House of Wilkshire #2

Noah: House of Wilkshire

Rate this book
Noah Farley had been living in the States for a long time, and he was homesick. When Devon invited him to come home for a visit, he packed up everything he had and wasn’t planning on returning to his home in the city anytime soon, if ever. His dragon needed room to roam, and the city left his options too limited.

Bea Frost had made the buy of a lifetime, a castle in the country, and she made plans with her granddaughter Bryce, and daughter-in-law Laura, to move into it. Both Bea and Bryce were witches, and moving away from their current location, away from the Witches Council, would be like a breath of fresh air.

Noah’s family had lost the castle to back taxes before they had died. Its loss didn’t leave him much to go home to, but he was curious as to who had purchased the property. When he met Bryce, he was both surprised and pleased to find out that she was his mate. Bryce, however, didn’t care for dragons and wasn’t shy about letting him know that either.

The Witches Council consisted of three warlocks, Black, White, and Gray. When appointed, the mix was supposed to balance them out, but instead the men had become evil and corrupt. Bryce had become too powerful, more powerful than the council combined, and the WC considered her a threat. Killing her human mother or new mate would be just the ticket to bring her to heal…

Noah has been living in the states since he left the bad memories of his home town behind him. After his parents were betrayed and taxes defaulted on their castle he no longer has a claim, but still wants to know who would've bought his home he grew up in. When Devon invites and convinces him to come back for a vacation he takes up the opportunity to see how he will be received in the little town and sate his curiosity.

Bryce is moving on with her grandmother and mother to an honest to goodness castle after her own little town starts to question why the 3 ladies aren't aging. Moving away from being so close to the witches council was a breath of fresh air for Bryce, especially since they seemed determined to get her to get rid of her mother (a human).

When Noah meets Bryce he instantly knows who she is to him, but it's not so simple as saying "you're my mate" and they live happily ever after. Things in the little town are being run down and ignored by the current mayor, the witches council is more determined than anything to use either Bryce's mother or mate against her.

This book wasn't a favorite of mine. The way the author wrote the problems with Noah and the town made it seem like he was run out of the town only because his family were behind on taxes and his home was taken away. However, that doesn't explain WHY he would've been run out, or did he just leave because of the bad memories? There was also mentions of the witches council being questioned by other shifter elders because of their "activities" but that went nowhere. Even after it was determined they killed shifters nothing was done.

Noah, a dragon shifter, was homesick and when his friend, Devon, asked him to visit he jumped on it, planning to stay permanently if it worked out. Bryce, a witch - literally, not as in a bad person LOL, is moving into a castle with her grandmother, Bea. A castle! Needless to say, she's excited for this new journey. And then she meets the man whose family lost it.

Both know they just found their mate, and while one is eager to embrace it, the other isn't. Fate always gets her way though, and this time is no different. While Bryce may not like dragons, she'll quickly realize Noah is unlike anyone she's met before and they need each other to become whole.

Unfortunately, as they embark on their new mating, danger is around the corner, Bryce it's target. Even as pure of soul and heart as she is, there are those, specifically the Witches Council, that resent the power she has, jealous it's more than theirs combined.

Will Bryce accept Noah's place in her life and hers in his? Can Noah keep her safe? What does Bryce have against dragons and why? Can the Witches Council and their evil ways be defeated? Is a HEA possible?

One-click now and follow along as two people that are meant to be together must work through and overcome everything that stands in their way, even if that's one of them.

Noah had been invited to come home to England by his friend Devon. It just seemed the perfect timing for Noah. He was helping the police department in the States by investigating and solving murders. He was not only a dragon but what most called a 'profiler'. But he'd become disenchanted by people and his dragon was rarely able to come out and fly unless it was cloudy or rainy out. He decided while he was there he would see the family castle. Well, it used to be the family castle until a series of events wound up having it put up for sale on account of the back taxes owed. That's when he met Bryce, the granddaughter of the woman who bought the castle. She was also a witch and, oh yeah, turned out she was his mate!! This one took a few twists and turns with a great many mysteries along the way. I was wondering how the 'House of Wilkshire' would have a series when there was just one son. Kathi S. Barton tied it in beautifully. I can't wait to read Jackson's story next.

Interesting!

Bryce is a powerful witch & eventually in this book learns how powerful but all that happens after she meets Noah.

Noah works in the USA with cops helping them solve crimes until he needs a break & goes to visit his friend Devon. While there in England visiting Devon, Noah decides to go see the old family castle & discovers that his mate lives there with her mother & grandmother.

This is the beginning of their story. I wouldn’t say that there’s anything erotic about this book nor were there any descriptive sex scenes. What made this book very good was the good vs bad plot & the characters from the 1st book participating in this one. But, you can decide on that for yourself if you read the book.
