What happens when my brother’s best friend wins a date with me? Guess I’m about to find out.
Holly The whole mess started with a fundraiser. You know, those date auctions? It was for a good cause. I swear. But then Nate Fox won the date with me. Nate who drives me insane.
He’s my brother’s best friend, and oh-so-inconveniently handsome as h*ll. He also spent some serious cash for that date. With me.
It’s a disaster in the making, and I’ll do whatever I must to avoid it. Small problem though. Nate’s insisting I make good on it. A date with him is bad enough. Even worse, I want him. Fiercely.
Nate The moment I look up and see Holly Blake walk out on that stage, I’m determined to make my longest running fantasy come true.
I’ll have my second chance with Holly. Even if I have to pay for it. She’s smart, sassy, and so d*mn gorgeous.
Then, I find out she has a secret. A secret that only makes me want her even more.
*This is a full-length, standalone romance with a guaranteed HEA.
USA Today Bestselling Author J. H. Croix lives in a small town in the historical farmlands of Maine with her husband and two spoiled dogs. Croix writes steamy contemporary romance with strong independent women and rugged alpha men who aren't afraid to show some emotion. Her love for quirky small-towns and the characters that inhabit them shines through in her writing. Take a walk on the wild side of romance with her bestselling novels!
The backdrop for Burn For You is a small town in Alaska, which I really enjoyed. Holly and Nate have known each other forever. They grew up together, their friends and family are all intermingled and they see each other all the time. This all contributes to the difficulties that these two face when they start to consider moving from the friend zone, to something more. Neither of them want to make things awkward for either themselves or their friends, but then there is the inconvenient matter of the electricity zipping between the two of them that neither can ignore any longer.
Plus, there is Nate’s reputation. He is not known for his commitment skills. ‘King of Casual’, ‘Mr Casual’ and ‘casual is your middle name’ are just a few of the many comments others make to him (the word ‘casual’ gets a good workout in this book). So, Holly is a bit reluctant. She makes it very clear that she is looking for anything but casual, so she is understandably nervous to get involved with Nate. But then there are more of those pesky jolts of electricity between them, and I’m sure you can work out what happens next.
I really liked Holly’s character. She is strong, sassy and successful in her chosen career. She’s struggling with Nate’s reputation though, as she doesn’t want to just be another fling for him. As for Nate, he’s a bit of a sweetheart. He’s a little confused and not sure he knows the best way to proceed, but he knows he wants Holly and he’s a bit over hearing the word ‘casual’. I enjoyed the progression of their relationship. This is not a particularly long book, but the pacing is great. Nothing about it is rushed. And whereas I find some stories that are focussed on the confusion of the relationship can get a bit annoying, I didn’t find that with Burn for You at all.
I did notice one thing that I wasn’t a big fan of though. Are you like me and like to have a look at the front cover to see what they look like? If so, you might be a bit confused in this case, as I was. Nate is described as 6’4″ with ‘shabby brown curls’, but the male cover model is only a little taller than the woman (perhaps Holly is 6’2″ herself?) with what appears to be short hair. And he’s also got significant tattoos, but that is never mentioned in the book. Not the end of the world that Nate doesn’t really match the description, but I’m a big fan of book covers so it definitely caught my attention.
I found Burn For You to be a really easy read, and not being too long, I read it in only two sessions. And there are sparks flying left, right and centre between these two, so for those of you like plenty of spice in your romance, you will love Burn for You.
Thank you to Girls Night In Bookclub and J.H. Croix for sharing a copy of this ebook with me.
Whoo boy, what a hot, hot story! Nate sees his chance with Holly when she participates in a charity auction, but Holly isn't interested in the type of casual dating that Nate is known for. She's been all but ignored by the entire single male population of her hometown after her high school boyfriend was killed in a car accident, and while she's ready now to make up for lost time, she's going to be very careful about risking her heart. Nate finds that his time with Holly imprints on his heart far more than he expected, but he's got an uphill battle to convince Holly that he's the man for her.
This story has all the steam we expect from this author, along with all the emotional depth and vivid characterizations that the author is known for. This is another excellent book in one of my favorite series and I highly recommend it. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
We journey back to Willow Brook Alaska to fall in love again. This is the best series, each book is a standalone but the stories continue with each following book. The characters are all friends or family and joined together in this small town and you can feel the love they all share for one another. This author describes the picturess town so that you will feel as though you are there. This is Holly and Nate's story.
Holly Blake was dealt a bad hand in life as a teenager. She was in a car of friends where her boyfriend was killed and her best friend suffered severe burns. She survived and went on to become a nurse and was blessed with lots of friends but love never seemed to find her and so she was still toting her Vcard around. Not that she was saving it but for reasons out of her control she just never lost it.
Nate Fox, hot pilot extraordinaire and brother to Caleb who is one of the Hot Shot firemen in Willow Brook has been the forever bachelor, enjoying the company of the ladies. We have followed Nate through several books and I have always wanted him to find his true love. Well he decides Holly is it. They have danced around their feelings for a year and both about ignited over a kiss that happened back then but now Nate is taking things into his own hands and getting the girl even if he has to pay for her.
What do you get when you have a auction for charity and the items to auction are dates. You got it, Nate buys a date with Holly and the fun begins.
This is the best story with lots of emotion and feel goods as well as past hurts that have to be dealt with. It's friends to lovers with a side of best friends sister and all the emotions that come with that. Oh and just to make it even more interesting our heroin is still a virgin and our hero is a non-committal playboy. I love how this small town has brought us so many friends and we get to catch up with them as well and the heat from these two will melt your e-reader. I received an early copy to read and review. I loved it! Highly recommend it! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
A well written romance with a nice storyline and plot. The characters are likeable and have a nice chemistry. They are well described and develops nicely through the story. I liked the story because it felt so real. It could have taken place anywhere. The writing style and use of words kept me on the edge and turning pages just to know more. Both have a crush on each other but can they act on it. He buys a date with her at an Auction and from there things happens fast. A friends to lovers romance that is about going for what you want and taking chances. You may get what you have dreamed of. I cannot get enough of these men and this series of stories. Keep them coming.
So, I love J.H. Croix, but this is another book in this series in which pretty much nothing happens. Yes, there is the basic storyline of girl + brother's best friend and all the internal dialog of "will this work out?", but I don't feel that alone makes a story.
Nate and Holly have off-the-charts chemistry. Their banter and sparks are fun to read. And their group of friends are a nice addition to the story.
I'm just not sure why there is no other plot in this book. Nothing else happens except this back and forth in each of the lead characters' minds about wether they should be together. There is a lot of really steamy scenes, I just wish there was more happening in this book.
Burn For You by J.H. Croix is a steamy addition to her Into the Fire series. This book is a stand-alone novel that brings us the steamy romance between Holly and Nate. After a heated kiss that almost leads to more Holly and Nate have just about avoided each other. Nate is known for being casual with the ladies and not looking for anything serious relationship wise. He’s not a complete cade but he has a reputation for having his fun and then moving on to the next. All of that is about to change when he sees a prime opportunity to live out his fantasies with Holly. Now, if only they can avoid the usual pitfalls of a potential budding romance… Burn For You is steamy from beginning to end. Holly is a nurse at the local hospital and she’s had a thing for her brother’s best friend Nate. Everything kicks off with an auction around Halloween with Holly sporting a sexy nurse’s costume. Nate wants a shot with her and he spends big bucks to make it happen. Holly is wanting to settle down and have a family, but that’s not so easy when you live in a town where everyone knows you. I like how dedicated to her job Holly is and how strong her friendships are with her friends. She keeps things private when she needs to and is pretty good with finding the right one to talk to concerning certain topics. Nate is smart, sexy, and oh-so-hard to resist. The author gives us steamy and lots of it when things jump off between Holly and Nate. Get ready because you don’t have to wait long. I enjoy this book, but there are times when I feel that the author is describing an anime character more than an actual woman. There are moments of where I wish that there was more drama between the characters, of an outside source, but I appreciate that things aren’t all smooth sailing between them. I just wish that Holly had given Nate an opportunity to explain himself in certain situations. All in all, I am rating this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. This a steamy romance novel that blends in familiar characters from previous books in this series. The author gives us a happily ever after with these characters and gives us a taste of their life after they get straight. I enjoy the ending and how everything comes together. Definitely a must-read for those who have enjoyed reading books by this author and the familiar characters that show up in this book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Willow Brook was Holly Blake’s hometown, and she loved it there in Alaska. But everyone has known you since pre-school or even as a baby, so finding a date isn’t simple. Holly was one of the head Emergency Department nurses at Willow Brook Hospital, which is how she got involved in the sticky situation she was now in. A hospital fundraiser in Anchorage needed nurses to auction themselves for a date for charity. Figuring no one would know her, being an hour away from Willow Brook, she agreed to do it. With a Halloween theme in mind, they gave her a tight, revealing nurse costume that a real nurse would never wear! It made her feel like a stripper!
Out on stage, she could not see the audience because of the bright lights. But the auction brought in $5,000 for the date with her! She was led to a room backstage to meet the winner. Her jaw dropped open when Nate Fox walked in! Nate was Holly’s twin brother’s best friend and the younger brother of her best friend’s husband. He was also the guy she had crushed on for years! When he saw her come out on the stage, he would not allow another guy to buy a date with her! The bright red high heels and the tiny little skirt that barely hid anything were driving him crazy! She told him he had ruined her chances to meet somebody. He pulled her close and told her she didn’t need to meet anybody because she wanted him and he wanted her; now they needed to do something about it. Her third tequila gave her enough courage to argue with him, so he kissed her as she moaned.
When another volunteer knocked and came in, Holly tried to get out of the date. But just because she grew up with Nate did not invalidate his win. She finally agreed to date him, but he told her it would be real. He wanted dinner and a hotel.
I loved this well-written story! Two people trying to desperately hide their real feelings while their chemistry soars off the pages! It was a fun storyline seeing how Nate breaks down Holly’s stubborn resistance. The strong characters were good together, and that small-town charm really worked well for them. Don’t miss this fun romance! Grab your copy and join them for a night in Willow Brook!
As a nurse, Holly has a fulfilling job and wonderful friendships to keep her grounded, but Holly is ready to find her happily-ever-after and she's not going to let a little thing like her virginity gets in the way. It's time to take care of that pesky problem so she can get on with the rest of her life. Now to find the guy who won't run screaming in the opposite direction when he finds out. Not to worry when her brother's best friend is the perfect guy for the job. Never one to settle down, Nate just needs to give her one night and then they'll go back to being just friends. One little problem, what happens when Nate doesn't just want Holly for the night?
Nate is all about being a pilot and finding fun, flirty women for the night. The freedom that both bring was all he thought he could want since the one that got away a long time ago seems to completely be out of his grasp. Only she's not far out of reach anymore when she propositions him to a night that wasn't meant to change anything aside from Holly's virginity status. Except now, friendship and love are on the line and Nate has one last chance to show Holly that he's the one to give her the happily-ever-after they've both been looking for.
A great story set in a charming town in Alaska. There's a group of friends with each of their own stories and since I just jumped into the middle of a series already in progress, you can too. This just makes me want to go back and read the others. Holly and Nate are great characters separately and together are explosive, so reading about them was easy and fun. The only defect in the story was in the details - often found to be repetitive and in some cases useless. Other than that, I would absolutely read this story again and already picked out a few others by this author to enjoy.
Holly Blake is one of the head nurses for the emergency department for Willow Brook Hospital. Holly has had a tough time dating since her high school boyfriend, Jake, was killed in an auto accident when they were in school. Holly grieved for Jake, but she and Jake were more friends who were thrown together because their best friends were dating. Holly agrees to a Halloween fundraiser where she will be auctioned off as a date to the highest bidder. Nate Fox is a playboy pilot who owns his own business and is best friends with Holly's brother. When Nate sees Holly come out in a skimpy yet sexy nurses costume, he knows he has to act of his feelings for Holly and win the date with her. Holly is shocked to find out Nate is the highest bidder and that he paid $5000 for the date. Holly tries to get out of the date because she doesn't think Nate wants more than a casual fling. Nate challenges Holly to quit running from their chemistry. When Nate learns Holly's secret, will Nate what Holly more, or will he run in the opposite direction? Can Nate prove to Holly he wants more than a casual fling with her? Can Holly trust Nate's feelings for her, or will Holly's feelings for Nate make her cut and run? I LOVED Burned for You by J.H. Croix. Burned For You is a MUST read, and J.H. Croix is a MUST read author. Loved the banter and sexual chemistry between Nate and Holly. Enjoyed seeing characters from the other books in the series offering advice and support to Holly and Nate. I would highly recommend getting Burn For You. I received an ARC of this book, and I am leaving my honest review.
Let me just get this out of the way. I FREAKING LOVE this series!!! Burn for you is the 9th book in Ms. Croix’s Into the Fire series. And let me say this: It just keeps getting better and better. The heroes and heroines are always kick butt but true. And the scenery, OMG, I want to go to Alaska!!! Burn for You in not about a firefighter (sorry ladies) this time. The hero in this story is about the HOOOOTTTT pilot that flies the firefighters in and out of the fires!!!! The heroine is also kicka…butt, she is one of the head nurses in the emergency ward of the Willow Brook Hospital. I FLOVED Holly and Nate’s story. Holly has always had a thing for Nate, but Nate is Holly’s brother’s best friend, so he is technically off limits. Or, he should be, but Holly still want him. Eek, life is so complicated. What Holly does not know, Nate has also had a thing for Holly since high school, but alas, she is his best friends’ little sister, so, she is off limits. But there was that time in the closet…. Oops, sorry ladies, I cannot give anything away… You will need to read the book to find out what happens. I have been a fan of Ms. Croix writing for a few years not. She has never failed to “get the heck away from me while I finish reading this book” capture and keep my attention. And let me tell you this, her books are hot, with a capital HOT!!! Thank you for reading my review. Yes, go hit the buy button at your favorite retailer, I did. You will not be disappointed.
Yeeessssss Holly and Mate get their story!!! Trying to get a date in a small town doesn't work very well especially when they all know your past. Holly lost her boyfriend to a tragic accident in high school and everyone gives her a wide berth. Little do they know that Holly and Jake were more friends than anything thrown together due to their best friends darting. Now years later with no love life to speak of Holly volunteers to auction a date off at a Halloween fundraiser. Hoping to meet someone different her plan is wrecked when she learns her brothers best friend Nate Fox paid a very high price for a date with her. Nate and Holly spent last Halloween getting frisky in a closet and neither can still thinking about the other. While Holly delays the date Nate keeps pursuing while trying to keep himself in check. When Nate learns Holly's secrete their chemistry goes from explosive to nuclear. Can Mr. No Commitment change his ways for the right woman?? An absolutely must read!!! This may be book nine in the series but it's as fresh, lively and sinfully sexy as book one. The characters fit together, the images given in the story are vivid and you get to watch the characters grow. A great addition to any library. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
It’s a bad start when in the first few chapters, Holly has repeated herself concerning her friends all being married, and her still being alone, Nate being a player, and how she’s had a crush on him, I mean I got it the first time it was mentioned, and just a chapter or two later you want to say the same thing AGAIN. Why!? Author, please read your own chapters so you can move the story along instead of just saying the exact same thing when nothing interesting has happened since the last time you wrote the same exact thing.
As the book continued I just skimmed it. It’s that boring and there’s no actual story. It can be summed up like this, Holly lusting for Nate. Holly blurting out something that embarrasses herself. Holly avoiding Nate. Holly and Nate have sex. And repeat. There’s no actual development between the two characters, it’s all superficial based on their friends and their past. It’s pretty much just sex. But suddenly they’re in love and then it’s the epilogue and they’re married.
How this has so many positive reviews I don’t know. But if you want an actual story this isn’t it.
I’m hesitant to read another by this author but I’ll give it another chance before I put this author in a do not read ever zone, I do have a box set of books I got for free after all.
ONE DELICIOUS READ!!! OMG! Talk about hard decisions. A rollercoaster ride of emotions and events that really tugs those heartstrings and leaves you wanting more. This is one little jewel that's written with such sincerity you feel all the gut wretching, uncertainty that really kicks this little gem up a few notches on the hot charts. This is one exciting, action packed, heart pounding, pulse racing, page turning bombshell that hits the ground running. All the twists , ups and downs, along with a few glitches here and there make for one exciting adventure. Throw in all the drama and suspense and you have one intense, electrifying tale that captures your attention from start to finish. The characters and their personalities are so realistic and believable it feels like you can just reach out and touch them. The scenes are so graphically detailed it really pulls this bad boy together beautifully. You have no trouble picturing every scenario as it plays out perfectly. Croix did an incredible job bringing this read to life flawlessly. Fantastic job Croix, thanks for sharing this awesome read with us.
Oh my this Into the Fire series is the best series I have ever read. Each story is unique but amazing and this one is no exception. Nate is a pilot and has been best friend’s with Alex, Holly’s twin brother, so the two of them have been friends for a long time. When one night at a Halloween party has them hot and bothered, neither of them can’t stop thinking more about the other. When Nate bids on her at an auction and wins....their story begins. And what a story, friends to lovers to everything. These two steamed up the pages and their burning desire for each other was felt throughout the read. I loved both of these two, Holly with her wit, telling it like it is and not shying away with what she wants, and what she wants is Nate. Then there was Nate, a serial casual dater who didn’t do commitments, falls for the one that should be off limits and how he only wants one woman for the first time in his life. I loved the little to no drama between them and how Alex takes the news along with all their circle of friends. An AMAZING friends to lovers read that stole my heart along with the characters in it. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
I received a free copy and am voluntarily leaving a review There were times that I thought my kindle was going to go up in flames when these two were together before they finally admitted their love for each other. Issues of dating a friend who also happens to be your brothers best friend are brought up. Especially if you grow up in a small town and you know everyone, there are a lot of issues because everyone is friends with both of you. Nate and Holly have been friends forever. Nate is also best friends with Holly's brother. They have had feelings for each other for years but have avoided acting on them or sharing them because they hang out in the same group of friends. Nate is known for not wanting anything serious in a relationship. Holly wants a relationship and forever. How long will it take before they finally admit their feelings to themselves and each other. How does her brother react when to Nate after seeing them kiss? How do their friends react when they find out that they have been seeing each other and not told anyone?
Back in the town of Willow Brook- Holly and Nate are turning heads with the sparks going off between them whenever they're near one another! The intense attraction between them is undeniable, but many obstacles stand in the way of detonating the sexual tension bomb between them. Until one night Nate takes fate into his own hands, taking a leap into the deep end of the lust pool he makes his it clear what they both already know. Getting Holly to jump in the deep end with him might prove to be a bit more difficult. GAH! I could have read the banter between Holly and Nate all day~ tense and heat fueled! Such a heart mending, sweet, witty story set in one of my favorite " fictional " places, I loved their journey and everyone who helped them get there! ( except maybe Ella she was a bit pushy there, some friend... J/S) Another book from J.H Croix I could not put down. I HIGHLY recommend if you have not checked out the other standalones in The Into The Fire Series - you do I am stoked to see what becomes of Remy and Rachels story next in Crash & Burn!!
Fundraiser auction on Halloween, sexy nurse costume and the one guy that gets under her skin!
Another great read. I love the friends to lovers angle. Holly is Alex's twin sister, she has always hung around his friends. His best friend Nate always seemed forbidden to her because they spent so much time together growing up she had automatically considered him a friend, plus she would never do anything to ruin her brother's relationship with his friend. She has had a hard time with her feelings for him since one night they were both a little tipsy and Nate kissed her. They have barely talked since then and then he goes and makes the winning bid at a fundraiser to get a date with her.
I love the banter between them, Nate with his playful yet commanding ways and Holly with her stubbornness and never wanting to look like a coward.
This is a must read to find out how many times Nate has to tease Holly into that date and if it ever happens.
I absolutely enjoyed this story!! It was a great read and I loved getting to know the characters better. Both Holly and Nate have been in previous stories as small side characters but we never got to know them too much. I loved getting to learn so much more about them. I loved Nate's personality and Holly's sassy-ness. Holly and Nate each had a crush on the other but as they had been friends for so long and are so interconnected by their best friends/siblings neither ever really acted on it and didn't know how to handle it. I loved seeing them work through things and loved how determined Nate become about taking the chance and pursuing Holly. This story is well written and drew me in from beginning to end. The sex is explicit. There was always more to it than just sex for sex with the two of them, even if they wanted to believe that's all it was at times. It was a great story and I'm super excited to see where things go next in this series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Ante has been pursuing nothing but casual encounters. Holly is looking for something long term and lasting. What neither of them knows is that they've been each other's crushes for years.
When finally seeing his chance, Nate takes it, but Holly can't believe that he wants the same thing that she does. Wisecracking Nate always seems to take things lightly.
While their physical relationship is intense and satisfying, Holly struggles with seeming to want more than Nate is willing to offer.
Will he convince Holly that he's looking for the same things she is?
The banter and teasing between the couple makes for snappy, rapid-fire dialog. At first, Nate's decision to try to move slowly makes him seem a bit callous anf flightly. But Nate shows himself to be devoted and loving for the right woman. Holly is sassy, stubborn and independent. The two together make this a fun romance read.
Gah!! These two were adorable. I think this might have been my favorite one! Burn For You was the ninth book in Croix’s Into the Fire Series. They are all interconnected but can be read as stand-alones. It was a sweet and angsty roller coaster of a ride!
Holly was talked into being part of a fundraiser for her job. It was for a great cause but being auctioned off to someone who drove her insane was not part of the plan. Would she be able to get out of it before it was too late?
Nate had been in love with Holly forever. Donating the money to have a date with her was either the smartest or dumbest thing he had ever done. Their friendship was getting ready to be taken up a notch or go down in flames!
So many twists and turns!! It had all the feels!! Holly and Nate are hands down my favorite couple. I could feel their love for each other on every page. I didn’t want to see their story end!
With no dating prospects in her small hometown Holly Blake finds herself being auctioned off for a date at her hospital fundraiser. She was unprepared to have one of her best friends win the bid. She'd had a crush on him for years although his reputation as a player put a damper on that. Plus there was his reaction to a kiss a year ago. Not great!
When Nate Fox sees his long time friend Holly being auctioned off at a fundraiser he doesn't hesitate to make sure he's the top bidder. Even though Holly makes every attempt to get out of their date Nate is determined to make her keep it. But they haven't even gone on that date and already he can't keep his hands or lips off her.
Trying to avoid their attraction to each other has only made things more difficult due to knowing most of the same people. How will the two react when jealousy rears it's ugly head? And how will Nate react to Holly's little secret?
Reading this book was like falling in love all over again! Seriously, the emotions are so well described we really feel what Nate and Holly are feeling too. And it was so easy to fall in love with such appealing characters: Nate, the fearless pilot who looks as good as his heart is, and Holly, the no-nonsense nurse whose caring matches her wit and whose body Nate fantasizes over for years... Sometimes, the biggest obstacles in life are our own fears and in this book, it really was internal battles and secret fears that hampered the relationship from moving forward despite the sizzle that roared to flames between them. Although Holly and Nate were surrounded by caring and supporting friends, they also had me cheering them on as well!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
It was great to be back in Willow Brook and catch up with all the characters from previous books. This book is about Nate and Holly. This starts out with Nate winning Holly at a date auction. Both of them have feelings for each other but both are too stubborn to admit it. Holly is annoyed that Nate bid on her but really I think she is annoyed because she is glad he won. Nate tells Holly he just did it to save her from everyone else that was bidding. The chemistry between these two is very very hot. I loved them both. I loved the dialogue between them. This was just a really well written story. They actually never get around to that date but it is fun reading about why they didn't make it there. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.
Love this series!!! Definitely could not put this book down!!! Holly and Nate have been friends since they were children. Nate is Holly’s twin brother’s best friend. They already know practically everything about each other… even how they like their eggs in the morning! But, neither has ever been aware that each had a crush on the other, and no one knows that Holly (who is not far from her thirtieth birthday) is still a virgin!! It’s now or never! If they’re meant to be, it’s time to give in to the chemistry that is between them…. And is that chemical explosion ever HOT!!! Love the SCORCHING scenes! So well written that it will melt everything you’re wearing!!! Love J. H. Croix style of writing! Love the way she does it without being “corny”. I can’t wait for the next story. BRAVO!!!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I just loved Nate and Holly’s story. As an avid reader of Ms. Croix’s, both of these characters have been introduced in previous books. Holly is Amelia’s best friend and was in the car accident with her back in high school. Nate is a bush pilot and best friend of Holly’s twin brother. There has been a mutual attraction since high school, but neither knew about the other’s interest, so they stayed in the friend zone. Until Nate sees Holly in a sexy nurse’s costume auctioning herself off for a charity fundraiser. Cue the fireworks! The chemistry between Nate and Holly was explosive! But sexual chemistry isn’t enough for Holly, she wants the real deal and Nate has a playboy reputation. Nate has his work cut out for him in trying to convince Holly she’s “the one.” I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest review.
Holly works at the Willowbrook hospital she is a head nurse in the emergency department she’s lonely and when you know everyone in town it’s hard to get a date. The hospital is having a charity fundraiser and they needed nurses for the auction so she thought why not. Nate watched Holly walk out on to the stage and he was determined to win her and he did for $5,000, Nate is Holly’s brothers best friend she has had a crush on him for a long time and even though she has Holly tries to get out of the date but Nate won’t let her. Nate tells Holly that she wants him just as much as he wants her and Holly couldn’t deny it, and that my friends is all I’m going to give you but know that there is so much more to this story to keep you entertained and turning the pages. This is a fantastic story I enjoyed it immensely and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
Burn For You: Into The Fire Series, by author J.H. Croix is another delicious story from Willow Brook, Alaska where the men are hot and the women are feisty. In this case it’s Holly, the ER nurse and Nate, the pilot who have long pined silently for each other but never made any serious moves until a hospital fund raiser. Then everything changes and forces them to deal with their feelings. And deal they do...all over...each other’s homes. But is it a fling or something more? The writing is excellent as always and the storyline is engaging and holds interest completely. Love the sneak peak into the next book as well. Definitely recommending this book for your reading pleasure and enjoyment. I am unassumingly leaving a review of this book for your consideration.
Another wonderful romance from Ms. Croix! I love all of her series set in Alaska. The descriptions of the landscape are awesome and yet you stay warm (ok, HOT!!) reading the books. I think if all of these couples were real then Alaska wouldn't be snowy for very long. They would change the entire landscape of the state they're so hot! This was Holly & Nate's story. They have been friends for years - Nate is Holly's twin brother's best friend. For lots of reasons they never got involved romantically but after seeing Holly in a sexy nurse's outfit at a fundraiser Nate can't resist bidding on a date with her.
