she wants him to. He sees his desire mirrored in her own, and tells her it will happen once she admits to her craving for submission. Xavier and Raven earn a simple HFN, but the storyline appears to carry on in the next book of the series and hopefully more is learned about them.
Suspense and edge of your seat action combine with amazing chemistry in this dark read. It is nicely written but ambitious, and could be tightened up in a few spots. In particular, Raven's indecisiveness begins to sound whiney and becomes tiresome. This book is the first in the Captive Hearts series. It is written entreley in Raven's POV. The plot is complex and well-developed. The suspense is maintained as the plot slowly unfolds. The characters are well-defined and likeable, to include several of the supporting characters. I rate this book four stars.
Completely enthralling! Another nugget in the Summer and Forest saga. Yet, this novel introduced us to more players in the horrific slave game that Summer and Forrest rose from, and rose well. Yet, this novel is Xavier's novel, and Raven's story with Xavier. I remember Xavier briefly mentioned in other novels Jet Master's better half, Elle wrote beginning with Summer and Forest's story since their," placement in the house of horrors as children). (Couldn't resist, Elle.)! But again, this is Xavier and Raven's story, and it truly was fut wrenching. Mr. Masters, you began as you intended to finish them writing the book, with me on complete tenterhooks. Even as we begin to see some humanity, I honestly was sucked into Xavier's character and who I thought he was... meanwhile, poor Raven, twenty-one and newly graduated from MIT, about to slip away with her friends to Europe for the summer... While Raven's father never seemed to truly care for her, she survived, until she is about to slip out the front door. He father awaits, calls her ugly names and hands her over to two men, stating bet paid. Now, you already had me twisted, Jet Master's, but from here in our I was wishing death on her father, her knew captors (Raven got her licks in 👿, yes.) but I was still focusing on the fact her useless sperm donor was obviously a piece of @#*%! Little do we know ... Hours later Raven wakens and is taken to meet her master...bound to a chair she refuses to give in, even her first "punishment", and punishment it absolutely is, Raven is still made as all get out, and isn't even allowed into bathroom alone. Mr. Masters, wow, excellent novel, why did I stop, one it's your novel, I want people to read, two, there is so much going on I would end up ruining. The writing was incredible! I felt Raven's hatred, angst, shock, disgust, etc. So many emotions from Raven and I felt like I was the one experiencing them. Truly descriptive, so much so I was Raven. I cheered for this heroine, literally out loud, cussed with her, felt her loss of self, and he decisions to overcome and destroy! Your hints were subtle not was all as it seemed! But the things Raven saw, even though she was somewhat hidden, certainly affected her. She became stronger internally. I was frankly blown away! Elle your other half rocks as a writer, you're still my favorite!can't change teams in the middle of the game, but you compliment each other. I want to be in that meeting with Raven's father and John Snowden! Please, please tell me there is a book following!
Excellent! Worthy of Elle Masters Guardian Series! Mr. Masters, Guardian series or not, your writing is stellar, I cannot wait for more!
This Captive Slave Story Kept Me Totally Captivated!
I’m quickly becoming a fan of Ellie Masters. She dives into dark romance with no holds barred. She delivers suspenseful and intense stories with a dramatic flare that take me to forbidden places which allow my secret guilty pleasures to get their fix. Her stories captivate and ignite a side of me that I didn’t know existed. She lets me escape into worlds I would never have the courage to venture into on my own.
She’s Mine is a captive slave story, which is full of intriguing twists to keep the reader guessing, wondering, and questioning who is slave to whom. I was captivated from the start, had visions of where I saw this story progressing, and then saw those visions go up in smoke as the author had other plans for Raven.
Raven is a strong female character and she is not easily manipulated or forced into a life she does not choose. She is steadfast in her will and fights her traitorous body until the end. Master Xavier seems to have met his match with his new possession. He has a commanding persona and had me caught in his web of obedience. This character stayed in my head long after the story was done.
This book moves along at a break-neck pace and kind of had my head spinning at times. The secrets that are slowly revealed left me questioning many things. All seems to be revealed in the end, leaving no stone unturned, but it did leave me feeling a bit of a void. Xavier and Raven have a love for each other that completes the other, and we spend most of the book watching them discover that need. The ending was just too quick for me. I wanted and NEEDED time to bask in their love for each other, to experience the magic of them together. So much time and energy was spent building up the heat and passion between these two. I feel like the author skipped over the most important scene in the book, the one everyone was waiting for. In this, I feel somewhat cheated.
The story has left me hoping there will be more to come in this world as I enjoyed many of the side characters and want to hear their stories. I’d also love to see She’s Mine go full-circle, to see vengeance won. I could definitely withstand a little more of Master and Raven.
have to say for a dark romance. It has everything you would expect in one. There's BDSM lifestyle, Their evil men in this story that abduct woman and men and sell them to the highest bidder. Their the hero that look like the bad men but have to go along with the evil men so they can stop them. Just a action packed dark romance with no dull parts at all..
Blurb about story:
Raven can defend herself she was taught by the best, She's gone skydiving, diving, and She has also got a degree in MIT, she can code really well. Her father is evil doesn't care about her and lies about what her mother was right to her face. Her father sells her to clear his own debits. She gets imprisioned by the men that her master has sent to get her. She gives as well as she gets given, she fights and she actually hurts a few. They drug her so she can't hurt them or herself. She meets the Master that she is suppose to submit fully to. Master Xavier sees something in her and he is taken with her. He wants to control her fully and take her. She fights it and gets locked up for it. She wants to deny the whippings (punishing) and just his dark presents just makes her feel so aroused and she doesn't want that cause she knows she's his slave and just doesn't feel its right how she feels. But she starts to warm up to Master Xavier and the other men Ben, Chad, Bay and Mel. They are their to protect her.
The only downside to this book that was disappointing was all the lead up with the two lead characters and all the chemistry they both fight cause Mast Xavier won't have sex with her until she submits and begs for it, you wait a lot of pages into the story and you really don't get any sex from them. They do have BDSM scenes where she gets chained up and messed around with but no actual sex, but besides that it's a pretty good story. Does leave you hanging what happen to Master and his slave if they stay together for good or something happens, they never say what happens with her father and if they shut down his nasty slave trade. I wish the author would continue with the storyline cause it is on a cliffhanger seriously.
Raven had it all: an only child with a privileged upbringing, a degree from MIT in Computer Sciences, and a summer of debauchery awaiting; that is, until her father gave her to another man to settle his debts…. “I was a fighter. I was the wild child. I was the kid who sought adventure, the daredevil who jumped out of planes, dove under the ocean, and explored beneath hundreds of feet of rock in the darkest recesses of the earth.” - Raven Stunned, frightened, overwhelmed, Raven quickly finds herself whisked away from all she has known… hooded, bound and drugged, Raven finds herself somewhere else, at the mercy of a man she only knows as Xavier… a man that sets her soul on fire, and makes her body quiver. But Raven is nothing if not determined; she WILL find a way to escape and wreak havoc on her father for what he has done to her; making her a slave. A SLAVE! “You have been a very bad girl.” – Xavier Xavier is a rigid, determined man, whose dark desires frighten Raven, but she can’t deny how her body reacts when Xavier is near. She desires him, and aches to be taken; used. But Xavier has promised her, she would have to ask for the beautiful agony only he could bestow….
“I curled in on myself, sobbed, and examined the ruin of my thoughts. I’d lost the battle, only it wasn’t the one that I thought I had been fighting, and I couldn’t deny an inescapable truth. I wanted Xavier.” – Raven
Oh, my stars and garters! What a read! Absolutely RIVETING! I was torn between devouring it whole and reading it slowly, to add to my enjoyment of another Ellie Masters masterpiece! Amazingly complex characters, plot threads that twist and intermingle, the sense of the characters battling not only each other, but their own demands and desires! This is one HOT book!
On one hand I despised Master Xavier and what he was forcing on Raven! I loved how no matter what Raven endured she retained her strength and intelligence. She sought out escape and created a hidden s.o.s.. I hated, hated Z and everything he represented! I hated that these men felt like their pleasures overruled common decency, human kindness, freedom and choice of other human beings! Once the plot was revealed (way to late imo) I understood where Xavier was coming from and I even understood why Raven had to not be told to sell the master/slave aspect. However once everything is revealed I didn't feel Xaviers character was truly redeemed from his actions. One sentence of how sorry he was at how they meet and how he abused her in front of others especially her wicked monster of a father did NOT redeem said cruelty! And the flow just wasn't there, one minute were m/s the next I'm setting you free it's your choice. What, I mean WTF?!! There is no real conclusion to this "romantic drama" except the acceptance of Raven as Xaviers slave. Don't even get me started on that topic, I am NOT now nor will I ever enjoy reading M/S or sadism roles only. Picture Christian Grey X100. IMO no redeeming qualities of Master Xavier for me to continue with this story. I get Raven didn't understand what was happening and I understand her confusion and willingness to continue to fight and look for an escape. What I didn't understand was how she just boom accepts her situation and embraced it. 1.5 stars For side characters being interesting and the plot sounded good just wasn't executed well! Again only my opinion! Free with k.u
I'm surprised by the reviews on this book. I have so many issues with this book that I don't even know where to start honestly. First of all, does this author know what a BDSM relationship is? You don't just beat someone and demand their trust...laughable at best. The book kept saying he had all the power, no this kind of relationship is a power exchange. Yes, it's a book and it's fiction but come on, try to make it at least sound somewhat believable. And I hated Xavier, there was nothing even remotely likable about this guy. I kept hoping something would happen to make him even remotely decent but no. Then was just hoping Raven would stab him and leave the island. She was weak and pathetic. Then the one sex scene just had me rolling my eyes as there was no chemistry to be had and it was difficult to read. I think I may have laughed out loud a time or two. Maybe if there was a little more character development it may have helped but we didn't get that either, the author was just too focused on beating his h into submission and making us try to believe she would just happen to like it.
