"Ichigo! They must be ignorant. They think this is enough to fill you with despair. They don't know the struggles you've lived through. Show them, Ichigo! Show them that they cannot stop you with despair!"

After finishing reading the, hands down, worst part of the Fullbringer arc and after going through one breakdown after another breakdown, here I am - having the best time of my life (okay, I'm a little bit exaggerating here, because the Soul Society arc is clearly the best arc in BLEACH, nothing comes close).

"To be able to repaint the past... It's terrifying just imagining it. But... so what?! No matter how much your past is changed, he cannot change your future! If a bond is lost, all you have to do is rebuild it! Am I wrong, Ichigo?!"

Ichigo's no longer crying. No longer screaming in pain and betrayal. He's in his full power now and kicking asses left and right - AS HE SHOULD! He's all confident and cool - again, AS HE SHOULD! - and I love to see him like this! His ally-turned-enemy, Ginjou Kugo, is absolutely SHOOKETH. There he was, being all triumphant and euphoric, thinking that he took everything away from Ichigo, but then the guy didn't just stood up again to fight, but had suddenly made a comeback as a Soul Reaper. What was supposed to not be possible, became possible.

The dumb teenager was supposed to regain his power and transfer everything to Ginjou and Xcution. He was supposed to be vulnerable and alone. He was supposed to be an incredibly easy target.

But this dumb teenager isn't just anyone. It's Ichigo Kurosaki, for crying out loud. And Ichigo Kurosaki is the strongest, even if he doesn't have his powers. He never gives up. Never loses. And is never truly alone.

"But right now he doesn't have any such powers! Cuz I stole every last drop from him! Pouring only your measly spiritual pressure into him while his tank's empty won't regain his power!"
"You idiot. It wasn't just Rukia's!"

This moment always gives me chills. I mean, there are plenty of moments in this volume that gives me chills (the best kind of chills), but this one is special. You have to understand the situation, dear reader. When I watched this particular episode of the anime for the very first time, I was in pain because Ichigo was in pain. I felt betrayed, because Ichigo felt betrayed. I felt weak, and alone, wanting to scream, but being unable to. I was convinced that the Soul Society had abandoned Ichigo, so I ended up holding to the last amount of hope that some kind of miracle will happen. I just wanted Ichigo's pain to end.

AND GUESS WHAT? THE MIRACLE HAPPENED.

'Rukia... Renji... Kenpachi... Byakuya... Toshiro... Ikkaku... No, it's not just theirs. Shinji. Rangiku. Unohana. Hanataro. Dad. Urahara. Yoruichi. And even the captain general...'
"You feel it, don't you?"

The amount of tears I shared that day (and every day of my re-watching) easily matched the amount of tears I shared the day before (when Ginjou's true face got revealed and Ichigo got betrayed). The difference was that this time I cried out of happiness, not out of pain and sadness. If you know me, then you know that I'm a sucker for the stories about bonds, brotherhoods, friendships, found family and so on. What Ichigo and the Soul Reapers have is one of the bonds that, despite not being perfect, I absolutely adore and support with my whole being. You can only imagine the scream that came out of my throat when I saw the Soul Society's delegation suddenly show up and then appear behind Ichigo. It was the support both Ichigo (and I) craved for, but couldn't ask for. It was the support Ichigo deserved.

"The captain general would've never given this kind of order in the past. It was you who changed him, Kurosaki. That power you received is the result of the changes you made to the Soul Society in all of your battles. Accept it with honor."

HELLL YEAAAAAH!! SAY IT LOUDER, TOSHIRO!!

Ginjou's face and behaviour the moment Ichigo had regained his powers was truly HILARIOUS to watch. After everything he made Ichigo go through, all he deserved was to get pummeled until he couldn't get up anymore, but Ichigo forcing him to realize what big of a mistake he had done by making him his enemy was even better to see.

"Hah! Your Getsugatensho is definitely more powerful now! But is that it?! What a letdown! That's not enough to kill me, Kurosaki!"
"You idiot. That wasn't Getsugatensho. It was just my sword pressure."
~ OOOHHHHHHH 🔥

Did I say already that I love confident Ichigo? Because I love confident Ichigo! And I love to see the shock and disbelief on his enemies' faces!

"I despise the way you fight. Not directly participating in the battle. Robbing others of their bonds and toying with the enemy is the height of a cowardice. An audacity only punishable by death. Come. I shall cut you down before you take one swing."

But it wasn't just Ichigo who was the hero of this volume. While he had been busy with his fight against Ginjou, the Ichigo Suport Team was fighting the powered up versions of the Xcution members. While I'm not a fan of either of the Fullbringers (with the exception of Riruka), I really like these fights and I did felt a little bit sorry for the Xcution. They aren't bad people (they just wanted more power, despite already having power), they are just lost, or so I see it. If they never encountered Ginjou and Tsukishima, they could've become decent people (or even worse, who knows?).

Anyways, I hope that you understand why I gave this volume the highest of ratings. If I could, I would sing a song about how amazing it is (and overall how amazing BLEACH is). Since I already know what will happen next, I'm sure that Volume 54 will get the same treatment from me. I know the events, but I'm still excited to witness them once again (but this time in the manga version). See you in Volume 54 then! ☺️

Some things I want to talk about: (beware of the spoilers!)

~ Rukia's punch in greeting that she had served for Ichigo normally would made me really angry (they didn't see each other in more than a year and this is how she greets him??), but it's Ichigo and Rukia we're talking about. She always punched him first and then used emotional words to get him out of the funk - it always works, and I know that Rukia deeply cares for Ichigo and wants the best for him, so I'm not complaining.
~ Did I say how awesome it was to see Renji, Hitsugaya, Kenpachi, Byakuya and Ikkaku appear in the sky?! Because it was truly, truly awesome!!
~ "Sorry, I missed. Next time I won't." - CHIIIIILSSSSSSS 🔥
~ "I thought that the transfer of a power to a human was a serious crime."
"We really didn't have a choice. It was the captain general's orders."
- we came a very long way, didn't we? 😭✋
~ Were was Orihime when Ichigo needed support? At Tsukishima's side! But when she sensed that Ichigo was crying, she tried to run to his side - GIRL, IT WAS ALREADY TOO LATE
~ "Rukia! Renji! Toshiro! They all came to stop Ichigo."
"Something's not right. Why is everybody on Ichigo's side? Didn't they come to stop Ichigo? It's as if... they came to take Ginjou down!"
- it's honestly upsetting that both Chad and Orihime, while seeing the Soul Reapers, thought that they came to stop Ichigo. In what world would they stand against their hero? 🤨 (yes, I know that they came to stop him if things would go wrong - I mean, because of the badge - but I know that they didn't want to do so and hoped that they wouldn't have to)
~ "Now Inoue and Sado have been taken out of action. They won't have to suffer anymore." - THEY SUFFERED?! WHAT ABOUT ICHIGO?! 🙄
~ I really like that, unlike the other Xcution members, Riruka didn't want to get Ichigo's powers.
~ "Are you ready, Ichigo? Feel for yourself the greatness if the power we gave you!" - the AUDACITY of Giriko in this scene! 😠
~ Ichigo taking down the Xcution members all by himself (it wasn't real, but still) pleasantly reminded me of the scene with Ichigo taking down the lieutenants in the Soul Society arc!
~ "You think you're so cool. It's funny!" [Yukio] - but he IS cool?? What do you mean?? 🤨
~ Poor Kenpachi, he knew that Giriko will not gave him the fight he deserves, and he was right.
~ Hitsugaya's absolutely unimpressed face expression no matter Yukio did was truly funny to see.
~ Ikkaku vs Shishigawara is the best battle when it comes to the Xcution members, fight me if you want.
~ "You're not going to attack?"
"As if I'd make the first move against a woman."
"What a gentleman. But perhaps you have a narrow world-view? Have you ever met a woman stronger than you?"
"Strong or weak doesn't matter. I never make a first move."
- RENJI IS THE REAL ONE
~ "What a surprise. Soul Reapers know about bikes?"
"In the past, Hisagi brought one back from the world of the living and got in trouble for riding it around the Seireitei."
- HISAGI?! 😂
~ Jackie's gentle smile before her "death" 😢
~ Rukia's happy smile while hugging the plushies that were attacking her - she's too cute! ☺️

I am loving seeing all the captains back in action! And the fights against the Fullbring users are honestly more interesting than some of the last arc’s fights.

And thus begins a sense of déjà-vu as this story arc enters the usual everyone-find-an-enemy-partner-that-looks-like-you-and-fight-them. I'm still not completely enthralled by this Fullbringer stuff and I don't see where things could possibly go after this fight except a non-conclusive end to these fights that allow the mangaka to then stretch out the arc over a couple more volumes...

It’s good seeing the Soul Society fighting Xcution. This reminds me of previous arcs where they face someone that’s like their counterpart.

Bleach, Vol. 53 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next ten chapters (460–469) of the on-going manga series.

After being stabbed by Rukia Kuchiki, who reveals the sword was created by Kisuke Urahara and was infused with energies from the Thirteen Court Guard Squads, Ichigo Kurosaki regains his Soul Reaper powers as Byakuya Kuchiki, Renji Abarai, Kenpachi Zaraki, Ikkaku Madarame, and Tōshirō Hitsugaya appear.

It is then that Kūgo Ginjō is revealed to be the first Substitute Soul Reaper as Ichigo overpowers him. After Yasutora "Chad" Sado and Orihime Inoue were knocked out for their safety by Urahara and Isshin Kurosaki, Ginjō gives the other Xcution members Ichigo's fullbring to increase their powers.

Yukio Hans Vorarlberna proceeds to separate everyone in different arenas while Ikkaku knocks Moe Shishigawara out with a headbutt. In their respective battles, Kenpachi kills Giriko Kutzusawa with single slash while Renji defeats Jackie Tristan before she sacrifices herself to ensure his safety. As Hitsugaya outwits Yukio to cancel his ability, Byakuya engages Shūkurō Tsukishima while Rukia begins her battle against Riruka Dokugamine.

This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Tite Kubo. The true colors of the Xcution are brought to light as the Fullbrings and Shinigami fight. With the help of Kisuke Urahara inventing a device – a sword to transfer back the powers of the Shinigami back to Ichigo Kurosaki.

All in all, Bleach, Vol. 53 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems intriguing and I cannot wait to read more.

After the surprise ending of the last volume, I wasn't expecting it to get this thrilling quite so fast, but HOT DAMN!

I thought the battles were cleverly done by matching all opponents up with similar counterparts. It made it so exciting and entertaining.

This is Bleach back at its finest! You've got exciting epic battles, snarky cocky banter while fighting, feel-good emotions, and SOUL REAPERS! Love, love, love this volume. This makes me want to re-start the series from the very beginning again right this second. This is going down as one of my favorite Bleach volumes so far. Phenomenal!

Love the little drawings of the Soul Reapers in between chapters. Very funny!

Pretty great volume! Love to see the whole squad fighting against the fullbringers

The each of the soul reaper crew gets paired up with an Xecutioner and they have one on one battles. Kenpachi defeats time guy with one blow. Renji beats dirty boots. Ikkaku beat the Luck man. While it's cool to see our beloved Soul Reaper friends come in and body the Fullbringers, wow is it a let-down that it's happening. Tite Kubo came up with an interesting new direction that avoids power creep and the wacky power scaling of the Arrancar arc continuing, and now he's just throwing it away. While certain abilities, like Tsukishima and Riruka, look interesting (Tsukishima's is probably the coolest ability in all of Bleach) it's like Kubo (or his editor, or poor Shonen Jump survey reviews) just got tired of where the arc was going and decided to go right back to standard format 1v1 superpower sword fights.

“A man who lays a hand on a woman is trash. Living as trash is the same as being dead.”

If you were missing the Soul Society or the 13 captains then you’re sure to love this volume. We see some familiar faces, some new abilities, and battles that shift between exciting and forlorn.

The beauty of Bleach for me is truly in the fully-developed personalities of such a wide cast. Every bit of dialogue feels so purposeful—it’s impossible not to form a connection to whoever is in each panel.

Wow. This was brilliant. One of my favourite Bleach volumes that I've read. So many epic moments and huge plays. Byakuya genuinely is one of my favourite characters now I've read the manga. Yammomoto breaking soul society rules to help the boy that saved his ass countless times, beautiful. Kenpachi one banging a man is never not gonna be cold af 😭😭. Toshiro had his moment, Rukia was sick. My boy Renji even got to flex 🤣😭. Great Volume.

3.5 rounded down to a 3. A lot of great Ichigo moments in the first half; very Ichigo-lite in the second half for obvious plot-related reasons. As much as I (surprisingly) enjoyed reading the battles in this volume and seeing everyone's various techniques come out to play after the time skip, I am so bloody glad that the next volume is apparently the conclusion of this story arc. This arc has felt more like a bumper to something bigger than a proper full-blown storyline, so I won't be too sad to say goodbye to it.

Given that Manga, and especially Shonen is split up into bigger arcs as composed to volumes I will be analyzing and reviewing this by Arc. I also reread this manga over the span of 2 months, some days reading as much as 100 chapters a day. It would be quite tedious for me to review each 7-8 chapter volume. So this will be copy and pasted throughout all of the 72 manga volumes. That being said, if you're looking at this without having viewed the series...spoiler warning. I don't recap anything, but I also mention things that happen. If you want me to answer the question "Should I pick this up?" Yes. Even if you stop at the end of the Soul Society Arc. It's worth it.

Karakura Town Arc - Chapters 1-56 - Rating: 7/10
(The official page lumps this in with the Soul Society Arc however I feel as if they are two very separate arcs with two very separate themes)
- A fun introduction.
-An interesting premise on the idea of ghosts and demons (Hollows)
-Does a good job of introducing the characters and I especially enjoyed the love for characters like Chad, Orihime and Uryu as these characters would later lose more and more spotlight as the series went on.
-It is a bit of a monster of the week. When it works, like with Chad's introduction story. It works. But Characters like Don Kanonji felt superficial and very gimmicky. Which, fair. I didn't enjoy them as much.

Soul Society Arc - Chapters 57-182 - Rating: 10/10
-The height of Bleach
-Establishes an afterlife seemingly perfectly. Later on revealed to be full of plot holes and never fleshed out but hey! That's not an issue in THIS arc. The fights are top tier, the themes of Ichigo owing a life debt to Rukia and his passion and determination to rise above literally God's army is inspiring and to this day is why I love Ichigo so much. He doesn't have some grandiose plan. He doesn't have a major goal to accomplish. He is a protector by heart, losing his mother has made him sour to failing to protect those he cares about and he'll do anything in his power never to feel that helpless again. Very powerful stuff.
-The twist near the end of this arc is revolutionary and would make waves for the next 200 chapters onward. A perfect ending and set up for the forthcoming arc.
-The only issues I have for this arc would be Ichigo's lightning speed progression. The guy goes from being able to barely defeat a third seat to besting multiple captains in roughly 100 or less chapters. I get that that is the point and him defeating captains was more of a struck of luck, but progression and pacing wise it feels very unearned and a factor of "for the plot he needed to be this strong" It only seems as fast as it is because Ichigo's progression slows drastically down for the rest of the story moving foreword so it's only now that I make that criticism.
-Also, and this will be an issue in most Shonen. There are 13 Captains with 13 Vice Captains and seats that branch all the way to 10 I believe? Regardless, there's a fudge ton of characters that are introduced here and it can get a little jarring at times. Luckily, Kubo does a great job at making their designs and characters unique despite such a large cast.

Hueco Mundo Arc - Chapters 183-423 - Rating 7/10
-This is another arc where personally I would split it up into two separate arcs. But for the sake of this review I will simply refer to the first half of the arc and the later half of the arc. First Half 9/10. Second Half. 5/10.
-The first half of this arc is a great continuation of the last. Ichigo now struggles with his inner demons and it affects his ability to protect the ones he loves. We are also introduced to a deadly unknown new villains. The Arrancars/Espada to this day remain one of my favorite villain factions in all of manga enemies.
-Just so you're aware I would say the first half of this arc ends right around the point of Ichigo vs Grimmjow. Grimmjow is one of the first Arrancar that Ichigo faces. And he's also one of two Espada that he faces three times. The conclusion of that fight shows Ichigo conquering his inner demons. Where Grimmjow is very much fighting to establish himself. Grimmjow has to fight Ichigo to prove to his fallen comrades that he is as good as he says he is. He doesn't care about Aizen, he doesn't care about the rest of the Espada. It is very personal for him. For Ichigo, Orohime is within his grasp of saving and he views this as his "final" battle. It's my favorite fight in all of Bleach.
-However, this is where things start to take a bit of dip in quality in my opinion. We had a goal and we were striving towards that goal. Each character of the original cast coming to repay the debt they made to their friend who had risked her life to save them in the Soul society arc. But somewhere along the way it seems we just had a fighter fest. Captains would face enemies with no themes or character revelations. The Espadas got a little light but nothing that made their fights compelling. You almost just feel bad for the Espada as they were monsters turned into a military force by an unstoppable tyrant. But even that wasn't enough to make half of the fights interesting. Now, that's with knowing the outcome. These fights played little importance in the larger scheme of things. Where at least in the Hueco Mundo fights each match up had the protagonists striving for a goal. Rukia to defeat Aaroneiro to free her former superiors soul. Byakuya to defend Rukia. Renji and Uryu teamwork. Nel to protect Ichigo and get revenge on Nnoitra. Whereas Stark fought Kyoraku.....cause.....and Hitsugaya fought Halibel because Water vs Ice would be cool.
-This leaves me to the end. I won't say it wasn't satisfying that Ichigo was able to defeat Aizen. And yes, I do feel like his new power was earned. 3 months of training. But this was clearly a last minute decision to save Aizen for a later date and the show must go on. I do feel like it wasn't as satisfying as 200+ chapter buildup needed to be.

The Fullbring Arc - Chapters 424-479 - Rating: 8/10
-A very underrated arc. And yes, I acknowledge that rating wise I think the Fullbring arc is superior to the Hueco Mundo arc. That is mostly true. Though I like the first half of the Hueco Mundo Arc more than the Fullbring arc. The end of the HM arc really brought it down for me. The Fullbring Arc is much more concise and is actually the shortest arc in the series and works as a glorified Ichigo getting his powers back arc. But that doesn't mean its bad.
-When I read it originally back when it was coming out in 2010. (Cause I'm Old) It wasn't phenomenal. In fact, I hated it. But wouldn't you? It took just short of a year to get to the point that we were at. But upon rereading it, it gave much deserved love to the characters who hadn't been shown love in quite some time. The original cast. It was a very character focused arc. Ichigo never seemed more human. And despite me hating it before for taking so long, reading weekly can sometimes hurt these mystery based arcs. The twist is heavily foreshadowed and I really appreciated it.
-That being said, the end was super rushed. This was a big bummer for me. The villains this time around were humans. And the ones who had the most exposure and relations with these characters were the original cast who again....were humans. So to have the soul reapers, who have no connection to the fullbringers show up and basically no diff most of the fullbringers felt very forced and fanservicey to me. This very well could have not been Kubo's call. As the community was very vocal about their dislike for this arc as it was going on. But I appreciate it now much more as I appreciate character and story over big sword fights. Lol.

The Thousand Year Blood War Arc - Chapters 424-689 - Rating: 5/10
-And we're finally here. The final and largest arc within the Bleach story. And man...does it not stick the landing.
-That being said, this arc has phenomenal moments. Kenpachi's Shikai and Bankai. Ichigo's double swords. Renji's true Bankai. Rukia's Bankai. And many more. However, they are put together against the most break neck speed arc that I have ever read. Kubo was very ambitious when he introduced 26 new villains. However, most of them got barely any screen time and a lot of them even got off screened by higher level captains. This was unlike the Espada who each got a full double page spread for their Resurrections.
-Yhwach himself was a phenomenal villain but was dealt with swiftly and imo dirty. They did him dirty.
-There was just something off. The mood changed and it was very apparent. The villains had random powers instead of the powers reflecting their personalities or needs. The finale felt so underwhelming.
-Ichigo gets to be the strongest he's ever been....but he doesn't defeat a single person besides the main villain despite being in several fights.
-It isn't a good arc. In fact, I would say it's the worst. Hopefully the anime does a better job with this already mammoth of a story. 260 chapters is no joke.

This gives the story of Bleach an Overall rating of 7.4/10. Which to me is above average. It has it's ups and downs. It's not perfect. But when it's high, it's peak shonen. But when it's low, it's very forgettable.

I feel like this arc was rushed and even though I know that Kubo plans many of the things that happen in this series, it felt like some of the characters (Renji and Kenpachi) were out of character. Renji is being sexist (although some would call it chivalrous) and Kenpachi was very excited to see Ichigo again in the Soul Society arc after he beet him but now it feels more like they’re strangers. He didn’t even say a word to Ichigo. Whereas in Renji’s case, this is the first time I’ve heard him say stuff like, I don’t make the first move against a woman but did he forget when he was attacking Rukia in the first arc? Even if he purposely missed her, this still doesn’t make sense. I get that Renji is supposed to be seen as this guy who respects women but if you really respected women then you would fight her like an equal. Saying these things and holding back a lot in a fight is not respectful to your opponent, it’s saying that you look down on her, that you don’t think she’s worth the effort to fight her for real. She knows what she’s getting herself into, no one is forcing her to fight, so what the hell!? While I’m tired of Hollywood’s version of a strong woman (Captain Marvel and Snow White 2024 are not strong women in my opinion), I’m also sick and tired of this stupid boys school yard rule of not fighting women, thank God it doesn’t appear in media anymore because it’s insulting. I still love this series but Fairy Tail and Fullmetal Alchemist are really good at avoiding this. I know that there was a moment in FMA but that was a villain towards Izumi and of course like the badass she is, she showed him that she can hold her own. I don’t hate Renji but I do have a little less respect for him know. Yes I agree some of what he said but it’s not respecting women when one wants to fight and you won’t take her seriously. Yes she’s not nearly as strong as you but she’s not a weakling either. Ririka on the other hand doesn’t have fighting powers so fighting against would be different. I do like that Ichigo fought her seriously and also fought Hiyori and the others when he was training to be a vizard. I don’t think Ichigo cares about the gender of his opponent, he’ll just fight them because at the end of the day, it’s all about survival and if you attack a woman in the middle of a fight, it’s not domestic abuse, it’s just plain and simple fighting.

Ginjo is not only dismayed at Rukia’s unexpected appearance where she hands Ichigo a sword, he is shocked that Ichigo still has any powers since he thought he drained him of them. Turns out the sword contains the power of a number of the captains from Soul Society. At the Old Man’s request, they’ve come to help Ichigo, since he was instrumental in saving Soul Society. Renji, Byakuya, Hitsugaya, Kenpachi, and Ikkaku are all there with Rukia and ready to do battle. Apparently Ginjo and Tsukishima’s little scheme has failed. But Ichigo learns something surprising. Before him, there was another deputy soul reaper. And apparently that man was Kugo Ginjo! The plot thickens!

Chad and Orihime are baffled at the turn things have taken, still under the mistaken impression that Tsukishima is a long-time friend. They assume the Soul Reapers are there to help them but they seem to be on Ichigo’s side! And why does Orihime feel so bad when she sees Ichigo cry? Mercifully, Kiskue and Isshin take Chad and Orihime out of the battle, although Isshin complains about having to take the heavy one (Chad, of course lol)

Ginjo distributes the power he has taken from Ichigo among his people, who are amazed at the way they feel. Yukio creates arenas in order to force match-ups between the two sides. Kenpachi sees Byakuya has been paired with Tsukishima and wants him to switch since he thinks he’s stronger than his opponent but that doesn’t work and he is left with Giriko. Ichigo faces Ginjo, but is unexpectedly joined by Uryu, who apologizes to Ichigo for not telling him sooner what he surmised concerning the deputy badge. Hitsuguya faces Yukio, whom he dubs the “annoying guy”, while it’s Rukia versus Ruriko, who keeps trying to bombard her with cute things. Ikkaku is stuck battling with Tsukishima’s lackey, Shishigawara, the lucky one. Will his luck run out against Ikkaku? Renji is paired up with Jackie Tristan and her Dirty Boots, but he refuses to strike first against a woman.

Let the battles begin!

To be honest, I just want to see Ichigo and the Soul Reapers kick a lot of Fullbring hiney and end this obnoxious arc. Not much to say other than each battle brings its own troubles that have to be overcome. Even so, it’s a foregone conclusion who will ultimately win, so it’s more a question of how than who. Even so, still love the series, looking forward to the next volume.

VOLUME 53: CHAPTER 460-469
Arc 10: The Lost Substitute Shinigami

Ichigo's Shinigami power have come back. Rukia, Renji, Byakuya, Toushiro, Kenpachi and Ikkaku were also there. The sword that used to give Ichigo power was made by Urahara. Yamamoto ordered all Captains and Vice Captains of Gotei 13 to put their reiatsu in the sword to help Ichigo got his power back as a they indebted to Ichigo. Ginjō is the first substitute Shinigami. Ginjō used Ichigo's Fullbring to combine it with his Fullbring. He also share it with other XCUTION.

The battle begins. Ichigo and Uryuu fights Ginjō. Kenpachi fights Giriko and he easily killed him. Ikkaku fights Shishigawara and he defeat him as he runs out of luck. Renji fights Jackie and able to defeat her as his strength is increasing for this 17 months. Toushiro fights Yukio and have no problem to defeat him. Byakuya fights Tsukishima. Tsukishima can insert a memories to inorganic material. He insert a new memories to Byakuya's Zanpakutou. Tsukishima managed to cut Byakuya as he knows a weak spot of Byakuya's Shikai and Bankai. Rukia fights Riruka and Rukia was turned into stuffed animal.

The crew is back together!!!!
Lieutenant Rukia!!! Her short hair and badge and gloves are so cute. I remember how Byakuya kept her from a seated officers position to keep her from danger, I wonder if they ever discussed this. I do have to admit I’d like more of Rukia and the SS stories.
Don’t make her fight bunnies!!! It’s too cruel!
Everyone looks so good! I have definitely come into a love for Renji that I originally didn’t have when I first watched Bleach back in the day, when he’s introduced so antagonistically. Now I really appreciate him. “A man who lays his hands on a woman is trash. Living as trash is the same as being dead.” #feminism
Kind of sad Chad and Orihime get taken out because I enjoy drama and angst but there’s so many characters in play it makes sense.
Ikkaku: don’t be such a softie *stabs kid* also ikkaku: *lectures his own kid opponent to not throw his life away*
hitsugaya being completely unimpressed with yukio’s “godlike abilities” is me when aizen used to monologue. “Amazing. You really are a god. Wow. Anyway…”

I've heard people really don't like this arc, but this has to be some of the funniest manga I think I've ever read. I think people might take this arc too seriously, thus taking away from the presumably-actually intended experience.

While its exciting to see the captains and lieutenants back in action, the fights are lacklustre and pass too quickly. My biggest pet peeves in all of Shonen are all in this one volume (especially when they're all unearned): firstly, I HATE when people explain their abilities before or in the middle of a fight (why give away your opponent the easy way out?), secondly, random diatribes about a persons backstory in the middle of fight (Jackie's is subtle enough that it's done well, Yukio's was a total snoozefest), and thirdly, one off pound festivals (ala Kenpachi's nonexistent fight). Kenpachi's fight was a total cope-out, especially since he's supposedly fighting someone who utilizes time and his opponent randomly decides not to use his ability. For what reason?? It could have been interesting, but Kubo decided to not even bother.

This was a great volume, as the fullbringers fight with the Shinigamis start its epic, great confrontations and fights and realization happens like the fight between Hiitsugaya and Yukio or between Madrame and Tsukishima's sidekick and he teaches him an important lesson. There is a great moment in Renji's fight with Jackie. But the real battle is Byakuya vs Tsukishima as he seems to have inserted himself very much in the former's past and is trumping him and presents a real challenge to him. Meanwhile Rukia is fighting Riruka and she seems to have trapped her in a doll and as the art is progressing its becoming good. Its an interesting battle between the two factions and the stakes have never been higher. And the art is just getting better and better!

I liked seeing the Soul Reapers enter the fight against the Fullbringers, and I liked seeing them paired off with them in different fights. I liked how each character’s opponent complimented them and made for interesting match ups. I liked seeing the Fullbringers fully fleshed out and getting pieces of their backstories, as well as see their unique powers in action. I liked seeing how Fukushima’s unique power would work in a direct battle, as well as how someone like Byakuya would react to it. Besides the match ups, I liked how Jackie sacrificed herself for Renji after he gained her respect. That was a surprising highlight for me in this arc.
