Hot Dad

Rate this book
A single dad, firefighter, steamy rom-com.

Sam
Since the moment I laid eyes on her I’ve wanted her.
But I wasn’t ready.
The kids were my world and my wounds were still raw.
For six months, I watched her from afar. Dreamed of her, lusted after her, fantasized…
But all that’s about to change.
I’m finally ready to take the plunge and start dating again.
And now that I know she’s single, I’m going to do this right and win Harper.
I want her mind, I want her body, I want her heart.
And when she gives me all access, no limits, I know she’s the one for me.

Harper
He’s the one we all call Hot Dad at playgroup.
The one who makes my knees weak and my panties wet every time he walks through the door.
We all eye-f*#k the bejesus out of him, and dream of his tongue between our legs.
But my kid is my world, and I’m a frumpy mom with a hole in the bum of her yoga pants.
What could he ever see in me?
So when Sam calls out of the blue, I’m stunned.
Now if only the kids can stop c*ck-blocking us, and his psycho ex would go away.
He’s turned out to be a master Dom and I’m willing and eager to be taught how to be the perfect little submissive.

** this book contains BDSM elements. It is written in first person with dual POV. It is the third book in the standalone sequence of Doctor Smug and Snowed In & Set Up. You do not have to have read the first two to enjoy or read this book. It is entirely a standalone book. No cheating, no cliffhanger. Lots and lots of steamy moments, vulgar language and mild suspense. And of course, a happily ever after.

Whitley Cox

179 books984 followers
A Canadian West Coast baby born and raised, Whitley is married to her high school sweetheart and together they have two beautiful daughters and a fluffy dog. She spends her days making food that gets thrown on the floor, vacuuming Cheerios out from under the couch and making sure that the dog food doesn't end up in the air conditioner. But when the kids are at school and it's not quite wine o'clock, Whitley sits down, avoids the pile of laundry on the couch, and writes.

A lover of all things decadent; wine, cheese, chocolate and spicy erotic romance, Whitley brings the humorous side of sex, the ridiculous side of relationships and the suspense of everyday life into her stories. With single dads, firefighters, Navy SEALs, mommy wars, body issues, threesomes, bondage and role-playing, Whitley’s books have all the funny and fabulously filthy words you could hope for.

Sam and Harper are perfect! I love that even though they are parents, they can still have a cute flirtatious side, as well as a hot and heavy side to them. I admire them both for being so strong and pushing through life’s struggles. Whitley Cox is so creative, and I’m excited to see what she writes next!

You will not need to use your safe word for this book, it will be GREEN all the way. Hot Dad is a single parent romance about Sam and Harper. This book ticked all the boxes for me, it was full of angst and drama, was sweet and romantic, made me smile and laugh and it definitely wasn’t the temperature outside that had me needing to cool down. Sam is a firefighter and a devoted single dad to his two children who finally gets up the courage to approach single Mum Harper after admiring her from afar for the past six months. The connection between these characters is one that jumps off the pages and has you falling in love with them and their children. Whitley Cox never disappoints and has definitely delivered a five star read with this hot and steamy romance.

I was given an advanced readers copy of this book and have decided to leave a voluntary review. Ever since Sam was introduced I'm snowed in set up I instantly wanted a lot more of hot dad. When Whit told me she writing Sam's own book I was so excited I couldn't. I'm so excited I got the chance to read it now. I absolutely loved this book not only was extremely hot mute it also showed how hard it can be for single parents. It also showed how the real the characters were. It wasn't like they were living on fairy no and like the realism of that.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review...This book did have a story line and I was grateful for that, it did get into some BDSM which I am totally not into, but I just passed over that part and read the story. We have 2 single hot people, hot dad and hot mom who after six months of circling each other get together, and then hot dads physco ex appears..Yeah she was creepy..

OMG! This book!

Hot Dad hits the ground running. I was drooling and swooning before getting to the end of the first chapter. By the time I got to the epilog, I was a weeping, feel filled, mess. Sam and Harper are fun and sexy AF together. With cock-blocking kiddos, and a maniacal ex keeping them on their toes, they still manage to get things HOT. It's a good thing Sam's a fire fighter because by the time they get together, the kink and heat are combustible.
As much as I love the main characters, the secondary characters are just as amazing. They are well developed and bring so much to the story. (I really hope that Ben gets his own book.)
I can't recommend this book enough! It's well written, well developed and filled with page after page fun, sexy, crazy goings on that makes it nearly impossible to put down.
My best suggestions? 1-click Hot Dad, have tissues handy for the epilog of nothing else, and make sure you have time to read it through to the end. You will not want to put it down. I also recommend an adult beverage 😉 Relax. Enjoy.

I really want a Sam for myself. And I think I could be besties with Harper. These two are beyond description. They are two minor characters from another of Ms. Cox's books but in no way do you have to read that to appreciate this one. And I am so glad she decided to write this book. It is my opinion that this is her best book.
So about the story. Sam and Harper are both single parents. Sam has two, a girl, whose 3, and a boy whose just turning 1. Harper has a 2 year old daughter. They both attend the same Monday play group and Sam is known as Hot Dad. The mothers in the group have been appreciating him from afar since he started bringing his kids. And Hraper in particular. And it seems he's been appreciating her as well. It takes a friend to make the connection that they may be good for each other. Sam calls and asks Harper out and it seems they are on their way. Until Harper's daughter gets sick, she has to cancel. But Sam becomes creative and they have one of the most romantic dates I've ever heard of. They make plans again and again they have to cancel the face to face date. And so it goes on and on. Actually now that I think about it, I'm not sure they ever had a traditional date. And that is more than fine.
They don't hold anything back from each other from the start and I think that's what makes their relationship stronger. Harper has such a dry sense of humor that she makes Sam laugh and he needs that in his life. His ex and the mother of his children just up and left after his son was born. Since then, Sam has had the help of his parents and hers too but he had to give up the career he loved to be able to stay home with his kids. And Harper never knew the father of her daughter, she's the result of a one night stand.
Harper discovers that Sam is a bit dominate in the bedroom. And holy smokes, those are some of the best written pages! I devoured this book. Not only are the love scenes enough to burn up my ereader but there is a true story going on. The beginning of their love affair had me smiling and laughing at all the things that kept getting in their way. It seemed as if fate was steering them away from each other. Throw in his ex and it really seems that fate hates them. I loved how this flowed and moved.

Finally we get to read about Sam and Harper from the playgroup. Sam is the HOT single father of two whose other half walked away from not only him but both of his children. Harper is the single mom who became pregnant from a one night stand at a masquerade party. The two have been eyeing each other since the playgroup started and they finally connect. But once the sparks fly, being together brings up other issues that they have to deal with. In the end, is it easier to walk away from the new relationship or have they finally found something that they both want to fight for? With great characters and a storyline that was enjoyable from the opening pages this is a book I would highly recommend. Whitley Cox never disappoints!!

Likeable, but...

This is the first book I've read from this author, and I really liked it, but it seemed like it couldn't decide what it wanted to be when it grew up. Part rom-com, part BDSM erotica, part angst intrigue, the parts didn't meld all that well.

Slight spoiler alert:
A couple of things that bothered me: After Sam's break up with his ex, he realized that was scening for the wrong reason, namely he was angry at the ex and was taking it out on other women, punishing them when he was helpless to punish her. Then he did the same thing when he scened with the Harper when he was angry at his ex. One of the cardinal rules of being a Dom is to be in control of your own emotions so that you can be in control of the scene, which he would know since he'd supposedly trained for two years under well known Dom. Another thing was how helpless he seemed around his ex. The whole restaurant fiasco comes to mind--I know he doesn't want to make a scene in public or upset his kids, but they both happened anyway. And after the birthday party, his house, her house the restaurant, and the playgroup, plus given how "off" she was when she came to his house the next time, he leaves her alone and gives her a chance to create a worse scene in the kitchen. And how does that happen, exactly, with three friends grown people in the house?

Although it may not seem like it, I really liked this book, I just found some parts of it jarring and not in keeping with the flow of the narrative.

A funny book with hot sex, light BDSM.

This was my first book by Whitley Cox and will not be my last. Two single parents with toddlers meet at a kiddy play group that they each attend every Monday. After 6 months of eyeing each other they finally start talking and try to set up a date. One thing after another their first date keeps getting postponed. But when they finally do book up, oh my does it get hot a sexy. I am going to go back to Amazon and purchase this one. It is one I would read again. If you like characters with funny lines and some hot, light BDSM sex then this is one to read.

This was a cute story. Two single parents meet at a kids' playgroup and after about six months, "Hot Dad" Sam asks Harper out (who he secretly dubbed "Hot Mom"). But young kids can (and are) cock-blockers, so it takes a bit for them to actually get together. Sam is very creative in coming up with ways to spend time together even if they aren't physically together. There's a bit of drama with his ex (whom he was never married to) and, like I said, the cock-blocking kids, but it was really cute. And a bit sexy. I marked this as BDSM, but it was really light BDSM.

Top 5 Favorite books I've ever read!

I had a hard time putting this book down. The story is funny and witty, and surprising around some corners. It held my attention thru the entire book, and when I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about it & what was to come. I love the fire & flirting between the characters. Even Connie made me laugh at times. Enjoyed this story thoroughly and will be researching more by this author.

It was a nice book I loved that they were both single-parents and that it showed that they were not rushing into things and also that it wasn't easy for them to meet up and do normal single couples can do like drop everything and meet-up for drinks and a quickie. On a side note does all of Harper's yoga pants have a hole in the bum or does she have just love those one pair that she cannot live without.

He's the hot single dad that comes to play group with his kids. They meet and have so much in common. Both are getting over bad relationships, but between them is a profound connection that unites them in a quest of having a happily ever after. Sam's and Harper's connection is strong, but can his ex-find a way to sever their connection with her over the top behavior? This book started out as a sweet and spicy romance between two single parents who met at playgroup. All of a sudden, she started calling him "Sir" and he started threatening to "punish" her with spanking, flogging and nipple clamps. Why does EVERY author have to try to cash in on FSOG, even when it doesn't fit the story? DNF
